There’s a difference between running for general health and running for sport and performance if you want to do any activity as a hobby it’s significantly cheaper than doing it seriously.
Running used to be cheap. That was part of its appeal. Now it costs $150.00 plus for good trainers. Race entry fees? Some are reasonable while some are stupid expensive. If you don’t race and purchase last year’s latest and greatest shoes on close out, it can be cheap.
Hi bro another great video, yes it's an expensive sport, have you done a video on cheap buys & bargains? when a new running shoe comes out the previous model is dramatically reduced in price making it a good buy. Nutrition Gels always come on offer in supermarkets etc. I recently went to ASICS outlet at York outlet village, there was Nike, Adidas & Under Armour. Plenty of discounts with a bit of patience & looking around. Thanks Aubrey 👍🏼🤩💪🏼
When you want to run without any costs join the military. I was in the Luftwaffe in the 70ies ( last century). We got free (cotton) clothing, free shoes ( real leather with gum soles), free transport to races (if you were in the XC team or good enough in track & field
Chess? If you're want to compete, big $$$. Entry fees, memberships, coach, travel. Almost any hobby will cost money but what is the point of hoarding money and not having any fun.
People like to talk down to runners. I have a Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire Solar with Titanium band. I have 14 Nike Aeroswift tanks ($90 MSRP each), Rabbit shirts, New Balance shoes, Beats Fit Pro. A ton of Eastern Mountain Sports and New Balance pieces for running when it's below freezing. Hats, gloves of different thicknesses, ski mask for running in a blizzard. I have a home gym and a gym membership. It's nice to do it at home when the weather is bad or you're in a hurry. The gym has better, overall equipment. I play tennis too.
Imo the biggest spend is running shoes especially after the advent of carbon plated running shoes. Rest everything else ( GPS watch, separate HRM) you may buy new one only after a couple of years or more.
But, there's a price that's more than worth it - like, when your teenage son comes to you asking if you can run a 5K with him tomorrow (because his girlfriend is injured) so he won't be bored. Boom! 5K done (with your kid)! 10.5 mile run home? Hell yeah!
Very true got a £450 garmin 120 puma, 160 gortex trail shoes and feel like I need some meta speed sky Paris asics for 220 next 😂😂 then I’m done. Oh yeh and a running vest with a bladder. But is worth every penny
Shhhhh 🤫. We need more runners Aubrey. Keep telling them is easy and cheap. We definitely need more people to speak about running and how much we spend. We can’t do this alone, can’t we 🤔🤔😂🤣😆😂🤣😆
all I can say is buy cheap on gear shirts shorts vests. non name brand Marshall's Ross or buy last yrs version.. cheap.. and spend your money on nutrition fueling good food and one pair of shoes which does it all my friends you don't have to wear name brand ..gear...thats my advice.
I mean, I get the point, running can be expensive if you let it be, but that's every sport/hobby these days - every business and influencer out there is trying to sell you stuff by convincing you that you need it and it's particularly bad in running because it's such a popular sport. In reality, the minimal kit required to go out running a couple of times a week *is* cheaper and more accessible than almost any other sport. I know the video is partly exaggerated for fun, but I don't like the message (from the whole community - no shade specifically on you for this Aubrey!) that you need all this stuff if you want to "take your running seriously". I'd rather people were critical about what they personally really need, instead of it becoming normalised that everyone needs all this crap just to be a casual runner getting outside a few times a week.
@@AubreyRunningI'm not sure if I'd agree, most of the things you said can be cut in price. You can find lots of shoes second hand online (making sure they are definitely in good condition), cheaper running watches, cheaper clothes, eggs instead of protein powder, snack bars instead of gels etc etc. I am a fan though, don't get me wrong, just want to make sure anyone newer to the sport isn't put off as you really don't need to spend a lot of money to have fun or to be a very good runner.
@@AubreyRunningAlso not to get too political but I do believe a lot of this stuff is a product of a highly consumerist society, not being content with what we have which makes these companies richer and damages the planet more. Let's all just be happy with what we have!
Cheap to start, expensive to get addicted.
just like, starting with instant coffee, Addicted to Specialty Coffee using professional Espresso machine that cost a Car
I’m so in agreement about coffee.
100% true. When I started it was so simple and definitely affordable
All is said. Expensive if you’re addicted.

