Nice Video with some really nice games but there are a few that would definately need to be in there Like: Mission Impossible,Pirates, the Great Giana Sisters,The Last Ninja 2,Ghosts and Goblins (get the remake of 2015) to name a Few.
I was more into strategy and rpgs on the c64. I'm gearing up to play Gunship again and I'm working my way through demon's winter right now. Currently I'm using an Ultimate 64 which allows me to play both the NTSC and PAL games. To add to the list Space Taxi: I have over 3 decades of saves on this rom dating back to when I was a kid, got back from college, working in the 2000's and now my sons. Archon 1/2, Jetset Willy 2, Load Runner, Wizzard, Montezumas Revenge, Defender of the Crown are more action related games I would recommend. Nice collection of the very early c64 games. Very different from other lists around and the usual candidates - last ninja, turrican etc... Not ones that pushed the machine graphically but you got some good music in here on the last few..

Edit: Just wanted to add Terry's Great Adventure and Clever & Smart because they're dead now. Because I played them to DEATH.
Cool! the first mention of Zamzara! So cool switching weapons with the F1 - F7 keys. That F5 beam rocked, so did the missile triggered with spacebar. Too bad you need an extra player to control the keyboard when you needed the missile badly...
But I guess you di,d not own Giana Sisters, The Last Ninja 1 and 2, Outrun, Combat School, Bubble Bubble, Paper Boy, Ghost n Goblins, man so, so many games missing here Steve!!! ;-)
Yeah definitely never owned Giana😞 I could never get my head around the last ninja series and always thought the arcade ports were a little underwhelming and took forever to load🙈 I would love to own Space Taxi that game is probably the best c64 game I’ve seen that I never played as a kid
I didn't like this list, and I think that if you stick to your rule of only adding game you already own yourself... yeah, well, you should have called the list something other than 'the best 25 Commodore 64 games ever'. My humble personal opinion. Oh, I think we all did hear the emulated drive sounds of some of the games being loaded from an Ultimate cartridge. Right? Nothing wrong with running backups to preserve the original media. Anyway, thumbs up and all. It is after all impossible to disagree with your pick for number one. Tough as nails but excellent music.
You could watch any “best” videos but none of them would be correct, it’s always someone opinion. And if you finish reading the title it does say “my favourite” What would you have in there? I have no way of capturing composite video so it was all done on PC Thanks for watching👍
@@Sinisteve Yeah, you are right. You are. I would probably notmake a list, but a couple of my all time favourites would be Bruce Lee and Rick Dangerous. Those are games I always come back to. These days I'm playing Wolfling. Looking forward to the enhanced physical edition which will be due.., when it's ready, or so I've heard.
Creatures 1 and 2. Silkworm. Slicks. CJs elephant antics, Rick dangerous, turrican 1 and 2, rainbow islands, last ninja remix, snare, spindizzy 5th gear, uridium, yi ar kung fu. Dominator, armalyte, Could go on for ever.
Phil Jamieson spin dizzy is good, totally forgot about that one, I was trying to leave out games I preferred on the Amiga, turricans, silkworm, rainbow islands..otherwise they definitely would’ve been there👍 Thanks for watching
@@Sinisteve wiredly enough, I always preferred C64 versions of most games that came out on both platforms. They always played more solid, and seemed more real. Despite limitations. Funny.
I wonder if anyone can help me remember a game... I don't have much info and all I remember is being a spaceman (I think) and exploring caves and picking up some objects. I thought it was called Exile but I can't find anything :( Some of my favourite games were Racing Destruction Set, Paradroid, Uridium, Elite, Boulder Dash, just to name a few and I also remember a wrestling game that I was fond of but that may have been on the Amiga, those years are such a blur now :( @Sinisteve Retro Gamer what game is your avatar from? It looks familiar.
Definitely sounds like Exile ua-cam.com/video/r2Kpz5dVmLg/v-deo.html Elite is one of my favourite Amiga game but only left it out as I don’t think the graphics have aged well... The avatar is Sinistar, an old Williams arcade game👍 Thanks for watching

Thank you for the speedy reply. By the way, did you know there is a modern Elite called Elite Dangerous?
