I think it is a "personality" thing. From what we've seen except for Screwllum, (who is a robot so ya know) every member of the Genius Society is pretty much a sociopath who does science for the sake of science. On the other hand even though Ratio's personality isn't the best, he's doing things for the betterment of others, and he is way more "human" than everyone else.
Actually we can't presume anything about Screwwy just yet. The fact he takes the phase flame and keeps it a secret when Herta would probably give it to him easily is Sus
I agree with you, Ratio in my opinion is far more moral than most if no all the Geniuses. I personally see the genius society as a bunch of sociopaths and mad scientists. Ratio on the other hand is more like a teacher who want to help his students to learn and be better.
The way I see it, the difference between Dr. Ratio and the Geniuses is that the Geniuses are willing to do whatever it takes to aquire knowledge, and they do it simply because they can/want to, no greater goal than the pursuit of knowledge for it's own sake, which is why they don't bother sharing their discoveries Ratio has the capabilities of a Genius, no doubt, but his desire is to share his knowledge with the universe and cure ignorance, which ends up causing him to deviate from the path of knowledge in service of others unlike the Geniuses who all have a laser focus on research to the point of obsession TL;DR: Dr. Ratio actually touches grass, that's why he can't be an emanator of Erudition

Perhaps he has the potential to become a genius. But he's too busy touching grass and doing IPC's bidding to push the boundaries of reality, not enough self-improvement to get on the same level geniuses operate on.
This ^ he is incredibly genius I would consider him better than those that follow the nous. He cares about his fellow men, compare to others who pursue their selfish desire for more knowledge without caring upon whom they step on. Also I highly doubt he is jealous, cuz if he was, there would be even more irrational from his side than what we see. I doubt Ratio actually care much of them lol.
Yeah not because they are inherently selfish, but more like sharing the knowledge they have won't actually help them learn more knowledge, so most of them see no points. Unless someone like the IPC makes deals with them to help sponsor them in their pursuit of knowledge.
I do believe that for Dr. Ratio, the gigachad he is, knowledge is not a goal but just a tool to achieve his goals. And that is the difference why he does not fit. He also does not sound jealous, he sounds proud of not being a part of Genius Society
@@callmeandoru2627I don't know, he might have been jealous at some point in his youth, but as an adult he proudly calls himself a 'Mediocre' so no one confuses him for a genius society member despite his high IQ. His attitude is basically "if I have to lose my empathy to be considered a genius, I'd rather be labeled average for the rest of my life'. He's got an attitude issue no doubt, but he genuinely loves normal people who desire to learn and sharpen their mind. He admits Herta is more intelligent then himself and worth praise, but hopes she gains more empathy. Herta did get some emotional vulnerability recently. He sees Screwllum as only partially a genius and partially a politician, and not a horrible one, so he has some respect for him already. But he considers Ruan Mei a lost cause.
Personally I think it's because 1. He shares his knowledge with the world, even though this is kinda frowned upon from Nous iirc and 2. It's not that he's incapable of p.e creating an entire planet, it's just that he doesn't even think of such extravagant? things, he's more into improving life for the average people and that excludes the things a genius society member would/should do So rather than being jealous of them as you said, I think he just holds contempt against them for being so intelligent and yet not actually helping anyone but themselves. I'm pretty sure during the quest he was shown to be as intelligent as the society members we met, but with an extremely different and almost contradicting outlook on people. Tldr: it's not his "lack" of intelligence that prevents him from being in the society, it's literally everything else.
I dunno, it seems to me like the things and solutions Dr. Ratio comes up with are mundane relative to geniuses. While Herta and the others make up new universes, new lifeforms, easily contain stellarons, ecs.
The way i see it, Dr Ratio doesn't necessarily try to gain more knowledge or make new discoveries even though he has the brains for it and instead passes and imparts knowledge on to others, unlike most of the genius society members
I like to think that Dr. Ratio advances existing fields, but Genius Society members create new fields of science. So while he is a genius no doubt, he's not quite at the level of Genius. But assuming that he is indeed smart enough, his purpose in life is not to seek knowledge for knowledge's sake but to disseminate knowledge to everyone. Perhaps this difference is what prevented Nous' gaze from descending upon him. Similarly with Fu Xuan, who sought knowledge of the future for the benefits of the Xianzhou. Even though she wasn't chosen for the Genius Society, I think Nous appreciated her conviction in seeking out this knowledge even if it meant eternal suffering as her body will continuously reject the eye Nous gave her.
Perhaps he has the potential to become a genius, but being caught in the web of IPC politics has him not improving himself enough to become a Genius. Or archiving something comparable to them. He does what the IPC needs and asks of him, not what would create new means of research or discovery.
