I live in Pennsylvania and am thinking about a 3500 Duramax brand new would you delete it if it was you I don't know anything about a diesel never owned one
I'm in ky . I have a 2018 3500 Cummins. I want to fully delete everything. Def is costing a fortune. What should I buy and where?? I subscribed your channel
Thanks for this! I feel like I can communicate w my bf a little better instead of just standing there nodding while everything he says goes flying over my head!😂
I'm building an lly. Not for big power. But reliability. Being a truck driver. That egr valve was the first thing to go. Emissions crap has left me stranded more times then I can count.... This will be my first diesel pickup though. Fingers crossed Also. Then engine was plugged nearly solid with soot. 500k km's on the odometer. Here's to a million more
@@Yippa391 That's why I still love my 2004 6.0 Powerstroke. Bought it back in 2010 and EGR Deleted it and head studded it and it's been an absolute gem of a truck!!
I recently did mine. EGR, pipes, throttle and re-program. I am amazed how much better this rig runs now. Now I'm freaked out about the grid heater, so I plan to yank that out as well and install a GMC type heater in the intake horn. I do a lot of rural of highway driving, no city. I average 21.5 MPG if I baby her. I did it because the EGR was failing, soot was filling up my engine oil, temps were also running high. The delete fixed everything.
You just told the EPA you committed a crime. One day the EPA, using AI will go after everyone who deleted their truck. The irony about this is that fuel use is greatly reduced by the delete.
I followed your video as best I could and deleted my 2014 Cummins this week. Waited for the warranty to expire. Installed EFI Live tunes, S&B Cold Air Intake, deleted CCV, DEF and EGR. Thanks for the video! Extremely helpful!
I commend you for making a video on the subject as enforcement of emissions equipment on diesels is being ramped up.I am a diesel mechanic I work on mostly heavy trucks Macks international freight liner,I owned 4 diesel pick ups myself,Once the DPF came out I stopped buying diesel trucks. Some of your information is a little bit incorrect and I would like to make you aware of it. You stated that DEF fluid was brought out because people were complaining about poor fuel mileage.DEF fluid came out because there was no other way to reduce NOX emissions enough to meet tier 4 final Emissions levels without it. International Did not use def fluid until 2015 they use a very high percentage of EGR from 2011 to 2014 to supposedly meet tier 4. final emissions.Their trucks did not meet emissions standards ,eventually international was fined a tremendous amount of money, I believe that the only reason they let the company stay in business is because they were such a high percentage of their trucks that are school buses and municipal trucks and if the company was put out of business it would have a huge effect on the entire trucking industry. Not only did they not make the emissions without it the EGR coolers failed an alarming rate because you’re running a very high percentage of egr was causing egr coolers to crack sometimes every 8-10,000 miles, and it was causing engine oil to be contaminated very quickly. By using Def fluid, The auto makers were able to drastically cut the amount of EGR needed this helps keep the engine oil cleaner , and reduce the pressure on the EGR cooler and cooling system of the engine. The other mistake you stated was that DEF is injected while the truck is in regen or burning off, That is true but DEF is also injected anytime the engine is up to temperature it’s injected slowly insteadily. The systems are getting better they are now installed on new trucks as a module containing the DIesel oxidizing Catalyst,The DPF and the DEF injector nozzle. One area where big trucks and light pick ups differ is the way they inject the diesel fuel large trucks use what’s called a doser behind the turbo charger,I think the Duramax uses this as well I know that early Fords used extra fuel in cylinders seven and eight, That just washed down those cylinders and ate the rings. The doser injector is a way better system. In United States while it may be legal locally in certain areas do not have an emissions inspection it is still illegal in all 50 states to remove any emissions control device from any vehicle for on road purposes. Here in New York commercial truck inspectors know what to look for if you have a 2008 and newer truck and you’re right rear fender has soot on it,And you’re driving in Rockland County or further south where they have DEMA ,which is “diesel emissions metropolitan area” regulations, you may get pulled over and inspected. I personally can’t stand the DEF systems, They have caused our large plow trucks to go down like you said for weeks at a time, our trucks are kind of important m since they’re plowing town roads are they useless sitting on the side of the road idling with a triangle on the dash board. .I have to go out with a scanner and do a forced regen ,Which can take up to 45 minutes in order to just be able to drive the truck back to the shop. Unfortunately this happens with brand new trucks like you said the cold weather and the roads are are not friendly with DEF heaters or lines.
