The part that made my day: 1:53 - petting your dog... and his/her reaction. Who's a good Co-Pilot? YOU are a good co-pilot! So absolutely adorable. Oh - yes - and the review is awesome - of course it is. Always good to see someone doing a review who knows what they're talking about :) Cheers from Germany!
A big thank you Captain for an excellent video and review of the Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke and Throttle! It was absolutely fascinating to watch something that passengers never get to see, namely the pilot in command controlling all the inputs on the yoke and the interaction with the throttles. It was a great tutorial on manually flying a Boeing 738 and a great pleasure to watch! I've said it before but you are truly a first class training Captain! If only I was in the position in the real world to benefit from it! Keep up the good work, Sir! Lovely to see Jack! What a beautiful fella he is!
They are affordable compared to similar high end gear, which is usually from small custom manufacturers and hard to get. And a lot of their new gear is way better than other consumer grade products! I just got their TPR pendular rudder pedals, amazing feel, feels very similar to the Cessna 172 I train on! (Just lighter resistance, like most home sim gear) All metal, brilliant quality construction - this is not the Thrustmaster of old I remember making crappy gear! I am very happy to see Thrustmaster improve like this
Your "play by play" commentary is incredibly interesting for a guy like me who has no flying experience and recently got into flight simming. It's all so foreign sounding (the terminology, that is), but feel like I'm learning a bit via osmosis through this video. Thank you!
Cheers Stephen! We'll get you up and running on VATSIM flying realistic sectors from A to B in no time! First time I've had an osmosis reference on any video, I have a somewhat hazy recollection of something involving potatoes and tissue paper from some Biology experiment at school! FD2S
Osmosis, lol. A lot like that rubik's cube sitting on my desk with the cross on top, and corresponding color (to white) sitting next to center on each face? And hoping that one day I'll figure it out before I have to pull the stickers. That's osmos :D
Review aside, I'd love to see some more videos with the camera on your inputs. It's really nice to see how many small adjustments you make throughout the flight. I thought in such a large aircraft you wouldn't need to worry about them as much as you do in a 172 for example!
Nicely done on flying a raw data ILS, manual thrust, talking and evaluating, spinning heading and speed bugs. For those of you who don't know, as mentioned, this is a 2 pilot jet, so we depend on knowing our specific duties as PF (Pilot Flying) and PM (Pilot Monitoring). When you are doing everything including talking, teaching, and evaluating, it becomes quite busy flying a desktop PC Simulation. Also, the simulators and feel are usually more sensitive than the real jet or simulator. The lack of Elevator Feel also provides more of a feel challenge for a real Boeing pilot. So, as our Captain demonstrated, and you can see this type of flying on my channel as well, it is actually not an easy task. I appreciate the effort and professionalism of making it look easy, when in fact our eyes, inputs, and tasking are really moving : ), nice job!
Great review, thanks, watched many reviews tonight on this yoke and am about to purchase, just the yoke though, well served with other gear for throttles and rudders ETC ... Thanks, great review. Colin
Also, please add the provided TM 4th spring, and test again, many folk have done 737 experience days and found adding the 4th TM spring helps replicated the experience more accurately. Thanks again and superb review. Colin
Please pay attention to the position of the spring below, otherwise it will hit the baffle and cause a jam. Turning on a steep slope, because the roll causes the pitch arm to change.
I can't believe how so CUTE Jack is! What a great co-pilot. You should show video snippets of him at the beginning or end of every video. Those clouds 13:41 are rubbish. I do like the yoke cam you could integrate into the corner of your streams. The other corner could be co-pilot Jack cam.
Thank you! Yes the clouds have a strange effect when turning, causing some blurriness. I had to use the high performance version to save some performance but my new PC should be here soon, looking at the option for a webcam during streams (the setup for this video was using a large ring light and Sony digital camera so wouldn't work! Found this channel and video in my recommended videos section. Great review. Now you got me wondering when you said you’re a 737 pilot in the UK if you fly for Ryanair. I can’t wait to see more content from you. Subscribed.
