Grace is giving more thought and analysis to this movie than anybody at Sony ever did. 😅
The idea of them trying to protect an unborn Peter Parker is a million times more interesting than what we got
I thought that was the original plan for the film 🤦♀️
But in the comics. Peter. Real parents IS. Richard and May. NOT. Ben and May Parker. Ben and May is he’s aunt and uncle.
@@allen78331 Richard and "Mary" Parker. NOT May
That literally happened. Cassie/Madame Web sent Ben away with Mary, with Peter about to be born!
@@allen78331you're ignorant
I thought it was hilarious that they drank Pepsi in front of Cassandra while knowing what that Pepsi sign did to her 🤣
I guess Ezekiel Sims was secretly Pepsiman all along?
Well if this happened after she was blinded they probably thought she couldn't see them!😝
"Now back to her really lame powers." ROFL 🤣🤣🤣
Dakota Johnson seeming so uninterested in the press tour is a large reason I didnt feel confident in seeing this movie. When your own actress is openly admitting she is glad her film entry is a standalone because she doesnt want to follow the MCU films it can only mean the script isnt going to be great
Idk how true this is but I actually heard the reason Johnson was so disinterested was because Sony sold this movie to her as if it was apart of the MCU and Johnson was disappointed with what was presented after finding out that it had no MCU ties.
She doesn’t even know any of the Tom Holland movie titles. She’s doesn’t know anything about the MCU but for some reason thought she would be in it cause she tagged Marvel Studios on instagram when her casting was announced
@@Dallas-ng7nqI think it was her agent at fault
She didn’t even know basic Spider-Man facts. Like, what an incredible turnoff!!
@reannagordon tbh I wouldnt be surprised if her agent has approached Marvel before about a role for her and Feige wasn't interested.
So she took this in the hopes that she would be in the MCU
I still cant believe they released this movie in theaters. I thought they would just release it on a free streaming service like Tubi. 😂
Or on Quibi 😉
Or Netflix
@@mabusestestamentwhat's Quibi
@@cjgamer6356
The fact that you don’t know says it all… not about you, but about Quibi.
@@mabusestestament Ok but that doesn't answer my question
I didn’t notice all those inconsistencies, expect for one: Cassandra was being search by the police to the point she appears in newspapers, Ezequiel by that point saw her face multiple times… how did she get out of the usa and travel to Peru? Wouldn’t the police arrest her at the airport? I mean she was being accused of kidnapping and beating policemen 😂
Also this took place in 2003 when post 9/11 security was at its highest 😂
Kraven the Hunter, from the people who brought you madame web and Morbius, sure to leave you kraven for less.
I see what you did there
Thank you for a truthful review, I liked how the girls were missing, and 3 hours later a guy in a Truck Stop was reading it in a newspaper 😅
Its ironic that the ending of Loki S2 was a better Madame Web origin story than the actual Madame Web movie
I know right it was incredible. You can’t compare it he earn the ending he got for that series Madam Web didn’t earn it we just met her in this series
That’s exactly how I felt when I saw The Flash. Across the Spiderverse was a better Flash multiverse movie than The Flash….
No it wasn’t and Loki has 15 years history this is new sorry
I think you’re doing a better job of explaining the movie than the studio is!
Definitely. I didn't catch ANY of these Easter eggs
She knows her stuff!
Grace, as a Peruvian American. (Dual citizen!) Thank you for your words!!! Peru is a wonderful country and even with all its political shenanigans, the people are what makes it the stable and prosperous country it is.
My dad is Peruvian
So tell Columbia and Venezuela immigrants to go down south to Peru then please
I love llamas!
@@jonnyfendi2003Peru has accepted the largest amount of Columbian and Venezuelan immigrants. I can have this conversation with you if you wanted to try 😂
I have a big Australian black house spider in my bathroom. She's always in the same corner of the window, and despite being highly venomous, is too shy to ever pose a threat. I feed her with any flies that get into the house and she's gotten so big! I love her 😅
Ack! That's fascinating and kind of adorable, but be careful!