Very good write up. I used to live in Rockland County as well. Right on RT 306 in Westley hills. Although that was many years ago no one bothered us for much of anything other than fireworks on the 4th lol.
My son lives in Maine where they have to get an inspection yearly. They’re really strict and almost every year they find something minor he has to fix and he’s pretty good about his maintenance. So there’s no way you could have a deleted pickup there.
I have deleted my emissions on my 6.4 diesel f450...now it's the most beautiful truck reaching speed limit quickest no more engine sweetening because it's high temperature,no more regenerate with a lot black smoke, no more esues so aften and more saving fuel..now I'm very happy...
DEF has nothing to do with cleaning the DPF. DEF reacts with the exhaust to reduce NOX. DPF regen is what burns off the soot converting it down to ash. 😉
I have an 2011 f350 6.7 non-delete with nearly 400,000 miles on it and no issues other than a starter, oil pressure sensor, small radiator leak from a round rubber gasket that broke.. truck runs great with tons of power and torque and wants to keep going..
@@mddunlap03 good news is there are multiple low soot producing tunes. I could probably get away with driving through Main Street (any California City) and not get questioned.
@@krisone63, I call bull shit! They will pull you over here also. Yes it depends on where you are because some areas are strict while others are not. I’ve been driving diesels > 40 years. If everyone ran a light smoke tune we would not be in the position we find ourselves in. (EPA handing out business closing fine amounts).
Funfact: the EPA cannot prevent you from doing this because of recent Supreme Court rulings, it’s gonna be a bit before we start seeing anything though
I understand that by deleting voids warranty but aren't most of the problems you're going to have that you would use warranty for have to do with the whole emissions system?
That the stealerships won't cover cause they know they're junk, and make the consumer pay out of pocket for and have the $100k truck down for weeks like he said in the video. I have a 2015 lml and I deleted it and it gets way better fuel mileage than it did without the tune... So I'm a little confused as to him saying it doesn't get much better. Only think I could think of is, if you're on the go button more often than not them ya, going to not get the best fuel mileage, but if you chill with the go button it gets way better, especially if you drive in the top tune all the time. 🤷♂️EPA & GOVERNMENT messing everything up as always. Let mechanics handle mechanics stuff and let cooks handle food stuff and don't let the FDA handle food and drug and don't let government in our lives other than for war from other countries other than that, they are not needed.
Just finished a full delete on my LML. Used your videos and info a ton. Then had to replace my turbo 3 weeks later due to leaking seals putting oil into the exhaust. I was able to do it myself with Dark Iron Diesel videos! You’re the man. Buying some merch for sure.
Gotta correct a couple things on the oe emissions side. The dpf is for particulate matter(soot). The regen process raises the temp in the dpf to burn off that soot. On Ram trucks, this is done if too much differential pressure is sensed across the dpf and on an engine hours basis. On my def equipped trucks, this was about every 24 engine hours. On my pre-def Rams it was less than every 10 engine hours. DEF is injected into the catalyst after the dpf & is not used for cleaning the soot or in the regen process in any way. It reacts with the catalyst to remove NoX emissions. This allows for less egr to be used on def equipped trucks. Less egr = less soot= less regen’s.
Best part of my deleted lml no more filling the damn def tank! Also I’m getting 4mpgs better, and I will agree removing the egr from the duramax sucks! But whole process took 7hours of cussing 90% on the egr for sure!
Another tip I would give along with the three you mentioned is upgrading the cold air intake. Thank you for your contribution. It’s stuff like this that really helps people understand! 👍🏻
I've been working in a dealership for the last ten years, as a jockey, and it's the first time I hear the term ''stealership' . now that's hot, I know they'll screw you over, I witnessed it, but the term stealership is new to me. From now on I'll be using it whenever I can. HAHAHA thanks for posting.
My 08 LMM is fully deleted, EFI Live tuned with a DSP5 switch, AirDog 4G 165gph lift pump, stainless steel fuel lines, factory fuel filter housing fully deleted, full HSP turbo and intake piping kit, 4 inch straight pipe exhaust with 8 inch tip, fuel rail pressure relief valve delete plug, ported fuel rail fittings, and cleaned up the engine wiring harness and tucked it out of the way to hide it. It's my daily driver, tow rig, and race truck. It'll out run a 5.0 GT Mustang, gets 24mpg, doesn't smoke much either. Has a deep rumble exhaust sound with a loud turbo whistle.
