Danny is the best drummer on the planet
🤘🏻🐐
He's certainly up there, he's diverse and supremely talented, and certainly one of the best in rock, but there's quite a few very talented percussionists in other fields.
Once Peart passed, Danny took the role of GOAT drummer!
El estepario siberiano is at least just as good
@@viking_nor Not quite but still very talented.
I've tried for 15 years to find a favorite Tool song. It's come down to whatever one is currently playing.
46&2 (crazy explanation behind that tune)... H ... damn, too many! Jstin, sick on bass! Adam, like Aaron Lewis, not much movement if any on stage. MJK, aversion to light hence, performs in the dark. Too bad, he don's some crazy getups/outfits, coif(s)! His wine = tasty, out of W. AZ...
Ive watched so many of these drummer reacts videos to this song, and most start out trying to count polyrythyms and get their head around what he's doing, then every time they reach the interlude where each limb is playing it's own rhythm, they stop talking and you just see the absolute respect for just how skilled Danny is.
I did two tours with them in the early days and it changed my life... so spiritual and dynamic. There will never be another band like TOOL.
That’s awesome!!
So true...my favorite musical accompaniment of all time: 1992- to today👏😅. BRILLIANT
Ah. Danny Carey...the 3 best drummers in the world
The crazy thing is he recorded this for the album in one take. For something this complicated, that's cray-cray
🤘🏻🙌🏻
What’s WILD is to think how many drum/kit/cymbal hits he makes in one concert with 100% accuracy and in sync. Blows my mind.
3rd?! I gotta hear your #1 and #2.
*sigh* SMH...I give up...please read and try to understand my OP...
@@somedude2319 he means hes 1, 2, and 3.
I finally got to see Tool in Cologne, Germany after trying for 30 years. It brought tears to my eyes. The best band ever.
I was there too!!!
Loved every minute of the show, although the venue is notorious for it's bad acoustics, and it held up to that unfortunately, it was still an experience though!
I saw them at the Red Rocks in Colorado, USA when I was 18 back in 2001. My first concert of anyone to see. Ive not experienced anything like it since.
Yeah it's def an emotion evoking band for me, too. I'm glad you finally got to see them=)
Including various reaction channels, I must have watched this 100 times. It still blows me away. Every. Single. Time!
Glad you enjoy it!
Yes!!
I see them tomorrow night here in Winnipeg MN Canada! Ima lose my shit!!!
This video shows perfectly why we the fans have nicknamed Danny the octopus
He’s so good!
I have literally never heard that.
Yep seen them live. Honestly they sound better live then recorded. Purely amazing. Pneuma live is like going to another universe
I’m sure!!
Seen the twice and I couldn't agree with you more. It's a whole other dimension.
Awesome live, but you also pick up so many things you'll never hear live on the studio albums and a good set of head phones
This tour was my first Tool concert...and YES, they bring another dimension live.
I've been a lifelong fan but never had the chance to see them, when I finally did it was in Jan 2020. I've been to at least 100 concerts in my life, but not once did I ever feel like I did when I walked out of that arena. I don't know how, but I felt like my life had changed in some way. I didn't really "get" Pneuma from listening to the album, but when they played it live it instantly became one of my favorite songs. I looked over at my buddy during it and he had a tear running down his cheek. Something powerful happened at that show.
Danny is the man. His genius is making the most complicated stuff so simple.
I've seen Tool in concert 5 times. Was fortunate enough to talk with him after 4 of those shows. He's incredibly humble and very easy to talk to. Just an all around good dude and an amazing drummer! By far my favorite drummer and band.
Loved your reaction, I enjoy seeing a drummer appreciate another's talent.
Thanks Jeff!!
5 timer here too!! I also went to one of those 'drum clinics' he did at the high school auditorium in Overland Park, Kansas like 15 years ago. He stayed afterwards and signed an autograph for every single person that was there and chatted us all up while doing it. One of the few times ive been star struck in my life.
