To be fair, Re zero season 2 was naturally gonna be slower since a whole point of the trial is the characters getting over their past whereas season 1 is super fast pace since the idea was crafting a better future. This may or may not imply season three will have a focus on the present but we'll just have to wait and see
As a person who read the original web novel of the Assassin anime a long time ago (and some of the manga), I just want to say this: Greatest adaptation of an isekai ever! It turned some of the worst trash I have ever read into a somewhat enjoyable story. I'm honestly shocked. To put it into perspective, almost all the stand-out moments are anime original. The entire 1 episode=filler The main character's inner dialog on assassin stuff=filler The torture scene=filler The blue-haired girl's backstory episode=mostrly filler The Goddess actually appearing in the story beyond her introduction=filler If you thought you saw character development or something funny=filler Giving a deep description of the magic system=Mostly filler Good pacing=filler tl;dr: reverse arifureta
@@BooleanDev did the author help with the anime production? i really enjoyed the show but tbh i only started watching it cause the author was the same as redo of healer
It was pretty bad after all the moments you mentioned though, like yeah the first few and the last episodes were enjoyable but everything inbetween was bad
Gigguk's comparison between between Attack on Titan season 2 and Re:Zero season 2 is one i agree with, we're just now getting into the meat of the series, given that episode 18 "From Zero" is considered the end of the prologue. and since the whole series is planned to be 11 arcs long, with some quite sizeable arcs, there's gonna be a lot of meat to dig into. the whole series is gonna be an estimated 50+ volumes long, over twice the size of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and even dwarfing Ascendance of a Bookworm's projected 33 volume length. hell, White Fox barely managed to fit in Arc 4 during season 2, even with regular 29 minute episodes and despite that, important stuff was still cut from the anime
@@joehole1975 one of my favorite scenes from the novel is when gluttony made subaru so hungry that he ended up eating his own fingers. Sadly the anime cut this part out.
@@joehole1975 I'll give you a basic important list: Satella and the witch of envy are split personalities caused by her not being compatible with her authority, Otto has been signed up to be the new general affairs official of the camp without his knowledge by Subaru, Beatrice now has a limit to how much magic she can use due to using up hers on the rabbit and Subaru being bad at magic, Subaru s gate is broken, Wilhelm s old wound given to him by his wife (who had the power to make wounds that never closed as long as she s close) reopened,Meili has surprendered herself into being captured because she s afraid of what "mother" (the assassin group s leader) might do to her after not only failing but also letting Elsa die, Echidna and the tea party witches hijacked Ryuzu Shima (the one who sacrificed herself) s body and are roaming the world again.
The Jobless controversy boils down to people not willing to watch the story presented to them and let the author flesh out the character. The whole story is Rudy trying to fix his warped and unhealthy personality. A microcosm of that is Paul. All we heard the first half of season one was Paul is a shit bag and the worst kind of person because he cheated (even though more about that event comes to light later) but after you meet back up with him later in the second half people start to realize he is a great character, a very good father to his daughter and you get some context to why he was the way his was with Rudy (it’s basically he felt inferior to Rudy intellectually). People Rudy is evolving and becoming a better person along his journey. Let the author tell the story.
It's like a lot of the complaints about Re: Zero. "Subaru is a terrible person" - yes, because he's intentionally made to have bad personality traits to be developed and overcome as the story progresses. It's why Jobless and Re:Zero are really good - their protagonists are intentionally and well-written FLAWED characters and those flaws even directly relate to the actual plot of the story. They're not just a bundle of characteristics like most anime protags, they're actually fleshed out.
@@VarietySeth "barely treat his actions towards Eris like a bad thing" - of course, someone who is flawed is going to struggle to recognize their flaws as flaws. But... you know... he was literally kicked out of the house which led to his death BECAUSE of his pedophilia consumption (well, it was half of the last straw). The story, at no point, condones it. It literally starts by highlighting it as a negative. His character is basically introduced AS this kind of person and that it's something that needs to be addressed.
@@VarietySeth I totally agree with you. If the main character was just more likeable it would have been the perfect show (not meaning make him OP like the other 99% of Main Characters). I didn't feel like Rudy really improved his views towards women in the show which was really frustrating since I wanted him to become better. He went from taking advantage of Eris to spying on her when she is taking a bath (among other things). Like yes it's an improvement but can you really say it's an improvement? I will 100% keep watching it because all other aspects are great but I do see this show as being a missed opportunity and could it could have been one of the best.
There are stupid hard core fans (quite alot of them) defend rudy's actions that are clearly wrong. I enjoy the show too, but at least admit there are disgusting actions commited by rudy.
"Ah shit, here we go again"... The same old discussions. I sometimes ask myself, if they even watch the part with Garnts reasoning, because i find it sums up the situation quite good and make most discussions obsolete.
Faraway Paladin really tricked me with those first few episodes before he left the island he grew up on. It was quite well animated and was really interesting. I think the characters and story stayed interesting enough but the animation fell into the mariana's trench and just brought everything down. So I'm a Spider deserves a better studio man. Aoi Yuki carried that show so hard with the horrible CG and the 2d really wasn't much better. Plus he godlike ED just keeps giving.
oh yeah 49:08 just realized Re:Zero S2 actually spent 25 episodes with 30 minutes long each episode only in the Sanctuary. And I apparently got amazed by it lol.
Definitely. In my case, the anime is like a mix of low A- tier and high B- Tier. However, the op is without a doubt atleast a high A-tier or maybe even a low S-tier.
It’s kinda funny that Re:Zero follows the AoT curve quite well. Until now (no spoilers per say but I will give insights to future themes) it has been exactly like Garnt said. The next season is a fast paced action arc but it differs from there on because S4 will be more like S2 of AoT again (but better because of Shaula) and S5 will be like S3 part 1 of AoT, with political elements and battles (can’t say much because it isn’t finished yet). Many have made theories that there will be a war arc in Re:Zero in future so it’s almost like S4 of AoT (without the racism plot)
@Nerfular let's wish the big names from wit, white fox and bind do something great with S4 cuz good action choreography and direction is very much needed.
My biggest source of fear for the Re:Zero anime going forward is that season 4 will be HEAVILY narrative. It's very difficult to adapt something like that into visual format, ESPECIALLY since the anime doesn't have a narrator like the novels. Maybe they could pull a Hunter x Hunter and introduce a narrator out of nowhere.
