Thank you, thank you! You just saved my day! I bought the 800 yesterday but I had no idea that there are two possible selections for each axes, one with 0-100 and one without! 🙂 Still struggling though with engaging the reversers, suddenly they go from REV to full thrust and I have to use manual breaking in panic! Still learning this beauty.
Would love to see a full flight from start to finish explaining from cold and dark to landing. Love your videos they really help me understand
I'll be doing that very soon :) I completed my first full flight last night, with ATC - I'll record one soon for UA-cam :)
@@jonbeckett plz upload im eagerly waiting...
Excellent my friend, just what I needed to know ! Bought Fenix A320 today, and got it installed. I'm using Thrustmaster TCA + pedals, so this is very useful information. I've also got the smaller version, not the quadrant (might get later)
Glad I could help!
Many thanks for this, and your other videos. I found that you can indeed use the parking brake using this format. With the PMDG 737, after releasing the parking brake you then then either hold the toe brakes or the brake button on your joystick for around 3 seconds after release of the parking brake. That will then release the brakes.
A year late for me but many thanks for this. I was pulling what little hair I have out!!
So kind of you to do all this.

Video is Helpful Sir,
Very complicated so l need to see it over and over again.
Thanks, From Ghana ,Sir.
You are most welcome
Thank the lord. I was driving myself nuts last night at like 3AM trying to figure this out.
Glad I could help
As always, helpful and precise, many thanks!
You're welcome :)
This was much needed. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Just the information I've been looking for !
Glad I could help!
@@jonbeckett Haven’t got the quadrant, got the smaller version, still information ℹ️ I was after. It felt strange flying with wrong configuration. I’ll configure tomorrow, so I get reverse thrust set correctly.
Thanks Jonathan, this might solve the problems I have with my Saitek yoke throttle quadrant.
Glad to help
@@jonbeckett Yep, it also worked with my Saitek Throttle quadrant. I shared a link to this video on the FS Forum because more members have the same question.
Thanks for this, you mentioned the parking brake doesn't work but it seems to work fine for me (other than having to hit the brakes for it to engage & disengage). The reverse works fine but I get the feeling I'll be shelling out for a Honeycomb Bravo in the future to solve this properly...
The switch on the TCA throttle works by sending the signal repeatedly. You have to be really careful about how you set it :)
This video is what I needed!
You're welcome :)
Would there any problem using the airbus stick for a boeing in x plane 12?
For anyone getting reverses idle make sure u have the aircraft’s engines up and running
I imagine PMDG will fix this in an update - it's pretty ridiculous that the throttle levers don't move properly unless the engines are running.
My engines are running but as soon as I touch the flaps or spoilers they automatically go to full any ideas?
Thank you very much for this video, I tried calibrating it myself before your video was available and it somewhat worked, but this is waaay better than what I came up with, again thank you very much this video is very helpful.
Glad it helped
Thanks! Fixed the throttles and reversers, but no efftect on the flaps or speed brake. At least I've now have made some progress in the 737 mapping.
It's tricky, isn't it. I just have various lever axis mapped - you may have to play with reversing them, perhaps ?
I actually managed to get it to work on the 0-100% keybind. I also didn't use a Hold/Toggle Reversers keybind. With a little luck playing around with the sensitivity I got it to go from 0-100% throttle without the need to have it in the reverse detent. And when you put it in the reverse detent, it infact goes into reverse thrust.
Maybe share it next time…😅

You can get the gear working:
Landing gear:
"Set Gear" to Joystick 21 on press
"Gear Up" to Joystick 21 on press
"Gear Down" to Joystick 21 on release
Parking brake:
"Toggle Parking Brake" to Joystick 20 on press
If reversers are too powerful, enable virtual buttons on quadrant.
If you want commonly used flap settings on your detents for T/O and Landing:
Messing with sensitivity on the flaps you can make it take detents at 5 degrees and 30 degrees so you dont go to wrong flaps during landing and takeoff:
Joystick L axis Z = Sensitivity - -25% and Sensitivity + +50%
Yes - but the gear on the 737 should be set to off after its travelled...
