And now, 10 years later, I am _still_ doing UA-cam in part thanks to what I learned and experienced making and releasing that now ancient listicle. So this video is as much a callback to that seminal release as it is a “greatest hits” of the many of the cool things that have featured on the Casperr channel over all these years! Secondly, this video is the bookend for the current era of Casperr. I’m going to spend some time working on multiple videos simultaneously - an intentional effort to craft a “season” of content with a common theme and style between all the videos - so when I eventually return it will be a sort of “soft relaunch” for the channel. Still very recognisably Casperr, but with a shiny new vibe that I am really excited about creating, and I hope that you will enjoy once it’s here! Until then, all I have left to say is thanks everyone for *a decade* of tuning in (Of course if Valve just so happen to launch a brand new free-to-play class-based shooter in the meantime then I may show up before all of that new stuff is ready, but we’ll cross that bridge if we come to it 🙂)

12:15 #63 I didn't realize this was changed. It used to be the Spy's name would be your name. So if you saw a friendly with your name, it was a dead giveaway it was a Spy.
8:52 While true, there is some in-game evidence that pyro is indeed human: the Voodoo-cursed Pyro soul. When equipped, the top portion of Pyro’s mask is removed, along with his skin and flesh, revealing their very human skull. Unless there happens to be a species that shares a skull structure with Humans, Pyro is all but confirmed Human.
In-game stuff is not usually considered canon due to most of it being community-created, and most lore from VALVe is explicitly released through the comics, online and physical media, etc.
The other two reasons are that scout's force-a-nature and soda popper completely waste the second shell if they're reloaded with ammo remaining, and that spy can only mimic his disguise's reload animation if he reloads himself, which can virtually never happen with auto-reload enabled as in most cases you'll reload while undisguised or still in the process of disguising. On spy there used to also be the reason that the revolver reload animation blocked your entire view for a split-second which made the ambassador awful to use with auto-reload, but this animation was eventually changed to a less obstructive one.
@@pushyrummble8625 i did this on the Christmas update last year. It was no where close to that broken crate drop rate time. Honestly it would be 30 of 30 for unusual and that would have been broke as all hell.
10:11 Sadly after 2021 MacOS stopped supporting 32bit software. I was hopeful that the 64bit update would allow us Mac users to play TF2 again but Valve never released the update to Mac users.