@LV.10 BOT True... but there is an issue with that. There are many times in the novels when the narrator says things that Subaru has no idea about, for example commenting on Subaru's hero complex. Things like that just wouldn't make sense if it came from Subaru. Imo the best thing to do here is to introduce a narrator that only comes in occasionally when things can't be narrated by Subaru.
I think season 2 of Re zero while slow is going to be looked back as one of the best. It is kind of slow but the absolute build up and character development they pack into this season is insane. If you love character driven storys then Re zero is probably the best anime at this hands down. This season allows all future seasons to just be packed with content since now we are invested in all of the main characters.
Only way i can explain the "appeal" of Slime Diaries for me: *_"It's the daily {peaceful} life of the Citizens of Tempest, but with a funny {Cute?} wholesome vibe."_* Also non-canon {But doesn't really conflict with the main series so--}, but perhaps may feel more attached to the citizens and the city if watch/read Diaries. Example GELD with the Goblin Childs, which adds yet another 1+ when Geld starts to pummel into a crater that Otherworlder's ass.
Diaries are quasi cannon, the author of the Slime novel said that the manga is based on material he had but could not fit into the main novel because of space a and time constraints about the ordinary days in tempest... so the events in diaries are cannon but they are more like a comedic retelling of the events, think the Ember Island Play from Avatar season 3 The novel Author is actually involved in most of the side Mangas from what I know
@@gentlemansgambit1018 And the novel author is involved in those spinoffs making them quasi canon, which is awesome ... The one I am hoping to be adapted next is Trinity
My top 5 (of all time, and it's very close) would be: 1. Re:Zero 2. Mushoku Tensei 3. Konosuba 4. Ascendance of a Bookworm 5. Overlord Honorable mentions: Tensei Slime, SAO season 3 only, Gate, Tsukimichi, Grimgar, The Devil is a Part-Timer, Saga of Tanya the Evil, and Princess Connect! Re: Dive
Same with "Liking Attack on Titan = you support genocide, torture, slavery and murder" Like it's all just fiction, it's understandable to be uncomfortable by it.
@@AquilaPainWhy being uncomfortable just creates barriers from you to expand new horizons and to see new perspectives. There is nothing OK in being uncomfortable, is just natural and means you want to keep doing what you already like and can't handle more.
In Re-Zero S2 Emilia wanting to talk to Subaru about her "pregnancy", after she and Subaru kissed has to be the most adorable innocent thing I've seen an anime character do in a long time. She was so absolutely convinced that a boy and a girl kissing means making a baby, because Puck told her that when she was younger. And yet she didn't hesitate to kiss him, thinking she would get pregnant. I have to say I was never on the Rem x Subaru ship. Rem is great, but I don't see the same romantic relationship there, even with S1 Emilia. I adore S2 for making her such a lovable and much deeper character. Rem S1 > Emilia S1, but Emilia S2 >> Rem S1. And don't forget the new characters, like best boy Otto, Fredericka and Garf, not to mention the whole plot around Betty, Echidna and Roswal. Not a lot happened, but there was at least twice the character, lore and background developement.
It does a great job explaining why little badass Emilia from the movie suddenly got more passive in season 1. Also the lore dumping makes perfect sense if you think about season 1 and how much Subaru's lack of knowledge of the world was used with precision to advance the story. So it makes sense that they had to provide extra lore not just to set up the future but to give more context to season 1.
I can't blame you for putting Log Horizon in B without watching the full season. The last 3-4 episodes are full on fire. Finiish it, man, it's worth it.
I think he mixed it up with another show. The guy accidentally kills his child hood freind by accident in the first episode so i wouldn't really call it generic.
Garnt should really give the full dive MMO a shot. The protagonist is such a loser, and spends the whole anime learning how to become a chad. He never even gets close to approaching being OP. All the jokes in the middle to later half of the show are hilarious. Definitely worth a shot to see how good the writing is with it's set ups and pay offs.
@@revel8683 Sad to hear you didn't enjoy the show. I thought the backstories of Hiroshi and Reona were hilarious, and it was neat to see how people that played the game were successful in real life.
@@chrisotero123 by people u mean the singular 1 person who was the only one who finished the game became successful lol. the one that got reona so mad that she made this elaborate plan to one up him by seducing and coercing this random loser high schooler who pissed his pants in a track competition. enough with my gripes tho. I chose to watch thru the entire show. If the plot was faster i would actually like it, but it was gruelling
Isekai has so many great fantasy series, I don't understand why they don't just drop the first part of getting randomly teleported and just make it a full blown fantasy series. A lot of Isekai never do anything with that part of the story and by the end we often just forget that part even happened.
Sensationalism. Isekai is popular, so ANYTHING that starts off as an Isekai, will draw people in. It's why half the Isekai manga on the market are also failing or have failed.
I do not 100% agree with you. With isekai giving exposition to the viewer is easy and well integrated intoo the plot. Because the main character learn about the fantasy world at same time than the viewer. To get the same exposition with standard fantasy require more screen time and often end up weird and boring. There is a reason why many old good fantasy show are often some kind of isekai or something like discovering an unknown secret/organization or moving to a new place or being amnesic. The story need a way to tell things to the viewer and the best way to do so is to make sure the main character also need to learn about it.
Well I think it is just to show the audience that this character is not from here. Also I don't really think that's what people complain about when it comes to isekai, yeah that part makes it called an isekai but people just got tired of the same plot, not same beginning. (I don't watch much anime so idk if I'm credible lol, I just watch enough anitubers lol). Gigguk even putted some fantasy on here because of how similar they were to an isekai plot Take away: the traveling to another world is needed to show that the main character is new to this new world.
I call cap, Garnt didn't see Fulldive, he confused it with something else and then tried to play it off saying it had no twists. That first episode was nothing but twists. Now he can argue about whether they effectively pulled off the twists or if the humor hit but to say no twists you didn't see that shit buddy.
Yeah, I think he was thinking of a different show because other than the "full dive" VR aspect it shared next to nothing with SAO. The best part of the show was the titles he earned as he progressed through the game. Having to wear an ID bracelet with "Friend killer" etc. was really funny.
@@authorRisenfromash or the fact that he pissed himself in game and the smell stayed until he washed it off or changed, SAO had non of that, Garnt needs to watch Full Dive properly if he's gonna give it an e after confusing it with Arifureta
I was looking for this comment. Full dive deserved a lot more than it got. It genuinely felt like a unique twist on the genre. Main character goes into a game thinking he's going to be the generic hero character with everything handed to him, only to realize again and again that it's actually a dark souls game with real pain mechanics that bricks your console if you die. This show wasn't even my preferred genre but I honestly think it deserved a B
