I am new to the CGM, and this is exactly what I needed to remind myself that its a process, everyday is different and it dosent mean what you are doing is wrong when your results vary day to day. I also love as a fellow Nova Scotian I know I can get the products you use in your videos, considering we have about half the selection available everywhere else! #NovaScotiaStrong

I'm the owner of a very soft, rather fine hair. I noticed that they deform and straighten quite easily and quickly. I do struggle to find a styling product
that would not weight down my hair but give it a better hold. Most of the time I just embrace it. I know that curls can't look perfect all the time and there is no exceptions. Although I am aware of it, I was still a bit surprised, that your rather thick hair sometimes straighten as much as mine.
I noticed that a lot of people assume that curly hair suppose to be curly 24 hours a day. This is just not possible, unless you have a kinky/coily hair maybe. Great video, thank you!

preach 👏 always feel bad (and sort of guilty??) when i see youtubers do 'morning curl refreshs' on curls that look just as tight and defined as wash day! all hair types and textures are beautiful ❤ also please let us know if you ever find that holy grail styling product for fine hair!

I would also be curious to know if anyone comes across a good gel for fine hair! I like your observation which was bang on, I have wavy hair, and it bugs me how it can go straight pretty quick… I’ve never realized curly hair can end up rather straight!

I have found using a silk bonnet and or silk pillow case works wonders for refreshing. I used to have to soak my hair and let it dry to get my curls to wake up. I have fine 3B hair, if I’m not using my bonnet or silk pillow case I look like I’ve straightened my hair. I honestly thought that it would be a waste of money but I’m glad that I took the plunge.

Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Stronger Hold has been the best for my fine 2a hair. (I have no idea if it's CGM approved.) Also helps if it's humid outside. Hask Argan Oil 5-in-1 Leave-in Spray to refresh before going out in the evening or for day 2. I also can't rake my fingers through my hair on curly days or it will just straighten out. Gel and scrunch only on curly days. Or brush through for a smooth day. It can be the best of both worlds!
Edited to say: I can't use any cream type styling products. They just weigh down my fine low-porosity hair. Curly Susie has high-porosity hair, so cream products can be moisturizing for her.

The thing is that you should just accept the fact that the natural state of your hair is a relaxed wave... I am 3a/3b and I used to do wash n' gos. My hair lasted 7 days with no refresh. I find refreshing to be very annoying for me 😅. If I had wavy hair, I would be too lazy to do all that work every day 😂

Just so you know Curly Susie, ALL your video's are valuable & entertaining! I so appreciate your honesty. I never feel like your trying give us a sales pitch like so many other UA-cam influencers. Your evaluation of the products you choose is refreshing. Most of the products you've mentioned over the yrs have worked of me! I love that many of them are from the drugstore too! Although, I've been interested in the Briogeo products recently & here you are trying them! I watched your wash day video & am interested in your thoughts once you've completed your full evaluation. Also, someone asked what lipstick you mostly wear in your video's. It's the one you applied in this video with your son on your lap. Essence #4 I believe you said. I checked out the colour at my drug store. It looked much darker than the one you wear. Could you check the # again for me? I'd appreciate it as it's a great colour & it's affordable. Thanks so much. Stay safe! I'm a Canadian girl too!

Lol I dont know why but scense starting the CGM I have not worn my hair up once in 8 months. Other then my pineapple under my bonnet before bed. I have been afraid to pull my curls back because I feel it is possible I might loose progress by pulling my strands up and back. My top layer seems to be taking longer to transition. So I often wonder if pulling it back will just stretch em out and make the process of transitioning longer. My hair really needs some curl memory, and I think it needs to be free to find its curl families to gain this lol. Has anyone noticed their hair transition while pulling it back?

We live on a ranch with 3 kids, horses, dogs and work. Gotta tie back the hair! But it kinda holds up anyway.....and I do no product days when I know I'm not leaving the place. Hi Susie I think it's really useful to see that not every day is a great hair day. It's like TV - a lot of stars don't look like that without a team of hairstylists and makeup artists. it's not good for anyone to have unrealistic expectations, especially when curly or wavy hair is involved. it's so dependent on the products used and our natural curl or wave pattern. The only day my hair is down just now (I have long/thick/curly/dry hair) is washday. Otherwise it's in a messy bun or a bonnet when at home and a ponytail or clip when grocery shopping. I'm masking more and minimal heat due to not refreshing as much, so I'm hoping my hair looks healthy when quarantine ends. I think it's really important to have clips, clasps, hairbands etc etc so we can put our hair up on a bad hair day when we don't have time to wash. As with everyone else mine looks it's best on washday. I shampoo and mask once every seven or eight days and normally co wash once in between. I have dry hair and a very dry scalp due to eczema, all my skin is really dry and scalp is skin. I don't get greasy as I basically don't produce any oil, but I need to hydrate my scalp and hair at least once a week. I think there are a lot of us just now who are tying our hair up and not getting too worked up about our hair - we're not out for anyone to see it. Be well and best wishes.

