How to setup the Airbus TCA Throttle Quadrant for the PMDG 737 and 777 - MSFS 2020

- In todays video I walk you through how I have my Thrustmaster TCA Throttle Quadrants configured to work with the PMDG Boeing 737. I use the PMDG Boeing 737-800, but it should work for all variants. I also remain hopeful that this will work with the upcoming 777 from PMDG, but time will tell on that one!
I use the “Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus Edition” joystick when I fly Airbus and the "Thrustmaster TCA Yoke Boeing Editing" when I'm flying Boeing, or anything that uses a yoke, along with the “Thrustmaster TCA QUADRANT AIRBUS Edition” throttle quadrant with a set of Logitech Flight Rudder Pedals.

Wow! FINALLY. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to get this to work and now my reversers are working just like they would in the Airbus which makes it so much easier! Just tested this on a rejected take off and everything worked perfectly! Thank you!
Thanks! This helped me a lot, not only for Boeing but other aircrafts without detend and having a more fluid throttle
Love the “agnostic” setup - makes practical sense!
Tell that to the commenters 😅
Subscribed so instantly! Thank you for clear and concise explanations. Keep bringing us more contents like this.
Thank you kindly! Maybe catch you in a live stream soon 🙂
This is so much helpful! The default only work for an Airbus, not 738. Love it! Thank you!
You made the right video for me at the right moment. You saved me a lot of work! Thx, mate! 😎👍🏻
No problem! Glad it could help 👍
Simple but effective video. As they should be my friend. This works like a charm. Bravo!
Awesome! Happy flying!
That works perfectly for me on PMDG 737 and Horizon 787-9, thanks and Happy 2024!
Glad to hear it. You too!
Thanks so much, I would never have figured this out by myself.
No problem, glad it helped 👍
Thank you so much, super effective and well explained! Saludos from Spain!
You’re welcome!
Thanks!! This helped me get my throttle setup.
No problem! Glad it helped
Thank you! Helped me alot! :)
Thanks for this! I really needed it!
You’re welcome!
Very efficient. Functional. Tanks
Very well explained. Thanks for your efforts.
Cheers Andy!
Thanks, great instruction video!
Can confirm this works! great videos!
Thanks! Glad it worked out for you
Very good tutorial.
As I am sure you are aware, you can adjust the sensitivity so that Reverse Thrust is not always at 100%, it can be graduated exactly as you want by where you put the levers in reverse thrust, exactly like the forward thrust.
Thx for sharing ! I thought you've done one of these videos in the past..anyway, must check your approach :)
I spoke about it briefly in my setup tour, but never went into the details of setting up the finer details. Thanks for watching!
Absolutely nothing wrong with your set up using yoke and airbus throttle some people just love a good moan mate. Keep up the great work 👍🏻
Well said
massive thank you
Great video yet again sir. 😊
Cheers! How’s that internet holding up?
@@AirNOTT we managed a stream this morning and tonight without any problem so fingers crossed it’s fixed.
Works great on the tfdi md11!
Thats very helpful, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Brilliantly good explanation. Thx
Thanks, Robert!
wow, thank you so much. It works perfectly.
Glad it helped!
Good job !! Thank you too much !!
Tried so many tutorials for this issue! Found one that semi worked but not happy with it. Never seen it done like this before. Look forward to trying it when I get back!! Thanks as always 😁👍🏻
Enjoy the sunshine!
THE BEST VIDEO ... I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU MAN
🫡
this is everything ty
I did everything as in the video, but the reverse does not work for me. It activates literally by 9% and then to switch to gas, I need to click the mouse in the cabin itself
It does work, but it seems that you have to start the engine to see it working entirely. The reversers won't work when you are on cold and dark on the apron.
Did you fix the problem with reverse?
@@molotkovdmitry Yes, the problem was that I checked when the plane was not in motion. As soon as I accelerated and turned on the reverse, everything worked
Thank you for this. My only issue now is that I have to check reverse axis to make it go in the correct direction, whenever I'm out of reverse thrust my plane shoots forward for some reason, and everytime I exit the menu back into the game no matter where the stick is, it's always full power.
Tks !!
Hi, great vid many thanks. Do you have you engine buttons and engine crank switch setup at all with the 737?
ABOUT THE DETENTS!!
If you want to remove them, you can find 2 plastic pieces under the quadrant held in with two screws each. They are right under the actual levers themselves.
You can un-screw these and remove the detents as a whole.
When you want them back, just simply screw them back in. The ridges should be facing up towards where the levers would be at 100% throttle
Yep, very true. Though i switch between Boeing and Airbus quite a lot so it may get annoying switching them out
Thanks again for your Boeing profile. I have bought the Black Square Turbine Duke and cannot set up my TCA Airbus panel to work properly with reverse prop pitch. Do you have any advice on this. Thanks Paul
Thanks a lot for this video. I tested it for the PMDG 777/Msfs and it works. One Question. Did you also have a instruction for the engine start with the Thrustmaster Airbus TCA?