It wasn't a very good show, to be honest. Though, admittedly, I was annoyed with it in part because of how badly it failed with the guard training. Swords instead of spears, plus generic "scream and charge in" anime protagonist fighting, instead of something, well, realistic. And while they could have gone with that, then it should at least have stressed that it was that way because the incompetent trainer. If you're going to stress that the game is realistic, then it needs to be realistic, or point out why it is doing things that aren't how the reality would probably be due to a "realistic" reason (trainer incompetence, for example).
@@Axterix13 not really as anytime the main character tried to treat the game like well a game he was punished for it he had to realize the choices he makes matters and that there isn't an easy way to get better, the random burst of plot like his increased speed only happened because he started to care with episode 12 being the best example of subverting expectations because the childhood friend dies you expect this new revelation to be the thing that makes him win only to get tripped by an outside party and killed for it as if to spit in the face of the trope
Tsukimichi is very solid, I'd put it at a low S tier, high A tier, anybody who enjoys isekai would enjoy it, I personally don't really like isekai but this was a huge surprise, currently reading the web novel and it's even better, heard the manga adaptation's also good
Tsukimichi webnovel is a banger... there's actually a character development which is very rare in isekai series. and the power development are very good too
The ones who had qualms about Mushoku are probably the same people who watched Game of Thrones as their number one show. That show had incest, inbred grooming, abuse, torture. But it's okay and cool to watch that.
@@VarietySeth Agreed, the show doesn't really punish his perversion. And while I personally like the show, its totally understandable if people are really put off by his actions and hate the show.
Tsukimichi is very much a slow burner, it is very detailed, which means it has A LOT of text The anime actually skipped/rushed quite a lot of content and details
The anime has no need to rush the pace tho, 'cuz what I really enjoy in this was the chemistry with the main trio. Story was good but Tomoe and Mio was really entertaining.
Season 2 of Re:Zero felt like watching Gotham Chess go over the earlygame before a crazy lategame attack. The development was perfect and sets up into some crazy moves later.
I doubt he remembers what Full Dive is even about. He first thought it was an isekai where the whole class is isekai'd. Then chat corrected him, and he said it was just one person getting isekai'd. YET he was still wrong, as it isnt an isekai. I would call it a mix of Grimgar and Sword Art Online with a comedy element. Grimgar due to the "real"likeness, as the monsters (goblins) are strong and not weak like in any other isekai. SAO due to the VRMMO setting and not isekai together with the Skill(?) system. Personally you don't watch for the uniqueness, you watch for the absurdness. That game is too diffucult/boring for it to be a real game. The story is too absurd that it is funny. With the only one guy completed the game and stuff. I feel like it deserves a High-B to Low-A, as it isnt an isekai, it is a VRMMO that we don't have many off (SAO, KUmaKumaKuma, and his?). It depends on what element of the story you focus on. I focused on the comedy and the absurdness in this anime, so I would give it a Low-A (also Mizarisa best girl)
@@Canadian_Teemo for me it was more like GAMERS combined with sao because of how it handles parody aspects of the show. Oh and you've forgotten about BOFURI. It's also a vrmmo type of anime but on a lighter side like kuma kuma kuma.
What Garnt is saying: I'm including fantasy shows 'cuz they have the same isekai vibe. What Garnt is thinking: That's just an excuse so I could include Redo of Healer in this list.
So weird that everyone hates Full dive, it was literally one of the few Isekai in 2021 that DIDN'T follow the normal isekai-route. It was fucking great and hilarious as well, it's B+ tier for sure if you really know what you're talking about.
@@creativename2567 Never said different = good. But Gigguk himself explained he dropped it after 1 episode, because he thought it was super generic. Which is not the case at all.
There were a lot of solid isekai's this year that I enjoyed. Of course there's some bad ones (notably from the E and F tier) but for the most part, 2021 was solid af
Full dive is everything but generic. The main character is a total loser who kills is "best friend" almost immediately and has his best female friend trying to kill him the entire show. Also he isn't permanently stuck in the vrmmorpg, he has save points where he can get out. And there are some surprisingly emotional moments too.
people don't know apparently how fun the show is. Let them be I'm definitely not explaining the internet about this. If people ask me I'm gonna say I enjoyed it and leave
i'm honestly really glad he liked World's Finest Assassin. it was just a random show i picked and honestly now its my favourite isekai and in my top 10 best anime. there's been rumours of a season 2 and i damn hope there is
I think you missed Full Dive - that show was pretty messed up, had a pretty good twist. Without spoiling anything, the game totally hates the player, allows them to make horrible decisions, and then they have to live with it forever and the game will adapt. Turns all of the typical tropes on their head. Also it's completely degenerate, something you will probably hate yourself for liking.
Yeah, I enjoyed it and I don't even watch most isekai but I liked the premise of how the game made his life a living hell. You definitely couldn't appreciate it from the first episode or two. You had to keep watching to see that it was unique and subversive.
Ye Full Dive was honestly super good, and didn't follow the standard formula AT ALL. Not sure what Gigguk is on about, it was a funny AF show tbh. At least B+ tier.
Nah Redo gotta be S tier. It hits all my kinks. But in all seriousness, people may drop Mushoku tensei and just view rudy as your average pervy MC but the thing that I like about him being a perv is that firstly, it shows that he still has some of his elements of his past life, so him living this new life again is for him to change himself to become a better person while dealing with these past demons.
Redo manga was the biggest heap of trash for multiple reasons, had a quick look at a few of the H scenes but knowing the story made me not even turned on or made me want to watch the anime That’s how trash Redo is
My greatest gripe about people ignoring Mushoku just cuz of Rudy is that those very same people are also people who probably forgive characters that are: - Serial killers (killing innocent people *on purpose* ) - Committed literal warcrimes - Psychologically manipulate people in the worst way possible - An actual psychopath but its fine cuz they were cute/handsome - NTR is fine if they were hot
its simple. he's a pedo and thats it. that doesn't mean i forgive characters that are serial killers in an anime or a character that commits literal warcrimes (eren) though he was justified in doing it, not that it makes it right for him to kill innocent people but he was still justified in doing it. no i dont forgive or like characters that are manipulative lmao what are you talking about. and yes people don't care if a character is an actual psychopath because it is unrealistic, an actual psychopath doesn't go around laughing and murdering people or whatever and ntr is shit scum i dont understand how people actually sit down and get turned on by ntr, there is nothing about ntr that makes sense and its fucking crazy how many people actually like ntr and get off to it
