There's one more entity you didn’t mention that ties both the Psion leaders and Nezarec together: *The Veil.* It also from Micah's stray Ghost quests that we learn that not only did The Witness want to Nezarec to conquer The pre-Cabal Psions, but that it desired the Psions to be utilized with The Veil. Why? I'm not sure, but whenever The Witness took an interest in an entire speices (like the Kril or the Fundamental Leviathans) it was never a good thing. It also could explain why The Dread started following the Psions after The Witnesses's demise. Besides the fact a large portion of the Dread are made of "finalized" Psions, The Witness did have plans for them long ago. Something that probably destroyed their civilization and drove the survivors into Cabal enslavement...only for untold years later for many of them to return to The Witness in a form of cosmic irony. That memory/revelation combined with the fact that Nezarec held The Veil during the Collapse (before Savathûn killed him likely using The Veil's power) seems to imply that Nezarec's role was as The Veil's keeper of sorts.
I love this theory and as a warlock I have to speculate with you. It does make some degree of sense that Nezerec would be entrusted with the veil as it's keeper. He was the only disciple who could draw on Psionic power, Not physic and there is a difference there. The veil seemed to empower Nezerec to some degree as well. If savathun hadn't killed him during the collapse i think his power alone would have been enough to destroy the system.
@@inquisitorichijou883 Oh I am aware, but we've learned they were no the only ones the Qugu and the Fundamental Leviathans/Proto-Worms. So something about the Psions and their psionic/psychic powers may have been very special to earn the Witness's attention.
There's also the question of what happened to Amtek, is she, the 4th Psion Flayer sister, still alive. If so, that's another powerful Psion figure to contend with, though they likely would be aligned with Yiriks. It's also interesting that we're starting to face the forces of Yiriks at the same time we're the story has been focusing on Saint 14 and the ramifications of us saving him from the Infinite Forest, by our use of Osiris' Sundial. The Sundial was a fixation of the Psion Flayer sisters. All of these related threads coming back around again.
We’re finally talking about Otzot! She’s literally the only remaining figure aside from Caiatl involved in the Midnight Coup, yet the empress doesn’t ever bring her up.
Nezarec is such an interesting character. Let’s not forget the fact that he was living in people’s heads rent free ever since D2, year one with the lore from Nezrec’s Sin! He has great potential to be the next “big bad”. Only way I see us killing him, is using the power of prismatic to erase the idea and memory of him. By traveling to psyonic realm some have theorized he goes to when he dies. Where his spirit persists. If no one ever knew or remembers him, than effectively, The Final God of Pain would be dead. That’s my theory anyway to how we’d end him. As for ending Savathun and Xivu? Hard to say. Ever since Taken King, it felt like the narrative team was setting us up to kill the whole Hive pantheon and the Worm Gods.
According to Bungie, we will be ending the Worm Gods story in Episode Revenant. As for Nezarec, I find the idea of killing him by destroying the very memory of him to be an intriguing one. In fact, that would make for a very interesting story, possibly even the basis of an entire episode (Episode Chalice?) in its own right, one where we fight the Shadow Legion, Taken, and Dread to stop Nezarec's return. Otzot could be trying to remake the OXA machine so that she might work out how to destroy Nezarec and truly free her people.
@@kailuunI believe the story involving the Hive, is Heresy. But, if this dies appear to be the case, and we hunt down and kill the last of the Worm Gods, what does that mean for the Hive? (It’s a rhetorical question). Mara stated before, without the Worms to keep the Hive alive, they will die out to extinction. The Worm Gods supply the Worms. So, if we kill them, it’s likely Hive presence across Sol and beyond will gradually, but harshly, decline. The billions of Hive, could dwindle to a few hundred. But, if we do this, and later kill Xivu to take back Torrobaiatl, there could be one last player of the Hive to take over what remains of the Osmium dynasty: Savathun. But, I likely see any darkness aligned Hive doing what they’ve always done: consume and destroy. While for Savathun’s Lucent Brood, the reveal of a Lucent Hive Wizard that genuinely wants to fight for Sol, the Traveler, and with us, shows that the Hive may split further. With a number of Hive deserting Savathun. You’d have rogue-darkness aligned Hive that will gradually die out, that have no God and Worm God to follow, the Hive deserters that may join the Coalition, and Savathun’s loyalist brood, that will help her achieve her goals. But even then, if we kill Savathun and Xivu for good, I see one last person that would try to empower and lead the dying and few, weakened Hive left: Toland the Shattered. Reborn as a Hive God of Chaos by the Worm Gods as a desperate ploy.
That dialogue after the Insight Terminus was excellent!!! In fact, all the lore drops we got in those post campaign missions were awesome. Love seeing the writers really play around with the world we've set up. So many references!
I think that Yirix became the Witness's final disciple. In the wake of the Witness's fall, she now commands a sizable army of Shadow Legion, Taken, and Dread. The question is, where does Otzot fit in with all this? I ask because we have a Taken Psion in the Pale Heart called Lyrix; Sacrificed of Otzot. What does Sacrificed of Otzot mean? Regardless, I do like the idea of a potential power struggle between Yirix and Otzot for control of the Shadow Legion.
The one thing left unanswered, is whether Yirix remains a Psion, or whether they were reshaped into a Herald/Omen along with so many other Psions. It'd explain having command over Dread forces, and a certain degree of control over Shadow Legion too. A similar point could perhaps be made for Otzot I suppose, but without clear ties to The Dread, its a harder point to make. However, from a story PoV I think its much better and perhaps scarier, that Yirix remain a Psion. They're a race with high mental acuity to the point of harnessing Psionics (which may/may not be paracausal in nature, leaning towards not). The ability to subjugate "high tier" combatants of The Dread, is a terrifying feat, are they a Flayer? Could they be seeking the Echo of Command in pursuit of some higher form of Ascension? Some level of Psion Godhood, similar to the God Thoughts and through potential affiliation, Nezarec.
When I first did the Encore mission, I thought the Subjugator and the tormentor were brothers in arms. I was too busy surviving to notice Yrix and honest though they pledged to each other. On a side note, what exactly is the Dread’s rank within the forces? Do they think themselves better than the other species since they were crafted by the Witness or do they willingly bend the knee for they see themselves as a young species amongst the old.
If they're anything like the shadow legion, or taken for that matter, they probably aren't thinking much at all. The witness seemed to really enjoy creating empty shells to direct like puppets, and I'd imagine a whole species fresh from the brain (brains...? hmm) would be some of the most empty and capable of all. To answer the question though, I think it would just depend on who gets to them first- I'd imagine once someone lays claim to them, their loyalty would shape their perceptions of any other power or faction
what if the “eldritch force” we come across in the heresy episode is nezarec? or what if he comes back at the end of either revenant or heresy and we deal with him next year. just a though
Yirix taking over the Shadow Legion makes some sense since she never showed up in the campaign. She probably was the one giving orders after Calus died. I'm curious if she is still a normal Psion or a Dread herself now. It would explain why she could take a leadership position among them. Still I'm hoping in the end we either see a revival of Nezarec or another Disciple take control of the Dread. Still have no idea how many there are/were. Nez, Calus, and Rhulk were just the big three. I had no idea Otzot was still alive. Hope we meet her down the road.

