I hope we get a series on the blackfyre rebellions
Great stream as always IDG. Daemon Blackfyre certainly an interesting character. He didn't seem inept or evil , nor does it seem he genuinely hated Daeron II either. Its doubtful DB would have even pushed his claim if not for the devils on his shoulders (predominantly Bittersteel and Fireball) ; but years of poisoned advice eventually got to him it seems. Also , something to be said that not many (especially of that time) have much bad to say about Daemon despite the rebellion. DB possibly susceptible to flattery and persuasion , though he seemed to hold out for years in terms of being persuaded ; but do not know quite enough about him to say if he would have been a good king. I suspect probably not or at least nowhere near the wise competent Daeron II. Daemon is certainly an interesting character and F&B II should shed even more light on his and the other Great Bastards' characters.
Daemon also an interesting character foil for Daeron II and Bloodraven. Seems a Saul v Solomon dynamic between Daemon and Daeron - one looks the part vs wise competent king who is well suited to the role. And there is a bit of an Achilles v Odysseus aspect between Daemon and Bloodraven imo. Heroic warrior vs one who will turn to trickery , treachery or any means to survive / get it done.
Each time Robert said Aegor Rivers , I shouted "Bittersteel"
We all need you so much! Life is so complicated, and this is the ultimate escapism! Love ya!
In deep geek is probably my favorite UA-cam channel I rewatch videos before and after live streams, and then sometimes re watch livestreams. Just really good content seemingly ran by a really good dude.
Me: yay bran is gona learn to fly from bloodraven
Also Me: wait bloodraven ... are we the baddies?
Yeah Aegor Rivers was the power in the shadows . It was actually his rebellion almost. He hated Daeron because he wasnt welcomed in the court due to what his grandfather and mother did. He was the one who really had a reason to star a rebellion to change the king. Daemon on the opposite was favoured by the king Daeron , he got married to a rich woman, he owned lands and a castle....he was doing good , he didn't wanna risck that.
Blackfire rebelion was driven by rivalry between Aegor Rivers and Bloodraven and is a clear parallel with the rivalry between Littlefinger and Varys …
Powerful! We might just get that in the books with Aegon the 6th or possibly Aegon the 1st Blackfyre
At 52:00 you say Bloodraven doesn't know everything, in relation to changing the past. I very much doubt that Bran figures out something this basic about his powers after a few days, that Bloodraven hasn't in the near century he has been hooked up. I would argue he is very much aware of that possibility, but in an butterfly effect sort of way has to seriously imprint on Bran how dangerous it can be, to the point where it shouldn't even be considered an option. I'm guessing Bloodraven either knew about the dangers from the get-go, or has done his own experiments with disastrous results.
So I actually think bloodraven was working with bittersteel to crown Daemon. George likes tragic characters and when bloodraven tells bran he had a brother he loved and a brother he hated I think he meant daemon and bittsersteel.
My argument is that bloodraven and bitters tell conspired to crown daemon by forcing his hand. The fact that daemon and his family were able to escape unscathed is odd to me. Bloodraven is likely the greatest master of whispers in westerosi history yet he didn’t discover the information until it was too late. I think bloodraven and bittersteel planned to force daemon’s hand by telling Daeron. But I think once he did bittersteel cut him out and turned daemon against him. I think this incident is what radicalized bloodraven against the blackfyres and for the targs. After risking everything for daemon he casts him aside and cuts him out.
Balor was really like “Dude I couldn’t impregnate my sister? Guess i better starve myself…”
All Hail King Daemon Blackfyre First Of His Name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men and The Lord of the Seven Kingdoms
And protector of the realm !
No big NO
@@bearithme97 YES YES YES
He dead
Blood Raven is a real politic kind of guy. I wouldn't put it past him to have falsely accused Daemon of intending to declare, in order to preemptively remove him as a rallying point for Daeron's the detractors. Or as a pretext to removing Daemon and his sons from the line of succession.
I kinda think that Aemond might be the brother that Bloodraven loved
Great video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁👍
Chadaemon Blackfyre had no right whatsoever. His father, Aegon IV, never once said that Daeron II was not his son/heir, and definitely never said Daemon ought to be King.
Aegon was outrageous in his gift giving, going so far as to gift dragon eggs to Lord Butterwell. His gifting of Blackfyre to Daemon didn't mean jack squat. He gave him a sword. The end.
Yet the Westerosi went on a questerosi (mostly the marcher lords) to urge Daemon to usurp the throne. Seemingly every Blackfyre supporter has reasons based on self-interest (regaining lands/castles, dialing back the Dornish presence, desiring a spot on the Kingsguard.)
Most of the realm supported Daeron. The ones with a chip on their shoulder essentially started the Blackfyre Rebellions.
Didn’t some prince of Dorne build the water gardens for his Targaryen bride?
Yes, the Daenerys mentioned here sister of Daeron 2 they both married Martells
Sorry I missed todays stream. Moving. Blah
He defo loved daenerys and marryi g her to dorne was his last straw