My '14 Cummins went from 8-10 mpg to 15-17 mpg in town after deleting DPF and EGR. You should mention that part of the 'recycling/regurgitation' process the EPA bs on these trucks sends massive amounts of soot into your turbo! I saved mine right in the nick of time! I tried to free spin the fan and it was stopping instantly. It was f... caked in soot... I cleaned it some brake cleaner and it now sounds like a jet even with my rumble!
Good question, can this be answered also thinking of buying a 2022 but I don't want to wait until warranty is over at 160k when the damage would be done instead of just doing it as soon as I take it out of dealer. Fuck the warranty the cummins is the warranty!
I came across your video looking up pros and cons of egr deletes on gas cars. I hit like because your video was well-informed and you passed that on. Also, I’m Canadian, and I like Canadian content. I had a diesel but sold it after too many check engine lights all emissions related; nothing to do with drivability. All were going to cost thousands so I unloaded it. If I did buy a diesel truck or car again I’d look for pre 2008 or whenever DPFs or DEF came out, no matter the miles. I’m in favour of clean air but I confess to liking the smell of unprocessed diesel exhaust since it reminds me of trains.
love canadians, love clean air as well, practically every different diesel from my childhood smelled different.THE TECH WILL IMPROVE FOR THE COMBUSTION OF HEAVY FUELS( look what they have done for the gassers) no one likes to breathe soot( although it tends to settle out rather quickly) the high combustion temps of the diesels were noted early on( that's when they were said to burn air(nox) and that's the reason for the urea reactors,as the tech improves diesels will be around forever because they are simply the best for certain apps, courage pilgrims don't fall into that $10.000 fine trap.Oh yes they have real torquey gassers now,but they will never give diesel economy, when diesel fuel falls back to the price it should be long live the heavy fuelers!
I can’t believe you’re a smaller channel, your videos are so god damn good, amazing quality, very informative, professional, must say I’m impressed. Bonus points for a fellow Canadian
Deleted my truck. Went from 11 ish MPG TO 17 MPG. It’s 100% true. Especially with a CAI. It would probably be even better with a full intake system change.
So now your truck runs more efficient and burns less fuel? That just shows how useless and stupid these emission systems are! Im sure it could do 20mpg with a better intake system and more boost pressure.
12 Ford 6.7 here. Deleted, it gets 20-30mpg depending on speed. My Truck wieghs 9660lbs and I drive 55mph to and from work 140 miles round trip. I get 26-27mpg. At 50mph,I can squeeze out 30mpg. Driving 70-75mph I'm at 18.5 to 20mpg. The truck never got that mileage in stock form. Now let's talk savings by not buying def. Deleting saves tons of money on fuel and def.
@@hgffrank exactly. I live in the city so I don’t get that luxury of gas mileage, but when I get the chance to cruise at 55mph and seeing my fuel efficiency sitting at 30mpg is a beautiful thing!
That’s exactly what happened to me. I was working out of town in northern Minnesota this winter. Truck threw a code for egr valve. I had to drive it at 55 max speed for a month until I was off work and it warmed up to be able to work on it. Needless to say I’m gonna off road it all the way back to western Pennsylvania!
My only problem with the modern Diesel emissions is the EGR. If there was another way to burn off unburned diesel without redirecting it back through the engine I would be all for it. My first experience with diesel engines was with my grandfather's 89 Dodge ram. He still has it to this day and it still runs great. I remember driving it about 15 years ago and the odometer rolled over. I bought my first diesel 3 years ago and I'm disgusted it to find out that it may not even make it to 100,000 MI.
I watched a video somewhere that was talking about this very subject. The guy said something that stuck with me and is ao very true...."Nothing on this planet is designed to eat its own crap".....
Love your third gen Cummins mate! And if I were to buy a 10 year old plus HD diesel truck I wouldn’t be worried about warranty and emissions. I always make sure I have a backup vehicle or a vehicle for specific tasks. As much as I love the new Ram 2500+ Cummins I can’t justify $90k even for a daily driver. The older trucks are way more fun esp if it’s a manual!