You paid £5 for Gauntlet 3?! Thats some luck, Although I did get Great Giana Sisters and all of the jewel box Thalamus titles for £1 each. I paid quite a bit more for Guantlet III... I only need Zak and Maniac Mansion and I’m done.
Yeah £5 haha from a game shop too I don’t collect c64 and the game was awful so sold it to a German collector... I’d love Giana, Zak and Maniac Mansion for Amiga...one day maybe
Can't disagree with your No1 and No3 choices. I take it you don't own Wizball haha. Platoon had to be in there and Hot Rod. Still it's a controversial list and I guess a list that appeals to you.
Beaps73 yep definitely compiled with my nostalgia glasses on...but all good games that still play well today, my c64 collection is very small, I’ll check out the others you mentioned, although I could never get in to wizball on the Amiga
_Radar Ratrace?_ ABSOLUTELY NOT! That game will drive you NUTS in about 10 minutes with its 5 second repeating "soundtrack". And its non-smooth scrolling is jarring too. Nice early attempt* at Rally-X, but no thanks! * Radar Ratrace came out the same year the C64 was released, so they were still learning about what the C64 could do.
Hahaha the nostalgia glasses were firmly on when I made this, I’ll still have fun with radar rat race now and still prefer the cat and mouse theme to rally x, although I haven’t actually put that much time into rally x, I should really
@@Sinisteve I think Radar Ratrace was the very first game I bought for my C64 back in the day. I seem to remember they were selling it for about $5! It was a cartridge, so at least I didn't have to suffer through super long loading times only to be disappointed! Still, good times.

9. Spy Hunter
10. Frogger
Honorable Mention: Swinth
Magic Madness, Mutant Camels (Gridrunner knockoff), Parallax, Delta Force, Uridium, Zamzara, Madness, Hell's Bells, Gobbler, Zaxxoon, Impossible Mission, Arkanoid, Dragonskulle, Astroblitz, Buck Rogers, Bubble Bobble, Archon, Ghosts & Goblins are just some of many I played to DEATH.
I’ve never heard of zamzara! I’ll check it out
Wasn't Radar Rat Race a Vic20 cartridge? Did it even make it to the C64?
AlienWacker yeah it was a launch title for the vic 20 then converted over to the 64, love that game!
frogs n flies. artillery duel.
I have never seen Beamrider on any list, my favorite ever:-) (Activision... dont forget it on your list @OSG :-p )
I’ll check that out buddy, also want to try out space taxi, looks great!
@@Sinisteve seen that one comming by a few times. Sure gonna try!
nice games selection. but what about Bruce Lee? :)
KATOD_music I do like Bruce Lee but I don’t own it for some reason😞in fact I should top up my c64 collection soon
But I guess you di,d not own Giana Sisters, The Last Ninja 1 and 2, Outrun, Combat School, Bubble Bubble, Paper Boy, Ghost n Goblins, man so, so many games missing here Steve!!! ;-)
Yeah definitely never owned Giana😞
I could never get my head around the last ninja series and always thought the arcade ports were a little underwhelming and took forever to load🙈
I would love to own Space Taxi that game is probably the best c64 game I’ve seen that I never played as a kid
I don't remember Andrea the giant in kung fu master😂
Without further ado Retro you obviously weren’t good enough to get past level 2😂😂
Heroquest and operation wolf for me
Never player HeroQuest, operation wolf doesn’t quite capture the arcade game imo, maybe I should give it another go
I didn't like this list, and I think that if you stick to your rule of only adding game you already own yourself... yeah, well, you should have called the list something other than 'the best 25 Commodore 64 games ever'.
And if you finish reading the title it does say “my favourite”
What would you have in there?
I have no way of capturing composite video so it was all done on PC
Thanks for watching👍
@@Sinisteve Yeah, you are right. You are. I would probably notmake a list, but a couple of my all time favourites would be Bruce Lee and Rick Dangerous. Those are games I always come back to. These days I'm playing Wolfling. Looking forward to the enhanced physical edition which will be due.., when it's ready, or so I've heard.
Chill out fella it's just a bit of nostalgia
Creatures 1 and 2. Silkworm. Slicks. CJs elephant antics, Rick dangerous, turrican 1 and 2, rainbow islands, last ninja remix, snare, spindizzy 5th gear, uridium, yi ar kung fu. Dominator, armalyte, Could go on for ever.