I'm not a person that typically watches reverse harem shows but I really loved The Saints Magic Power is Omnipotent. I don't think you have to be a fan of that genre to enjoy it AT ALL. I think Garnt did it a disservice here, especially with him admitting he only watched 3 episodes of it. For me, Sei was in the running for best girl of 2021, and though I would give it to Komi, it was closer than I would have thought before watching the show. I had almost no expectations for it and I really enjoyed it. Every week when a new episode came up it put a smile on my face before I even watched it. EDIT: For the dudes in the chat saying it's not a reverse harem, sounds like some people been hitting the copium not wanting to admit they liked a reverse harem. It is CLEARLY a reverse harem. There were NOT right.
Eh, I wouldn't call it a reverse harem at all, at least not so far. There's really only one guy pining for her, romantically. The other main male isn't obsessed with her, but rather her magic. And then you briefly have the merc, who is in and out of the story pretty quickly. If that's a reverse harem, then so is Romeo and Juliet, because, hey, there's a second guy interested in Juliet.
Oh hey another fan of it. There's dozens of us, dozens! But really, it was just a really solid fantasy romance for the most part, the isekai was pretty secondary. Then again, it usually is in most isekai.
Tsukumichi moonlit fantasy is really good and season 2 is insanely better (because they had to rush season 1) but bro, this anime has so much potential I feel like it can easily surpass the slime anime
Thank you, I was scrolling through comments desperate to find one person defending Full Dive. It wasn't anything amazing, but I certainly wouldn't call it generic.
Bruh i can't believe that "it's too slow" is used as an argument against an isekai show, which is SUPPOSED to build his world and his character a lot to be somewhat decent
Its personal preference, if things are developing too slow the reader may lose interest. Its not really my argument but I can understand why some people could say that
Ehh.. too slow is defintely a problem as well.. Mushoku is probably what you want to look at when you want to pace your Isekai. Not too fast not too slow.
If a show feels too slow, it's done something wrong. A show can take it slow without feeling like it. The first seasons of Game of Thrones took it slow, but so much was happening regardless. When people complain that a show is too slow, what they're really saying is that not enough is going on.
If the development is interesting, there's no problem in "being slow", I think that's more of a problem when things that could be done faster and be pleasant, well done and and make sense take more time than it should, like the 5 minutes before namekusei exploding in dbz
Thx for giving me a nice list of anime i can watch. Have gotten in to the isekai genre more lately so im a bit behind but Garnt usually have good taste so i trust his opinion on the shows i haven`t watched.
full dive wasnt even isekai, and it was frikkin great, outro song was banger. Honestly recomend it, garnt didnt even watch it and you can clearly tell. synopsis: loser pisses pants constantly to impress cute girl
Yes! Moonled Journey is one of my favorites and for damn good reason. While the anime was a bit rushed I can forgive that just because there was no guarantee it would get a second cour, so they had to tighten things up. My hope is that now a second cour has been confirmed the studio will have the chance to breathe a little and expand on some stuff better. I'll be honest when I saw your In a Nutshell mention Moonled and sum it up incorrectly I was disappointed, because while I know not everyone will like something I at least want them to dislike it on an accurate basis. Very happy to see you went back, gave it a chance, and learned why I treasure this series so much.
While I certainly enjoyed it, I can definitely agree it felt rushed. If they were planning to make a season 2 from the start they could have just saved the more climatic moments until the following season instead of shoehorning it for the season finale.
@@GenerationZ313 They didn't know is the thing. We didn't find out it was getting a second cour until the final episode aired, so they had no way of knowing while they were making the season. So I hope they do take things at a better pace for second cour.
48:00 that is because it is S3 will be wild S4 would adapt the best arc to date and S5.... Well I heard that the people of chaosflame are strong but are they stronger than those in the Shinobi village
40:30 When he talks about villainess, all I could think about was the amount of villainess stories I have read and may be adapted into anime in the future.
Tensei slime is the best for me. The only anime that made me read a light novel eventho Im not a reader. I love fantasy genre overall thats why I also love isekai manga/manwha. Her Summon is the most gorgeous isekai comic I ever seen.
As an avid Digimon fan, I can say all Digimon series are isekai. It is just a matter of time for them to get to the point. Also, Ghost Game has been some of the most fun I've had with a Digimon series over the last decade and a half.
I really liked the video that u made with ur friend 2 yrs ago. Will there be a recreation of it any time soon with the comparison of new isekais and old ones with new seasons?
Digimon Ghost game is pretty good, best season it's had since Savers over a decade ago, but not really an isekai yet, it's all been in the real world for now although there are hints they might go to the digital world, hopefully. Drug Store is kinda pointless when Isekai Yakkyoku has been announced to get an anime as it's same premise of being medicine based but does way more with it. Meikyu Black Company was surprisingly enjoyable and well made but didn't really excel at much either. Bakarina has the same issue I had with the manga: it's run it's course. It feels artificially extended, should have gone for being short and sweet like Vilainess' Slow Prison Life. Realist Hero's only good thing is that the art in the manga is good, it tries to sell on a smart MC like Shiroe from Log Horizon but the author can't write a good one. Slime didn't meet the expectations after how much source readers hyped it up but was still solid. Killing slime for 300 years is better as an anime than the source as the pacing of it made it a slow read but way better in anime, even though still not all too noteworthy. Spider felt like an insult as it now is 2 for 2 with lacklustre adaptations in both anime and manga that fail to catch (or straight up ruin) a lot of the magic and mystery of the light novel, guess Berserk 2016 wasn't a fluke. Standing on 1000 lives looks ugly and fell into my most hated "trope" within it's first few episodes so I dropped it. Saints Magic is Omnipotent is a good adaptation of a solid source material that has a clear vision of what it wants to be and succeeds at it but also limits it from being anything more, it's for a specific niche. Tsukimichi was good enough for me to stick to watching it until the end which lead to me actually seeing it go from alright to actually kinda cool, if a second season is more like the latter few episodes I can possibly see it become actually really good. Didn't watch the assassin one but surprised it was popular considering the manga was generic and just bad. Faraway Paladin shows that putting everything from the source material doesn't make a good adaptation if it leads to having the pacing of the Disastrous Life of Saiki K because it all gets crammed into such a short timeframe everything sounds like noise and nothing sticks, thing tat were tear-wrenching in the manga barely registered in the anime.

