I've listened to this song about a gazillion and one times and I can honestly say that this is the first time that I've laughed and smiled while listening to it. Both of your reactions to this song is pure joy and super infectious! I cant wait to see your next SOAD reaction.
Check out the song Sky Is Over off his Elect the Dead solo album. . . Then immediately follow that with the live version . . . My respect for his vocal talent went up three overreacted I did that myself
"Hypnotize" is a must reaction - I think you'll both love that one. "Aerials" is a great one as well. And you will never hear a song like "BYOB" - it's completely unique (and awesome)!
I think that song speaks about the rebellion in heaven when Satan led his dark angels against God and was ultimately cast down into the pits of hell along with his angels who followed him!!!
Not only is Serj an incredible vocalist, he's also a pretty terrific dude in general. Wayyy back in the day I had a good friend who was a music industry journalist in the DC area and often accompanied him to shows. Got to meet the SOAD dudes twice, they were absolutely rad.
Since the 70's as a kid. I was always into Metal. As it got harder and heavier. More and more people thought I was an outcast cause of it. But now there are more people waking up to listen to metal. To hear, feel, and see what I have seen all these years in this music. It is infectious. It takes you and makes you move with the flow of the tune. I am so grateful to see you two enjoying the sounds of my life.
This song is specifically about their city Hollywood. They’ve written a few songs about how much they despise the fakeness and toxicity of that place. As one who works there regularly in the film industry I can fully relate.
System of the down have some of the best transitions honestly they can go from hard to soft funky two alternative and make it flow together there such a good band
System of a Down is so underrated, even though they’re very well known and liked. I wish they never split up, because we could have so much more amazing music from them. Keep up the good work!!
i think i know what you mean by underrated- theyre quite popular and even still growing in popularity amongst kids my age. however, most people dont like to go beyond their hits and dont realize that each album is different, and magic. (lmao cliche and cringy but i rlly like soad)
Did you notice that the drummer is pounding the hell outta those skins while wearing a suit??? He shows no restrictions whatsoever. Mad respect from a long time ago non professional drummer to a REAL pro! I’m SHOOK for real!
It's about time you exposed yourselves to more S.O.A.D. and the unique vocal stylings of Serj Tankian (who is Armenian-American). They were all over the airwaves in the early 2000's. Their other biggest hits include "Chop Suey" (which I guess got blocked), "Aerials", "B.Y.O.B", "Question!" and "Hypnotize". P.S. I hope you will give Radiohead another try. You did "Creep" in literally your first week, and didn't like it.... but now that your tastes have shifted, I hope you will give them another try. They're too damn good to keep on the bench forever. You could do "Fake Plastic Trees", "The Bends", "Karma Police" or "High and Dry" just to get you (re)started.
I'm in my late 50's and System of a Down had me listening to much more metal. They do metal like it's a big dark opera. And that's way I like my metal!
Question is good too. Just about anything off Toxicity, Hypnotize or Mesmorize is so good. Funky, groovy, rock and sometimes odd lyrics, but you can’t help but sing along.
Y'all just experienced the beauty of a "breakdown" -- the moment toward the end when the normal music drops out and the killer beat takes over, only to then return to the song... it's definitely one of my favorite elements of a good "hardcore" or "metalcore" song, and SOAD did it well. This might be my favorite song by them. "Sugar" and "Aerials" are up there as well. It was a blast watching you guys experience it for the first time! Also, look into the background of this band! They're from Armenia, and have a lot to say about some terrible things that went on there.
Greed would be another good one from that album. And Voodoo is my personal fave, but I forget it they did that already or I'm thinking of someone else.
System of a Down have been my favourite band for years and I just got so emotional seeing the joy in your faces hearing this for the first time. Im mega grinning here behind tears. Love this x
This is my favourite SoaD song and it was the first one I ever heard back when I was a teenager almost 20 years ago. I STILL remember the first time I ever heard this song. It's a masterpiece!
Question. That's the song for someone that likes a "softer" tone, while keeping a hard riffing style. What sets SOAD apart, is their use of Armenian musical influences, and just amazing harmonies. Daron, the guitar player, has an astounding voice, and his harmonies and leads(when he takes them) are next frickn' level. Amazing band. Do an album reaction video to Mesmerize.
Just wanted to give a couple things as commentary: When SOAD hit the scene back in 1999/2000, they made a HUGE impact right from jump. The very first song I ever heard was Prison Song off Toxicity, and SOAD, specifically Serj, is a very politically-minded artist, given that he is from Armenia. But in Prison Song, you hear a bunch of statistics about the prison system of the United States, and the thing is, not much has changed in 20 years (I still can't believe it's been that long, lol).