Us Tool fans get a bad wrap for sounding pretentious etc, and (at least from me) it really isn't intentionally - but this band really is just SO good. I've been a musician (since 8) and a huge music fan all my life, discovered Tool 2 years ago and they still blow my mind man
They are amazing!
Truth!
Your only Pretense is that Tool is awesome. That is not pretentious.
Welcome! The best band of my lifetime! I first saw Sober about 30 years ago on Headbanger's Ball. I've been hooked ever since.
I’ve seen them at least 7 times. I’ll be seeing them again in October. They truly are the best and I will never tire of them live.
Nice!!
Been listening to Tool since Undertow. As a musician you listen to music differently for different reasons than most. Over the years I had gravitated closer to Tool with every album release. When Fear Ino ulum came out I was floored. I had no choice but to pay a small ransom for floor tickets. NEVER did I imagine what I was in store for. A spuritual, mind blowing experience. I highly recommend putting EVERYTHING in life aside for one night of epic musicianship.
Soooo… basically DC is a drummer that you as a professional can’t begin to replicate. He is a level above most?
Danny Carey is my favorite drummer ever. Most technical by far in history… Seen them 5 times live now. Best show anyone could witness. Danny Carrey is one of the best…the whole band are musical geniuses…
🤘🏻👌🏻
This is why he’s my favorite drummer, his ability to follow crazy time changes and his ability to have every limb doing something different like it’s nothing. Plus he’s a great guy
In my 30 years of being a Tool fan, I have seen them 11 times, have driven hours to catch the closest concert. Favorite band Tool, favorite drummer Danny Carey, favorite song, whatever one im listening to
Thanks for sharing!
Saw Tool in Buffalo! February 2022!!! Was freaking awesome!! Danny is definitely the best drummer ever!!!
From Costa Rica🇨🇷. I saw Tool in Prague 2019. Was the best concert ever
Live, Danny's drumming kicks your teeth in and leaves you wanting more xD Stellar band all around, and if I could see them live every day for the rest of my life I absolutely would.
Nice!!
Danny Carey is my favorite drummer, followed by Gojira's Mario Duplantier.
My TOOL song is probably Eulogy, but it's like trying to pick a favorite kid.
I’ll have to check out Mario!
Mario is phenomenal first time I heard him I was blown away
Danny Carey, Chris Dave, Karriem Riggins, and I'm excited as hell to see how Morgan Simpson develops as he gets older as he's already incredible. Those are my faves regardless of genre. I could also listen to Larnell Lewis 'City Lights' solo every day for the rest of my life and be quite happy.
Parabola always reminds me of a good friend of mine. Born on the same day, met in college, bar toured together on our 21st. We lost her to breast cancer in her mid 40's. "Celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing. We are eternal all this pain is an illusion".
I don’t know how In the world he goes from doubles to singles so flawlessly in the intro
It’s pretty mind blowing!! Stay tuned in for more! 🤘🏻
He just stops using one and only uses the other
I can't think of another drummer in my lifetime as good as Danny. He's, amazing. Just listen to the crowd.
Danny is incredible. Pnuema is up there, but my favorite song is "The Pot". Everything about it is perfect. The polyrhythms, the timing changes, the lyrics...just a perfect song. Check it out.
Cool I definitely will!
The Pot is my fave as well!!! I payed money I didn’t have to see them. And I’d do it again and again. Hypnotic!!
I couldn't play this song in my dreams....THE GOAT!
I saw that concert and then they came again in 2022 and us New Englanders love TOOL!
This actual concert was my 6th Tool concert and my wife’s first. They’re always spot on.
So cool!
DUDE!!!! I've seen this song live twice and it's INCREDIBLE! But you were HERE!?!? You're living the wet dream of millions of people😂
@@tomwiththeweather247 Boston TD Garden. I miss them playing Great Woods in Mansfield though. That’s an amphitheater and my favorite venue. TD Garden is so loud the sound gets distorted.