The show literally had consequences for the MC’s actions (It's “Mushoku Tensei at home”, with its character development). Definitely a solid C, because of all its tropes weighing it down.
@rick mel the definition of a season isnt as clear as the definition of a democratic republic. For me, what defines the seasons is just what its called. Theres no propaganda going on in the anime industry
The thing about Mushoku Tensei is yeah there are some F'd up things the Main Character does, but the show is very realistic in it's interpretation that there are F'd up things pretty much everyone does. But it never paints any of them as something good. At worst it treats them as neutral. Which isn't a bad thing. That adds to the realism. Cause different cultures have different beliefs and same applies with Mushoku Tensei where they commonly talk about the different races and different continents that have their own beliefs and religions which Rudeus actively tries to avoid accidentally causing conflict with only for it to still backfire in some other way. When he was locked up and thrown water on his face, that was the biggest form of humiliation possible that race could do basically saying they were gonna inflict the death penalty on him which flew over Rudeus's head he just took it as gaining a new fetish. Rudeus was used to doing a traditional Japanesse bow, but was corrected by Eris's family that his bow was not a proper one for a Greyrat male although it's meaning still went across. Then there is the fact everyone but Rudeus is unfazed at the sight of dead bodies. The Light Novel also adds a lot as well. Where you learn more about the past about a lot of important characters Lilia and Paul, as well as side stories of things going on at the same time somewhere else that Rudeus is not present in. Like where Ghislaine got teleported to, and what was happening there, or about another important character becoming a top tier mage, even whatever Eris is doing when she's not with Rudeus during their travel back home. The author of this series takes into account the very different perspectives of different races, and has expertly crafted it in the most realistic way possible, and that makes it an even more interesting story cause of that since that expands possibilities by so much. So for those Mushoku Tensei people that hate it cause of those controversies. Please do yourself a favor, and notice the other small details. No one is a good person in this series. The controversy about Rudeus is pointless cause maybe you might consider him as some "self-insert MC" like most other MC's but really he's just some Jobless nobody that got reincarnated. Hence the title. All his lolicon addiction stuff can actually be seen as a jab to Otaku's in Japan. He even fits the Ugly Bastard stereotype in his old life, and living in his parents house. He's objectively one of the worst people, and that is known from the very start. He's not a good person, but neither are most people in this world. But most people just cause they aren't perfect beings, doesn't make them bad people either. Rudeus constantly tries to learn from his old life, Ruijerd has been on a rehabilitation quest for 500 years, Paul has been trying to settle down and stay faithful to Zenith (didn't work) but he tried. Paul also tried his best to save his family from wherever they got teleported to, but was shortsighted in how Rudeus should have seen things overestimating everything about him. Eris ghosted Rudeus cause she wanted to improve on herself before coming back to him. Everyone is in someway trying to grow as a person. They all commit things they know are wrong, but are often just trying to find way to improve themselves. Like people in the real world, who make mistakes and try to grow from those mistakes, maybe make even more mistakes along the way cause the answer to not making mistakes isn't immediately clear to anyone. The most realistic thing a writer can do, and it is beautiful. Absolute poetry.

