Many thanks for this, and your other videos. I found that you can indeed use the parking brake using this format. With the PMDG 737, after releasing the parking brake you then then either hold the toe brakes or the brake button on your joystick for around 3 seconds after release of the parking brake. That will then release the brakes.
Thanks for this, you mentioned the parking brake doesn't work but it seems to work fine for me (other than having to hit the brakes for it to engage & disengage). The reverse works fine but I get the feeling I'll be shelling out for a Honeycomb Bravo in the future to solve this properly...
You can get the gear working: Landing gear: "Set Gear" to Joystick 21 on press "Gear Up" to Joystick 21 on press "Gear Down" to Joystick 21 on release Parking brake: "Toggle Parking Brake" to Joystick 20 on press If reversers are too powerful, enable virtual buttons on quadrant. If you want commonly used flap settings on your detents for T/O and Landing: Messing with sensitivity on the flaps you can make it take detents at 5 degrees and 30 degrees so you dont go to wrong flaps during landing and takeoff: Joystick L axis Z = Sensitivity - -25% and Sensitivity + +50%

Can you show me or tell me how you have your gear mapped to that throttle quadrant? I cannot get mine to retract at all and cannot find a fix.... Thanks
There are two things in play here - firstly, if you have already meddled with the gear bindings, you will have broken the profile for the Airbus quadrant (if you're using one) - it has "special sauce" in the default profile. That's irrelevant though - the airbus quadrant isn't really compatible with the 737, because the 737 gear lever has three positions. You'll just have to unbind it for the moment, and either use G on the keyboard, or move the lever in the cockpit with the mouse.
the reverse thrust part doesn't work for me. I set it to the same button as you, I'm holding it down, and moving the throttles and it just jumps a little but it doesn't move.
My Flaps when I use them don't go through every other notch or so it goes straight to full flaps when I just move them a little any ideas? Also the same for the spoilers?
Your throttle quadrant may be broken - I've heard this from quite a few people now. A good friend sent his back to Thrustmaster and they replaced it. Have a look in the sensitivity sliders, and see if the axis markers are moving smoothly in relation to the levers.
Hello Mate, thanks for this excellent video but even if I have your identical setup, reverse does not work. I do not know if last release of MSFS and PMGD changed something. Take Care.
You need the APU running (electricity), the fuel pumps on, and APU Bleed on (compressed air to spin up the engines). You need packs off, otherwise the cabin pressurisation system uses the compressed air you needed to start the engines :)
To be honest, reverse thrust was never going to work on the Airbus quadrant, because the Boeing doesn't use one axis. I have no idea about the Boeing quadrant - sorry.
Hello, i had follow your instructions point for point. But when i push the Joy BTN 1 (red button on the thrust) the reversers make only a small move. I can't move the reversers with the axis. Do you have an idea why?
Did you configure it on the correct axis in the controller configuration? I've seen that happen, but only when the axis were configured on the 0-100 settings. You have to REMOVE the assignments from the 0-100, otherwise both will happen.
@@jonbeckett Thanks for the fast answer. Yes for sure, i had removed the 1-100% axis and use the "Throttle 1 Axis" and the "Throttle 2 Axis" // "Hold Throttle Reverse Thrust" ist "Joystick button 1" I have no idea why the throttle reversers not move with the axis when i push the button :/
I used this video and it worked for about two weeks and then randomly stopped working. I've tried switching to the 0-100 option as well but nothing seems to work.
Yes, most people get CTD and freezing with ALL aircraft. There are a myriad of reasons of it, and a lot of hoodoo spouted by people who think they know best, and end up breaking the sim or their computer, fiddling with settings they don't understand.
Hi can you please tell us how to make the engine start possible on TCA Throttle Quadrant what I mean is when you press ignition start on the TCA Throttle Quadrant you will trigger the switch on the overhead panel engine start GRD and also is we can make the fuel cut off switch make working on the TCA Throttle Quadrant for Pmdg aircraft I would like to start the engine in my 737 without clicking the mouse on the overhead panel I hope you or somebody else can explain this to me ,but please don't say I need the span next for that or different fcuipc module
The gear level in the 737 is incompatible with the Airbus quadrant - you're better off removing the binding entirely, and using the mouse in the cockpit.