@@darkirondiesel you know what’s funny though I just got last year a 2020 ram 1500 hemi with 3.92s non etorque 4x4 and it’s gorgeous and comfortable etc. but when I go to pick which truck I wana drive I still grab the keys to my 2006 ram 1500 6speed manual with 4.10s and 4” lift and basic interior😎
@@darkirondiesel Please do not thank me for you stating that you will pass along what you know. You made it clear for each person to do their own research. I simply like the raw, camera moving while you walk and talk and kept it real. You didn't once lie or become biased. Just, keep doing this and all is good. No matter what you know or say somebody will try and out do you or prove you wrong. These people suffer from tiny sword disorder. Probably don't even own diesels
Drive an ‘03 6.0. I’ve had it since ‘08. I will continue to do maintenance early, to my “upgraded” EGR, studded motor. New trucks look so nice, and I could go buy one with cash, but I’ll stick with my old truck. Runs great, still sounds and smells like a diesel should. Sad where diesel trucks have gone smfh. Good, somewhat accurate video dude. Funny you had to explain what “deleting” is. And yes, you should do it, if you want a diesel that will last and not break down all the time. Or, you can go spend $80k on your new loaded truck, that runs like shit after a few months of spending tons of money on shit fuel, shit DEF, and additives for oil and fuel. Cheers to the EPA (in the US).
I have a stock 2007 6.0. 90,000 miles. With a turbo back exhaust system. Not sure what that means. It’s feeling gutless these days. What should I do or delete, do you recommend?
Had a '21 duramax denali that left us stranded on a family road trip bc. of emission system, 1 year old truck. 1 year later, it had to have its particulate filter replaced under warranty. Traded in for a '23 gas denali... no more problems! And it's fast.
Def fluid doesn't burn, and is injected pretty much all the time, when it heats up in the exhaust in neutralizes/reduces the amount of NOX In the exhaust. The regen cycle is what burns the filter clean by increasing idle speed and dumping extra fuel into the exhaust. Def has not one single thing to do with burning the filter clean or increasing mpg
I deleted my 14 Cummins for the reason of cost to maintain the system. My oil after running 7k miles was like tar. Every time I cleaned the egr system it was full of soot. After deleting my truck on 60hp tune ran like the day it came of the show room floor. Haven't seen anyone tell you the cost to maintain the egr system. My dealer quoted 1,500 by the time it was done. I'll keep my delete my truck seems much happier.
I don't know for sure, but I'd guess my pre delete emissions were worse than my post delete emissions. I get ridiculously better fuel economy and no matter how much throttle I give, it won't blow black smoke. So to me it seems better than factory for both performance and emissions
I know this is not a buy and sell site,I have a cherry95 GMC LONG BED FOR SALE 2100$ nobody around here seems to want this thing great apolcylpse truck, you have a fantastic site and very good advice
I will tell you this every 5000 miles the Converters would plug up, so it was replace under Warranty then when went out of warranty at 36,000 miles and the dealership wanted $7000. To replace them again soon told them well I will take care of that problem. Now my oil is absolutely Clean for every Oil Change. The Truck runs perfect now. I had 5” installed now at 180,000 miles it gets 24 Miles per Gallon. Plenty of power, Less Oil changes because its black. My truck is bad ass.
He's 100% right on deleting it I will speak from experience if you delete the EGR cap it off because the a little electrical motor that opens and closes the gears can become brittle and break and your EGR valve can get stuck half open or all the way open or you'll get lucky and be closed just cap it off and tune it I know this because I put a barometric pressure sensor that told the EGR to stay closed and it got stuck half open and I dissected the EGR and found that the gears were all stripped out where the motor was for opening and closing the valve no BS and this was on a semi truck same s*** is on all the pickup trucks except for my 7.3 😎
Deleted my 2015 duramax because it was cheaper to do the replace the faulty egr ... didn't get any gains in milage .. but gains knowing I don't have to deal with Emmons failures in the future. Lol
Def is added to the exhaust to work in conjunction with the egr and the cat to reduce NOx emissions through selective catalytic reduction, thats why the def system is sometimes called the scr system. its not for cleaning the particulate filter, the truck either cleans that through passive regeneration (naturally high egt to burn the soot out) or active regeneration (artificially high egt from extra fuel being added to the exhaust stroke) if theres too much soot load on the filter and not enough passive regen. but yah def fluid isnt for the filter and the reason it helps with performance like fuel mileage is because the engine can use less egr to reduce nox emissions which hinders power and efficiency and instead pump def into the exhaust to catalyze the nox.
Damn!! Great vid! I wish I had watched this BEFORE I bought my 2013 F350. My MPG is a dismal 15-16! I drive professionally so I'm not mashing down on the acceleration. Maybe time to trade in for a pre-def one.....