What name of controls do you have selected for the Speed Brakes and for the Flaps?
They don't work for me with any of the controls I select
I've just got it stock - the speed brake lever is assigned to the axis, and the flaps too. You have to choose the axis, not try to detect it by moving the levers.
Sure would be nice if you could take on the a320nx. your explanations are so easy to understand. thank you.
I have several videos looking at the a320s
saved my day thanks so much

Do you by chance have the Thrustmaster TFRP pedals? I'm having issues with the rudder not working at all. I own the Airbus pack and i don't know how to fix it or how to program the twist function on the joystick to use as the rudder
I don't have the peddles. You just need to assign the axis in the controller configuration.
what about the Auto Brake Switch ? Do you have a hint to use the switch. My settings does`nt work from Disarm to Hi postion.
None of it will work properly on the Airbus quadrant, because none of the switch gear is the same.
Can you show me or tell me how you have your gear mapped to that throttle quadrant? I cannot get mine to retract at all and cannot find a fix.... Thanks
There are two things in play here - firstly, if you have already meddled with the gear bindings, you will have broken the profile for the Airbus quadrant (if you're using one) - it has "special sauce" in the default profile. That's irrelevant though - the airbus quadrant isn't really compatible with the 737, because the 737 gear lever has three positions. You'll just have to unbind it for the moment, and either use G on the keyboard, or move the lever in the cockpit with the mouse.
jonathan .thank you so much for this.i almost bought the boeing throttle 🙂
You might still - because half the switches won't work :)
@@jonbeckett switches i can map to other buttons..plus i'm wating for the fenix A320 🙂
Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
I have a bravo throttle quadrant but the speed brakes won’t work for the pmdg your airbus throttle what do you set up on the controls for speed brakes what key do you use ?
I used the speedbrake axis on the Airbus quadrant. If you look in the controller configuration, and make a profile specifically for the 737, you should be able to re-map keys, buttons or axis as required.
My Flaps when I use them don't go through every other notch or so it goes straight to full flaps when I just move them a little any ideas? Also the same for the spoilers?
Your throttle quadrant may be broken - I've heard this from quite a few people now. A good friend sent his back to Thrustmaster and they replaced it. Have a look in the sensitivity sliders, and see if the axis markers are moving smoothly in relation to the levers.
Also when I go half throttle it won’t let me turn the front wheel of PMDG 737-700
I like to know that, when we are in the preset manager to creating new profile, what is the difference when we creating new profile from "+" Add OR using "Copy" method???
Copy/Duplicate copies whatever profile you have selected.
THANKS!!!!
Everything is working except the reverse thrust. Do you know if the Boeing TCA throttle quadrant works natively with the PMDG 737-700?
To be honest, reverse thrust was never going to work on the Airbus quadrant, because the Boeing doesn't use one axis. I have no idea about the Boeing quadrant - sorry.
Hi Jonathan I got mine setup like you did but reverse thrust does not come up all the way any ideas? Thanks
It won't until you have the engines running.
Thank you!
You're welcome
THANK YOU!!!!
You're welcome!
Hey! What sensitivity do you use for the TCA Boeing sidestick for the 737?
I flat line the sensitivity settings - no curve on it.
What did you do for your flaps to work because I’m trying to calibrate mine but it doesn’t work at all
Start with the default profile.
Thank you for the video, Jonathan! Interesting because if I don't use 0-100% throttle then it won't go all the way back to idle, it only works fine when using 0-100%. Also, PMDG told me that 0-100 must be used. I'm a bit confused as to why mine is not working the regular throttle axis as shown in your video.
Have you checked the sensitivity section of the controller configuration ?
@@jonbeckett I'll check, thanks!
Good one Jon ! I had to reconfigure, reverse thrust not working to my liking. I followed your steps 🐾 but instead of using TOGA button for pressing & holding, I assigned the white selector instead, IGN/START mode. This way there’s no need to press & hold :) Just turn it back to normal when reverse thrust no longer needed.
That's a great idea!