Lmfao the Pepsi ad was no joke especially the Mountain Dew in the beginning
After finding out this movie was supposed to be set in the 90s and centered on saving Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker before being born makes me sad because everything was here to make the film a modern multiverse camp kind of film with at least an interesting story at its center
It is set in 2003, not the 90s, during the pregnancy of Peter Parker, but not centred on that.
As a Guatemalan, I’m glad you pointed out how most of Hollywood movies depicts Latin America with that ridiculous filter.
The whiplash I’m getting from Madame Web reviews to Dune 2 early reviews is just hilarious 😂
It felt to me like someone wrote a script about a paramedic who’s trying to save the lives of 3 teenagers whom someone wants to kill, and then someone at Sony looked at the script and decided let’s take this and make it about Madam Web. It’s like those movies you sometimes see where it was going to be an original script and then someone at the last minute decides to make it part of a franchise. It's just insulting.
I've gotten that feeling before. Like someone wants to make a movie, but can't get the backing. So somehow they get tasked to make a movie based on something else, but then they change it to make it the movie they wanted to make.
It was a weird way of introducing the Spider Society to the point where Grace was staring at them while swearing they aren't in the comics.
And now think about it that FOUR damn human beings were writing this movie lol
Love all the shade in this review, hope you're feeling better Grace
That's not shade. She's just telling the truth.
Your example of a sister playing with her brother’s toys is spot on 😂
This film felt like those early 90's superheroes script, and I think that would work better as a slasher horror flick. Gave them the powers and let Ezekiel kill them one by one until is the turn of madam web. Then Cassandra fight Ezekiel and think that she killed him, but get blinded with a new life mission to protect the web of life and it spiders. Post credit scene Ezekiel resurrect becoming Solus the first inheritors.
Love this idea! It would at least make sense why this movie was made because at this point i dont see any reason to continue.
I honestly don't like the idea of a Madame Web horror movie
It was so bad we walked out halfway
RE the baby shower scene. Mary welcomes Cassie by saying something like “oh yeah you’re Ben’s partner”. So it seems no one knew her prior to that day. But also, was Ben the one who invited her to his sister-in-law’s baby shower??
Susan (O'Neil's romantic partner) knew Cassie already, as did all the other FDNY staff at the BBQ. It was just Mary and her friends that didn't.
Catwoman is hard to rewatch but watching Halle Berry personally accept her Razzie is essential viewing
I think it was Sandra Bullock who said she tried to take her Razzie home with her, but they told her she couldn't because there's only one that they keep reusing!
Thank you, Grace! I don’t understand why all of these female led superhero movies are doing harm to and for women in a genre that needs quality projects. Quantity at this point does nothing to further diverse superhero films and tv.
I just saw it 2 hours ago and I couldn't believe how bad it was
As a Tubi Original, I'd give it 2/5 stars.
The fast travel to Peru was offensive
How
I'm genuinely surprised that Grace even botheres with a spoiler review for something as bad as this.
Real dedication to non-spoiler/spoiler review format
She knows people aren't going to watch the movie, but might watch her spoiler review.
Maybe Professor X sent her the techno chair to show support for his fellow physically challenged psychic mutant😉
Or there's a big discount for psychic vigilantes at the StarkTech Superstore.😁
I just found your videos and am loving them! They're so fun to watch!
I was hoping this would be uploaded so I could hear all about it without paying to see it lol
Imagine Peter Parker taking so long to discover he has certain powers after the spider bite that the credits roll.
Please Sony, just make a Spider-women movie
Why, who cares about a gender swapped Spider-Man flick. It would bomb
@@conroc01I don't think the issue are the characters but the subpar stories being done with them
Please Sony, just _stop_ making Spider-related movies.
@@conroc01Spider-Woman isn't a genderbend version of Peter Parker she's her own character
@@conroc01I’m begging you to open a comic before you open your mouth
Thanks for the review Grace ❤
For some reason, I actually want to see this movie because you keep describing how bad it is and it makes me want to see the badness myself
That whole baby shower scene was such a waste of time and talent. The joke about Ben not getting shot at in queens was F-'d up.