In order to join Genius Society one must have the knowledge and means to pursue and discover new things. But Dr. Ratio may have knowledge but as long as he doesn't pursue something new, he can't or won't be invited to join the Genius Society. Heck even a Yu Qingtu the one that made the curios "Thalan Toxi-Flame" & "The Pinkest Collision" became a genius even if more than 700 of her concoction are poisonous.
Another thing is if we think about it, from the ones we know, these people did something to meet Nous, Fu Xuan accepting the future, Robert gained sentience and created The Anti-Organic Equation , Screwllum at some point took over his planet, Herta found a way to stop aging, so I think they have to do something to attract Nous' gaze, maybe something Nous didn't already know and predict
Actually, we have lore to suggest everything the genius society has invented or accomplished. Nous has discovered it first. And is very likely to know literally everything. So they do need to attract nous's gaze. But not by doing something he doesn't know or predict.
@@zakarahmad1421Even as a fervent denier of people's claims that Fu Xuan is an Erudition Emanator, I can't deny that she has MET Nous, at the very least to get her third eye
First of all, I thought that to be a member of the G.S., Nous had to notice us, to send a signal that would mark the beginning of the trials leading to his temple, but I could be wrong. Then I asked myself the same question, thinking first of all that perhaps the fact that Ratio wants to help mankind without the "selfish" goals of the other geni (by which I mean that they don't give a damn about others, and it shows in their habit of not sharing their discoveries. ) and that Nous rather wanted to recruit geniuses who would help them explore the secrets of the universe, and not only those who could be beneficial or of any use, but some members of the G.S. contradicted me, such as member number 22 Aiden or even member number 56 Elias Salas. After that, I moved away from the question "Why wasn't he invited to join the G.S.?" and asked myself instead "Why is it better for Ratio to stay out of the G.S.? (from Nous's point of view)", and here we can begin to put forward several hypotheses. The first is the one discussed above: Ratio's objectives are not aligned with those of Nous and the society, which seek to discover all the secrets of the universe, in the name of knowledge. Secondly, Nous has calculated a special future for him, and he's following a very special scenario, just like Elio with us trailblazers. In the same vein, it's possible that Nous calculated ratio's future if he joined the G.S. and predicted that his results would drop (due to lack of motivation or zeal/pretentiousness). Finally, perhaps his resentment towards the G.S. and Nous prevents him from receiving the aeon's signal, or he has received it and refuses to join the G.S. of his own free will for various reasons (trauma linked to genis refusing to help his planet or something). I love your channel, keep up the good work !
Honestly, I like how HSR builds on the Genuis Society. I mean for over the universe began to present, for every sentient life exist that contain intellegience, only less than 90 was invited by the Aeon of Erudition. Someone like Ratio was very smart yet was not invited...yet. I hope we gonna see more of these Genuis Society Members play a bigger role in the plot of HSR like being an valuable asset or a great wall blocking our progress. Anyways hope more moe genuis society members
I don't remember where I've read this but I remember (I think Herta said it) something about being in the Genius society that you need to be greedy about knowledge that something like sharing knowledge is inherently looked down upon by Nous and why she doesn't like the Intelegencia guild also Dr. Ratio might have not realized this(so as us I just realized it just now) Dr. Ratio alongside the Intelegencia guild is actually following the path of Trailblaze they might have not realized it but they're following the core principle of Trailblazing which is to understand and connect
I don't think Dr. Ratio wants to be an actual genius. I think he's disgusted with the Genius Society Members being self-serving (most of them) and wants to overthrow them or something ( at least that's what I gathered from the trailblaze mission ending and how he incited insurrection among the space station). I think he wants to cure the population's worship of Geniuses and have people be intelligent for themselves. Or maybe he really is just jealous and his time just hasn't come yet, in which case he'd be the biggest tryhard😂 .... But that would be disappointing.
After watching the Homu Labs video on him, I am inclined to believe that the reason of him not being in the society which makes the most sense, is his attitude towards knowledge. Not really a question of pure intelligence or something like IQ. Ratio does not pursue knowledge for the sake of it, unlike genius society members. With this in mind, the genius society members aren't necessarily the 'true geniuses of the universe' and being in the society itself requires the approval of Nous, and the aeon's criteria to be accepted is quite arbitrary. It doesn't really make sense for Ratio to be jealous of GS members because that seems kinda stupid lol. To me it seems like he recognizes their genius and gives them the respect they deserve rather than outright feeling inferior.
I think to put this simply, Dr. ratio is like an Academe, the one that propagates knowledge and truth in return with payment. While those Genius Society members are Scientists. Those are hungry for new knowledge and discoveries.