@@jonbeckett At least in theory Jon. Didn’t have time to check it out, if it’s really practical…that’s me will tell. Just finished Sunday group flight in Western Australia 🇦🇺
Hi Jonathan. Can you tell me what monitor you're using ,is it 4k only my monitor isn't as clear as yours. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Alan
I see the simulator in 4K - but then it is down-rated to 1080p for UA-cam by OBS (screen capture software). If I switched the monitor to a "normal" monitor, it would be a LOT smoother - at the moment I'm really pushing against the limit of the GPU to both display AND record at the same time in Ultra.
Thank You!😄
You're welcome 😊
how about the gear that you need to toggle twice that it actually retracts?
The gear level in the 737 is incompatible with the Airbus quadrant - you're better off removing the binding entirely, and using the mouse in the cockpit.
I have a problem with parking brakes. There is a new way to do it but I can't set it. There is always a heavy noise from the cockpit like if you were writing on an old type writer. And when GSX ask to release parking brakes for pushback, I cannot go anywhere because I can't release them. Any solution with TCA? I have CH rudder pedals but one cable is cut and I can't use them. :|
Hold the wheel brakes on for a second, then you can set the parking brake while they are on. This is accurate to the real aircraft.
If I configure it for Boeing 787 in P3D will it upset the A330 configuration already configured ?
That's why you can duplicate the profiles, and rename them.
Do you have an idea how to get the toga button mapped?
In the controller configuration - just map the function. If you check the documentation, some aircraft commonly map things to existing bindings that are unused.
what's the best settings for the TCA Airbus sidestick for the PMDG?
Erm... you don't really need any settings for it.
Thank you very much
You are welcome
Can you map the Eng 1 and 2 switches to the pmdg 737 cutoff switches?
?
Random queston but do you use this quadrent when flying the smaller planes too? I am looking at options and want to start at the beginning and essentially learn to fly and work my way to the big boys, but wondering if its worth getting the gear for bigger aircraft so I can use it from the start as I progress, if that makes sense? What you reckon?
Yes - I use the Airbus quadrant for everything (I don't have anything else)
Hi,
Can we see all other mappings related to the quadrant?
thank you
The only things I've done is disconnect the parking brake, and the undercarriage lever (remove their mappings).
Do you have settings for the TCA Sidestick and the PMDG 737?
Yes. Only the levers are worth configuring - I have a video on it if you search for "thrustmaster" and "737" in my channel.
For some people the Throtle 1 axis and the Throtle 2 axis work and for others the only way it works is by assigning it to the (0 to 100%) depends on how you have the thrust levers calibrated from the software.
Actually it depends how your physical controller behaves.
It is possible to obtain 5 degr flaps in the first notch by playing a bit with sensitivity of the flap axis. Further I have notch2 = 15 degr, notch3= 25 degr and notch4 = 40 degr
Yep - I wouldn't worry too much though.
Thanks!
No problem! Thanks for the 'Super Thanks'
Obrigado amigo! Me ajudou muito!

Hi i have set button one also for reverse thrust so copying your settings, and done all the sensitivity the same, but my reverse lift up maybe 50% tops but dont come so reduce to off off any idea's?
It won't do it before the engines are running :)
@@jonbeckett ahh thank you, I need to study this plane anyway my head is frazzled as I’m use to the A32NX and simbrief making it very easy now just love the cockpit details on the PMDG 737
Thank you as always your videos are superb 👍🏻
Sorry one other question you said about putting the Joystick sensitivity settings all to neutral, should i have this also for GA aircraft not the standard settings it has for the A320? @@jonbeckett
Jonathan I am so drilled from all of your tutorials. As you present them it is just brilliant. I do not know how many other see this, but this is personal statement, and of course I always learn something new.
However, the parking break is not working in the cockpit, n of course I deleted, eliminated the function in the control options.
The other think is; how gonna be functional the reversers trust at landing, (actually after landing)?, I confusing on this? I did set up the thrust as you did and how gonna works the revers thrust? Would you explain this revers thrust Pls. Thanks
The break in the 737 is a bit unique. You have to hold the wheelbreaks on, then you can set the parking break.
On about the reversers, they only work when you're travelling - they don't work at a stand-still.
