Robin, I used to constantly bounce my legs. I used to zone out. I used to have my heart beat out of my chest when I thought about or talked about my trauma. I used to not trust. What changed? I finally was in a place in my life where I felt safe enough emotionally that I could go to "Trauma Counseling". Trauma Counseling is very different from regular counseling or psychiatry. My trauma counselor was Dr. Sgt. Denny Conroy, St Paul, MN. He was both a police officer and a trained trauma counselor. I spent 4 years bit by bit, as I felt strength to do it, talking about what happened; healing bit by bit as I talked it out of me. Healing with a safe person who got me. All of those symptoms of trauma are gone now. It is extremely painful and you have to feel ready emotionally to tackle trauma counseling, but it is worth it! I hate people telling me I am a survivor. I did survive but I am so much more than just a survivor. God bless, Robin.

I went on to be an alpinist, trekker, successful in my work - just didn't have kids for obvious reasons but am now a happy mom and Granny to an African family. Your comment was sooo insightful!! I’m glad she has the support system she has in her life!! I hope your message gets to her somehow, someway. She said she only trusts law enforcement, perhaps she could get in contact with who helped you or someone retired in her circle could be there with her to walk through it. It’s unfortunate that she’s not ready to face the pain of the trauma yet, because it’s painful to see her struggle as you observed. Because once she does, and she gets some relief, a little healing, and some tools, I can really see her helping children all over the world if she wants. She could be driven to a career in law enforcement, if she so chooses. My greatest hope for her is healing. Because, I’d love for her to be set free from the pain, so she can move forward, help others and do exactly what that officer said he wants to live to see!!!

I'm tired of people using excuses as to why they do what they do.
I personally was molested from age 3 to 9
Was mentally, physically, and emotionally tortured by someone I called my dad. I didn't learn until later the same had happened to him. I broke the cycle, for this I live in peace and will also die with peace in my heart for not continuing that fear of him waking me up at 1 in the morning.
This makes me a very harsh person, and very easy to anger.
Somehow I have chosen to use that for good.
I choose to be kind and caring and wait for the day of my calling whenever someone is in distress I'll be there for anyone.
Maybe that's why when I was in middle and high school if I ever noticed someone being bullied.

She says she doesn’t need counseling. I beg to differ. She lives in a state of fear and anxiety. She afraid empty houses and the dark. That I not reasonable for a 22 year old woman. She desperately needs professional help to move beyond these fears. I hope the people close to her eventually convince her to go someplace with a compassionate therapist to help her process the grief. She doesn’t have to be Superman. Everyone needs help sometimes.

@@jonathanstephens7015It would take a special kind of therapist to help Robin. Unfortunately, many therapists use the same old overused approach with clients. @@jonathanstephens7015Eh, I think it's completely natural to feel that way in her situation. There's no way to "process" some things. Life can be a nightmare for a lot of humans and it's okay to feel scared. Life is scary in a lot of ways. No amount of counseling removes reality.

    • @jonathanstephens7015
      @jonathanstephens7015 8 місяців тому +13

That’s not true. Solid therapy can improve one’s mental outlook. Trauma manifests in humans with startlingly similar outcomes. These are treatable and the processes have helped countless people overcome their trauma. Sure, you are correct that life is sometimes scary. That’s unavoidable and worse for some people. Having your family annihilated in front of you is as bad as it gets. That should not be a life sentence for this young woman. She can and hopefully will learn some coping skills to overcome all that burdens her. The fact that she so vehemently declares she doesn’t need therapy is a great indicator that she likely does. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if she someday engages in self destructive behaviors if she doesn’t confront her darkest emotions. Either way, I wish her well and hope her life is long and prosperous.