Yeah, dr. Ratios objective is the education and dissemination of knowledge to spread, breed and create intelligence. While nearky everyone in the genius society is focused entirely, and in dr. Ratios opinion selfishly, on the pursuit of some greater knowledge beyond what most can understand. The simulated universe is to obtain greater knowledge of the universe on a massive and complex scale. Dr. Ratio isnt the kind of person to build the simulated universe.
Agreed. The fact that Ratio helps others to reach the goal of knowledge limits him only to reaching the goal and not surpassing it and becoming what the rest should try to achieve
İ think it is because he isn't trying acheive a higher understanding for himself but is instead trying to spread knowledge because nous increases it's computanial power using the power of erudition path and i beleive the erudition path is about attaining a higher understanding of the universe(in the many worlds theory sense as a mutliverse)i think nous invites people who give him the highest computanial power so the ones who seek knowledge most to reward them
I think the difference between Ratio and true Geniuses is laid out pretty well in the Trailblaze mission. While Ratio was doing a big experimental exercise on the Trailblazer and the people of the Space Station, Screwllum saw Ratio as his experiment, having seen through the entire charade from the beginning, and was just letting him have his way to better understand his mind and intentions. If normal lifeforms in the universe are ants, Ratio and the other Intelligencia Guild members are rats, and the Genius Society are the scientists. Also I know this is just gameplay vs lore but it really kind of fits well: While Herta is AoE, and Ruan Mei buffs the whole party, while Screwllum - if you know, you know - Dr. Ratio is Single Target. Even Fu Xuan has AoE in the form of her Ultimate. Really I think this is an exemplary example of the difference in intelligence between these characters.
I think his goal of wanting to disseminate information freely is at odds with Nous' conclusion for what will promote the best possible future. This is why those intellects it favors (i.e. the Genius Society) mostly pursue knowledge for its own sake, rather than spread their learning to everyone. That's just my personal theory, though; I can't back that up entirely with the lore.
In the JP dub, he calls everyone else "normies" instead of idiots, and he actually refers to himself as one as well. For better or worse, he doesn't recognize himself as a "genius" as in the same as the GS
It's HSR, He doesn't like the path of erudition. So why would he seek out nous? Bro wouldn't be in the society even if they invited him. They hoard information., and he seeks to spread it. It's clear that his time in Veritas left a strong impression. Herta speaks down on the guild's philosophy of sharing information openly. Bro is more worried about working hard and teaching than getting some computer's blessing.
From his character story, "Mr. Ratio has never talked about the Genius Society with me, but there's something I remember well, even till today... It happened when I was still Mr. Ratio's academic assistant. I'm mainly responsible for managing his correspondences to and from all over the cosmos and handling his interactions with the outside world." "One day, I received a letter from Interastral Peace Corporation. I think... it was during the successful test-firing of the anti-planetary weapon Mr. Ratio had worked on for years. I could tell the solemnity of the invitation, so I excitedly passed it on to Mr. Ratio. Yet, he said nothing. I could sense his heavy silence even through the headgear. He then politely asked me to leave. The moment I closed the door, I heard a grim sigh followed by a self-deprecating laughter... Perhaps, he realized he would never be accepted into the Genius Society..."
I feel like Ratio's mindset is what makes him not a genius society member. Unlike the rest of the society who just really don't care about their level of intelligence, and just care about their research, Ratio is different. Unlike these self absorbed scientists, Ratio is a scholar who thinks that the mediocre intelligence the average have is downright a disease to him. Stupid people are a plague, because they make stupid decisions. Remember, he could really just have completely stopped the phase flame, but chose to let people experience the consequences of their stupid actions by just altering the destination they were sent to.
Hi Central Finite Curve, do you mind if you can make a beginner’s guide video for each planet that we have explored in star rail. Kind of like a beginner’s guide video of Ashikai (Genshin Impact youtuber) for each region in Genshin. The video usually consists of full history of a region up to the latest and some important bits to make the lore more accessible to newer players and also to refresh some information to existing players like me.