Phil Jamieson spin dizzy is good, totally forgot about that one, I was trying to leave out games I preferred on the Amiga, turricans, silkworm, rainbow islands..otherwise they definitely would’ve been there👍
Thanks for watching
@@Sinisteve wiredly enough, I always preferred C64 versions of most games that came out on both platforms. They always played more solid, and seemed more real. Despite limitations. Funny.
Most on your list are pretty accurate... but Jeeze, did you work for Mastertronic? Most of them are pretty bad!
Hahaha my parents must loved just getting me budget titles
Boulder dash, blue max, karateka...
Shaul Rosenzweig only heard of 2 of those, will definitely check those out👍
Seems to prefer the older C64 games that came out early 80s, and not the newer one's that came out after 1985 or so.
I’d moved on to Amiga by 89 that’s why all my nostalgic games are early
I'd kind of like to make my own video like this. But I'd have no idea how to do it! 🤣
Bit of a learning curve with editing software but pretty easy
@@Sinisteve cool I might look into it we'll see. Thanks for the response
I wonder if anyone can help me remember a game... I don't have much info and all I remember is being a spaceman (I think) and exploring caves and picking up some objects. I thought it was called Exile but I can't find anything :(
Some of my favourite games were Racing Destruction Set, Paradroid, Uridium, Elite, Boulder Dash, just to name a few and I also remember a wrestling game that I was fond of but that may have been on the Amiga, those years are such a blur now :(
@Sinisteve Retro Gamer what game is your avatar from? It looks familiar.
Definitely sounds like Exile ua-cam.com/video/r2Kpz5dVmLg/v-deo.html
Elite is one of my favourite Amiga game but only left it out as I don’t think the graphics have aged well...
The avatar is Sinistar, an old Williams arcade game👍
Thanks for watching
@@Sinisteve Yeah when I look up videos of Exile I don't remember it, nor does it look like the image I have in my head and I'm sure it was on the C64, I must be getting confused with another game. Thank you for the speedy reply. By the way, did you know there is a modern Elite called Elite Dangerous?
Strange how at the time, ghostbusters and the one with col tibbits (a spy) seemed so much fun and now they look like garbage
BMW racers doesn't event have hw scrolling?
What game is that in the beginning sinister? I loved that game on The arcade
Sinistar yes, used to scare the shit out of me as a kid🙈RUN COWARD!!
You paid £5 for Gauntlet 3?! Thats some luck, Although I did get Great Giana Sisters and all of the jewel box Thalamus titles for £1 each. I paid quite a bit more for Guantlet III... I only need Zak and Maniac Mansion and I’m done.
Yeah £5 haha from a game shop too
I don’t collect c64 and the game was awful so sold it to a German collector...
I’d love Giana, Zak and Maniac Mansion for Amiga...one day maybe
@@Sinisteve I keep an Amiga Maniac Mansion (kixx) as a placeholder for the 64 version.
didn't you like boulderdash?
:-)
That’s a lot of people’s favourite, don’t think I’ve ever played it! I’ll check it out👍
@@Sinisteve
i love that game!
:-)
Well after watching this video I now realise what I missed out on not having a c64 conclusion not much😂 I'm glad I had a speccy! Long live the spectrum and death to all c64s! Joking aside though Steve another cool video mate keep up the good work
Without further ado Retro I pity the neglected kids that had to put up with spectrums😂😂
@@Sinisteve I was still waiting for the good games to come up and the video finished😂
Without further ado Retro 😂hope you done a video on spectrum disk supercars before you sold it because it was wankage haha
I can feel one of these list videos coming on top ten times the spectrum kicked the c64s ass😂👍
Without further ado Retro that’ll be a short video lol...have you got 2 spare minutes today to knock it together
No RPGs.
How is Radar Rat Race a good game? Eyuch.
For the same reason Namco’s Rally X is a good game😉
There's a number of trash titles here...
Like what?
@earthlysecent haha lol, go buy a PlayStation and let us Enjoy these gems:-)
These are some of the worst games on the platform. Have you spent more than 3 minutes making this list?
it looks awful!