Kumoko was that one show where i found most of the characters annoying but still found enjoyable overall. Not even sure how that works. It did its job tho, it got me to read the LN which was a bit better.
I'm not sure how I did it myself. I thought that I would drop the show after the 3rd ep because of the cgi but I made it to 24 and wanting more. It also caused me to look into the lore and read ahead

Gigguk's comparison between between Attack on Titan season 2 and Re:Zero season 2 is one i agree with, we're just now getting into the meat of the series, given that episode 18 "From Zero" is considered the end of the prologue. and since the whole series is planned to be 11 arcs long, with some quite sizeable arcs, there's gonna be a lot of meat to dig into. the whole series is gonna be an estimated 50+ volumes long, over twice the size of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and even dwarfing Ascendance of a Bookworm's projected 33 volume length.
hell, White Fox barely managed to fit in Arc 4 during season 2, even with regular 29 minute episodes and despite that, important stuff was still cut from the anime
might I ask for a list of the stuff?
Arc 5 wont need longer episodes so the animation will probably be a lot better. Though I don't know if White Fox will be doing season 3.

Re zero season 2 and mushoku tensei in S tier? Based. Dude you made my day.

YESSS dark seeks light is such a bop
I'm hyped, still holding off going ahead of the anime but we'll see how long that lasts.
@Nerfular Yeah S3 gonna attract some watchers and I'm pretty sure Re zero S4 gonna be one of the mainstream
Restaurant into another world is absolutely addictive and deserves a promotion. Every episode was like 5 minutes.
I would say that Monogatari still has better characters overall but Re:Zero does have the potential to surpass it given where the novels are headed.
Only way i can explain the "appeal" of Slime Diaries for me: *_"It's the daily {peaceful} life of the Citizens of Tempest, but with a funny {Cute?} wholesome vibe."_*
Also non-canon {But doesn't really conflict with the main series so--}, but perhaps may feel more attached to the citizens and the city if watch/read Diaries. Example GELD with the Goblin Childs, which adds yet another 1+ when Geld starts to pummel into a crater that Otherworlder's ass.
Yeah that series is good for people who very invested in slime or people who love slice of life genre
the main thing that conflicts with the story is that Rimuru meets the King of Dwarves in a bunny suit. But its pretty lovely
Diaries are quasi cannon, the author of the Slime novel said that the manga is based on material he had but could not fit into the main novel because of space a and time constraints about the ordinary days in tempest... so the events in diaries are cannon but they are more like a comedic retelling of the events, think the Ember Island Play from Avatar season 3
The novel Author is actually involved in most of the side Mangas from what I know
It's based on the slime dairies manga or the other 2 spin offs. Slime has a bunch of spin offs and no one realises