Agreed! I’m with you!
Start cycling and you'll see.....
Oh man… my fiancé’s dad cycle and believe I know. I know some cyclists whose bikes are more expensive than the car’s they drive.
Love the transitions! Great video as usual!
Thank you brother!!!! Much appreciated
Another brilliant video. Please teach me how you make your videos. You are probably one of the best YTs in the UK.
You have no idea what feedback like this means to me!
Hi man. Great video. You are awesome. I feel you genuinely enjoy what you are doing on this channel
I appreciate that! I honestly do love this! Thanks for supporting me
Running was cheap for me when I did 5 and 10k's, when I started training for a marathon oh boy €€€
Hehehehe the gels, electrolytes and the clothes and shoes and race entries
Hilarious and right on point! Thank you! 🤣
It’s funny I know but also truth to an extent 😂😂😂. Thanks for checking it out
For real, but what running does for me mentally, I'll pay the price. 😁Another good video, as usual. Thank you, Brotha!
I like this, it’s worth it in the end

I agree. Fully agree. It can be cheap for sure.
361 flame rs SPORTPURSUIT so cheap.
some trail running events are free if you volunteer on some of their races
So true my man...😊
Saying it like it is…. Thank you
LOL--- we all know this sport is sucking us dry. I don't want to do the math ever. It's almost as bad as my wine addiction hahahaha
Heheheheh I won’t even touch that topic 😂😂😂

Love this suggestion… I might do that today if time allows
Let’s go!!! Buying this crap is more than half the fun
Hahahaha I hate how true your comment is
Very expensive sport when you get geeky with it. I’m a size 8 if you want to help a brother out 😂
Hehehehe you’d have to be lugging around a 9.5/10

That was the life for sure. I wish we all had that today… love the nostalgic sound of your experience
This was really funny and true enough for the purpose :)
Yeah, whilst some truth to it, it was lighthearted for fun and exaggerated for effect
And all these great reviews you give us only makes it more expensive for me. 😂
😂😂😂😂 us reviewers don’t help matters

EVERYTHING is expensive!!!!

Yep!!! You sound just like me! It’s all expensive though for sure!!!
Imo the biggest spend is running shoes especially after the advent of carbon plated running shoes. Rest everything else ( GPS watch, separate HRM) you may buy new one only after a couple of years or more.
100% agreed
It's all part of the fun if you can afford it😂 You look good, feel good and perform even better... Let's go!
I hear you and agree… let’s go!!!
I guess this is a bit of a jokey video, but running can be expensive if you want it to be. If you don’t make expensive choices, then it isn’t.
Agreed and yeah it was exaggerated for effect with truth in it!
100 FACT SO AUBREY WHEN ARE YOU AND ME GONNA START A SHOE BRAND/ CLOTHING THAT REVERSES THE NORM?...ONE LOVE GODBLESS SIR..LETS GO!
We can’t because we have spent all our capital or running related stuff. 😂😂😂

I’d pay for that kind of experience for sure. That means everything to me!

I had to part with my first born male child just for my shoe rotation and watch.
😂😂😂😂 this cracked me up! All for the love of running

@@AubreyRunning looking forward to it! 🥳
Running is affordable... you can make it expensive like any other sport or hobby.
I agree with you which is why I said it’s all optional but honestly speaking, the fun things are very expensive

That’s the issue with this cheap sport we love 😂
Tell me about it. 😅😅😅
Definitely not cheap anymore
I think it’s all also our fault, we choose the expensive stuff 😂😂😂
I Get The Point😂
You get it? Good! 😂😂😂. I got tired of editing and adding the prices 😂😂😂
a pair of running shoes is all you really need the rest is egoboost
I truly wish I could agree with you but even saying running shoes presents a whole spectrum of costs