Also personally feel after studying is character Dr ratio is confident n himself and rather be how he his n share knowledge then beg depressly for nous to notice him I also the reason why maybe not have got to the temple applies to what I just said about him.. He doesn't need to prove himself and what's the Aeon to notice him naturally for genius and hard work using his knowledge also ratio seems like busy guy that couldn't give a f# about something so trivial. He's a definition of a confident person who can walk the talk he doesn't need approval n do how he please so when nous doesn't notice him his like well damn *sighs2* sucks be who cares right kinda mindset😅
Honestly, I think it's BECAUSE he cares about the common man that he isn't considered for thr Genius Society. His bitterness/jealousy toward inducted members of the Genius Society is real, but internally I don't think he is as high and mighty as he presents himself. To desire to teach others and raise up humanity as a whole gestures toward an inherent compassion that is clearly missing in many of the geniuses - think of how detached and cold Herta, Ruan Mei, and even Screwllum are toward people. Ratio disdains the ivory tower that the geniuses reside in & in the Trailblaze Continuance he expresses the desire to break the space station employees of their worship of geniuses. He wants people to think for themselves, not take the word of geniuses as law. I think that functionally this compassion runs counter to what the Genius Society (and Nous, possibly) values: individual accomplishment, the hoarding of very specific and specialized knowledge, invention and iteration. Instead, Ratio chooses to aid others - "a high tide raises all ships". So while he may or may not be as smart as other geniuses, who knows, something about his willingness to aid and educate humanity is either a counterweight to actually becoming one of Nous' chosen OR perhaps Nous has calculated that Ratio is where he should be already.
I don't think Dr. Ratio is jealous at all. There's not even a hint in his lore that he wants join the society or be noticed by Nous. Since the start, he is sure of himself and knows his priorities and that is to rid the universe of idiocy. He doesn't get invited in the society and doesn't get notice by Nous simply because he doesn't follow the path of Erudition. He just follows his own path.
Maybe, he havn't given up on tryning to fnid the secret of the universe which most people give up and then nous find him. Also he could way too prideful to join, or he just don't have enough wisdom rather than intellegence
This video is a bit of a miss for me. I think he's veryunch intelligent enough. What keeps him from the genius society is the presence of an actual feeling of responsibility towards his fellow mortals. Hes no less intelligent than ruan mei. But he's sane enough not to nearly kull hundreds of researchers by cultivating a fake Propagation emanator. This "limit" on the lengths he would go to "discover" is why he isnt an emanator. An emanator is, by definition, an extreme representation of an aeon in mortal form. The guy who values educating others cant be considered that, because he possesses a healthy balance between discovery and responsibility.
The reason is he is Herta ex-lover , there for break up he is no welcome in her friend circle. 8:22 I don't like how at the end of that quest the station just go back to normal, personally would prefer if they left thing divided as the point he made is true, the so called Genius don't see there assistants at all, to them the lesser then a tool. So personally dont like how the story team just close that up. And Screwlam excuse of I done nothing as I wanted to see how all play out is just bad, for a Genius to have 0 actual reason to let someone infiltrate and make a mess on one of his so called friend ship.

Why do I get the feeling, that even if he was invited, he'd just refuse out of spite xD
Yo that is actually really good take
I think his goal of wanting to disseminate information freely is at odds with Nous' conclusion for what will promote the best possible future.
From his character story,
"Mr. Ratio has never talked about the Genius Society with me, but there's something I remember well, even till today... It happened when I was still Mr. Ratio's academic assistant. I'm mainly responsible for managing his correspondences to and from all over the cosmos and handling his interactions with the outside world."
"One day, I received a letter from Interastral Peace Corporation. I think... it was during the successful test-firing of the anti-planetary weapon Mr.
@@rest1a It could be that him giving up on becoming a Genius was what led him to his current goal of universal enlightenment.
I think it's because he hadn't made any huge achievements like geniuses. He's helping the universe bit by that he hadn't done any research
love that after penacony, he can definately compare to the genius society members
Nous is deliberately withholding genius society status from Ratio, in order to motivate/provoke him into fulfilling his purpose
The video usually consists of full history of a region up to the latest and some important bits to make the lore more accessible to newer players and also to refresh some information to existing players like me.
this is a good idea! Hope Mr. CFC consider this
The summary:
Because Dr.Ratio is too based (im not joking)
Nous willingly to sacrifice living for science to understand the mysterious of the universe makes him morally grey code, this is why Dr Ratio W
He doesnt do research, instead he wants to make people smarter. And also Nous didn't bless him so yeah
I think Nous knows that if he were to be in the society then he wouldn't be helping others as much as he is now but idk really
But also I like the idea of him being too empathetic to join
Maybe Ratio has solved the riddle and met Nous - but didnt share the event with the rest of the class ;)
Also he could way too prideful to join, or he just don't have enough wisdom rather than intellegence
all the GS members are kind of Inventor and Dr. Ratio I think is not an Inventor neither chasing a singular goal to join/consider the rank
Reminds me of Alhaitham
Yeah he does remind me of Alhaitham, I hope they can meet someday 😂
TLDR: he knows herta and ruan mei are sussy nani bakas
"I want to join but I do not want to deal with those nutjobs" 😂
I think ratio just dont want to join tbh
One part of his character story does seem to show he was disappointed though when he wasnt invited
