    Full show notes and transcript: drgundry.com/Dry-Farm-Wines
    This episode is sponsored by Dry Farm Wines.
    Ever heard of toxic wine?
    If you’ve read any of my books, the answer is absolutely, positively - YES! I’m talking about wines that are full of one of the deadliest disruptors - glyphosate, the key biocide in Round up.
    But my guest on this episode expands the definition of a toxic wine.
    In fact, he’s actually built an entire business curating the cleanest wines on the planet. He’s Todd White, self-professed biohacker and founder of Dry Farm Wines - a subscription-based wine club that sources natural wines from small family farms.
    Todd and I reveal what may actually be in your glass of wine (and it’s not just fermented grapes), explain what the heck carb-free wine is and most importantly, help YOU find the purest (and tastiest) wines out there.
    On this episode you’ll learn:
    The scary truth about most wines on the shelves today (and what the FDA is NOT telling) (3:00)
    Why even ORGANIC wine is not all it’s cracked up to be - and why THIS wine is much better for your health (12:30)
    One of the BIGGEST causes behind the dreaded “wine headache” (it’s NOT necessarily alcohol) - and how to minimize the negative effects (21:10)
    The scary truth about sugar content of most wines - and how to really know how much sugar is in your drink (37:45)
    Why "happy hour" may be ruining your health - and why other countries have this healthier practice instead (50:38)
    How to find the healthiest wines in YOUR hometown (and avoid wine with added health-wrecking toxins) (1:02)
    Mentioned on this episode:

    FYI those of us who are on the lectin free diet should be careful with wine or any lectin free alcohol for that matter. I was doing great for a year on a lectin free diet then I started to incorporate wine once a week, then that evolved to 3 days to 6 days a week. Then I started to lose inhibition and eating things without reading labels to full blown eating lectins again destroying my health. Thankfully I'm back on track, but please keep in mine that wine can be a slippery slope to disaster.

    My body has become less and less tolerant to wine over the years. Two years ago I ordered organic wine by the glass at a restaurant and got the second migraine of my life. Then I learned that wine is allowed to have up to 26 stabilizers to stabilize taste and shelf-life. So organic wine, once opened, can develop in any number of undesirable ways. Lessons learned: 1) Never order organic wine by the glass at a restaurant, 2) Be very careful about wine in general, knowing how most of it is full of preservatives and other junk.

    I live in the wine country just north of SF - my landscaper worked for a very famous old winery..one year the grapes were full of mold from late rains but dried up like raisins because of a very dry year..they picked them, mixed them in a big vat with super grape which has wine flavoring, red dye and sugar. They add alcohol to get it up to the right percentage then bottle it. It’s disgusting. Because wine is suppose to be a natural product the only labeling law says they have to name the region it was grown in..its all a big money making lie. Complete toxic garbage...and people drink it for their health. What a joke.

      No, whats a joke is pretending that alcohol consumption can ever be healthy. Its literally a toxin and a carcinogen, 12% by volume. It does organ damage EVERY time you drink it, including your brain.
      I enjoy a glass of wine now and again, just like I enjoy lots of things that aren’t the healthiest choice on special occasions.
      This delusion though, that histamines and sulfites are so harmful.....while ignoring the well known effects of alcohol, is hypocritical and a bit insane.

    Dear Dr. Gundry, could you please do a talk specifically about how much protein we need, in GRAMS, at the different stages of our lives? I am a 73-yr-old obese woman w 80 lbs left to lose, and between the opinions of MOST weight loss, keto & carnivore experts, who recommend well over 100 grams per day; longevity experts Drs. Sinclair & Longo, who recommend "low protein" (whatever that means) for most over reproductive age but increasing again over age 65; & yourself, who seem to be recommending 30 gm or even less, there is no subject I am more confused about. And I am sure I can't be the only one! Your help would be greatly appreciated!

    • @dimitargrozdev9833
      @dimitargrozdev9833 2 роки тому +2

      Cheryl, do follow the dr. Gundry instructions in their vegetarian aspect and no other. Stop counting youd daily protein intake, and consume as much as you can the recommended variety of plant based nutrients and supplements. Try to eat once a day, preferably in the early evening. I am confident your extra weight should drop. If not, try periodical (a week up to two weeks) fasting with pure water intake only, and then back to the above style.