Who's Rem?

Well just to clear something up, Puck wasn't the one that told Emilia that kissing = pregnancy. That was just a theory Subaru came up with.

@@keegan289 yea, it wasn't the best show and I found it hard to watch at some points but I wouldn't have called it unoriginal.
Garnt should really give the full dive MMO a shot. The protagonist is such a loser, and spends the whole anime learning how to become a chad. He never even gets close to approaching being OP. Isekai has so many great fantasy series, I don't understand why they don't just drop the first part of getting randomly teleported and just make it a full blown fantasy series. A lot of Isekai never do anything with that part of the story and by the end we often just forget that part even happened.
yeah,
I don't understand that too
Sensationalism.
Gigguk even putted some fantasy on here because of how similar they were to an isekai plot
Take away: the traveling to another world is needed to show that the main character is new to this new world.

The anime has no need to rush the pace tho, 'cuz what I really enjoy in this was the chemistry with the main trio. Story was good but Tomoe and Mio was really entertaining.

My guy made an E tier for a FULL DIVE yet he put cheap copy of Isekai Yakkyoku into the c tier. truly a man worth of his title
That hasnt even aired yet?
@@BooleanDev wdym
@@weebcopter8016 yea I mixed took KumaKumaKuma as Bofuri. Kumakuma is an isekai. My bad :)
What Garnt is saying: I'm including fantasy shows 'cuz they have the same isekai vibe.
What Garnt is thinking: That's just an excuse so I could include Redo of Healer in this list.
The beginning of Redo episode 5 is a masterpiece
Mushoku Tensei got robbed
So weird that everyone hates Full dive, it was literally one of the few Isekai in 2021 that DIDN'T follow the normal isekai-route. It was fucking great and hilarious as well, it's B+ tier for sure if you really know what you're talking about.
agreed, i like it as well
If being different made something good then the Redo of healer would be good
@@creativename2567 Never said different = good. But Gigguk himself explained he dropped it after 1 episode, because he thought it was super generic. Which is not the case at all.
There were a lot of solid isekai's this year that I enjoyed. Of course there's some bad ones (notably from the E and F tier) but for the most part, 2021 was solid af
Sonny boy ;( the ending is a bit sad…..ending is back to reality…..they just move on from what happen to them…..
this has been the very first 2hr video ive ever fully watched on youtube, i love this guy to bits his videos are so entertaining!
Damn, you're gonna love the future seasons of re zero.
I totally agree this shit was funny af
I also agree
same i remember it being so funny
From the sound of it Garnt confused it with some other show.
I think we've been here long enough that we need a tier list of years in anime, or seasons of anime.
Love this idea
i'm honestly really glad he liked World's Finest Assassin. it was just a random show i picked and honestly now its my favourite isekai and in my top 10 best anime. there's been rumours of a season 2 and i damn hope there is
I think you missed Full Dive - that show was pretty messed up, had a pretty good twist.
You had to keep watching to see that it was unique and subversive.
oh yeah Garnt super got this show wrong, main character is weaker than most and just wants the video game to be a video game not an isekai
Ye Full Dive was honestly super good, and didn't follow the standard formula AT ALL. Not sure what Gigguk is on about, it was a funny AF show tbh. At least B+ tier.
Nah Redo gotta be S tier. It hits all my kinks.
But in all seriousness, people may drop Mushoku tensei and just view rudy as your average pervy MC but the thing that I like about him being a perv is that firstly, it shows that he still has some of his elements of his past life, so him living this new life again is for him to change himself to become a better person while dealing with these past demons.
seek therapy then.
@@wesleywyndam-pryce5305 seek some grass, man