1:29 Fun fact, while the TF2 PS3 port is no longer available to play (sadly), the Xbox 360 port still works online and there's a dedicated modding community trying to make the game bigger than it is. Downside, you can't buy TF2 anymore, you have to find physical, but upside, your disc will work on an Xbox Series X. Another fun fact is that TF2 on PS3 gave 6 pills to Demoman.
My favourite TF2 crossover trivia is that there's a dispenser in Sam and Max season 3, and if you interact with it 8 times (the number of times it takes to upgrade when an engineer hits it with a wrench in TF2), there's an easter egg where it dispenses a can of Banang (a running gag from Sam and Max)
#13 (2:06) reminds me of those scrapped subnautica items or PDA databank logs that are still in the game and accessible with creative mode and the command console. It's just kinda uncanny when something clearly unfinished and unused is still *there* (ex: Terraformer, Lithium Ion Battery, those weird databank logs that just say “CORRUPTED“ or something in creative mode)
4:28 If we count all the warpaints that have been added to the game, that can be applied to 42 weapons, have 5 wear conditions each, and can come in strange, unusual or both and add everything up, just the warcases added roughly 108 360 unique possible items into TF2 since they've been introduced into the game
fact 102: the red tape recorder's disks (the white circles idk what they're called) will be stationary when inactive, but will spin when it's active active means it's in the condition to sap a building (this is also indicated by the white outlines when you're about to sap a building)
15:55 Looking and hearing about this picture for the first time, I have a theory that this mysterious unknown man in the middle might have something to do with the Administrator's old debt that she's been trying to settle using the Australium in the comics. I am surprised this was never mentioned before
really nice video, just a few things I wanted to point out: 10: Also worth bringing up Team Fortress Classic in that (or Team Classic or whatever). I would also say that it kinda fucks with the whole RED and BLU thing to just have halves of the mercenaries from each game comprise a "team", which leads to whether or not there are 18 mercs or if there's just 9, especially considering how BLU (with the exception of Engie) just flat out disappears from existence after Gray takes over (or just 9 of the 18 if you go off of A Fate Worse Than Chess), like Miss Pauling doesn't even try to track down BLU team, and RED team is treated as THE Medic, or THE Sniper... or how some mercs remember things that only happened to their other team's counterpart, but whatever. Thinking about the "logic" of TF2's world hurts me brain. 28: Fifth if we include Team Fortress Invasion (since we are counting Brotherhood of Arms). 30: Ayyy ay wait, didn't you debunk that in your Admin video? Wouldn't she be ~120yrs with that logic (the genealogy/census records)? Like, even if you're talking about Elizabeth, the voice that announces to the mercs in-game is very much Helen (see: The Naked and the Dead). Oh yeah also are you ever gonna elaborate on the cliffhanger ya put in that video... or was that the joke? 45: Bro really just willed Scout out of existence lol. 61: We know that her first name starts with an "F" thanks to the Fight Songs vinyl case. But yeah, that's about it. I always assumed she was close to Scout in age, but that would mean that Administrator hired her for this job as a teenager, making all that abuse somehow even worse. 79: idk I still say it's an ancestor of Charles Darling (or even himself, idk). 83: It's worth noting that the Organ Needle neighbors a missile range built in 1941 (White Sands). Could this mean anything for Admin's painfully hollow mysterious plans and "old debt"? Probably not. 85: Probably to not set the community in (even more) flames. TF2 remains as the one thing that is still worth sending 2 guys over to sprinkle some fancy bug fixes and community-made content on every now and then. 100: I'm pretty sure it can be deduced that Arena's removal was due to the death mechanics being a nightmare for the casual queuing system and prompting more rage quits, worsening the problem (and arguably just shit in general for 12v12 but that's neither here nor there). Asteroid and Cactus Canyon were likely cases of Valve having no place for the Beta queue in casual and subsequently losing motivation. But yeah, no "official word". Sorry for the long comment. Can't wait for this new era of Casperr, and I wish you the best of luck with this path!
@@pancakeperson8905 ik, it also explains the way she behaves and treats her job (see: Expiration Date, the Tough Break contract lines, her vision in The Naked and the Dead, etc.). it’s just not a pretty picture when ya think about it.
My theory with regard to the teams and why one team seems to evaporate from existence in the comic timeline is that it's part of a continuity. The Gravel Wars used two teams, one for BLU and one for RED, and the lore mentions multiple times that these teams were evenly matched and caused a stalemate. Whether this is because neither team was able to kill the other, or because both companies had cloning technology (which explains respawns and multiple of the same class on the same team) that was too dangerous for Blutarch and Redmond to use on themselves, is up to you and is a small diversion within the theory that doesn't matter in the end. Either way, eventually nine of the 18 mercs do die for real (and the cloning technology is destroyed somehow) but only one of each class, with no two scouts, soldiers, pyros, etc surviving. The stalemate appears to be over. However, before either side gets a chance to totally eliminate the other, Gray assassinates Blutarch and Redmond which means the mercs are no longer hired so they stop fighting. Then is the MvM saga, and like we see in the first MvM trailer, the remainders of the two teams unite to fight the robots. They unify under RED uniform not out of allegiance to Redmond or his company but purely for logical combat purposes as the robots are all of metallic bluish colour so they're now red for contrast in order to spot each other as allies. They have no problem getting along and having the same team dynamic as they did with their dead comrades as the Gravel Wars were just business. This is the team that is always seen as being RED in the stories that appear to omit the existence of BLU team, or vice versa.
@@Psyche_TH honestly i would be all for that theory, it’s just that, again, certain classes know (or are associated with) things that exclusively happened to their other-team counterpart, biggest example being the reference to A Smissmas Story in Unhappy Returns (former-BLU Scout retells a tale involving former+current-RED Soldier and Spy, when all three were BLU in that story). also, you’d think permanently losing half of the mercenary power of RED and BLU due to some freak accident would be what forces the Mann brothers into a truce, but nah, Gray tricks them both with fabricated letters. there’s also the consistency issue of *which* mercs from *which* team survived (A Fate Worse Than Chess, the MvM trailer, the Fight Songs cover, etc.), and the question of the same logic with TFC and the other past teams, but whatever. the way I see it, there is absolutely no in-universe explanation. the writers simply did not give a shit and wanted a whole story arc without having to keep track of two of each class (especially when TFC comes along), and so they just had one of each to represent each class.
@@thespringlock1794 Yeah that's fair. In the end the efficient storywriting reason makes the most sense, but I like to use the theory whenever I want to be immersed.
I think there's an explanation for respawns or the fact that the mercs can't actually die. The Medic had apparently taken the souls of each of the mercs and sealed them within himself, Medic uses this to escape Hell after dying in the comics. Not to mention Sniper is brought back from the dead in the comics, Scout as well (though the circumstance was similar to Medic except Scout ended up in Heaven instead).
On the topic of #64, The Half Zatoichi is a reference to a series about a fully blind samurai. And the "Half" in the item name references demo's missing eye
Out of all these facts, the one that blows my mind the most is the sentry guns' beeps indicating their level. I've sunk hundreds of hours into Engie and never picked up on that
26: SFM Was initially found to be within an old beta build of TF2, hidden but inaccessible and likely left within the files by accent. It required clever coding skills to uncover and get working afaik, but someone did it (i don't recall who) and that's how SFM came about. It was another year or two until Valve officially released the tool, to much cheer as their updated version fixed a lot of the frustrating bugs that were present in the beta version.
15:33 That game is about your vehicle transforming from a cart into a boat or a plane and so on. When you're driving a plane, it becomes spy. When you're driving a boat it becomes Heavy. And none of them use their original voice actors. 16:03 - Scout naturally is worth 2 players pushing it. Same for Soldier or Demo if they're holding the "Pain Train" melee weapon. These stats also work for control points too. 18:03 - In Russian accent, "Mikhail" is "Mirraeel". He also has a nickname from his sisters and mom as "Misha" 18:06 - There's a chance that Medic's second name is "Humboldt". On the map Rottenburg for mvm, we find a place that states a certain "Mr. Humboldt" sells baboon uteruses, the same that medic uses on the most recent comics.
I like this video because even as someone who knows most things about TF2's development and the full lore there were still lots of things in this that I actually did not know prior