    I cried… 🥺
Familiar tears. Because I have also lost most of my family to tragic circumstances. 😔
My mom. My dad. My sisters. My grandpa. My uncles. My brother in laws. My step dad.
I was nine years old when my mom died.
From that point, it’s like dominoes continued to fall every couple of years. Car accident after car accident.
Now I am 52 years old. To this day I still have my moments where I am still the nine year old little boy… sitting by my mom’s casket…. desperately wanting her to “wake up”.
It’s such a painful, cold and silent void.
    To Robin,
The right thing to say to someone who is grieving and overcoming trauma can be a tricky thing.
Through all of the tragic funerals that I have had to sit through, I have heard it all. Sorry for your loss… God has a plan… Remember the good times…
They may be gone but you still have their memories…. You will see them again some day…. Don’t be sad because they are in heaven now….
For me, none of those words brought me any sort of comfort. 😔
It seems that you have a beautiful bunch of people supporting you. Your positive and loving spirit is heart warming and inspirational.
When you have those moments of sadness, loneliness and grief…
…. please know that you are not alone. 🥹
I hold on to the thought that some day… all of the wrongs will be made right. Most of all, I hope that I can one day experience the embrace of my mom again.

She goes on to say that she doesnt need to speak to a professional, but then talks about how she has a list of “superstitions” that she has to complete before feeling safe. That is not true healing. She has done IMMENSE healing on her own, but you also need professional guidance. Just my opinion as someone who has lost both parents and was resistant to treatment. My Mom, my Dad, my Big brother our dog and Sheep and cattle... This is pretty much my family.... And omg sweet heart, 10 years old😢... I am 53 now, but this just grabbed my heart completely, because I also worked 20 years as a Paramedic, so the Police saying she ran out into his arms, I know what that feels like, my God I know how that feels like.... God Bless, and prayers and Love... I send you a huge hug Young Lady, you are amazing, there is nothing fair about what happened with your family, even your doggie and to you beautiful young lady😢❤.... You deserve everything good in your life for the rest of your life❤😢❤ Do not ever forget that❤

Robin is an amazing young lady. She made me cry for just being so strong and resilient. I love how the law enforcement guys have kept in contact, and they take care of her. That guy should have gotten the death sentence. I hope the other young man too, whose mum and granddad were killed, will be okay. The killer should never have been released before serving his ten years in the first place. It would probably have prevented all this.

I know she said she doesn't need a therapist, but she does. Therapist don't just ask you, "How do you feel", or pat you on the back. A good therapist helps give you tools to work through your trauma, and even though she's surrounded by people who have helped her, she still needs someone to help with her phobias and ptsd.

What a strong young woman. I’m so impressed with her and so happy she’s got her own “new” family of LE and friends. Wish her nothing but joy, she’s earned it.

This dirtbag should have still been locked up!
I wonder how the parole board who let him out after serving 20% of his sentence felt after these crimes.

why do you say he was let out? did he got released?
I found this: ¨Incarcerated in a Missouri State Penitentiary serving two life sentences without the possibility of parole.¨

He was jailed BEFORE the murders to 14 years but was released early

@diadea4366 he was let out after his first crime, where he burned his own relatives' house down. Served less than 3 of 14 years he was sentenced to. This was about 4 years prior to all the murders.

@@diadea4366, highflyer001 is referring to the murderer's incarceration prior to the murders. Levi King had been released early and sent to a halfway house--from which he escaped. Had he served his full fourteen years, the victims may very well still be alive.

What a strong girl grew into a strong woman. I wanted to give her a hug and tell her to continue to stay strong. I'm so glad to hear she has some wonderful people in her life to give her support, that was my first thought as a mom was who.

What a remarkable young lady. Her whole attitude of not giving up is an inspiration. Yes, one of her purposes is to show that we can all go on despite our tragedy. Just an amazing resilience she has. Prayers for her and all the people who have taken her under their wings.

So proud of Robin's resilience and determination to keep going and not let evil ruin her life. This is an amazing story on survivor triumph. Kudos to all the Law Enforcement in the Pampa area that responded and have stayed in Robin's life. #ProudTexan.

It's comforting to know that law enforcement kept her close and guarded her. It's so beautiful to see that they get traumatized as well, but they have big hearts.
    Very uplifting episode.
    Many blessings to all. ❤🎉

This is the hardest 48 hours I have ever watched. Robin is the brightest light. She shines for her whole family. She teaches us all what it means to lead with love and kindness. Darkness could not overpower Robin’s extraordinary light.
I pray that Robin’s life is filled with joy and love and the kind of happiness that always prevails because it is intentional and so deserved.