I totally love how diverse your tastes are. I used to think that it was odd that I could love so many totally different things and that it must seem strange to people that we can love such diverse artists from Eva Cassidy to ELO to System of a Down (for example). For me, it's like walking into a sweet shop and wanting to try everything. I'm so glad, I'm not the only one! xx
SOAD is top notch!!! Was lucky to see them in concert. The System catalog is really quite impressive. Not for quantity, but quality. A handful of albums, but all have gems on them.
Yeah.. I play myself, I was just thinking how hard he hits, and how cool his breaks are. I'm not super familiar with them or him, but, Imma check him out more.
For Female Friday: Ronnie Spector - ‘Be My Baby’ Toni Braxton - ‘Un-Break My Heart’ Sugarland (Jennifer Nettles) - ‘Stay’ Roberta Flack - ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ Other notables: Christopher Cross - ‘Sailing,’ Kayne Brown - ‘Worship You,’ Kool and The Gang - ‘Celebration,’ Dan Fogelberg - ‘Same Old Lang Syne’ Luther Vandross - ‘Dance With My Father’
OMG, I love this reaction so much. You guys just had so much fun with this, I'm practically crying over here. Tears of joy and laughter. You met your own goal, of making somebody smile, for sure.
F* yeah!🤘 Good one! Can y'all imagine Ambers reaction if they reviewed BYOB? Bahahaha! (Hey Amber, if you DO review BYOB, I suggest you preview a *lyrics* video first, by yourself, with the sound turned right off. Then on air, do the official video with the sound turned on for the first time.....)
SOAD is legitimately one of the greatest of all time bands. None, not one of their songs disappoints. Because you said his flow is nuts I Highly Highly recommend you guys check out "Prison Song by SOAD asap! Great video guys!
That creepy feeling is SOAD making you feel uncomfortable, they want you off your kilter, because they're usually singing about an uncomfortable subject. Toxicity covers the opioid epidemic amount other issues.
I think this song is much more about the toxicity of nations, the 1%, the powers that be, etc.. he’s calling out the new world order in the chorus & I don’t think it’s because of the state of the opioid epidemic in 2001.
@@mobiusbelts3607 I agree with you, the whole "How do you own disorde"r line shows that, as I said... among other issues, but the eating seeds line seems be a reference to pill popping along with the overall theme of toxicity.
Grats on the first headbang to Amber, glad she's getting more into metal! I requested this before, so I'll drop this suggestion again for y'all: I highly recommend checking out Slipknot, they hit super hard and their lyrics are sick! For a music video though I recommend starting with the tamer ones (for Amber's sake haha), either "Before I Forget" or "Psychosocial", I myself more strongly recommend Psychosocial as it more embodies the sound Slipknot is known for. Hope you get to this group some time!
“I’m not going to say metal because the metal fans out there are probably saying this isn’t super hard” 😂 I could only imagine Amber’s reaction to a band like Slayer, or even Jordan’s.
The fools that would say that are the type of people that think a metal band should ONLY sound like the metal bands THEY listen to. I know, I used to BE one of them. But, kind of in the opposite way. If a metal band was TOO hard I didn't like it. I thought of it as just..."noise." I'm STILL not a huge fan of the more extreme metal subgenres like death or blackmetal, but I've come to open my mind and realize that it IS all, in fact, METAL. S.O.A.D. is definitely a metal band. Never was a big fan, myself, and that's mostly because of Serj's vocals, particularly in their early work. He's a crazy-talented singer, but he had a tendency to use that "warble" in his voice a lot, and I found it extremely annoying.
Ehh, it’s metal, just a different kind, kinda hardcore, but not bad. I generally like more hard core stuff, or early metal. But also love these guys and the unique style, what they brought.
I have always loved the lyrics of this song, especially when he says "You, what do you own the world? How do you own disorder?" it just hits in all the right ways and speaks volumes. Great reaction guys 🙂
This comment deserves a 10k likes because I’m a late bloomer for the hood in Oakland Ca I came for the looks of reaction! Because I reacted the same when I was in college weight training when my boy from Salem Oregon showed me this song my mind still blowing 🫡
I'm ecstatic you guys loved it so much! SOAD has an insanely great discography. I highly suggest you go down the System's rabbit hole, you won't regret it!
I started watching when you all first created the channel and I remember thinking there's some really young black folks that probably weren't exposed to a lot of the music that I've been loving for 2030 even 40 years and it should be interesting to see their reaction for the first time for songs that I always felt were amazing and I've watched you guys progress in your appreciation for music
Welcome aboard! One of the band members used to sit in a booth with his friends at "Frank & Sons Collectables" in Walnut, California. They would sell old toys and family board games and old magazines. A few years after I stopped frequenting "Frank & Sons Collectables" , System Of The Down hit it big on the music scene.
