Today we check out the Ducky / Varmilo Miya Pro Sakura Edition mechanical keyboard.

A company from Taiwan and a company from China team up to make a keyboard inspired by Japan.
Because it makes sense.
Perhaps it has it meaning, The Sakura flower reminds viewers that life is short and beautiful in a spiritual sense. Just as the lives of our human race is just a tiny part of the millions of years the earth has gone through, we as enemies should work on the differences and work towards a better outcome.
I feel this product symbolizes that.
Japanese stuff and culture is super popular in Taiwan in recent years, so it makes a lot of sense....

I bought this one for my wife. As a Leopold fc660m mx-clear and fc660c topre user I thought this board would make a great addition to our home. Btw I'm getting the tada68 loved your build and review
This is the first time I've met a fellow topre user on youtube in a non-topre video, and I also use the 660c as well. Good choice :)
I'm also a Topre user same model, soon I will try Brown Switches and other mechanical keyboards. :)
welcome to the rabbit hole hahah.. i always say life is short finding something you like is always a good thing ;-) ..i just discovered kbdfans and orderd my first kit to solder.. spend a ton of $$ getting all the gear needed including a desoldering station ahhaha i did try to keep cost down.. but even small amounts add up to be more than i thought..on the Topclack discord channel someone said something funny to me.. good advice ahah..Neve add up what you spend in this hobby ..hahah good luck mate..See you in the keyboard forums.. like Deskthority and geekhack.
yah i spend a lot of $$ tweaking and adding to my topre over time.. Like hypersphere's lube,, Hasu controller ....btw i look forward to getting my tada68 with kailh pro purple.. i heard they have actuation at the top like we are use to in topre.. will see
Topre FC660C user here as well, this is an absolute amazing keyboard. Interestingly, topre key switches actually makes me appreciate MX brown/clear a bit more, currently looking for a board with mx brown/clear in the same form as the FC660c, looks like varmilo is a great option.

does the cool light changing functions work also on the normal Varmilo mech keys or is this the only one that has this fearure?
I just got the regular one, only full and breathing mode as far as I've seen. Super disappointed. Thought there was just the switch versions and the smaller and full keyboards. Not pro vs reglar (and checked after. The pro isn't even for sale where I got mine)
how would you use the functions with out f1, f2 etc. just out of curiosity
can you reset a profile or all of them? or something cuz i messed up in one of them

That was me for 9 years with a logitech k120 xD totally happy, then I tried a mechanical keyboard, saw some amazing keycaps, after a few days found a beautiful Varmilo and 1 week later I finally decided which one I want the most and just ordered :D

I grabbed a zowie s2 Divina pink mouse and needed to get a keyboard that I could make match so I got a white Anne pro 2 and got pink keycaps. I think pink keyboards are beautiful! And very nice to look at

I think this keyboard is made by Varmilo than Ducky. They just put a Ducky brand name on it for marketing

You should try a varmilo. Leopold and Varmilo are my favorite brands for pre-built keyboards. When modified, they're quite awesome too.
I own the Varmilo VA88M Sakura and can completely ensure you that the stabilizers are all rattle free, its such a nice feeling typing on it even tho im already using it for more than 3 months now!
That amazes me. All my prebuilt keyboards have rattle.
Is the Varmilo website legitimate? That's my only query with the purchase of a Varmilo keyboard so far, and that is finding a appropriate retailer of a UK ISO VA88M, and the only site that seems to sell it is the 'Official' site, that is unusually unsecured on my browser which makes me a little cautious.
Try caps-unlocked, they're an EU based retailer! I haven't ordered from them myself, but I'm planning to. Varmilo's site is super buggy for some reason.
This is by far one of the prettiest mechanical keyboards I've ever seen

I use mine as my daily home keyboard. As a stock keyboard it's pretty decent (Why are there no volume keys on the function layer? Seriously).
However, I swapped the switches for Zealios 78g, and I can say that this is one of the worst PCBs I've ever soldered on.
Other than that (And the less than perfect Fn layer) I can say that looking at this keyboard on my desk gets me every time, it's absolutely stunning.
Can you see every letter well even in a fully dark room ?
When you took off the case, how many plastic tabs did you have to release? I can get the middle two out pretty easily, but the board is still attached.

Could someone link me this keyboard with silent blacks in ansi? I can't seem to find it at all.
If I had that keyboard I would put something like a piece of blue tack or else under the page up and down keys and keep the backlight off.