No, but that’ll be coming soon. Got a video planned with spad.next
Oh my god ive been looking for this I want to buy one but im just in deep doubt that it will work with boeing thank you so much i sir im subs
You’re welcome! Thanks for the sub 🙂
you are legend!!! ..great explanation, but can you tell me how the hell did you figure out that is button 12 and 16 :)?
I forget where I saw it, a forum post months ago I think. Didn’t seem like many knew so figured I’d share
Tried every setting as is, the throttle didnt move an inch though in settings the bar moved...
I am not sure what I am doing wrong, I have your exact setting but it not fully registering like yours in the video. Its almost if I need to calibrate it with the 737 but nothing in the menu.
@AirNOTT have you ever run across where the 737 throttles with TCA Airbus become unresponsive? Like when you hit reverse it doesn't do anything no movement from the throttles in-game?
I have the bigger airbus throttle pack with the speedbrake and flaps etc however the auto brakes and as you may have noticed engine starters dont work on the boeing and if it does I haven't found a way to do it
I keep meaning to try spad.next to see if that can hook in with it
Thanks for the video. Just recieved my airbus trhottle quadrant but i have problems binding the right axis. IIn the windows device manager i have turned on the virtual buttons option.
I copied a profile to PMDG. Once in the 737 i can move the throttle up and down and in game same happens until i activate the reverse thrust on the trustmaster quadrant, the PMDG throttles get stuck. Once i delete the binding in MSFS i cannot rebind the throttles as i can only bind buttons...Can you explain how you mapped engines 3 and 4 to the quadrant?
New Vid who this!
Hi there, I am using Airbus throttles for PMDG 738 which is set up following your settings. I noticed when thrust reverse goes to idle thrust my auto brakes disarms. Would greatly appreciate your help on this. Thank you!
I've found your video a lot different from others on UA-cam, specially thrust and reverse setup and sensibility. In any case i'm testing it now. I'd like too a way to use the Eng on/off of Tca Throttle quadrant for cutoff option ( when reaching 25%), do you believe possible? Many and many thanks
I haven’t tried it, though I wonder if spad.next could help. I’ll make a video on it if it’s turns out well
Hello! Thank you for your video. I did everything like you said but reverse thrust doesn't work... Idk why... Can you help me please?
Sweet! Do the fuel cutoff switches work as well? If so, do you know what they’re actually called in Controls Options?
It’s my understanding you need something like spad.next for that
@@AirNOTT Ok, thanks! Maybe I’ll fart around with that this weekend.
I did all you said in the video and it works but I have an issue where one of the levers on the 737 randomly rolls back without me touching it especially when setting toga thrust dont know whats happening anyone can help?
Do you mind showing your binds for the Airbus add-on pack? Just got them and can't seem to get the spoilers to map correctly!
All default I believe.
so when i uncheck my reverse axis to show like yours everything works backwards, but when i check my reverse axis then my reverse does not work?
Hey man just a question will this mess up the settings for the Fenix if I switch back to the Fenix?
If you make a profile for the Fenix and a profile for the Boeing you should be able to switch between them without them conflicting
Can you help me setup the Airbus TCA Throttle Quadrant for the A340? I'm using your settings for the 4 engines (and only dual throttles on the thrustmaster) but I cannot for the life of me get them in cl, flex togo etc. i'm going crazy here.
My Axis is not in sync with the plane. When the TCA is in idle the throttle in the plane is still at about 25%
What am i missing? Thanks!
Does the pmdg 737 still work properly if you have a side stick? (before anyone says just buy a yoke, I don’t have a lot of room and I don’t really want to buy one for 1 aircraft)
Yeah you can fly with a side stick, I did for many months before getting the yoke.
How to set reverse on the throttle axis?
Everything else works fine but my throttles wont fo toga they get stuck at 89% thrust any known fix. I have copied your exact settings
Why does my rudder not work when twisting the sidestick, it has no movement for rudder
Does anyone know what the button 12 and 16 would be on xbox
I am really desperate... I have seen this tutorial and other one which are same settings, but even if I follow 100% all the steps, its not working for me - the IDLE to TOGA works fine, when I engage REV buttons and move to REV, PMDG will respon with REV idle (first position) and then its stuck here no matter what... I have to click with mouse to the REV lever in order to get the throttle back in control :(
same here any fix?
Same for me. The reverse does not fully engage, but then the levels stay stuck in one position and nothing moves. I created my setup by duplicating the default.
Why i've got the problem that my boeing is only going into "idle" thrust reverse? I think i've done everything like you explained in the video :(
Same here, got the same problem
id doesnt work for me, once the reverse levers go up they dont move anymore in sim
Nice Video, I almost got it working, however the reversers in the aircraft gets stuck (id say about 20 percent extended) when I enable reverse thrust on my physical throttle. I did bind Buttons 12 and 16 to Thottle 1/2 Decrease. The only way I can unstuck it is by manuelly resetting the thrust reverse levers inside the aircraft.
Did something similar happen to any of you and does anybody know how I can fix that problem?