I have a setting i have for the airbus Throttle for the PMDG 737 and i can use it for the 737 the yellow arrows on the throttle tells you where the reverse thrust is you bring the levers back then pull the throttle back tot he yellow area that is where the reverse thrust kicks in you don't have to use that button works fine for me with my setting..
Thanks very much for your instructive video! I'm still struggling with the gear lever. I cannot get it programmed right for the gear-up function i.e the lever goes up but the green en red indicators stay on. So when i then move it down again and shortly after that up, it generally works but it is not rock solid. Do you have found a clue?
About reverse thrust, I just found out that with your solution the reverse thrust is limited to about 75%. In the default controller setting there is full reverse thrust but difficult to control however. I think PMDG/Asobo have to do some work here. n.b. Instead of "Hold Throttle Reverse Thrust", "Decrease Throttle" can also be used which gives a bit more power but still not full. I have also bound "Autothrottle Disconnect" to button 1 (as in the real aircraft) and it combines well the "Decrease Throttle" function.
@@NowIsGold it's odd... I get full reverse thrust - but only while the engines are running. The alternative is just to use the keyboard to go full reverse. The controller really isn't compatible with the throws needed for the aircraft.
@@jonbeckett Strange such different results. The keyboard is no option for me since I'm flying solely in VR. But anyway, 80% RT for the time being is sufficient in in most cases I think.
Thank you for the video, Jonathan! Interesting because if I don't use 0-100% throttle then it won't go all the way back to idle, it only works fine when using 0-100%. Also, PMDG told me that 0-100 must be used. I'm a bit confused as to why mine is not working the regular throttle axis as shown in your video.
Do you by chance have the Thrustmaster TFRP pedals? I'm having issues with the rudder not working at all. I own the Airbus pack and i don't know how to fix it or how to program the twist function on the joystick to use as the rudder
If you've meddled with the landing gear switch configuration, you will have to revert to a new controller profile based on the default one - the "default" profile has special sauce in the gear switch - if you alter it, it doesn't work any more. It isn't helped that the gear lever in the 737 is not a switch - it has three positions - so you're already fighting an up-hill battle with the Airbus quadrant :)
when I hold the reverse button and push the throttle up, it only goes to less than quarter of the way then stops so I am only getting round 10% reverse thrust
Thank you for your video. I am using the Thrustmaster TCA and have everything set up except on the control options for the throttle I do not have the reverse box for the throttle 1 and 2 axis. Any idea on what I have done wrong? Thank you.

I used the speedbrake axis on the Airbus quadrant. If you look in the controller configuration, and make a profile specifically for the 737, you should be able to re-map keys, buttons or axis as required.
Good one Jon ! I had to reconfigure, reverse thrust not working to my liking. @@jonbeckett At least in theory Jon. Didn’t have time to check it out, if it’s really practical…that’s me will tell. Just finished Sunday group flight in Western Australia 🇦🇺
For some people the Throtle 1 axis and the Throtle 2 axis work and for others the only way it works is by assigning it to the (0 to 100%) depends on how you have the thrust levers calibrated from the software.
Why not just assign that red button to the same assignment F2 uses on the keypad to select reverse thrust just hold the button down to get full reverse then open the throttles briefly to cancel reverse. Should work on any joystick. .
@@jonbeckett First of all, thank you for your interest, I wanted to ask you what setting you made for the engine start (idle/cut), I tried a lot, I looked at which keys are assigned in airbus, but I couldn't find a solution.
@@orucmetehanmutlu It's a multi-step process - not a single function. That's probably why. You need to have power, the APU running, APU Bleed on, fuel pumps on, Ignition system to Start, and then the starters will work.
@@jonbeckett I don't expect the TCA keys to do everything, just to control those two switches under the throttle levers. I don't understand why it isn't possible (although I now see that the TCA Boeing Qudrant indeed doesn't have anything that looks like those two switches on the TCA Airbus Quadrant).