I imagine this'd be a really good yoke to pair with the newer Honeycomb Bravo for the complete "Commercial Flight" experience at the desktop, since the Honeycomb Alpha yoke is a little too... "Cesna-y"?
A year ago I was able to get in an actual 737 simulator at a mall in another country. I managed to land the plane successfully at the old Hong Kong airport (Kai tak), banked VFR approach over the city to avoid the mountains. Besides riding in the back, the only flying experience I have is flying WW1/WW2 combat computer simulations. Of course i had an actual pilot sitting in the 2nd seat handling the checklist/ instruments. He barely spoke English. )) I had a blast.
RE Reverse thust FD2S. In FS2020 there is a "Toggle reverse thrust" or similar which does what it says so if you assign those reverser levers to Toggle revers thrust you should then be able to modulate the reverse thrust with the thrust levers. I use that setup on the FBW A320neo, works a treat as long as you remember you can only set reverse when the trottles are at idle.Jack's gorgeous, I'll have to kidnap him LOL
Thanks for the info, same in XP11, didn’t want to select that option though as it won’t look right adding REV thrust by moving the levers forward! FD2S

Very nice video my old friend👏👏👏 it's been a while since I've been on your channel. In the meantime I have become a real pilot myself and do not play XP11 anymore. Are you part of the PMDG 737 test team for the MSFS? Looking forward to the release sometime early next year. Gonna be lots of fun flying the PMDG 737 in MSFS with that Thrustmaster TCA Yoke for sure. Thanks for the great video Captain 👍
As I watched the video I tried to guess how much that yoke and quadrant would cost.... I guessed at £700, so at £450 I'm just going to have to buy one! Thanks for a very comprehensive review.
Hi Capt. I bought it at the end , but is not coming with "plug and play" since I had to configure it and apparently the landing gear doesn't work nicely I have to recycle a couple of times before I can but down again, any suggestions how to fix it ? Thanks so much
Very good review. Very interesting take on the comparison to real life; I learned quite a bit about the actual Boeing flight model as well as what you are actually focusing on during your scan. Thank you.
is that yoke force feedback? I watched this video with no sound as I was also watching a football game at the time. From the looks of it after lift off, it appeared to be jerking like there was turbulence on the wings
How to canect the throttle control to the simulator but yoke is working while canecting to the pc but the throttle is not working, so please help me out how to canect the throttle to the pc simulator
I returnet my yoke due to deadzone on x and y axis... For me a joystick for flightsims can not have deadzone. And it was not after firmware update possible to remove deadzone. Very disapointing to me and only option was to return the product and get back my money...
Your videos are always excellent instruction. I just purchased the Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke and Quadrant and I would be very interested in your button assignment video when you release it.
Wasn't planning to get this, but after this review and seeing your yoke cam in streams, I think I will be putting it on the list once the PMDG 737 is released.
Does someone knows how to fix the reversers on The Thrustmaster quadrant? since the last update of MSFS2020 i've been having this problem and its that the reverse thrust is not working for me.
Can someone tell me if I purchase this yolk and quadrant, do I need special rudder pedals to in order to taxi? Or is there some steering function on the yolk to taxi? Kind of like joysticks that twist left and right which is how I usually taxi on flightsim
Thank you for the detaıled explanation!! Actually, i am really surprised why Thrustmaster has chosen 3 slots + 3 slots Throttle design, 4 + 2 slots option would be much more preferable, considering that most of the users will fly on 737, 777 or 787. Anyone who wants to use it for 747 could add 2 slots part. It really disappointed me.
Need some help guys. Since using this product, after landing I can no longer turn on the autothrottle switch on the mcp, it flicks back down. I've tried unbinding the reversers, gear buttons and even set a keyboard command for autothrottle but it just wont stay on after landing. Everything works fine during flight. Any suggestions please?
Thanks for the videos! I just got the YOKE from Amazon canada yesterday, priced at 260$CAD lmaoo (price error, hope they honour it) Super stoked to try that for the first time on the series X!
