3:17 perfect example of my hair got perfect by the end of the day, when it finally dries completely, and then it's time to go to bed again. Glad I'm not the only one. Thanks for the authenticity.

I'm the owner of a very soft, rather fine hair. I noticed that they deform and straighten quite easily and quickly. I do struggle to find a styling product
that would not weight down my hair but give it a better hold. Most of the time I just embrace it. I know that curls can't look perfect all the time and there is no exceptions. Although I am aware of it, I was still a bit surprised, that your rather thick hair sometimes straighten as much as mine.
I noticed that a lot of people assume that curly hair suppose to be curly 24 hours a day. This is just not possible, unless you have a kinky/coily hair maybe. Great video, thank you!

preach 👏 always feel bad (and sort of guilty??) when i see youtubers do 'morning curl refreshs' on curls that look just as tight and defined as wash day! all hair types and textures are beautiful ❤ also please let us know if you ever find that holy grail styling product for fine hair!

I would also be curious to know if anyone comes across a good gel for fine hair! I like your observation which was bang on, I have wavy hair, and it bugs me how it can go straight pretty quick… I’ve never realized curly hair can end up rather straight!

I have found using a silk bonnet and or silk pillow case works wonders for refreshing. I used to have to soak my hair and let it dry to get my curls to wake up. I have fine 3B hair, if I’m not using my bonnet or silk pillow case I look like I’ve straightened my hair. I honestly thought that it would be a waste of money but I’m glad that I took the plunge.

Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Stronger Hold has been the best for my fine 2a hair. (I have no idea if it's CGM approved.) Also helps if it's humid outside. Hask Argan Oil 5-in-1 Leave-in Spray to refresh before going out in the evening or for day 2. I also can't rake my fingers through my hair on curly days or it will just straighten out. Gel and scrunch only on curly days. Or brush through for a smooth day. It can be the best of both worlds!
Edited to say: I can't use any cream type styling products. They just weigh down my fine low-porosity hair. Curly Susie has high-porosity hair, so cream products can be moisturizing for her.

The thing is that you should just accept the fact that the natural state of your hair is a relaxed wave... I am 3a/3b and I used to do wash n' gos. My hair lasted 7 days with no refresh. I find refreshing to be very annoying for me 😅. If I had wavy hair, I would be too lazy to do all that work every day 😂

I also love as a fellow Nova Scotian I know I can get the products you use in your videos, considering we have about half the selection available everywhere else! #NovaScotiaStrong

  • @juneagundez2468

Thank you for your honesty. I have hair similar to yours and through out the years the texture has changed a little. I’ve always embraced my curly hair and I noticed that when I was younger my curls where soft more defined and shiny. Now that I’m 53 because of the grays (I think) I have so much more frizz some of my hair curls in ringlets and some strands are wavy not curling anymore. I’ve always knew how to style and take care of my curls so my hair has been healthy for most of my life, but now it’s a different story. But it’s refreshing to see that curly hair is not always perfect (as most UA-camrs portray.) So when I saw this video I was encouraged to know that my curls are not always going to be perfect and that’s ok there’s nothing wrong with what I’m doing to my hair. It’s the blessings of having curly “fun hair” as my daughter in love says about my hair. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Susie I think it's really useful to see that not every day is a great hair day. It's like TV - a lot of stars don't look like that without a team of hairstylists and makeup artists. it's not good for anyone to have unrealistic expectations, especially when curly or wavy hair is involved. it's so dependent on the products used and our natural curl or wave pattern. The only day my hair is down just now (I have long/thick/curly/dry hair) is washday. Otherwise it's in a messy bun or a bonnet when at home and a ponytail or clip when grocery shopping. I'm masking more and minimal heat due to not refreshing as much, so I'm hoping my hair looks healthy when quarantine ends. I think it's really important to have clips, clasps, hairbands etc etc so we can put our hair up on a bad hair day when we don't have time to wash. As with everyone else mine looks it's best on washday. I shampoo and mask once every seven or eight days and normally co wash once in between. I have dry hair and a very dry scalp due to eczema, all my skin is really dry and scalp is skin. I don't get greasy as I basically don't produce any oil, but I need to hydrate my scalp and hair at least once a week. I think there are a lot of us just now who are tying our hair up and not getting too worked up about our hair - we're not out for anyone to see it. Be well and best wishes.

Love!!! The wavy-curly-straight style is almost my favourite day now, with a baby... Means it's time for an oddly pretty ponytail without "wasting" a wash day. 😅 Wash day = I'm gettin my (already falling out) hair yanked by a baby.

Thank you for doing this video, and showing your hair in its different states of curliness. I take a lot of comfort in that, because that's my hair. Every day is different, and maybe two, MAYBE three days a week I feel that I actually have a "good hair day". But I embrace my curliness and just pull it back or wear it up on those not so great days. I'd never go back to straightening it or using rollers to smooth it out. Thanks for keeping it real, Susie!

Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing a real week. I have been staying away from mousse just because it is so crunchy ,but that was when I was using it before diffusing so I think I might try it for a refresh day. I understand the temptation to be self deprecating, your hair is glorious and I strive to be as diligent as I can so I can achieve something close to that success.

