- In this Facebook ads video I show you everything I’ve learnt about building an email list with Facebook advertising.
I show you my entire Facebook advertising strategy that I use to add thousands of email subscribers to my list every month and I go through each step in a lot of detail (using real life examples)

Hi Ben, thanks for this video. Super helpful. I noticed that you recommended to use 30 days for a lot of the custom audiences. In newer videos, especially when using conversion as a campaign objective, you recommend to use 180 days for a bigger audience and let facebook decide who they want to show the ad to. What is your current opinion on that matter?
We are trying to advertise a lead magnet pdf (guide) as a wedding videography company to collect e-mails and get the leads to inquire for our services through a e-mail campaign.
We choose a conversion campaign (CBO) and wanted to use 3 ad sets: 1) Lookalike 1% off of customer list of all our previous inquiries, 2) warm audience with multiple custom audiences (website visitors, etc.) and 3) interest based audience.

That was a fantastic video, Ben. Not sure if you are still replying to comments, but my question would be how long should I wait to "test" the conversion rate, to then turn it off and try something else? A couple of days ago I published an ad, had ~400 impressions, and just 3 leads. I think this is too low, but it's only been 2 days. Wanted to know your take. Thanks a lot for sharing the video.

thanks for the great video, ben! One question. Do I really need to create a landing page? It seems that now lead ads on facebook can just simply collect this data right on FB rather than on a separate landing page. I would assume that getting the contact info directly on facebook would work a bit better because it is basically one step less for the customer? Also, I am not sure where I can actually input a URL in case I would like to use a separate landing page (as you showed in this video). Some info on this problem would be highly appreciated. I would also like to ask you, what if my commissions from the affiliate marketing program i am into, are from the leads i bring and not from a sale. can I directly direct the people who click on my facebook advertisement, to the landing page off the company itself? can i share with the company the customers' details so i could have both the commission lead and the customers' details?

Hey Ben I have a question, I'm running a lead magnet for a client. The budget is low at about $5 a day and the option to optimize for clicks and leads isn't available. Do you think I should optimize for leads even though I won't get enough data or optimize for clicks, or change my objective to traffic in the first place ? Thanks
hi Ben, thanks for the video! very informative. Just wondering, at 58:49, when you talk about duplicating an adset, why is it called 'duplicating' if you choose different targeting? Is the 'duplication' referring to the fact that it's an ad for the same lead magnet?
Thanks a lot. It's called duplicating because you are starting with the same base and changing one element. If you created a new ad set you would need to select the same options for all the other settings (other than targeting) to run a proper test. Duplicating is just a way to save a bit of time.

Hi, unfortunately Facebook have recently removed a number of their targeting options for privacy reasons. Most of the financial targeting options have disappeared and I'm afraid. You'll have to find a workaround depending on who you're looking to target.

Hi Tina, yes for privacy reasons Facebook has removed some targeting options in certain locations - very frustrating but there are still tons you can use.

I'm targeting women who are looking to be entrepreneurs but are still at their current job. If I understood correctly, I found their interest and then exclude small business owner (behavior) - that should do the trick right? Because they are mainly on pages and groups where entrepreneurs are, but obv I don't want to target them.

Hi James, good question. I would create a high quality video ad that shows some of the classes in action. At the end of that video I would offer a free week trial. You can send people to your website and get them to sign up for it there or you can use a lead gen campaign and get them to sign up for the free trial on Facebook - best of luck with it :)

Thanks Thomas - you can provided that competitor comes up as an option. That will usually only happen if they have a very large following

Hi John, I would operate in your niche look any other. Look to deliver as much value as possible - no need to fake anything :)
So if you are new, obviously you would like to have different ad creatives to test, then once you find the best performing, you could use "use existing post" option with that one?

Thanks a lot. Can you create a sustainable business with that approach - yes.
Can you cover the lead acquisition cost with a 7 euro front end - almost certainly not. You'll need much higher value back end products to really increase your average customer value.

For instance, your strategy would be making facebook ads to drive awareness and traffic or going straight for lead conversion?
@@AyanProject in your case you'll have to go straight for the conversion. A multi-layered campaign structure would increase your acquisition costs too much.

Optimize your Facebook page
1) Add an opt-in form “tab”, or app to your Facebook page
This is very easy and usually takes around 10 minutes to set up.
The challenge?
Due to Facebook’s recent policy changes, this option is only available if:
You’ve installed the plugin before Facebook made their changes to the API
You’ve got over 2,000 likes
The application is whitelisted (We’re working on that!)

That change doesn't affect anything in this video. It is referring to a different strategy (one that I don't use). You can still do everything demonstrated in my video including installing the Facebook Pixel :)
What are your thoughts on offering the newsletter as it's own lead magnet? I want more subscribers to a newsletter I run.
Hi Chris, I'm not a big fan to be honest. I just don't think a newsletter is appealing enough. I would try and come up with something else.
Have you ever broken down lead magnets in depth? I'm sure what's effective has changed since you posted this video and probably varies based on industry. Your insights have been invaluable so far.
I found a page with good affinity/relevance in audience insights, I can’t seem to find it when I type it in the detailed targeting when searching, there anyway round this issue?
Marvin Mensah unfortunately there isn’t. Not all the pages that you can find in audience insights are intersect targeting options in Facebook ads manager. Very annoying I know but you’ll have to find other options for now

I created a lead magnet, a free protein breakfast ebook. I created a post about the freebie and set up an Ad using that post for people who like our page and their friends. The Relavance code was an 8 and 23 people opted in the first day. I set the Ad cost for 1 day for $30. Then I repeated 7 days later. Only 8 opt ins. Then 7 days later, only 3 optins. Not sure why the drop in opt ins. What should I change?
A drop in opt ins like that probably means your audience is too small. Lead magnet campaigns work better to larger audiences. That's what I would test first.

OptimizePress doesn't have an option built into it's Funnel to actually auto follow up with the customer via email for things like Download Links or thanks for signing up. It also has no way to add a digital asset into the funnel like Download PDF for free with a file link. From what I can tell for $199 you get to build just visuals and no real functionality other than taking the email to MailChimp. Extremely frustrated...
Is the Facebook pixel code and Facebook events code the same thing?

Periodic of Initial Driver CPC Training, which one should you be doing? How many people in your organisation need First Aid Training?
Those sound like good lead magnets to me, particularly the second one. The first one I don't really understand because I'm not involved in your industry but if you're target market knows those terms that I think that will work well.

Hi Shivam, that depends on a whole bunch of factors. In the UK, a cost per opt in of less than £2.00 each in that niche would be very good. So you would be looking at a cost of £2,000. But in the US it will be more expensive, in the vast majority of other countries, it will be significantly less.
When I go to create campaign, there is no option for key result, as in no event code option.
The event code stuff has to do with the Facebook Pixel - that isn't set when you create a campaign

Facebook ads 2020 yet this video was made 2 years ago....2 years might as well be 2 decades when it comes to the ever changing fb ads and marketing...
I understand your point but it does not apply here. We use this exact strategy still to generate tens of thousands of subscribers a year. Even if the interface changes slightly the strategy still works. Human behavior doesn't change anywhere near as much as user-interfaces and it's important to remember that.