DEF does not burn, it is intended to act as a catalyst to allow the Catalytic to do its job, the Particulate filter relies on high temps generated by inject diesel directly into the exhaust to regenerate
Interesting thing about nox emissions. SpaceX emits twice the yearly nox emissions of the entire worldwide light duty diesel fleet with the rockets they launch every year.
Hey video thanks for posting this and sharing. This world is true still pretty quiet no one really wants to give any information out about this. Deafly will be deleting my truck once I hit hundred thousand miles on this motor. The EGR system is such garbage and the fact that the DEF system is too.
Best pro's/cons vid on this subject I've seen. Would love to "delete" my truck, but the two big cons will prevent me from doing so. By the way, why do they call it "delete your truck," rather than "delete your DPF system?"
Unfortunately, you have to do it all, or nothing. There are so many sensors involved, just doing the tune, or removing the emissions items individually would cause other issues. Removing/upgrading the physical "parts", allows the engine to breathe/operate normally... Re-tuning the computer tell it "everything's fine, nothing to see here."
Great video man! Definitely good information about how to full delete your diesel truck. I owed 05, Ford F350 6.0, I completely bulletproof my truck and done lots of upgrades, but I need little more throttle response. Do you have suggestions?
Another reason not to delete is the smell and smoke sucks for me. But beyond that, it’s highly carcinogenic. When you get those particles into your lung it stays I’m telling you you’re gonna have to learn what chemo is if you’re not careful. If you have a modern diesel like he says the mission system is way more refined. You get the low pressure EGR and you get the after DPFEGR systems which are already filtered out before they enter the engine so you don’t get anywhere near the suit that you normally would, now the older ones I understand they can be a headache. The best thing to do is to change your oil frequently regardless of new or old and send in your oil for lab testing to see what’s going on with it. You have to run the best oil you can and your research on that. After my warranty, I’m going to be running redline diesel oil. I love my modern eco-diesel GEN three with all the emissions systems intact. I even picked up 57 hp with the Derringer and 73 foot pounds of torque from banks. I’m keeping an eye on everything, so I’m good with the emission system.
It does because it means the engine can run less EGR and more advanced timing to meet NOx regulations, and with less EGR it makes less soot so it regens less.
My DEF system freezes up (Canada)…dealership says internal heater is ineffective during a deep freeze. They also said an external heating pad may melt the reservoir.
This help a late,I don't think I will ever delete I got a 2016 ram 3500 dully, an I pull campers for aliving, all over the world, an I've got 465938 miles on my Ram an still get 9 to 10 gallons a mile,an thats pulling a 37 ft ,up in mountains wy,an AZ,MT.an I get 15.6 to 18 mile a gallon not pulling so ill keep mine as is.ty for sharing
Def fluid has nothing to due regens, or soot. Def only changes the chemical make up of your exhaust by converting harmful exhaust gasses into harmless gasses. Again DEF fluid has absolutely nothing to do with soot reductions.
I agree with Jumper here, the DEF fluid consists of Urea and water. The nozzle sprays the def fluid into the exhaust to kill off the nitrous oxide gases from the exhaust (NO2). The regen starts when the engine ECU send more diesel towards the DPF and starts the burn off that way.
I have no emissions up here in north Idaho. Doing research Before I buy my 1st diesel. My 3/4 ton gasser is cat delete and 02 sensor bank 2. Tricked that cat works..she is getting old and struggling to turn 35s in 4x4vor pulling dump trailers on grade.so if you wanted a good affordable diesel.and do your own wrenching what would you look for? No ford's! Thanks
I bought a low mileage 6.4 (50k) that had leaking coolers already and had I not taken all the shit off (egr, cat and DPF) I would be having terminal engine issue's
My 2016 CTD had emissions failure at 24,000 miles. Called the dealer, 10 week wait. Got them to sign a form that they would not void my warranty if I deleted. They signed it. Overnighted a delete kit. Installed. Went from 13MPG to 19MPG and it sounded mean as hell. Had Cory Willis from PPEI tune it. With the 220hp tune she screamed. If I buy another it’s getting deleted.
$1000 delete or $4000 in power upgrades which will decrease the life of your 7.3? I vote 6.7 with a delete. Ya know, you can get a gasser 7.3 with more horsepower and towing capacity than your old 7.3 diesel 😉
No matter how you look at it the DPF systems are here to stay and the penalty is steep if you remove it. If you want a diesel pickup you just have to deal with it. A friend runs a stealth tuner that’s designed to work with DPF emissions system. If I buy a new one down the road I’ll just run the stealth tuner with DPF system. Power and mileage increase can be pretty substantial after deleting.