Your videos are wonderful and I appreciate all your work! It been so helpful. I like my waves but after two years of no heat, and using the curly girl method as much as possible, I’ve come to the conclusion that it is way more expensive than straightening and so much more time consuming. It’s so much work ALL THE TIME, otherwise it a ratted mess. I have never spent so much on products and so much stress before, over my hair. I don’t find it worth the time and effort. Next hair appointment, I’m going back to what I was doing before which was straightening it once a week and switching it every other week or so, to waves. I feel like keeping my natural waves has consumed me, and I’m tired of thinking about hair and spending so much money on it😜. But I’m grateful for the knowledge I’ve gained from you and other UA-cam channels.♥️

We live on a ranch with 3 kids, horses, dogs and work. Gotta tie back the hair! But it kinda holds up anyway.....and I do no product days when I know I'm not leaving the place. Most of the products you've mentioned over the yrs have worked of me! I love that many of them are from the drugstore too! Although, I've been interested in the Briogeo products recently & here you are trying them! I watched your wash day video & am interested in your thoughts once you've completed your full evaluation. Also, someone asked what lipstick you mostly wear in your video's. It's the one you applied in this video with your son on your lap. Essence #4 I believe you said. I checked out the colour at my drug store. It looked much darker than the one you wear. Could you check the # again for me? I'd appreciate it as it's a great colour & it's affordable. Thanks so much. I wash twice a week and I only wear my hair down for a day or two and then up for a day or two before I wash it again. My hair does that straight roots curly/wavy ends and I tend to wear it in a ponytail when it does that so I can still have the pretty roller-esque ends showing.

This video was so helpful! Thank you so much! I recently started the curly girl method and was really struggling to find a week routine and this was exactly what I needed! Thank you so much♥️

Love you and your family. Humble and real. My refresh is usually hanging my head over the tub and using water with a little conditioner in it. I’m sure you taught me that😀

Thank you SO much for that video. It is great to see a video that you can tell is pure reality. I've only been on this "curly method" journey for a couple months, after regularly straightening a couple times a week for a very long time. I'm hoping my hair is still getting used to it because it in no way is as nice as any of the videos I watch, trying my best not to compare as I know everyone is different. I have a feeling I'm still just getting to know what works for me and haven't quite found it yet. Ugh. My hair is pretty similar in curl type to yours, probably 2C-3B. Thank you for the dose of quarantine reality, it helps!!

Susie- you are just cute as can be. Your hair is looking fabulous these days- even in a ponytail. I've tried your quickie mousse refresh but my hair felt so hard and crispy and like it was glued together. It didn't look horrible but I could not stand how it felt.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! Super detailed and realistic! Now I feel better knowing I’m not the only one who has to refresh more than once a week! Saturday was my favorite day from u waking up looking a little crazy to the final result of that wash day 😅🥰

I always wondered how to say that word: tooook. Not what I would have guessed. You really have gorgeous hair. In the winter I wash my hair every fifth day, but summers are really hot in Texas and my scalp sweats like crazy. My hair is a whole new level of trouble in the summer!

This is fantastic thanks for this video! I’m just starting to embrace my natural curls and have been so frustrated. I spend so much more time styling my naturally curly hair compared to when I had chemically straightened hair and since I shower at night even when I put my hair up in a pineapple it looks super messy the next day. I guess I need to adjust my expectations a bit 😊

Thank you for making me realise my crazy, only looks good for one day, curls/waves, are ok. Really useful routine info - I wet my hair for refreshing the same way and to be honest sometimes I think my refresh looks better than wash day 🤷‍♀️. Stay safe and love from the UK 😀

This is the BEST VIDEO YET!!!!!! We have exactly the same hair. I'm so glad to see someone who has the same hair type, I could relate to everything!. Are you still liking the Briogeo curl cream? Wanting to know if it is holding up to your initial review. Thanks again from New Waterford.

Hey Dian! Thank you so much. I didn’t want to love the Briogeo line as much as I do because it’s WAY too expensive. But I will 100% repurchase the conditioner & creme if it goes on sale. I keep checking Sephora

Watching this a year later. Thank you, Curly Susie!!!
I thought discovering i had wavy on top, curly on the bottom hair would be easier... it's definitely not!! I just blow-dried my hair straight after a year of trying the CGM method...I had several days of absolutely no worries, no refreshing.
I will probably try to continue to work with my wavy/curly hair because I don't want to damage it blow drying. Ugh!
I might get a permanent wave to even out my textures and make it easier to deal with. Decisions...decisions...

I LOVE you and your videos and am excited to check out your new channel too. What other conditioners do you like that have a lot of slip besides the Tresemme Botanique??? I loved the Tropikal Bliss(but it takes so long to get it) and I like the Shea Moisture Leave In. I am a Bioterra gel fan too.

Soooo helpful, I re started the method and I am determined to
    a) not get overwhelmed and keep it simple
    b) just cream and gel for 1 month😱 maybe mousse to refresh 🤞
Please keep making videos, I adore you. Be safe and a very Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and your family ❤️

Managed to watch this whole video with a toddler playing on my lap! Win. =) Seeing you with precious (but distracting) Wilson and your cat made me laugh. I haven't done much to my hair while in lockdown, but I have taken up one of your tips--I haven't brushed or combed my hair in over a month!--just finger combing in the shower. I actually love my wavy/crimpy carefree hair now and some curls are forming in the front, where it's normally straight. Thanks!