    • @cherylh4688
      @cherylh4688 2 роки тому +2

      @@dimitargrozdev9833 Thank you so much, Dimitar, for your kind & helpful reply. I had actually intended to come back here to apologize for my question, bcz after watching for a video from Dr. Gundry about protein for months, one showed up in my feed (no pun intended, lol) literally right after I left the comment above! And he had made it only a year or so ago, so it's recent enough to likely still be valid.
      In that video, however, he cites the work of longevity expert Dr. Valter Longo in support of his low protein recommendations, but then actually misquotes Longo's findings, stating he recommends .31 to .36 grams of protein per KG of bodyweight, yielding around 30 gm for an average-weight person. But Longo actually said per LB of body weight, so more than double that amount, & going up from there, ofc, depending on ones current weight.
      AND while Longo's research did indicate a mostly vegan diet w the addition of seafood 2-3 times per week, which Dr Gundry also said he follows (seafood only on the weekends), Longo also said in his book that for those over 65, it is desirable to increase the protein qty somewhat & add more fish + some poultry, eggs, & goat & sheep products! Which for me would mean a protein qty in excess of 80-90 grams per day! And that is happily almost what I had already started doing, after concluding, thanks to Gundry, Longo & Sinclair, that the keto-carnivore high protein route is actually dangerous if ones ultimate goal is longevity, esp for someone my age, & should always only be a temporary solution. (Actually, true keto only includes moderate protein anyway, not high.)
      And so, the greatest help to me - who had already lost about 32 lbs on a keto diet that included lots of protein, esp red meat - has now been to confirm that I don't have to eat more protein than feels comfortable (I was) & esp to greatly limit the red meat (my freezer is full of it) while increasing the lectin-free plants as much as possible. And that info is invaluable, I feel, & I am VERY grateful for it. AND finally feel some confidence in it!
      But until my weight IS off, I will continue to avoid the starchier protein sources in favor of animal-based, bcz I don't produce enough amylase in my saliva to adequately digest starches anyway. But I will certainly include more OMAD days, per your suggestion - thank you! - & even try a homemade version of Longo's "fasting mimicking diet" for 5 days, to see how I handle that. He actually doesn't recommend fasting that long for seniors, disappointingly, but I am hopeful & still fairly confident, so we shall see. I'm actually doing a 1-day version of it today, w fingers crossed, lol!
      But thank you so much again, Dimitar, for your thoughtful reply, and I do recognize that there is much wisdom in it!

    • @cherylh4688
      @cherylh4688 2 роки тому +1

      Dear Dr. Gundry, me again, lol, to apologize for my earlier request of a video on protein. Shortly after I made it, I discovered one you did about a year ago! So thank you very much for that & it was VERY helpful!
      I did notice, however, that in the video, while you cited Dr. Longo's longevity research in support of your low protein recommendation, you actually mistakingly misquoted his recommendation as .31 to .36 grams per "kilogram of body weight," while his actual recommendation in his book is per POUND of body weight, so actually more than double the amount of protein. (Or so some commenters noted & an internet search seems to confirm. I haven't actually read his book yet.)
      Also, his recommendation does not appear to be based on "lean body mass" but actual weight, which means the quantity of recommended protein actually goes up as ones overall weight does. So IOW, for someone of my weight, I would need around 80+ grams of protein minimum. And I would need even more than that bcz of my age (73), since while he still recommends a "mostly vegan" diet, his findings also strongly indicated that the longest-lived people in the blue zones tended to increase their protein & food intake as they aged. And so, that is also something he now recommends for seniors, including greater quantities of fish plus the addition of some poultry, eggs, & even some goat & sheep products (but still NO beef, lamb or pork)!
      So if you feel so inclined, I think many, including myself, would love & greatly appreciate to see a video from you on the differences between your protein recommendations & Dr. Longo's. But in the meantime, I, for one, will definitely be purchasing & reading both of your books on longevity, as I know I will learn much of great value from them. And from you, especially, who I credit with personally saving me from ending my days in a wheelchair due to crippling arthritis. My pain is now almost completely gone thanks to the elimination of lectin-rich plants, & I am finally able to resume a walking program!
      So bless you, Dr. Gundry. The world is a much healthier place for having you in it!

      @@cherylh4688 I congratulate you for freeing yourself from a wheelchair, and for having so much grace! And thank you for pointing out the mistake in protein estimates. I'm eating and enjoying many more veggies, and in addition to a huge improvement to my bathroom visits, I've also noticed increased mental clarity and memory power.