TOOL's the GOAT! Masters of transitions. Only RUSH compares. Fav tracks by TOOL are "Pushit", "Descending", "H", "The Grudge" and every other track they've ever written 😆. Even their interludes and Adam's Gibson commercial are out of this world. Guys are geniuses.
I couldn’t say it better my friend 👊😉🍻
🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@-TRIAD- 😆 Hey cheers bud, nice to see you 👊🏼👁🤘🏼
This is my favorite tool song solely for the drumming. It’s just so fucking good
Danny is truly "the octopus" he got that nickname for a reason. Love the videos brother!
This song gives me chills every time I listen, what a masterpiece full of concepts, it's a brutal piece of art, so deep,so soft, so heavy and totally mindblowing, ain't got enough words to describe it
He's the best living drummer in the planet. His use of polyrhythms are insane. As a musician, you get caught trying to count and miss the overall count with some of his unreal fills and sub-beats 😂
I seen them in new Orleans last tour my wife bought me vip tickets for my bday we ended up front row right infront of Justin. Truly the greatest concert experience I have had to date.
Absolute stunning band.
seen in hamburg 2022. already have my tickets here for vienna, 2024. can't wait !
Saw them live back in 2006 and "again" in April 2022, and they were both amazing, especially the latter one.
Nice!!
Critiquing Danny as a percussionist is hilarious to me. Unbelievable talent and dude is still rocking at 60-something. Been a huge fan of Tool since they had to put a video on MTV while I was in college. Appreciate what he and the band have given us.
i could watch danny all day so good
Danny Carey IS my favorite drummer. Dude can play a different time signature with each limb. He is the GOAT, as far as I'm concerned.
Keep bringing 🛠️T⚙️⚙️L🛠️🔥🔥
Will do stay tuned!
Tool is my favorite band. I’ve been a fan since high school around 1998. Danny is called the octopus for a reason. That one bit where every limb is doing something different is UNBELIEVABLE. He’s my fav and yes have seen them live. It’s almost an out of body experience and hypnotic. Spiral Out!
Tool is awesome!
I turned my 70 year old dad onto Tool recently. He’s always been in a band since I can remember. I play the guitar and he plays everything. My name is actually John Lennon so he’s a musician and has a studio that people come and play and record at for free. He was blown away and asked me when we can see them live.
Thanks for pointing out that fact about him keeping time with the high hat! Never noticed that or heard it pointed out by another drummer reaction video.
I've seen them twice almost 20 years apart😅 First on the Lateralus tour in 2001 then a few years ago on the Fear Inoculum tour. They were absolutely phenomenal both times
What did you think of the fear inoculum album? It’s not a good as their older stuff but it’s still amazing in my opinion
@@BennyBoy-cl4co I feel like it's probably a natural evolution of where they've been headed over the decades. I do enjoy the album immensely but it more often thrown on in the background rather then actively listened to🤷🏻♂️ 10,000 days was the peak of the mountain for me🤘🏻
7:19 i love how maynard just takes a bathroom break. brb
Tool - all songs are great. Danny carry - the drummer of all drummers.
Seen them live 7 times: GENIUS!
Seen them 11 times live. Favorite band since I was 12 (I’m 32 now). All 4 of them are geniuses. And they are so tight in their complexity of music. I can’t really narrow down to a “favorite” song from them but Lateralus showcases what Tool is all about. DC is my favorite drummer of all time. But that is subjective.
I'm 53 years old and have seen a lot of concerts, I saw Tool @ Milwaukee on Halloween night 2019. Best concert hands down I have ever seen. They were so tight, the light show was incredible. Neil Peart and Danny are definitely at the top. Favorite Tool songs, really hard to pick one but two I really like is Invincible and Right in Two.
🤘🏻
Hands down best drummer in the world since 93 old school drummers like (neil peart….ect…)revolutionized the music but danny brought it to a ol another level….
Danny is my favorite drummer, I'm also partial to Stewart Copeland. Wings for Marie is my favorite TOOL song.
I’ve seen them live twice and both times were absolutely stellar!!!
