- Our fearless leader, Blake, answers Mike's question on which body he would choose to do a hemi swap on for a beginner on a budget. He sort of goes a bit further for those with a higher budget. Lots of good fun discussion here and something for us to think about when doing our next build. We can't wait to get to it and show you how 'EASY' that will be. 1. Quick Hemi Harnesses are now on Pre-Order. We are currently waiting to get our test batch in and will run them through a torture test run. We have to make sure they are going to be the Best for our Mopar guys!
2. Our thermostat spacer test piece just arrived! We can't wait to see how she fares in Blake's Cuda after some spirited runs for a few weeks at least.

I've been really relieved how many parts are available for my E body and older Mopars in general. Holley is coming through with a lot of convenient swap brackets and pans that make it easier than ever. Great time to be doing these types of projects.

I've done a Hemi Dakota swap and I'm about to start my 2nd Hemi Dakota.
Awesome! Yep the Hemi Dakota is swaps are definitely nice power to weight. What mounts are you using? What transmission you running? We are trying to keep it low budget and modifications as possible
@@SUBLIMEparts Here is my write up on the swap. DIYHemi,,Message me when you can, would like to talk with you about HP Tuners and other things that I notice you do. I think I have a plan for a plug-n-play wiring harness for these trucks.
Henry Meynier you can reuse the 4.7 trans with creativity, and you will need the main engine harness from the hemi. Fuel pump and tank should be fine if you were getting 58-60idh PSI fuel pressure, which should be the case.

Thank you so much I own a 76 D-100 and wanted to find something to swap into it
I bought a dropout from a 2012 SRT-8 Challenger and had it swapped into a single cab 2005 Ram. Bought a few extras like new radiator, IQ3 Race Pack, harness and unlocked ecm,QA1 shocks, Calvert Racing Cal Tracks. It's about 6000 miles on it since the swap and has been a blast !
Forgot to mention oil pan and header.
I haven’t been able to find much about putting a 392 power plant in a 67 dodge d100. I found a motor and trans with the ecu out of a 15 challenger but not to sure what to expect after the purchase of the motor. Truck has a slant 6 225 that is gutless. Front Ifs kit from qa1 is 4-6 weeks out so I’m on the drivetrain right now.

I'm looking for a donor for my 47 Dodge truck. I thought I saw in another video that the harness/pcm/tranny computer was easier from 05-08? Just trying to get all the info I can!!

Hey Blake I have a 04 Ram 1500, had a 4.7 swap it for a 5.7 I don't have a wiring harness or the ecu, where do I go from here, I do have the hemi it has 85 thousand miles, and I having a problem with the gas pedal not sure, could use help, thank you.

I would say the half ton trucks are the best economical route. Even the 4wd model can be turned into cool 2wd muscle trucks. That goes for all brands as far as builds go. It's to the point that even not so popular cars as far as V8 platforms go are all getting pricey.
I have a 1977 D100 short bed V-8 , what engine is best for that on a low budget , and I'm mechanical inclined , put many big blocks in my own A - body's before ??

@@jjmonty8090 I am in Arlington , yes I am in the process of the swap. Right now the motor is being machined it was bored out .020 over I had to find a diff set of heads because they were warped but a few weeks later some popped up on Market place for good price

How do you swap a c body when they don't make mounts for them? I have a 74 Dodge Monaco I want to swap, but the engine mounts only go up to '73 c bodies.

Just a note on B bodies - while I absolutely love my '66 Charger, they haven't seen the attention or price increases of the 2nd gen or other models and can still be found pretty reasonably.
You know how these hotrodders think. Once it breaks loose, and it will, prices will start creeping up fast

Is their a reason a modern HEMI 5.7 is not as popular ( never seen one yet) swapped in an exemple a subaru BRZ which is a really awesome platform .. The LS swap on that car us amazing... Would really love the option of. hemi engine
It’s really mostly due to knowledge and information sharing, along with low price point of GM truck engines. Hemi swaps are just as easy, we hope to make the hemi swap just as popular of an option!
With the hemi engines are they interchangeable.like say if you had ca core 5.7,an you put 6.1/6.4 heads and cams or not.

How about the 2011 + grand Cherokee are they a good donor vehicle for engine and computer for an A body? I'm in Australia we mainly have those and 300c Chrysler's
Those are excellent donor vehicles. They already possess the exhaust manifolds needed for many swaps, providing better clearance. They are affordable and aesthetically resemble the car engines.