I remember that while in the military, we were "highly advised" not to listen to certain musicians, and SOAD was on that list. I did what I had to do; I bought every single one of their albums and played their music from my barracks during my downtime. I'm sorry, but my own mother didn't even stop me from listening to whatever music caught my ear. I'm extremely eclectic, so when I tell people I listen to everything, I'm mean EVERYTHING; I even have bagpipe music on my iTunes. I've always had a love for music no matter where it's from; I have the same palate for books, film/television, food, and people. Watching this beautiful couple react to the exact same music I listened to throughout the years makes my heart leap for joy. May they continue to be blessed along with every single one of their family members, and may all of you stay blessed and safe as well.
_'Chop Suey was kind of hard'_ Me, who just listened to the whole toxicity album: *laughing intensifies* Also in 2020 they released 2 new songs to raise awareness (&funds) for a war going on in their country (Armenia)! So I really recommend reacting to Protect the Land and Genocidal Humanoidz! And to Aerials and Lonely Day. And *Streamline* - I love that song!
They're definitely never boring to watch. Or listen to. 😁 This video is actually partially directed by their bass player, Shavo Odadjian. They do have some chiller songs, too, like 'Spiders' and 'Lonely Day' -- the latter especially showcases Daron's vocals and his gorgeous harmonizing with Serj.
Two of my favorite songs by them is from their CD "Steal This Album!". "Streamline" which was used in the movie The Scorpion King... (side node... the movie was mediocre but the soundtrack kicked ass) The version in the movie was different from the one on the CD. The other song is "I-E-A-I-A-I-O". I just love the cadence and speed that he sings the song.
You guys should check out Kix. Their lead singer, Steve Whiteman, was Lzzy Hale's vocal coach. Lzzy said of Steve that "he's still a great mentor of mine. I owe everything that I'm able to pull off every night to that man. He's amazing!" I highly recommend Kix's biggest hit to start with "Don't Close Your Eyes", an anti-suicide ballad. Other favorites are Cold Blood, Cold Shower, The Itch, and Midnight Dynamite (which has my wife and me somewhere in the crowd for the video.) Kix is a phenomenal band that wasn't supported enough by their record label but they are definitely worth your reaction.
that was so hype! love spending time with you guys and your big smiley faces xx I can only listen this to song on the weekend cause I dont sleep for two days there after!!
Love your reactions folks. The main lyric from Serj Tankian is "Somewhere, between the sacred silence and sleep - disorder, disorder, disorrrrder!" He's talking about the only state of consciousness we have between "sleep" and the "sacred silence"(death) - so he must be talking about life. Therefore life is disorder and we need to deal with it. The final part of the song "when I became the sun I shone light into the mans hearts" is his realisation that he can become the god that he was always looking for, and can shine light/life the hearts of people just like him"
I loved your reaction to this!! These lyrics are so deep. Essentially saying that disorder is a natural flow of existence. "How do you own the world? How do you own disorder? No! Somewhere between the sacred silence and sleep, disorder!"
As a long time fan of SOAD, and new subscriber to your channel, this reaction warms my cold metal heart. I was headbanging to this in my teen years and still do. I'm so happy to see a new fan being born through the music. Keep the videos coming. Love your content.
Great fact about Serj. He is Armanian so for some reason an interviewer asked him what religeon he is he answered "the same religeon as that tree over there"
This song creates a subject about the music industry, drugs, corruption, religion, and Hollywood, as well as their role of “toxicity” in the world. Basically, saying how each of those things can be negative and bring a people down just the same as a poison would. The lead vocalist's name is Serj Tankian. He's downright AMAZING! Their later albums don't include him in the band anymore as the lead vocalist. I forget the specific reason why.. but I MISS HIM SO MUCH!! xD He's amazing.
SOAD has PLENTY of SONGS to choose from......you got so much to look forward to!!!! I was BLESSED enough to see them LIVE around 2006.......Blew My Mind!
I thought they were scary when I was in middle school and the video for Chop Suey would be on TRL on MTV. Then at some point in high school I realized how amazing they were, and they’ve been a part of my shuffle ever since.
I love this song! I'm 73 years old, and yet THIS song can still get me moving! I love Chop Suey too!
That's what's up
Wow amazing old man
atwa is also great

Red the Legend, baby!
This album shook the world when it was released. Every song still holds up.

SOAP was my childhood. Three Days Grace, Chevelle, Stone Sour. There was so much good music back then. I mean now too but then was the best.