Maybe there is a setting inside the aircraft that I missed?
I managed to work around this by mapping button 12 and 16 to Throttle cut, but only on Button Release (instead of Button Press).
@@Marco-vp1fy Thanks for your reply, but the Issue has actually fixed itself: It seems that the thrust reverse freeze only occurs on ground / when parking. I have flown about 3 approaches and it worked everytime without a problem.
Reverse thrusters not working when i assign button 12/16. any idea whats happening
Same. It was working before and suddenly it stopped working. Any fix @AirNOTT ?
No idea! Mine still works fine, sorry!
for the 777-300ER: It works fine until i actually go into Reverse, then i seem to stay stuck in reverse and cannot get out of it anymore
Weird, I’ve heard people say the same but it’s not an issue I can replicate
i have the issue that my throttle isnt using the full length of the quadrant, idle position on the quadrant is in the sim at 30-40%, full reverse on the quadrant is idle in the sim how do i fix this?
You need to calibrate your throttle in the aircraft.
@@stepfordgames5096 you cant calibrate in the PMDG
Does this work with the yoke too ? For the 737 -800 cause recently got one
The Boeing yoke would work alongside airbus throttles without issue, if that’s what you mean?
Yea beacuse I do want the airbus thrustmaster soon @@AirNOTT
Do you have any ideas for Boeing throttle setup for airbus?
Afraid not, never had the Boeing throttle. Sorry!
Do you know if flying the 737 with the airbus joystick would work instead of the yoke?
I used to fly 737 using the stick for several months before getting the yoke
@@AirNOTT So it works fine then?
Do you have the Fenix. Having issues with the calibration
I do indeed.
@@AirNOTT having issues with the detent on rev/idle. It seens to be same
do you have any settings for the airbus tca joystick for the 737
I don’t thing I made any changes to the stick beyond the defaults. What are you struggling with?
when i try to use the the airbus sidestick whith the 737 the yoke won't move
also whe i try to put the revers trust to idle it won't go to idle and in won't go full revers and once i put it to reverse it won't go to idle
For some reason my throttle randomly increases speed to full throttle when taxiing
Sadly the reverse thrust does not work
Anyone else having the issue of the throttle decrease option not showing up? Help?
You don’t have it filtering only assigned inputs? (on the left hand side of the screen)
@@AirNOTT ohhhh… Thanks a ton!
@@CaptainCarter1 no problem, happy flying!
It all worked apart from once I put it in reverse, it's stuck there..? Any ideas mate? I can just tap F3 to take it out of reverse but can't figure out a way to fix it
same here any fix?
@@kingbarnab344 I did fix it but I’m not sure how, I have a feeling it’s because I tried it with nothing turned on on the aircraft because after that comment I did a flight and it all worked fine. Not sure how it would make a difference but it did
@@Brad_1511 thx will give it a try
omg thank you so much it works now@@Brad_1511
@@kingbarnab344 so? It works for you?
Great video but I’ll never be able to afford it.
What if when I plug it in pc it says the Last USB device you connected malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it? Please help
Try a different usb port? Make sure your drivers are up to date. Your unit could also be faulty I guess
@AirNOTT it was the unit thanks for help
reverse thrust does not work for me with those settings and sensitivity
And you did the button 12 / 16 thing?
@@AirNOTT yes
Anyone else here had the issue that it selects reverse but then doesn't come back out of reverse when moving the throttle levers back to idle? Only way i can get it out of reverse is by moving the levers in the cockpit with my mouse!
SAME!
@@toastedtea I figured it out in the end, turns out you have to have engines running! I was trying to set it up with the engines off and it wouldn’t work. As soon as I fired engines up it all worked beautifully
My maximum throttle is only 60% when my throttle is at max
doesnt work at all man, for me when i go back to idle the reverse move a notch and then get stuck. Same exact settings as yours
You’ve set the sensitivity curves too? Make sure you don’t have any other controls mapped to the throttles also
@@AirNOTT yeah set the curves and no others are mapped to the throttle
You can disable the detents really easy
Having to flip over your throttle, and then have to screw it out and in everytime is a pain, especially when u can just push thru the detents.
Why make it so complicated with the b747 and b737 etc etc, just make a new one and concentrate on b7373 , it's so fucking confusing tbh
It’s really not lol
i copied you and have the same quadrant it does not work at all
Try giving this a shot. Flip the quadrant over and remove the 8 black screws that hold the black plastic tabs into place. Remove those tabs and flip them around. This will then remove all the detents from the quadrant. You can then lock the reversers into the upright potion which allows you use to the full range of the throttles. I then simply bind the left side "auto throttle" button aka the red button on the left engine throttle. So that if you press and hold it.. It'll activate the reverse thrust. This also then allows full range of both the throttles allowing you to not just 100% reverse when not needed. You would need to create a separate profile for Boeing and Airbus in msfs and would need to unscrew the tabs each time. But I found you can do that while the sim is loading up.
I got it work now thank you so much for this video your the best!
This is why xplane is a million times better its simple af to setup throttle and reverse thrust