Ya like I say in the video, you can still tune a truck with emissions and gain fuel mileage and power while leaving the dpf intact. It’s definitely the way of the future.
I'm new to modern diesels. I have a Cummins and it's the first vehicle I've had with all the EPA attachments. I'm slowly learning about all of this stuff. I just want to make sure I'm understanding this. If I have my truck tuned will it shut off the EGR and stop putting dirty exhaust back into my engine? Or would I have to also remove the EGR and entire DEF system? My truck is under warranty and I would like to keep the warranty if possible. My thoughts are if I can tune the EGR and stop the recirculation of gases then that might add life to my motor but I'll deal with the DEF system until my warranty is up. Any info is appreciated
The US even blacklisted the VW car engines after 2006 when Europe continued to use them. Remember the diesel rabbits that could get 60 mpg and last 300K? My 2009 Jetta was recalled d/t the defeat software lawsuit - great car, but the lobbyists ended it. How much pollution are we talking from a 1.9L engine getting over 50mpg??
2015 RAM DIESEL 4 door 6speed, 6Ft Bed 4x4. Deleted at 87k went from 22mpgs to 29-34+ MPG Naked truck 7800lbs. Now at 10,200 lbs as CERT rigged, down to 24-29mpgs. Avoid "smog inspection" counties! California example and URBAN LIBERAL areas.
So if I don't delete a 2017 Turbo/Diesel with DEF - I'm curious if there are additives, or any suggestions on what I can do to lower the buildup of suite that you mentioned? Or anything else, over and above the Oil/Fuel Filter changes...
Sorry, like losing weight, there's no "magic pill" to make it better without doing the work. If they did to a human being, what they've done to diesel trucks, it would be the equivalent of a runner doing a marathon, wearing a backpack, while breathing in air mixed with his own farts/carbon dioxide through a filtered face mask. (with a plug up his butt).
@Davncin Gilbert - Welp, that's a good visual, lol. I can't say I disagree...Was just curious of there was anything that might take a pound out of the backpack, or at least the plug out 😁...It is a friggin shame though, what they've done to these engines, no doubt.
I'm a firm believer if i own the truck I should be able to do whatever I want with what I own. I do understand that the manufacturer has to do right by the EPA but as the consumer it should be up to the end user what they do and don't do with what they own and pay for.
I was very impressed 👏 video thank for the video I have a 6.4 power stroke 2008 I want to delete egr I look for good kit delete I'm new in diesel trucks So I thanks full for this information
Never did a delete, but the 2005 F550 I drove got the same 8mpg as the 2015 F550 I drive now. They're both about the same curb weight (13,000 lbs). The only difference is now I don't smell like diesel exhaust after a 10 hour day.
As far as cons, the extra heat on turbos and seals from what I was told. Not sure how true that is. I have a 18 F150 diesel want to delete but was worried about burning up turbo or seals
Pre def trucks inject fuel on the exhaust stroke to burn out the soot on the dpf filter. Causing 1600+ degree heat to run through the exhaust and the turbo as well as causing poor milage. That’s what the big issue with 6.4s failing turbos. Also why deleting increased milage because no more burning fuel to clean the dpf
@7:51 That is why I bought a 1997 7.3 without ALL of the Emisions BS. $30.000 for a 1997 that looks like it just came off of a New Car lot. It has VERY low, low miles. I will spend some $$$ on a Upgrades (Bigger Turbo, EFuel, Intercooler, Etc.) and have a Nicer Looking truck that cost $60,000 less then a New Truck and last Way LONGER. A buddy of mine has a Lifted, Customized 2020 F-350, he parked next to my 1997 F-350 and I managed to get 4 Comments on how nice my truck while he stood there holding the $97,000 bill for his. Anyone who runs out and buys a New Diesel truck is a Moron! BTW, Just so you don't read into my comment to much, I could go out right now and pay CASH for a new truck but I just refuse to. Remember, New is not Better. In Fact a 7.3 will run 1,000,000 miles, I would love to see a new truck last that long.