Hey ...I have a dodge charger 2008 , so are you saying to hemi swap , a truck hemi would be best vs getting another hemi out of a similar car magnum , 300 ect ??
not at all, we would say for you to use a car hemi out of the same year if you can. If you have a V6 then you still need a new computer and complete body and engine harness to swap over, but it still may get complex for the in cabin wiring. We make a swap harness that would plug into the hemi engine harness and get the engine running but it does not get gauges and interior electronics working. You basically could get our harness and get the car moving on it's own so long as it's not a newer trans like a NAG1 or 8HP.
Anybody put a Gen lll 345 Hemi in a 73’ f100 Ranger ??
That’s my problem in my area. You can’t find them(Hemi engines) for that price. Wish I could put one in my Cuda for that price.
They have definitely gone up this year and covid hasn’t helped. Pre eagles with high mileage are going for $1000 nowadays, engine only 🤦🏻♂️
DIYHEMI yeah I was looking for any of them but our junkyards don’t have em( believe me I’ve been checking 😂). But I’m debating on buying a reman engine and just add the accessories needed to run to see if that would be a better choice. Keep up the great work guys!
R Bridges we just scored a running, driving, Jeep Commander with 5.7 for $400. Don’t give up!
How difficult would it be to swap a 2011 hemi out of a ram 1500 into something like a 80s model cutlass, Monte Carlo, or something similar?
The engine is motor mounts space and wiring hosing etc. The trans is the real question. What trans determines how much trans tunnel and mount fab.

Probably the Jeep Grand Cherokee or Jeep Commander 5.7. Also look into the Dodge Dakota powertrains.
Where are you finding Hemi's at the prices you're talking about? They are at least double, even more than triple that of the costs referenced here. At least that's the case in my area
We still find them cheap. We have bought several for $450 even as of 2 months ago
I have a complete 25 challenger with 5.7 HEMI. wreck rear end of car sure would love to drop this in one of my B body impala 93-96? would it be worth it?

@@dantaethomas766 Heck yeah! It depends on how mechanically inclined you are, but you would need a custom engine mount made. We will likely finish our 2015 hemi car harness by end of this year. Plug and play and you need to find a way to get your gauges and other interior electronics to work. But it would be badass.
How hard would a 2010 ram 4.7 with rfe transmission be to swap to a 5.7 or 6.1 if possible
I'd imagine not overly hard considering they had hemi's from there factory, go the extra mile and get a 6.1 or 6.4 and there's those hemi turnkey crate motors with a transmissions as well which would make it alot easier
I have a 70 dodge dart would love to do a hemi swap. Should I stay with the fuel injection..I was thinking of just going carb with it. I can pick up 2014 Hemi for 500 bucks. It's out of a Charger will it fit ok with those accessories. Thanks and where do you recommend getting the engine mounts, ignition for carb and oil pan..what if it's a MDS motor
I highly recommend sticking with efi. It’s just as, if not more expensive to switch to carburetor as to run the stock fuel injection.
That engine will fit great with the TTI motor mounts, but you won’t be able to run factory power steering. You will need borgeson power steering or factory manual steering gear box.
We like to run factory engine wiring and ecm’s on our swaps.

@@clintwoods2937 you can get an efi fuel tank from tanks Inc. they make one that bolts right in and looks factory, but it has the efi baffles internally and houses the fuel pump.
If you used your original small block trans from the Dart, the speedometer cable will work just as before.
To operate the engine coolant temp gauge, we sell a thermostat spacer that you put your factory dart coolant sensor in so that gauge works.
You can use 3/8 to 1/8 npt adapter on the oil port above the oil filter to run your factory dart oil pressure gauge or light
@@SUBLIMEparts I really want to do the hemi swap. I just concerned about the wiring it's got me a little scared. I can get the engine for like 500 bucks it's supposed to be a good runner . Was going to have it all checked out of course . Not sure if it comes with all the wiring I need that may be hard to find ?

About 18 months ago we bought two wrecked 5.7 police chargers from the local sheriff’s auction. $1,000 for both cars. One had 85,000 miles and the other was like new at 9,543 miles on the clock.
Auctions and wrecked cars seem to be where the deals are now. Try to buy an entire wrecked vehicle with low miles. Oddly enough, it’s cheaper than just buying the engine or powertrain.
Many people on marketplace now are using wrecked cars to make money. They buy a cheap wrecked car/truck and part out to make a few thousand.
The ram truck engines are the cheapest even in the 09+ I personally went with a 09 challenger engine because it came from a manual car so no MDS and it was low mileage I spent 1900 after shipping

Finding a good Hemi mechanic. There are a few swap shops but you need to be sure they have experience in Hemi swaps for your body. This is a custom job and is not for your average shade tree mechanic.
91-93 dakota. In those years they still have analog gauges powered by sending units. Hyrdraulic overdrive trans and torque converter. Its literally a drop in affair. You can even use the stock transmission if you are okay with the 4 speed.

You got to. We're pretty sure we saw one before. But they are rare! Our QuickHemi harness will even get it started up and running for you. The electronics and gauges will be the hardest which won't be so bad even

The Hemi is the only block that Chrysler has that you can make any horsepower with the 340 blocks won't hold a lot to 440 blocks won't hold a lot the R3 blocks are very expensive and the big block Chrysler aftermarket block is absolutely fucking ridiculous price