I am currently using this amazing keyboard (MX red switch) !!!
The color and the texture and the sakura imprint are so nice.
But maybe I got an earlier version of it, coz it doesn't light up apart from the CAPLOCK and PAGE UP/DOWN keys.
Anyway, it's a nice choice if you want to try sth different. BTW, it will make a great gift to the ladies.
How are reds? Do they feel scratchy or are the enthusiasts exaggerating?

The clap is a great reference for relative sound for the typing sound test
Literally the two best beginner brands team up to make a dope board. I love it. Really silent board. Not really seeing the ducky portion of the board, but still cool nonetheless
These are both two very established players in the market though. Especially Ducky's been around for a good while and Varmilo has close ties to Leopold.
MaraudingMaster you just restated what i said. The two best brands you can buy for beginners. By that i mean you’re not building it yourself.
I love pink so f♡cking much this is going to be my dream keyboard from now on I'll work very hard on my job till i can buy this when i become successful
it's only like $130 or some shit. You'll get more than that on your first paycheck.
The LED bleed kind of ruins it for me on the pink key caps

Vortex Almost.. silent blacks are just dampened as the name implies. Same weight.
V of Varmilo is silent. Pronounce like Armilo actually.

I'm generally quite a masculine guy but I think this brings out my girly side and i will buy the shit out of this keyboard if it was topre, I just can't go back to cherry mx after moving to topre.

I got one of these with Cherry MX silvers a few weeks ago - I get horrible ping from the steel plate - is there any way I can dampen the noise?
That's interesting, as it does have foam on the inside as well. Not really sure what to do there :(

Thanks for the teardown. I have to open up mine and now I know what to do and to be really careful. I got one with the silent red switches. I got a ducky one 2 mini with silent reds and it's inside a kbd fans alum purple case. I have to say that the typing experience on the varmilo is noticeably nicer. especially because of the better stabs.

Jo, i bought it in germany (from a retailer not varmilo itself) and i am just kidding i know you are not mocking me. i thought about getting it replaced but i am to lazy because i can use it just fine for my purposes

Anyone know if the Miya pro pcb/internals would fit into a VA68m case? On just the outside looks, it seems that the mini usb cutout may interfere with the usb c port of the board.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP. I got this in the mail today, finally, and I was so hype to use it. Brown switches feel great. BUT THE NUMBERS WONT WORK. Literally every key on the top does not work. Anyone have a fix???
Press FN + page up. From memory, that should change between numbers, and the F1-F12 keys.

Mm... I'm thinking about purchasing this board, but the only thing deterring me away from it compared to the Vamrilo VA68M Sakura is the option for media control keys. Is there anyways to access those on the Miya Pro?

I‘m trying to release the PCB/plate unit from the bottom unit, but it sticks around the USB-C port. anyone know if there are any hidden screws ?

@@maxb1126 Hey. I actually was able to get it out. There are no further screws. You just have to be careful . Do not bend the PCB/Plate combo upwards. Try to push it down slightly , then lift upwards.
I have done this several times now without breaking anything.
I was doing this because of the terrible spring ping of the mx browns. I tried to lube them without desoldering using an RC car silicon oil that is rather thick. Works perfect, spring ping is gone. Totally different board now.
@@cowardharpendale you’re a life saver, i really appreciate your reply! i spent over an hour trying to get into the case and when i couldn’t get the pcb out easily i felt so defeated. i also wanna get at mine for spring ping reasons (mx reds) and to get re-attached to it by modding it for fun. thanks again :)
@@maxb1126 You're welcome. I know it feels like you're breaking it, but it will come out. Try to pry the case just above the usb port, gently lift and pull a little towards you and then up.
I also swapped the foam for neoprene from aliexpress (4mm and 2mm). This also improved the board alot.
I was actually ready to desolder but I thought I might give the silicone oil a try by pushing down the switch and then inserting the oil with a brush. Took about 3 drops per switch and a little break in time. Ping completely gone :)

There is a fn key just like controlling rgb any 60-65% keyboard will have secondary keys just need to fn then it will have it

How does one reset all profiles on this keyboard because I've not used it for a few month because of set problem and not I'm researching, well.. trying.. so everytime I press a number key at the top it doesn't let me press the numbers it does stupid shit like open google, highlight everything and open my control panel settings... no idea what I have done but I'm sure I've set up a profile and pressed buttons I'm not sure of and now I'm not sure how to get it back to factory settings. Any recommendations if anyone knows this fix PLEASE do let me know!

Was a missed opportunity for Ducky to use Sakurios, because those switches sound the same, why didn't they just use those? Eh nvm Zeal probably wouldn't want to work with ducky because all the little fortnite kids use their keyboards