ok this is gonna have nothing to do with the actual contents of the video, but when i got to the end, i thought i recognized the bg song's drum samples from the DAW i was using, and, lo and behold, i was right! The song was made using ableton live, and the drums are the "Four AM Kit" drum rack.
I got my wiki cap back in 2011 (jesus im getting old). Im surprised that a lot of players to this day still had no ideia it existed. You can still get one. I think the last owner was awarded a few months ago.
It's because there's an understated disparity between people that do things about the game and people that play the game. The overlap of people that do both on a regular enough basis is surprisingly small. Creators on the workshop (or at least, the ones that successfully get their items into the game) have accrued a reputation for outright spitting on the TF2 art style as they just want royalties and don't actually play: many cosmetics and a number of maps are testament to this. Others from 'the good old days' have mostly moved onto other things, notwithstanding that a lot of the items during said days were created by Valve themselves so community items were less common. TF2 UA-camrs tend to end up spending more time editing and adding commentary to gameplay footage than they did recording it, or in some instances they're using SFM to illustrate a scene so they didn't need to use the game at all. This is counterbalanced by streamers and pro scene casters, but the audience for those is much smaller at present. Then there's 'trader mains' who are only interested in the economy and only open the game to organise their backpack or show off/advertise in a trade server, which I wouldn't really count as playing. So it would therefore not surprise me if most people that have earned themselves the wiki cap in reality don't meaningfully engage with the source product the wiki is about, and subsequently the wiki cap is rarely seen by other players. Same as how you'll probably never see other real 'community' or 'self-made' quality items due to what I said about workshoppers above.
As i kinda expected, i knew all of the gameplay effecting facts and a few random item based fun facts. I haven't even played this game for more than a few hours since the meet your match update. God i was such a nerd back in 2015