Your videos are wonderful and I appreciate all your work! It been so helpful. I like my waves but after two years of no heat, and using the curly girl method as much as possible, I’ve come to the conclusion that it is way more expensive than straightening and so much more time consuming. It’s so much work ALL THE TIME, otherwise it a ratted mess. I have never spent so much on products and so much stress before, over my hair. I don’t find it worth the time and effort. Next hair appointment, I’m going back to what I was doing before which was straightening it once a week and switching it every other week or so, to waves. I feel like keeping my natural waves has consumed me, and I’m tired of thinking about hair and spending so much money on it😜. But I’m grateful for the knowledge I’ve gained from you and other UA-cam channels.♥️

Thank you for your honesty. I have hair similar to yours and through out the years the texture has changed a little. I’ve always embraced my curly hair and I noticed that when I was younger my curls where soft more defined and shiny. Now that I’m 53 because of the grays (I think) I have so much more frizz some of my hair curls in ringlets and some strands are wavy not curling anymore. I’ve always knew how to style and take care of my curls so my hair has been healthy for most of my life, but now it’s a different story. But it’s refreshing to see that curly hair is not always perfect (as most UA-camrs portray.) So when I saw this video I was encouraged to know that my curls are not always going to be perfect and that’s ok there’s nothing wrong with what I’m doing to my hair. It’s the blessings of having curly “fun hair” as my daughter in love says about my hair. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Susie! Thank you so much for making this video, it's not every day you get to see an actual behind the scenes video of our favorite curly haired people living their life as normal and showing their hair at the same time. You have been super helpful to me as we have the same hair texture, and I officially started the CGM March 1st of this year. (Unofficially I've always worn my hair curly but never took care of it or bothered to learn how so it was always in a bun or a braid or whatever else.) I was just wondering, did you do any sort of curl training when in transition like finger coiling or using the denman brush etc? Did your curls eventually just come back to how they are now on their own? How long did it take for them to clump and form and remember how to act?

I thought discovering i had wavy on top, curly on the bottom hair would be easier... it's definitely not!! I just blow-dried my hair straight after a year of trying the CGM method...I had several days of absolutely no worries, no refreshing.
I will probably try to continue to work with my wavy/curly hair because I don't want to damage it blow drying. Ugh!
I might get a permanent wave to even out my textures and make it easier to deal with. Decisions...decisions...

monday- wash day (regular shampoo, conditioner, and leave in)
    tuesday- no wash just refreshable
wednesday- co wash and deep conditioning (leave in conditioner after)
    thursday- none just refreshable
    friday- co wash

This always seems like so much effort but when I think about it I’d be straightening it or curling it anyway, probably the same amount of time

How long does it take for waves to return after you have used a flat iron for a while, I didn’t straighten totally I just flattened top and waved ends all winter ? I now have a bunch of frizz and look like bozo. I also have been going gray for two years and didn’t realize without color my hair burns more easily so now I have frizz.

I honestly really loved seeing your evaluations of your hair, and the ways you refresh and why. Thank you for making this! And also, I’m pleased to hear you say “toque.” It’s still called that, all the way on the west coast :)

Mom of 2 and entrepreneur too. Thank goodness we don't have to be bloody perfect everyday! I cannot have my hair in my face. I would love for someone to have an epiphany on how to air dry without the hair in your eye! So I can work in the morning and actually go out at lunch time with reasonable hair.... not still wet kinda crunchy hair.

My curls hold pretty well but I always get tangles especially on the area my hair is thinner and I don’t know how to avoid the most breakages as possible, I am about to try the silk pillow hope for it will help. I love your hair density, mine is too fine...

So I’ve never slept on a silk pillowcase. Is that a must have? And do you slide off of your pillowcase all the time?

Do you have low or high porosity hair? What exactly is the difference in terms of what types of products to use. I notice that if I use too much conditioner too often my hair just gets too soft and frizzy and loses the curl. When I clarify it is much better but it seems I have to clarify often to get desired results.

Loved this realistic and in depth video! Our curl patterns are so similar and I relate to how the curl pattern will unintentionally fall out throughout the week. Also I recommend a satin scarf or a bonnet to bed instead of the pineapple.

This is the BEST VIDEO YET!!!!!! We have exactly the same hair. I'm so glad to see someone who has the same hair type, I could relate to everything!. Are you still liking the Briogeo curl cream? Wanting to know if it is holding up to your initial review. Thanks again from New Waterford.

Hey Dian! Thank you so much. I didn’t want to love the Briogeo line as much as I do because it’s WAY too expensive. But I will 100% repurchase the conditioner & creme if it goes on sale. I keep checking Sephora

This is fantastic thanks for this video! I’m just starting to embrace my natural curls and have been so frustrated. I spend so much more time styling my naturally curly hair compared to when I had chemically straightened hair and since I shower at night even when I put my hair up in a pineapple it looks super messy the next day. I guess I need to adjust my expectations a bit 😊

What would you suggest for someone who thought they had straight hair that was just frizzy, a friend said they may have texture. So I started the curly girl method about 4 days ago and it is wavy and messy and still frizzy? Any tips to help my hair find its natural wave/curl pattern?
