    This show is called Conviction.

    Adrian Ernest Bayley pleaded guilty to Meagher's rape and murder in April 2013. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a 35-year non-parole period. His bid to appeal his minimum term, in September 2013, was unsuccessful. In May 2015, Bayley was sentenced to another 18 years and his non-parole period was extended from 35 to 43 years for three other rape convictions. In July 2016, the sentence was reduced to 40 years, deducting three years of the term, making Bayley eligible for parole in 2055.

      Exactly. I find that to be not only willfully ignorant and even criminal of these judges, but it seems actually very bizarre. They must've known someone with his history would only get worse instead of better. I'd be disgusted to be a wife or daughter of these judges.

      @@kokoyaroI think you're playing the victim card a little bit here. Sadly there's been enough husbands/boyfriend's that have killed their significant others, that questioning them is justified. If that weren't the case, the police wouldn't need to interogate them to the degree they do and It would be highly irresponsible for them not to. It's awful that innocent men who are already grieving have to endure that, but parents have to go through similar if their child dies from suspicious circumstances. Heck, even a babysitter/nanny would get grilled.

We only need protection from men and husbands are the number one perpetrator hence why they are the first person suspected. Make YOUR gender do better!

I feel empathy for him, but they always start with the partner first when ruling out suspects. You notice he wasn't held responsible when they found the killer, they held the killer responsible. In fact, they ruled him out fairly early on in this case, before they had another suspect even.

    The justice system sure wasn't against him, nor the parole board. If men were the usual victims of sexual assault, I'll bet they wouldnt go so soft on these monsters. He forces himself on many many women, and then takes a woman's life, but the world's against him.

  • @secretdiva9414
    @secretdiva9414 3 місяці тому +6

    This monster was given $5000 bail after brutally attacking and SA dozens of sex workers in 2001. Nothing ever happened to him until he attacked a ‘respectable precious woman’. He offended whilst on bail and 2 weeks after this bail a woman who had travelled from 6 hours drive away from Melbourne reported to the then, rape squad a man exactly fitting his description had abducted and attacked her. The policeman at the time dismissed her report by saying “and what were you doing there at that time anyway” as if she was a sexworker. He was jailed for a few years after his trial and then committed his crime against Jill as well as several others who managed to escape. His mother tried to warn “high up” police many times about her concerns about her son but they didn’t act on her reports. Australia is so much behind the rest of the world when it comes to profiling and accepting the research on serial Sex offenders. Yes these cops did a good job but you can imagine how scared they were knowing the public would eventually find out how the system had failed the community the past.

    I admire the family and the police. Although there were reforms made to the parole board due to this, I feel the overall problem to this day is still not being address. HUGE changes need to be made to the law, courts and sentence! Stop allowing repeat offenders chances. Most crimes start small (eg. theft to support a drug habit), but these crimes are continually repeated by the offenders and they get away with the crime, charges are reduce, or short sentence given. Offenders know this and treat it like a joke, they also know to use the poor me card. Fix the LAWS, COURT, PAROLE BOARD, PRISON SYSTEM. Violience (domestic or otherwise) is laughed at. IVO's sadly not strong enough. Sorry the list goes on. It's going to take work and unity of all to fix, so lets approach our politicians who are the onces to start the ball rolling in changing the laws.