20:20 They respawn because medic has their souls
Love that I’m still learning things about this 17 year old game
12:15 #63 I didn't realize this was changed. It used to be the Spy's name would be your name. So if you saw a friendly with your name, it was a dead giveaway it was a Spy.

While true, there is some in-game evidence that pyro is indeed human: the Voodoo-cursed Pyro soul.
Then again there are many cosmetics that straight up remove their (its?) Head

10:45 One of the reasons to disable auto reload is that it can block the Rescue Ranger from saving a building.
Auto reload just feels off I like manually reloading
I unboxed 7 unusual in 30 crates. I did it in the Vatican City Server a while back. i still have all the hats from that unbox. That was a crazy night.
yeah didn't they only let you have 1st unsual for trading or whatever but the rest are untradable
@@pushyrummble8625 i did this on the Christmas update last year. It was no where close to that broken crate drop rate time. Honestly it would be 30 of 30 for unusual and that would have been broke as all hell.

TFtubers single handedly keeping TF2 alive
10:11 Sadly after 2021 MacOS stopped supporting 32bit software. I was hopeful that the 64bit update would allow us Mac users to play TF2 again but Valve never released the update to Mac users.
lol
10:45 actually, there is one weapon this is untrue for. The shortstop's right click shove ability can't be used while you're reloading.
I guess in case you needed another reason the shortstop sucks...
9:00 forgor scout
Scout's character is made after a popular TF2 streamer Jerma985, that's why scout's name is Jeremy and he is from Boston
@awezmo5499boston is not real, jerma made it up as part of his channel lore
I once met someone in game with a community sparkle effect for the Demo's Dustcatcher cosmetic. It was really cool.

