      People confess to detectives inside an interrogation room because they play on their weaknesses. In this case we have a guy who wasn’t dealing with a full deck to start, was elderly, was lonely enough that he’s one of those older people that goes to the local fast food places and sits there and talks to people, and clearly wasn’t a hardened career criminal. This should be like taking candy from a baby and sure enough it was. They did it exactly right- send a woman who’s younger but not suspiciously young. She said she had two adult children and a mother who was nearing the end of her life: perfect. They really followed all the recommendations for getting this exact person to talk.

    I disagree on the first case. An accident like this could absolutely cause someone to panick and drift around for a day, not knowing what to do. I think it is normal that many people would somehow try to find a way out, struggling with the reality of them probably going to prison etc.

      Shock effects everyone differently. I wish these types of channels would understand that. Struggling with the reality of what they just did is very common especially in accidental incidences. Drifting around or even hanging around the crime scene is something I've seen the perpetrator do in plenty of these videos to figure out it's common enough it shouldn't be seen as unusual.

    • @christianjamesen4411

      I've definitely seen people panic like that for accidents much less severe

    • @K000H
      @K000H 3 місяці тому +81

      Yes! And it's not just to try and get out of the situation, but to be in such a shock where you know you just killed someone on accident and your mind can't settle on the fact immediately. I know i'd turn myself in as well, but i can't say i'd call an emergency number or let anyone know right away even if i fully am aware and know i will turn myself in. You should ofc always call for medical help just in case it can become one of those miracle cases where the victim survives even though they got shot in the head, or in the chest like in this case. I don't condone not calling for help, but i can understand it from being in a state of disbelief.
      I can definitely see people walking around for a day trying to settle their thoughts thats racing, going "omg, did that just happen? No. This can't be real. They're dead. They're actually dead. They're gone. What did i do?" over and over until the adrenalin calms down.
      It's really sad and nauseating to think about being in such a situation.

    • @flampagan1994
      @flampagan1994 3 місяці тому +139

      Agreed. He had been drifting for hours the shock can last for days or weeks, so it explains why he waited to call and why he might not be emotional.
      As for why he turned himself in? because it was the right thing to do.
      The narrator is nothing more than a armchair psychologist.

The forensic evidence would show if his story matched up with the evidence. For example, if he said he was close to her showing her the gun when it went off the forensic evidence would show gunpowder on her. The never had a history of violence but something about being taking off the medication by her parents did something to her mental state and she snapped.
    I can’t speak from experience but a friend of mine was on the same meds and stopped taking it suddenly thinking it would be like Zoloft with no real side effects and she did say she had extreme thoughts of hurting her self or others like 2 weeks after quitting. Of course being a rational adult she didn’t and immediately went to the doctor to get proper help. And was safely weened off the medication and now has no weird effects.

      @@Ashley_Mo yeah she explained it was difficult cause at first she didn’t think anything was wrong with her and it was just everyone else. But once she started to notice she was actually considering hurting her kids she knew immediately something was off cause even when she was unmedicated and just raw dogging her mental health she NEVER EVER had thoughts like that. She would be frustrated sure. But never to the point of hurting someone and she’s ones of those gentle parenting people. She had a cousin who pulled her aside who had experience with the medication and told her she suspected she was having a manic episode. That’s when it clicked for her and made a doctors appointment the same day and her husband stayed home and helped with the kids until then. Since she’s been off (properly of course) she’s been back to normal. I imagine it’s incredibly scary to go through

    the undercover cop having the cover story of divorced and two "grown" kids out of the home and her own bedridden mother at home who she is openly annoyed about having to take care of, was a stroke of genius. It conveyed two incredibly valuable pieces of information to the perp. It signaled that she was single and in need of a friend (perhaps more), and it also established a foundational bond between them. Here was a man who had just liberated himself from the burdens of caring for his infirmed mother and now found a friend in a woman looking to unburden herself from her infirmed mother.
    I can guarantee you that he firmly believed that his new friendship was kismet; a sort of 'sign from god'
    at a certain point in time, he could no longer hold back the urge to not brag about his triumph and act upon his intuition
    had it not been an undercover cop; instead a normal women saying all the same things, but honestly, he might well have been right in thinking their encounter was fate
    tl;dr if you're guilty of a crime, don't admit it; much less in a burger king; even less to a person you barely know.

    The first man did not “accidentally” confess. I understand that a lot of UA-cam channels will exaggerate and/or make up untrue claims in the titles of their videos in order to make it seem more interesting, but a true crime channel really shouldn’t be lying in their video titles like this. There’s zero reason for being misleading since so many of us enjoy this content and would’ve watched it either way.

    18:45 I saw this one, and read more about it. It is absolutely heartbreaking.
    When her mom comes out and says, "You *KILLED* him." I felt a bit of a kinship with this child. It scares me that I could have become here.
    At about 10 or 11 years old I started having issues with my mental health. Along with that I developed some friending anger issues.
    I was very luckily that I was able to get some actual help (even more lucky this was the 1980's) that actually worked.
    I worked very hard to learn to control my Rage. I call it my Rage (with a capital R) because I think of it as a monster inside of me that wants to take control. I keep my Rage locked in a cage and I have to be an guard 24/7 to make sure it stays locked up.
    It's one of the reasons I don't drink, because me drunk is like unlocking the cage. If my Rage gets out, I can't control what it might do, so I have to make sure in never gets out.
    Have you ever made a mistake or done something stupid that could have gotten yourself or others killed, but by pure dumb luck it didn't. Like something that makes you tense up the muscles holding your butthole closed? That's how I feel watching this.