In the controller configuration - just map the function. If you check the documentation, some aircraft commonly map things to existing bindings that are unused.

You might still - because half the switches won't work :)
@@jonbeckett switches i can map to other buttons..plus i'm wating for the fenix A320 🙂
What name of controls do you have selected for the Speed Brakes and for the Flaps?
They don't work for me with any of the controls I select
I've just got it stock - the speed brake lever is assigned to the axis, and the flaps too. You have to choose the axis, not try to detect it by moving the levers.
Hi i have set button one also for reverse thrust so copying your settings, and done all the sensitivity the same, but my reverse lift up maybe 50% tops but dont come so reduce to off off any idea's?
It won't do it before the engines are running :)

Thank you as always your videos are superb 👍🏻
Sorry one other question you said about putting the Joystick sensitivity settings all to neutral, should i have this also for GA aircraft not the standard settings it has for the A320? @@jonbeckett
It only works when the engines are running.
How did you set up the flaps?
My Flaps when I use them don't go through every other notch or so it goes straight to full flaps when I just move them a little any ideas? Also the same for the spoilers?
Your throttle quadrant may be broken - I've heard this from quite a few people now. A good friend sent his back to Thrustmaster and they replaced it. Have a look in the sensitivity sliders, and see if the axis markers are moving smoothly in relation to the levers.
Great! But why is the thrust working opposite now? When the possition is on 0% the engines goes to 100% and als opposite.
You need to reverse the axis.
@@jonbeckett yes, this where my first thoughts also but even then it’s not good. Thank you anyway for a great video!
@ThePixelPascal i'm having the exact same issue
Hello Mate, thanks for this excellent video but even if I have your identical setup, reverse does not work. I do not know if last release of MSFS and PMGD changed something. Take Care.
It should
@@jonbeckett unfortunately no way to have reverse working... take care!
Hey! What sensitivity do you use for the TCA Boeing sidestick for the 737?
I flat line the sensitivity settings - no curve on it.
For some reason the engine masters won’t let me turn on the engine from cold and dark. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
You need the APU running (electricity), the fuel pumps on, and APU Bleed on (compressed air to spin up the engines). You need packs off, otherwise the cabin pressurisation system uses the compressed air you needed to start the engines :)
@@jonbeckett Okay thank you!
i cant get it working....it just to lifts the revers thrust up a bit but it wont move to max revers thrust when i slid them forward..can you help
sorry i have sorted it ....i did don't have the engine running... all great thanks
Yep - I didn't say that in the video :)
Everything is working except the reverse thrust. Do you know if the Boeing TCA throttle quadrant works natively with the PMDG 737-700?
To be honest, reverse thrust was never going to work on the Airbus quadrant, because the Boeing doesn't use one axis. I have no idea about the Boeing quadrant - sorry.
Could someone help me please? When I use the throttle, the 1st one gets stuck between 45 and 50% and I can't move it at all.
The reversers don't work unless the engines are running.
Do you have settings for the TCA Sidestick and the PMDG 737?
Yes. Only the levers are worth configuring - I have a video on it if you search for "thrustmaster" and "737" in my channel.
Yes for sure, i had removed the 1-100% axis and use the "Throttle 1 Axis" and the "Throttle 2 Axis" // "Hold Throttle Reverse Thrust" ist "Joystick button 1"
I have no idea why the throttle reversers not move with the axis when i push the button :/
@@jonbeckett ok... i had find the solution... I'm sorry, i have to test it with a working engine, not in the C&D. In the C&D they don't move... :)
@@Kopfle Oh yes - I forgot to mention that :)
How to config AirbusEdition quadrant with SkySimulations MD11 for MSFS????
I don't have the MD-11, sorry!
Can you make a video to how fix the rudder axis bug ?
I wasn't aware there was a rudder axis bug?
I used this video and it worked for about two weeks and then randomly stopped working. I've tried switching to the 0-100 option as well but nothing seems to work.
Without knowing what else you've got going on with your controls it's hard to say. I've never had an issue with it working.
Have you had CTD or freezing problems with this aircraft? I have read some comments that it have this kind of issues with MSFS...