The first time I saw them live was at Bonnaroo in 2007 along with about 80,000 others. It was damn near a religious experience. One highlight was when they brought Tom Morello out to play the solo on Lateralus.
I was there too! Fucking magical
Dude’s a genius. Period. A god among men.
I saw them in Birmingham, Alabama and it was the BEST concert I had ever been to.
Phenomenal band and drummer. Totally next level playing from guys like him, it's so complex and to nail it like this live is just mind blowing. I wish I were a younger man, I'd start over and learn this kind of stuff.
Yes 🙌🏻 🐐
Saw them live last year, truly one of the best live performances I've ever experienced. They are phenomenal, all masters of their craft. Difficult to pick a favourite song of theirs but to name a few, The Grudge, 46 & 2, Right in Two, Schism, Descending, Invincible, Lateralus but there so much more! Spiral out!
Cool thanks for that!
He’s by far my favourite drummer and the band as a whole. Thanks for covering this. It gives me goosebumps every time ❤
Best live show I’ve ever been to. I even saw them two weeks later in Minneapolis
That man’s in his late 50’s. Saw them in Philly before the pandemic and after. Best concerts ever!!
Awesome!!
I saw them in '95 when I was 8 months pregnant with my oldest son. He ended up playing drums! 😆❤️🤘
Nice!!
It had to be that way, how could it not, right? So cool!
Danny Carey is my favorite drummer out there.
Of course I've seen them live, they're my favorite band, it's an experience is an understatement😊 Danny's my favorite!!
Saw this exact show live. They are masters. Favorite drummer is Bill Bruford.
Awesome!!
I’ve seen them live around a dozen times- first time was during the Lateralus tour in November 2001. That concert was life-changing, and every single one after has been epic!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing! Stay tuned in for more!
The pads Danny plays are called Mandalas. They are made by a company called Synesthesia. Danny and Vince DeFranco devoloped them, and they have 128 strike positions
One of the greatest drum performances ever. Just doesn't get old. And Neal Peart was the GOAT. Rush content please.
Lateralus is my favorite song by them. Seen them live 3 times…it’s a must.
I am jealous!
Disposition and Reflection are my top 2 Tool. Danny is literally a living drum God lol good video brother.
I have always said that Tool seems to me ALL playing lead in a dance together!!😎🤙🤙
I can’t give him greatest living drummer currently, but he is my number 2! That being said… Tool live is unlike any experience I have ever had. Truly incredible performance in person. Neil Peart has my greatest of all time. His passing puts Mike Portnoy at my number 1 spot.
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻Stay tuned in for more!!
Saw them last year. Biggest take-away is the drums are turned down on the studio albums. They dominate the whole concert. It's awesome. Descending is my favorite Tool song and Danny's my favorite drummer.
🤘🏻🤘🏻
The molecules that make your body vibrate with the drums. It’s another level.
@@johnnyblais-kl1hb Saw them last year and from the seventh row Danny was literally kicking the air out of my lungs lol.
Saw them in Feb 2012! Man what a show! Danny was on point all night 💪
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
By the way, you got a new subscriber in me bro! Keep up the good work✊️
Tool was the BEST concert I’ve ever been to. I recommend them to EVERYONe
Welcome to the TOOL ARMY. Danny by far is my favorite drummer. We call him the Octopus for obvious reasons. Whether you believe it or not, seeing Tool live is a life changing event. I've been a fan since the 1990's and have seen them 3 times so far. The only other Band's I've seen live that even comes close, are Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Three songs I would suggest to check out are Lateralus, Aenema, and 46 and 2. They are my top three, but there's really no such thing as a bad Tool song. One last thing. Danny is in his 60s and still killing it.
🙌🏻🤘🏻🐐
Seen them live somewhere around 2004 for the 10.000 days release, in Nantes, France. Was amazing. Dany is one of my few favs drummers, Mario Duplantier is another one.
I’m so glad I made it to that tour. I would’ve hated myself if I’d missed them play Wings for Marie and 10,000 Days.