Well, hate to ruin your post but you can UA-cam the 2012 6.7 liter F250 that’s running around with 1.3 million on it. It’s called maintaining the rig. Granted, I would run from the 6.0 and 6.4 L navs. Buy a 2012 to 2016 6.7, delete it, and drive it as long as you want as long as you take care of it. The 17s on up haven’t been out long enough but I’m sure the same bodes well for them too. I thought after the 6.4 L, that ford would drop a Cummins in their HD. Would have been awesome to see, but they’d sale less pickups as customers would hold on to them much longer! Diesel should be sipped!
I do delete all the time both software and hands on I've had many customers absolutely love it One customer had a F-250 6.7 what's a fuel tank that drains into the original fuel tank he picked up 5 mi per gallon
Liberal alert ☝️. If diesels are so bad and global warming is such a serious problem and oceans are rising. then why do all the top democrats own beach front houses. Seems like a bad investment
Jim Matteo diesels are more efficient than gasoline engines. Every engine should be a Diesel engine. If you have the correct air/fuel ratio they don’t pollute that much. My older 2007 diesel truck makes absolutely no black smoke. Not even under load or hard acceleration. NOX isn’t a problem unless you wrap your mouth around the tailpipe with the truck running. I’m a regional supplier for GM dealers and each dealer on average orders at least one DPF system each week. That tells me all I need to know about how unreliable it is. If the truck isn’t under warranty open up the wallet when the part numbers fly.

I recently did mine. EGR, pipes, throttle and re-program. I am amazed how much better this rig runs now. Glad I could help!
How did your MPGs change on the Cummins? Any difference?
Hey man, could you tell me where you purchased your efi live tuner with tunes?
Stopped making cat motors as well due to them not being able to pass emissions. Nice write up
Very good write up.
@@sokodad Maine is fine, just find an independent shop for inspection.

Thanks buddy! Hopefully the online store works, if you try to order something and run into problems let me know!
Say it louder for all the boomers out there
Best part of my deleted lml no more filling the damn def tank!

I had a diesel but sold it after too many check engine lights all emissions related; nothing to do with drivability. All were going to cost thousands so I unloaded it.

An actually accurate comment for a change on a diesel video!
Damn!!
My buddy was able to get a pretty good mileage increase after deleting and his oil stopped getting black immediately after a oil change

Hey video thanks for posting this and sharing. This world is true still pretty quiet no one really wants to give any information out about this. Deafly will be deleting my truck once I hit hundred thousand miles on this motor. The EGR system is such garbage and the fact that the DEF system is too.
Thank you for making this video. It helps us to be in the know...
Best pro's/cons vid on this subject I've seen. Would love to "delete" my truck, but the two big cons will prevent me from doing so. By the way, why do they call it "delete your truck," rather than "delete your DPF system?"
In Rim Country we call it "putting the truck on a diet."
Hypothetically, if you somehow permanently closed the valve without a tune, then changed your exhaust would it work?
Unfortunately, you have to do it all, or nothing. There are so many sensors involved, just doing the tune, or removing the emissions items individually would cause other issues. Removing/upgrading the physical "parts", allows the engine to breathe/operate normally... Re-tuning the computer tell it "everything's fine, nothing to see here."
What are a few of the recommended delete and tune kits? I want to make sure choosing a trusted supplier and one that is of the best made. Ty.
Great video man!
Definitely good information about how to full delete your diesel truck.
I owed 05, Ford F350 6.0, I completely bulletproof my truck and done lots of upgrades, but I need little more throttle response.
Do you have suggestions?
Pedal Commander.
DEF reduces nitrous oxide emissions in the scr. It doesn't increase fuel mileage.
And it’s mainly water and ammonia. It doesn’t burn and has nothing to do with exhaust regeneration.
@@outbacker292 Def is nothing more than regular piss ,urea its called
It does because it means the engine can run less EGR and more advanced timing to meet NOx regulations, and with less EGR it makes less soot so it regens less.
My DEF system freezes up (Canada)…dealership says internal heater is ineffective during a deep freeze. They also said an external heating pad may melt the reservoir.
What’s your thought about having to do it every year due to emissions? Will it harm it in anyway?
Nah just move

Def fluid has nothing to due regens, or soot. Def only changes the chemical make up of your exhaust by converting harmful exhaust gasses into harmless gasses. Again DEF fluid has absolutely nothing to do with soot reductions.
I agree with Jumper here, the DEF fluid consists of Urea and water. The nozzle sprays the def fluid into the exhaust to kill off the nitrous oxide gases from the exhaust (NO2). The regen starts when the engine ECU send more diesel towards the DPF and starts the burn off that way.