Hello, i had follow your instructions point for point. But when i push the Joy BTN 1 (red button on the thrust) the reversers make only a small move. I can't move the reversers with the axis. Do you have an idea why?
Did you configure it on the correct axis in the controller configuration? I've seen that happen, but only when the axis were configured on the 0-100 settings. You have to REMOVE the assignments from the 0-100, otherwise both will happen.
@@jonbeckett Thanks for the fast answer.
Yes for sure, i had removed the 1-100% axis and use the "Throttle 1 Axis" and the "Throttle 2 Axis" // "Hold Throttle Reverse Thrust" ist "Joystick button 1"
I have no idea why the throttle reversers not move with the axis when i push the button :/
@@jonbeckett ok... i had find the solution... I'm sorry, i have to test it with a working engine, not in the C&D. In the C&D they don't move... :)
@@Kopfle Oh yes - I forgot to mention that :)
Hi Jonathan, as you may remember, I've recently received my Airbus Captains TCA kit, just one point and it's with ref to your comment about the red button for TOGA, in your video at 2.25 you can see the TOGA button on the throttle, the buttons on the 737 throttle as ref to where the red ones are on the TCA kit, these are the Auto Throttle disconnect buttons. This is really only for those very new to the 737. But again as I'm getting into using the TCA kit, this is a superb video on setting the TCA kit up. I'm trying to find out where the calibration files are in MSFS, I've found them before and edited them but can't find them again, any ideas?
I just use the control profile sensitivity settings, and then the controller calibration (it's in the PMDG menu, in the FMC).
I found the files, I had seen a guide to where they are but couldn't find it. Just used a Dos command to find them
Hi can you please tell us how to make the engine start possible on TCA Throttle Quadrant what I mean is when you press ignition start on the TCA Throttle Quadrant you will trigger the switch on the overhead panel engine start GRD and also is we can make the fuel cut off switch make working on the TCA Throttle Quadrant for Pmdg aircraft I would like to start the engine in my 737 without clicking the mouse on the overhead panel I hope you or somebody else can explain this to me ,but please don't say I need the span next for that or different fcuipc module
Does this work with the 777?
hello thank you for very professional video. For 2 days my 2 ENG1/ENG2 joysticks at the foot of the stall, when I mount them to start the 2 engines (engine 2 sequence then engine 1) they come down on their own. I even (for tests) unplugged my TCSA airbus thrusmater (which of course works FBW) nothing helps the 2 controllers come down on their own immediately.
Do you have an idea? of course my PMDG is up to date with the latest version.
Thanks for your reply just in case.
Make sure nothing else is mapped to the function or the axis.
@@jonbeckett merci beaucoup je vais essayer
Have you had CTD or freezing problems with this aircraft? I have read some comments that it have this kind of issues with MSFS...
Yes, most people get CTD and freezing with ALL aircraft. There are a myriad of reasons of it, and a lot of hoodoo spouted by people who think they know best, and end up breaking the sim or their computer, fiddling with settings they don't understand.
Thank youuuuuuuuuuu
You're welcome.
Thanks for the comprehensive tutorial. I do not understand if the levers of the TCA thrust reversers always remain raised and in this case how to do it, to me they always return to the locked position and lowered. Maybe I missed something.
It's a bit broken with an Airbus controller - to see them move, you have to have the engines running.
@@jonbeckett I think he means, on the Airbus quadrant, the reversers are spring loaded, and to pull the throttle all the way back, you have to manually flip the reversers to get the full range of motion. On your video, you've rigged it so that they stay upright, allowing full motion of the quadrant.
@@Bryanlbasil Yes - I have. I then hold a button down for reverse thrust - which is the only sensible way I've found of configuring it for the airbus quadrant with the Boeing.
The parking brake button does not work. Can you tell me how can i set up it? Thanks!
Yep - I'm guessing you have the Throttle Quadrant - hardly any of the switches will behave in a predictable manner - no matter how hard you try - because the 737 doesn't work in the same way as an Airbus. You have to use the switch in the cockpit and unbind the controller.
Has anyone tried to map the spoilers to keys or buttons? Can’t get it to work
Not yet.