The Original Psion Relig1on was very likely created by Nezarec himself. A Certain Psionic Message in Vox Obscura heavily implies this: “This message Shows…some sort of Psion Ritual. No. A Relig1ous Ceremony. It’s in the far past. So distant. Before their assimilation into the Cabal. The feeling is difficult to describe, but I know it well, something like “Militant Nostalgia” The ritual leader - an Elder - *is speaking about how the spark of divinity exists within all of us.* How we are unified beyond death. *An Eternal Chorus* It’s…peaceful. And utter nonsense! *Those beliefs were brutally subjugated by the Psions themselves long before we conquered them.* *Yirix clearly wishes to stir a forgotten sense of Psionic Unity, under the Banner of Calus and the Black Fleet.”* And in the Root of Nightmares Raid, we find the Shadow Legion working for Nezarec. Why? It’s because Nezarec was the creator of this Original Relig1on. The Psions realized that they were granting Psionic powers to a monster, so they v1olently stamped it out. Yirix is very clearly trying to encourage empowering Nezarec once again. He’s like their secret Superweapon. The Spark of Divinity within all beings? If we see more of the Psion Rebels in future Episodes, I'm calling it that they're gonna be massively relevant to a future content drop. Which I feel like would be taking Torobatl from the Hive or something to do with Nezarec. (If we ever get a new expansion.) We've seen this in the past, Osiris as Savathun in all the Beyond Light Seasons, Nezarec in Haunted and Plunder, the prelude to the final fight with the Witness in all of Lightfall's seasons.

Otzot may not be directly controlling the Shadows but Yirix is enough. Otzot is very clearly the mastermind behind this group, what her ends may be we still do not fully know, but it’s clear she has plans involving the OXA. The Reds may have just been cloning Kargan this whole time for the Strike, and Otzot used his clone as a tool for her own ends. However I doubt Otzot’s interests align with Caiatl, otherwise why is she using the Shadow Legion and not just allying with the Empress? It’s clear Otzot is likely an opportunist, she has some unknown goal related to her species and has this Psion group as her followers, some involved in different Cabal groups. She’s an opportunist as she aligned with the conspirators and now she’s against Caiatl, odd considering The Empress freed the Psions, so Otzot’s goals are more than just that.

@makscepura3572 I would assume on Pyramid ships since the witness is always moving they'd most likely need to keep all their tools with them on their fleet. I dont think anything confirms it, but it's an easy and safe assumption
That leaves one final thing about the witness, "why did IT took IO and Mercury" we know mars was taken to gain knowledge. Titan to prevent us from communitating with ahsa. But why them bungie didn t answer that, what value they had for witness (IO was taken becouse of the tree of silver wings thats my suspicions).
Me, I'll lead my silly plastic chads