Fuel milage increase is great! And it doesn't overheat any more.
This is exactly why I’ll never part with my old diesel truck.

Overnighted a delete kit. Installed. Went from 13MPG to 19MPG and it sounded mean as hell. Had Cory Willis from PPEI tune it. With the 220hp tune she screamed. If I buy another it’s getting deleted.
Don’t need to delete your diesel if you buy a 7.3 🤷🏻♂️
Facts
If you enjoy being passed by a Prius, have at er 😂
But you need to dump 3k plus into it to have any power 😂
True they are slow as fuck. But I wouldn't trade my 7.3L for any gas truck
$1000 delete or $4000 in power upgrades which will decrease the life of your 7.3? I vote 6.7 with a delete. Ya know, you can get a gasser 7.3 with more horsepower and towing capacity than your old 7.3 diesel 😉
Do you have your shop open yet ! Good to see a fellow sask boy making it happen !
Only way to go, great info as usual
No matter how you look at it the DPF systems are here to stay and the penalty is steep if you remove it. If you want a diesel pickup you just have to deal with it. A friend runs a stealth tuner that’s designed to work with DPF emissions system. If I buy a new one down the road I’ll just run the stealth tuner with DPF system. Power and mileage increase can be pretty substantial after deleting.
Ya like I say in the video, you can still tune a truck with emissions and gain fuel mileage and power while leaving the dpf intact. It’s definitely the way of the future.
Deleted my LML with the 30% EFI live. Best money I've ever spent.
30 percent?
@@garvensgarage8903 horsepower and torque increase
How does it pass inspection?
@@seanperdue232 it doesn't have to. That's why there's tuning.
Im starting to believe these emissions on trucks was a big money grab.
Rolling down the turnpike maybe.
I think I'm going to keep my '93 Dodge Cummins forever, just in case.
This is why I bought an 05
Yep. 2007 5.9 here
So if I don't delete a 2017 Turbo/Diesel with DEF - I'm curious if there are additives, or any suggestions on what I can do to lower the buildup of suite that you mentioned?
I 100% agree
I was very impressed 👏 video thank for the video
I have a 6.4 power stroke 2008 I want to delete egr
I look for good kit delete
I'm new in diesel trucks
So I thanks full for this information
I would love to get my 2016 dodge 2500 6.7 but I can’t find a tuner to delete it
"Canada" Motor ops.
I don't wanna drop names, but contact Anarchy diesel. Can't make any guarantees though.
Do it yourself. You can get the tune emailed to you.
Hi. I have a 2003 f250 6.0 2wd. But don't like it cuz is to slow 0 to 60. What would be something that I could do to make it faster?.
Never did a delete, but the 2005 F550 I drove got the same 8mpg as the 2015 F550 I drive now. They're both about the same curb weight (13,000 lbs).
The only difference is now I don't smell like diesel exhaust after a 10 hour day.
More gears = better fuel economy
As far as cons, the extra heat on turbos and seals from what I was told. Not sure how true that is. I have a 18 F150 diesel want to delete but was worried about burning up turbo or seals
I don't care about mpg...i just go vroom vroom
Pre def trucks inject fuel on the exhaust stroke to burn out the soot on the dpf filter. Causing 1600+ degree heat to run through the exhaust and the turbo as well as causing poor milage. That’s what the big issue with 6.4s failing turbos. Also why deleting increased milage because no more burning fuel to clean the dpf
14.3l /100km on my deleted 2012 lml for fuel mileage.
My stock 19 ram can get 10 to 12 per 100kms depending on how i drive not towing
I usually run between 12.5 and 13.5L/100km mixed driving with 2018 f350. Can get just under 12L/100km on highway driving with slightly oversized tires
Diesel is used to burn the soot out of the DPF and DEF is used to reduce NOx.
Need to find 2020 delete tunes. No testing for emissions where I am. Police/bureaucrats don’t know anything about diesels.
And you have no clue how bad diesels trucks pollute the environment...
Low soot tune for the win!
"its not piss" hahah
A friend pisses in his tank all the time.....
Damn bruh! Get to the point!!!! You got a long ass intro!!!
Can you tune your truck and just have the egr system locked closed? But still keeping all your components?
I’m gonna delete my 7.3idi....oh wait
😂😂😂😂. Old school is the best!!
oh the old IDIs... when rolling coal was a factory option haha