How to config AirbusEdition quadrant with SkySimulations MD11 for MSFS????
I don't have the MD-11, sorry!
Can you make a video to how fix the rudder axis bug ?
I wasn't aware there was a rudder axis bug?
Thank you bu5 I find the fenix a320 needs the axis without 0-100
Yep - different aircraft work in different ways. Thats why you can have multiple controller profiles.
Thanks very much for your instructive video! I'm still struggling with the gear lever. I cannot get it programmed right for the gear-up function i.e the lever goes up but the green en red indicators stay on. So when i then move it down again and shortly after that up, it generally works but it is not rock solid. Do you have found a clue?
It can't be done without resorting to third party software. I've just disabled it, and use the controls in the cockpit.
About reverse thrust, I just found out that with your solution the reverse thrust is limited to about 75%. In the default controller setting there is full reverse thrust but difficult to control however. I think PMDG/Asobo have to do some work here.
n.b. Instead of "Hold Throttle Reverse Thrust", "Decrease Throttle" can also be used which gives a bit more power but still not full.
I have also bound "Autothrottle Disconnect" to button 1 (as in the real aircraft) and it combines well the "Decrease Throttle" function.
@@NowIsGold it's odd... I get full reverse thrust - but only while the engines are running. The alternative is just to use the keyboard to go full reverse. The controller really isn't compatible with the throws needed for the aircraft.
@@jonbeckett Strange such different results. The keyboard is no option for me since I'm flying solely in VR. But anyway, 80% RT for the time being is sufficient in in most cases I think.
Thanks for the video , what about the landing gear configuración with the TCA? Thanks And like
If you've meddled with the landing gear switch configuration, you will have to revert to a new controller profile based on the default one - the "default" profile has special sauce in the gear switch - if you alter it, it doesn't work any more. It isn't helped that the gear lever in the 737 is not a switch - it has three positions - so you're already fighting an up-hill battle with the Airbus quadrant :)
My flaps lever is really weird, it used to work before like yours, if I put it between 1 and 2 it puts flaps 5 but now it goes down all the way, and if I go up 2 steps it goes up to the top, could you help me out?
No idea - sorry - if in doubt, always revert to the default profile.
@@jonbeckett I'll try that, thank you!
the reverse thrust part doesn't work for me. I set it to the same button as you, I'm holding it down, and moving the throttles and it just jumps a little but it doesn't move.
It only works when the engines are running.
how do you do the reverser button, i did it but it only toggles and i move the throttle but it doesnt move
You have to use the hold binding - not the toggle binding.

Sweet! Do the throttle cutoff levers work as well? If so, do you know what they’re labeled in controls options?
I use the mouse on everything else - there are numerous switches in the Boeing cockpit that don't suit the Airbus controller.
@@jonbeckett Thanks for the reply, Jon. I can’t get those fuel cutoff switches programmed for the life of me, I guess it just isn’t to be.
How do you ensure that your reverser tabs are always pulled up?
They only work properly when the engines are running. There are bugs in the implementation of the axis - especially when using the Airbus quadrant (which isn't designed to operate Boeing levers at all).
@@jonbeckett I understand haha, I meant in real life. The physical tabs I see on your camera POV seem always raised. Do I remove the detents for that?
Hello! Awesome video, how to use the quadrant for 4 engines?
Modify the control profile. I have several videos about it.
For the Flaps on the TCA I've mapped JOYSTICK L-AXIS Z to ... Sensitivity- 50%, Sensitivity+ 0%, Dead Zone 0%, Neutral 19%, Extremity Dead Zone 0%, and Reactivity 100%, and that gives me flap detents 1, 5, 15, and 40. Still messing around with it.
Another option would be to remove the detent hardware from the lever (it's easy to do - it's designed for it) - then mark the positions on the axis with Dymo labels or something :)
I did the same as you, and the flaps jump from 0 to 40
What about the landing gear?
You have to use the controls in the cockpit :)
when I hold the reverse button and push the throttle up, it only goes to less than quarter of the way then stops so I am only getting round 10% reverse thrust
Have you checked the sensitivity curves for the throttles ?