Yes, most people get CTD and freezing with ALL aircraft. There are a myriad of reasons of it, and a lot of hoodoo spouted by people who think they know best, and end up breaking the sim or their computer, fiddling with settings they don't understand.
What key is it called to start the engine with the 737? I want to set that up
There is no single key to start the engines on a 737 - it's a sequence of procedures.
@@jonbeckett I’m talking about the keybindings for the engine start
What keybindings is it to set engine one and two on start ups
@@mb944 It isn't - I click on the starter levers with the mouse. If you check some of my 737 startup videos, I go through the startup steps required.
Just not working for myself the reverse throttle is not popping back. I keep looking for bindings. and starting from default. right now I am at a loss
Sorry, the last part of my previous post should read SENSIVITY 100%
how about the gear that you need to toggle twice that it actually retracts?
It can't be done without resorting to third party software. I've just disabled it, and use the controls in the cockpit.
Have you checked the sensitivity section of the controller configuration ?
@@jonbeckett I'll check, thanks!
what's the best settings for the TCA Airbus sidestick for the PMDG?
Erm... you don't really need any settings for it.
Does this work with the 777?
Do you by chance have the Thrustmaster TFRP pedals? I'm having issues with the rudder not working at all. I own the Airbus pack and i don't know how to fix it or how to program the twist function on the joystick to use as the rudder
I don't have the peddles. You just need to assign the axis in the controller configuration.
Has anyone tried to map the spoilers to keys or buttons? Can’t get it to work
Not yet.
Thanks for the video , what about the landing gear configuración with the TCA? Thanks And like
If you've meddled with the landing gear switch configuration, you will have to revert to a new controller profile based on the default one - the "default" profile has special sauce in the gear switch - if you alter it, it doesn't work any more. It isn't helped that the gear lever in the 737 is not a switch - it has three positions - so you're already fighting an up-hill battle with the Airbus quadrant :)
Hi Jonathan I got mine setup like you did but reverse thrust does not come up all the way any ideas? Thanks
It won't until you have the engines running.
Hello! Awesome video, how to use the quadrant for 4 engines?
Modify the control profile. I have several videos about it.
Doesn't work for me... the reverser only goes back a little bit, doesn't move back at all when moving the throttle up while holding the button down
Exactly the same for me.
Did you have the engines running at the time ?
@@jonbeckett no, does that matter? The reversers did move all the way back when using F2 key

I used the speedbrake axis on the Airbus quadrant. If you look in the controller configuration, and make a profile specifically for the 737, you should be able to re-map keys, buttons or axis as required.
Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
Good one Jon ! I had to reconfigure, reverse thrust not working to my liking. I followed your steps 🐾 but instead of using TOGA button for pressing & holding, I assigned the white selector instead, IGN/START mode. This way there’s no need to press & hold :) Just turn it back to normal when reverse thrust no longer needed.
That's a great idea!
@@jonbeckett At least in theory Jon. Didn’t have time to check it out, if it’s really practical…that’s me will tell. Just finished Sunday group flight in Western Australia 🇦🇺
A big thanks.
For some people the Throtle 1 axis and the Throtle 2 axis work and for others the only way it works is by assigning it to the (0 to 100%) depends on how you have the thrust levers calibrated from the software.
Actually it depends how your physical controller behaves.
Thank you!
You're welcome
Why not just assign that red button to the same assignment F2 uses on the keypad to select reverse thrust just hold the button down to get full reverse then open the throttles briefly to cancel reverse. Should work on any joystick.
.
It's certainly worth a try. I found a workable solution that works for me - there may be lots of other solutions too.
@@jonbeckett Yes, if the F2 key assignment works in the sim it should work on any joystick button.
My engine start keys do not work even though they are active. Airbus is working on the plane.
The start sequence (and hardware) for the 737 is very different than the Airbus - you wouldn't expect the start levers to work.
@@jonbeckett yes, as you said, I tried yesterday by installing spadnext, even the brake needs to be pulled for the starters to go down.
Do you have an idea how to get the toga button mapped?
In the controller configuration - just map the function. If you check the documentation, some aircraft commonly map things to existing bindings that are unused.