Finally a video that i straight from the start facts without yappin
#13 (2:06) reminds me of those scrapped subnautica items or PDA databank logs that are still in the game and accessible with creative mode and the command console. It's just kinda uncanny when something clearly unfinished and unused is still *there*
(ex: Terraformer, Lithium Ion Battery, those weird databank logs that just say “CORRUPTED“ or something in creative mode)
18:00
Scout is actually named Jeremy after Jerma985 because of how much people would say he resembles and acts like him.
The auto reload is actually funky with the shortstop
21:20 LOL is that where the spies disguise sfm idea came from?
8:42 incredible “short” films 😂
4:28 If we count all the warpaints that have been added to the game, that can be applied to 42 weapons, have 5 wear conditions each, and can come in strange, unusual or both and add everything up, just the warcases added roughly 108 360 unique possible items into TF2 since they've been introduced into the game
And I didn't even count festivized versions which basically double this number
13:24 Idk if that's when it started or I noticed it but when that background music hit my ears I immediately chimed out "You were close!"
fact 102: the red tape recorder's disks (the white circles idk what they're called) will be stationary when inactive, but will spin when it's active
active means it's in the condition to sap a building (this is also indicated by the white outlines when you're about to sap a building)
15:33 it's actually not just pyro it's heavy and spy too
15:55 Looking and hearing about this picture for the first time, I have a theory that this mysterious unknown man in the middle might have something to do with the Administrator's old debt that she's been trying to settle using the Australium in the comics. I am surprised this was never mentioned before
6:15
Oh hey that middle one I got two days in a row.
Fun stuff.
How do you get that one? Highest amount of kills?
10:17 there is another VR game called contractors and one of the mods is almost a full recreation of TF2
Wow, I didn't know you still uploaded. This is the first video I've gotten recommended from you in over a year.
Glad to see you're still here
Fun fact: The Administrator has the same voice actor as GladOS from the Aperture science enrichment center
really nice video, just a few things I wanted to point out:
10: Also worth bringing up Team Fortress Classic in that (or Team Classic or whatever).
Pauling being a teenager when she was hired absolutely makes sense for TF2 lore.
The first major game with different classes was Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. This game, wothout a strong community, but still, is alive.
Maybe the capacity to transform yourself in a dispenser, serves to a hide and seek mode, idk.
i knew all of those but the sentry beeps :)
i knew that the beeps were different but didnt notice that it beeps one time for each level
The fact that I'm STILL learning new things about this game is incredible
The sentry beep fact shook me , never noticed with 4000+ hours
15:48 This guy we don't see could be someone we're supposed to see in the unreleased 8th comic.
And the "Half" in the item name references demo's missing eye
smh didn't even talk about the official crossover with Peggle, Peggle Extreme, where pyro sets a hamster on fire
his name is jimmy lightning god damnit and you will respect it
10,000 hours and I did not know the sydney sleeper can extinguish teammates
Out of all these facts, the one that blows my mind the most is the sentry guns' beeps indicating their level. I've sunk hundreds of hours into Engie and never picked up on that
26: SFM Was initially found to be within an old beta build of TF2, hidden but inaccessible and likely left within the files by accent. It required clever coding skills to uncover and get working afaik, but someone did it (i don't recall who) and that's how SFM came about. It was another year or two until Valve officially released the tool, to much cheer as their updated version fixed a lot of the frustrating bugs that were present in the beta version.
9:14 forgot about the scout, huh?
I like to believe that demo wrote his own description, and that's why there are so many different versions of it
14:20 As an Engineer main, it was shocking for me to learn this 9 years after I started playing the game.
I used to exclusively play robot destruction and cactus canyon. Those maps were so much fun. I was so sad when they were removed.
20:33 that’s a bishop pal
Finally someone who talks about the origin of the eternal reward. I always thought it was from Aladin but never had any proof
bro wasen't lying! he can pronounce that very long town name!
He also has a nickname from his sisters and mom as "Misha"
18:06 - There's a chance that Medic's second name is "Humboldt". On the map Rottenburg for mvm, we find a place that states a certain "Mr. Humboldt" sells baboon uteruses, the same that medic uses on the most recent comics.
Mr. Humboldt may also be where the Medic sources his baboon uteruses from.
Cheers for constant quality uploads I consider myself a knowledge bank but there were quite a lot of things I didn't even know that were on here.
I like this video because even as someone who knows most things about TF2's development and the full lore there were still lots of things in this that I actually did not know prior
16:10
I was there, since first half hour, and allow me to tell you more about it.
It was not for all crates, it was 1 speciffic crate, i forgot which was it now.
People who unboxed way too many got steam trade banned later, and all unusuals unboxed in such a way were later marked as not tradeable.
I love how for some the orange box for Xbox 360 is fascinating and surprising but for others it’s how they met the game
the first actually video of actual 101 facts and not just “1. tf2 is a shooter released in 2008” (and also one of the only games with 101 facts to even have 😂
For fact 45 you forgot scout...
In Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed(the PC version), TF2(which is the racer’s name)is represented by three mercenaries: Pyro for the car, Spy for the plane, and Heavy for the boat.
Sorry but what about scout at 9:15 ?
133% move speed for scout

things get weird when you introduce weapons that alter walking speed, like the Powerjack, the Eyelander, the Escape Plan, the GRU or the Baby Face's Blaster
also Scout exists
ok this is gonna have nothing to do with the actual contents of the video, but when i got to the end, i thought i recognized the bg song's drum samples from the DAW i was using, and, lo and behold, i was right!
My favourite item referencing something is probably the brothers in blues which obviously references the movie The Blues Brothers. Rip John Belushi.
i have 5400 h in this game and i know 50+ of these, i deserve a medal

A fun fact about scout's name is that he was named after Jerma because they look so much alike.