Redo manga was the biggest heap of trash for multiple reasons, had a quick look at a few of the H scenes but knowing the story made me not even turned on or made me want to watch the anime
That’s how trash Redo is
Full Dive deserved better, at least C Tier, its a fun Parody of VRMMO style Isekai, where the MC is the opposite of OP,
The scene in Arcane i watch over and over is the final scene, the "You're Perfect" scene. I have to keep watching it til it stops making me tear up.
My mushoku tensei HERO!
YES, SIR!
My greatest gripe about people ignoring Mushoku just cuz of Rudy is that those very same people are also people who probably forgive characters that are:
- Serial killers (killing innocent people *on purpose* )
- Committed literal warcrimes
- Psychologically manipulate people in the worst way possible
- An actual psychopath but its fine cuz they were cute/handsome
- NTR is fine if they were hot
its simple. he's a pedo and thats it. that doesn't mean i forgive characters that are serial killers in an anime or a character that commits literal warcrimes (eren) though he was justified in doing it, not that it makes it right for him to kill innocent people but he was still justified in doing it. no i dont forgive or like characters that are manipulative lmao what are you talking about. and yes people don't care if a character is an actual psychopath because it is unrealistic, an actual psychopath doesn't go around laughing and murdering people or whatever and ntr is shit scum i dont understand how people actually sit down and get turned on by ntr, there is nothing about ntr that makes sense and its fucking crazy how many people actually like ntr and get off to it
I'm not a person that typically watches reverse harem shows but I really loved The Saints Magic Power is Omnipotent.
It's my border for 7/10. Meaning if it's better, it's an 8
Eh, I wouldn't call it a reverse harem at all, at least not so far.
I watched this entire vod and this was nice
Im offended.
Full Dive RPG was such a good comedy anime.
I mean yeah the animation is bad but that kinda plays more into the comedy.
you are probably a masochist
@@aryanvashistha3865 maybe ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

stop apologizing or rationalizing with people who are not anime fans...they don't deserve our time
I love Meikyuu Black Company. A millionaire who starts from zero again in another world.
Im convince Garnt has Full Dive mixed up with Fruit of Evolution.
Tsukumichi moonlit fantasy is really good and season 2 is insanely better (because they had to rush season 1) but bro, this anime has so much potential I feel like it can easily surpass the slime anime
Garnt should definitely watch Iruma-Kun
That was one of the best Isekais of the year
@@shyguy5473 Yeah, Iruma-Kun is underrated
This was definitely the best year for Isekai anime.
Full dive doesn’t deserve E section it should be C
Everything else is great 👍
But that’s my take.
Thank you, I was scrolling through comments desperate to find one person defending Full Dive. It wasn't anything amazing, but I certainly wouldn't call it generic.
Drinking game suggestion
Chug everytime Garnt clears his throat or clicks his tongue
Understanding a lot of the meaning behind everything that's happening while completely clueless about what happens in Sonny Boy
Full dive was one of those "so trash it's actually fun" type of shows. I watched all of it, and as much as I regret it I'd do it again
Like 99 percent of isekai is about the op protag building a harem and ending the anime in 12 series

Mawaru Penguindrum
Tensei slime is the best for me. The only anime that made me read a light novel eventho Im not a reader. I love fantasy genre overall thats why I also love isekai manga/manwha. Her Summon is the most gorgeous isekai comic I ever seen.
As an avid Digimon fan, I can say all Digimon series are isekai. It is just a matter of time for them to get to the point.
Also, Ghost Game has been some of the most fun I've had with a Digimon series over the last decade and a half.
Is it worth the time? Is it as good as the og digimon adventure 1?
I've seen this but a bit hesitant to commit to watch it.
But not belong to "modern Isekai" club

FULL DIVE IS ACTUALLY DECENT in my OPINION
The show literally had consequences for the MC’s actions (It's “Mushoku Tensei at home”, with its character development).
Definitely a solid C, because of all its tropes weighing it down.
Gigguk talks so much about Mushoku Tensei and still doesn't realize that Season 2 isn't out yet
I think he means part 2 or episodes 13-24
@rick mel thats just not true. Attack on Titan also got Final Season Part 1 and 2 a year apart
@rick mel lmao that doesnt change that the next season of MT will be called Season 2 and not season 3. Why are you comparing it to a country?
@rick mel the definition of a season isnt as clear as the definition of a democratic republic. For me, what defines the seasons is just what its called. Theres no propaganda going on in the anime industry
Redo of Healer will forever be my favorite Isekai.
Holy water needed

Garnt: I want to make a video about isekai and fantasy cause I usually don’t get to talk about the shows.
Also Garnt: includes Arcane so he continue hyping up the show
Redo of Healer may be on H tier, but the ED is a banger

Eren may have had the right intentions, doesn't make his actions right tho
I came here for re zero , I got my re zero , anyways future seasons are gonna be sss tiers , especially season 4
I also like how every season ends on a cliffhanger , yes season 2 was also supposed to end on a cliffhanger but they left that part out
Kumoko was that one show where i found most of the characters annoying but still found enjoyable overall. Not even sure how that works. It did its job tho, it got me to read the LN which was a bit better.
Aoi Yuuki is how that works
I'm not sure how I did it myself. I thought that I would drop the show after the 3rd ep because of the cgi but I made it to 24 and wanting more. It also caused me to look into the lore and read ahead
A "bit" better? Are we reading the same LN lol? It's up there with Mushoku Tensei and Re:Zero (obv not quite as good but close)
I suppose the one saving grace of this show was the voice acting for sure as I found the CGI detracted a bit from the experience.
I feel personally attacked by Fruit of Evolution getting worse treatment than Fulldive. What the actual fuck.