Same! The joy is so good.
As you say, I was laughing with them at the joy it brought them. Amber is just incredible at "getting" brilliant songs
Serj Tankien is the lead singer, he’s incredible. He’s still making great music on his own.
Also, probably the only person I can think of where his name matches his voice with absolute perfection. He was destined to be a singer, IMO.
Check out the song Sky Is Over off his Elect the Dead solo album. . . Then immediately follow that with the live version . . . My respect for his vocal talent went up three overreacted I did that myself
Empty Walls, too. It has a great video.
That's a good one as well. The whole concert is impressive, really.
I get a lot of flak for this, but I truly believe that Serj is the best front man since Freddie Mercury (who is still the GOAT in my humble opinion).
The lead singer is Serj Tankian. The guitarist, Darron, is a good singer, too.
Darron is a epic screamer 🖤🤘
@@katiemurray735 i love darron's voice so much

Daron in the last 2 albums is just the 2nd lead singer as well as the guitarist

I'm ecstatic you guys loved it so much! SOAD has an insanely great discography. I highly suggest you go down the System's rabbit hole, you won't regret it!
Yes! Glad you guys are getting into SOAD
Wish they would have made a song based off the last 10 seconds. Love that riff.
Saliva is another great band to react to. Click Click Boom was a big one for them and for a softer side, Always is a beautiful song. Excellent band!
Good call.
Amber I'm so proud of you. SOAD is killer!!!!!
Would love to see some reactions to P.O.D. “Southtown” and Papa Roach “Broken Home.” Just found your channel and loving the reactions so far. 🤙🏽🤘🏽
Best heart felt reaction to this masterpiece ❤ I have seen. Ever. Thank you
_'Chop Suey was kind of hard'_
Me, who just listened to the whole toxicity album: *laughing intensifies*
Also in 2020 they released 2 new songs to raise awareness (&funds) for a war going on in their country (Armenia)!
Yes! Steal this Album was great, so underrated. Chic N Stu, Innervison, Mr. Jack, love them all.
SOAD is a metal band. I don't think any metal fan would dispute this.
Awesome 💯! Time for some METALLICA - CREEPING DEATH LIVE MOSCOW ( 1.6 million in attendance)🔥🤘🤘
Serj Tankian Amazing voice
that was so hype! love spending time with you guys and your big smiley faces xx
I can only listen this to song on the weekend cause I dont sleep for two days there after!!
It’s considered NuMetal 🤘🏽 seen SOAD in concert they put on a great show. Pledge of the Allegiance tour.
Pure joy! I get pure joy from seeing the pure joy on your face experiencing this for the first time! 🤣❤️Beautiful!!
Love your reactions folks. The main lyric from Serj Tankian is "Somewhere, between the sacred silence and sleep - disorder, disorder, disorrrrder!"
He's talking about the only state of consciousness we have between "sleep" and the "sacred silence"(death) - so he must be talking about life.
Esse álbum e muito foda.
com certeza
Omg I love how excited you guys got! I can never get enough of this song!
They have a great documentary about Armenian genocide. They are powerful advocates for their fellow Armenian people.
i was lucky enough to see these guys live twice! great band!
Lol love the reaction! Yes, they are bad ass! Truly unique, that’s a big reason I like them so much.
As a long time fan of SOAD, and new subscriber to your channel, this reaction warms my cold metal heart. I was headbanging to this in my teen years and still do. I'm so happy to see a new fan being born through the music. Keep the videos coming. Love your content.
Great fact about Serj. He is Armanian so for some reason an interviewer asked him what religeon he is he answered "the same religeon as that tree over there"
It was so fun watching you two really get into the song once the bridge/breakdown section kicked off.
I forget the specific reason why.. but I MISS HIM SO MUCH!! xD He's amazing.
she was hyped man!!
Amber headbanging! WHAT!!!!!! LOL I loved it!! GREAT reaction! ROCK ON!! Jeff
SOAD has PLENTY of SONGS to choose from......you got so much to look forward to!!!!
I was BLESSED enough to see them LIVE around 2006.......Blew My Mind!
Oh my god, what a reaction!!! 😂😂Love this song and it always makes me happy too 💕
I thought they were scary when I was in middle school and the video for Chop Suey would be on TRL on MTV. Then at some point in high school I realized how amazing they were, and they’ve been a part of my shuffle ever since.
That had to be my favorite reaction in a long time!!! You two are so genuine and fun to watch!!! Love it!!
Yo seeing Amb head bang is the high light of everything. I gotta find more songs to see that. Her smile and head bang was elite!