So cool! I wish I could have seen them!
@@ColbyFultonDrums I also seen Gojira in Rennes, and at the end of the show, people were going out, and Mario came in the rest of the crowd and hugged my sister, so I hugged them two, haha !
I just saw them live 2 weeks ago… simply mind blowing!!!
Danny throws that one slip-up in near the end just to remind you that he is a HUMAN who will never be replaced by a robot (despite what his arms and legs say).
Hmm, I’m intrigued: you say “Drummer reacts” - but you don’t say a word about the actual drumming (time signatures, techniques, licks, beats etc.). It’s more casual statement about his gear, clothes and that the music is good and complex.
My question: how come?
That just happened to be my reaction to this video, thanks for watching John.
@@ColbyFultonDrums Ok, so it’s not so much about “the drummer part” then? The title lead me to believe that there would be a more in depth “drum reaction”. But then I know where you’re at 👍🏻
, John
I’ll be more cognitive of that on the next videos! Thanks for the feedback and hopefully you stay tuned in!
@@ColbyFultonDrums Well, i might just be holding high standards (being a fairly advanced former professional drummer with albums, tours, tv, festivals under my belt etc.). So when I see the word “Drummer reacts” (and when the drummers being reacted to are fairly advanced), then I automatically expect an “advanced reaction”. My bad. This is just another ballpark. Good luck 👍🏻
I’ve seen them 6 times live and every show is better than the last. By far the BEST band to see live. Fucking amazing show!!
I can’t tell you what my favorite Tool song is because I literally love them all. Danny Carey is by far my favorite drummer. It’s why Tool is my favorite band.
Danny's drumsticks look like hummingbird wings in his hands. ✌️
🙌🏻🤘🏻
Seen them over 20 times…best show everytime I see them!!!❤❤❤
Neil Peart has always been my all time favorite drummer. God rest his soul. Now that he is no longer with us....Danny Carey is the best drummer in the world.....PERIOD. 🤘🤘🤘
🤘🏻🤘🏻
Seen them many times live...... aenmia..... lateralus......10k days..... fear innoc..... always an excellent show and they never fail to deliver.
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Three times, L.A., San Diego, Tacoma. Supporting (in order) Aenima, Lateralus, Fear Innoculum. Spot on, every time even LA, where the tour started. So it doesn't matter where in the tour lineup you see them, they are rock solid.
Favorite songs: Aenima, The Swamp Song, Rosetta Stoned
Danny Carey is by far one of the greats
Tool is my all time fave band. Seen them 3 times. Great songs to check out, reflection, the grudge and third eye
Descending is my current favorite Tool song, but Pneuma is my favorite song to see live. The presentation (which you can't see a lot of in this video) is so great.
I was at this concert. He was wearing the Bird jersey because he was at the TD Garden. The best concert I’ve been too. Going later this year again.
Saw them live twice. Amazing experience.
I’ve been obsessed with drums for most of my life. I would always ask for a set for a Christmas, but never got them. I’m too old now 😂
Danny Carey is amazing and is so fascinating to watch. Huge Tool fan since 93
I've seen Tool 3 times spanning 30 years. Danny Carey is amazing. Highly recommend seeing them live, alway a great show. I'm looking forward to seeing them again!
I think he is one of the creative drummers and this polyrythms crazy
👌🏻
And yes, live- it's not just a show, it's an experience !!
I saw them on 3/9/20...right before the lockdown. GREAT SHOW. That was the only time I've seen them. They were INCREDIBLE.
Very cool, jealous!!
I have seen Tool 5 times and they never get old!
Danny Carey all time favorite, and this is the best version of the song. HOWEVER, I would love to here Sir El Estepario Siberiano’s personalized cover!! I’ve seen Tool and A Perfect Circle. Great shows
I've seen them live 6 times and every time was an unforgettable experience.
Danny is my favorite drummer, which is fitting, since Tool is my favorite band. I’ve only been able to see them once, and that was about seven years ago. Going to see them in October