Oh dear! So as movies go this is the equivalent of a nice paper cut with some lemon juice sprinkled on it. Somewhere in London Tom Holland is saying, ‘I’m only coming back If it’s in the MCU’.
I can’t wait for the pitch meeting 😂
Grace, she didn't know about the factory at the end from before, she knew about it, from seeing it in the future, she remembered the future, which is neat
Who would have guessed that Madame Web would be the movie that unites a fans.
We had tickets to see this tomorrow and I tried to stay as spoiler free as possible, but there is such a barrage of bad reviews that I’ve completely lost interest. Granted, I figured it would be bad, but I didn’t quite foresee just how bad it is. I exchanged our tickets for Dune 2 in March 🤷🏻♂️
my friend, I respect everyone's opinion but I would be doing you a disservice by not warning you that once you watch the movie it's non refundable!!!
That they wasted Anya Corazón is so sad, she has a great origin story and connections in the comics 😔
How can you spoil something that’s already rotten?? 😅
Remember when there was just 1 Spider-Man? Now there are like a million Spider-People. It's just not special and interesting if you have so many characters that are just like Spider-Man.
"Anyone can wear the mask." -Miles Morales.
But these masks are terrible, like going to a costume party, they don't protect their identities!
@@sandal_thong8631 Well, it's form over function at this point. The mask was originally functional, but with more and more Spider-People, eventually they become just fashion statements. This is kind of what I meant. It's like a photocopy of a photocopy, etc. The more they copy and replicate Spider-Man, the worst it all gets.
Welcome to the reboot known as the Spider Society. Even Grace didn't recognize the Spider Society which is a massive part of the lore reboot. Kraven is part of the reboot and that is coming out in August.
@@orlock20Wait Madame Web was the start of a reboot
I'm surprised it took you that long to realize it was a Pepsi ad. During the cookout toward the start of the movie the Pepsi cans were practically GLOWING.
I could have sworn they were CGI'd because Dakota's can was too vivid in color to be real lol
@@AldoAraujo85 EXACTLY! It was so distracting!
I watched the trailers for this movie here and thought it looked like a completely dud. Something on Tubi or SciFi channel.
Why is Sony having such a hard time making good Marvel movies disconnected from the MCU?!?
*cuts to Peru*
Thanks for sharing Grace. 😊🍿🎥🤩💥
Yes, the costumes should have come into play much earlier 😕
I thought maybe the Pepsi sign scene was a nod to the Silvercup neon sign scene in Highlander.
The movie was so bad it was hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing the whole time. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
So does that mean Peter Parker culturally appropriated a foreign culture?😂
Women who read and love comics, thumbs up! ♥
Hi Grace! I'm just curious and wanted to hear your opinion. Who would you chose to write/direct a female lead super hero movie?
"Ship this baby back to America!" 🤣🤣🤣
Grace explaining why these movies and shows (that being projects driven more often than not by women and men who have no love for the source material) don’t work as if it’s a brand new realization AND NOT exactly the thing so many people have been saying for years is pretty wild.
This felt like an extended TV special.
Only went to see this to kill time while my car was in service.
Think I would've had more fun watching my car sitting at the shop getting its routine maintenance.
I thinks it's REALLY obvious from the Sony email hack revelations that Amy Pascal doesn't have a bloody clue what she's doing.
Hey Grace, in the TV show Legion they did quite a bit of projections
8:44 "Ice-cream headache," I love it! I've been referring to that term in Christopher Walken's SNL skit forever, just using it yesterday to someone! People keep correcting me, saying "Do you mean a brain-freeze?"
This feels like they avoided spoilers by making absolutely no one care about any of the plot
7:10 exactly!! you can say this is what happened with echo too
Echo is much better than this !It got much better reviews and reception !LOL
Awesome spoiler review of my favorite Marvel movie!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
we went to see this movie expecting the worst but ended up actually enjoying it for what it is.
Not all comics need to be movies. The concept of Madame Web is silly. This movie had an up hill battle.
i kinda need a sequel, just for the fun of it all
How about a spin off instead
Just in time grace I just saw the movie 🤩.....and idc if it's alone here...I am dying on this hill....madam webb is a great movie
HEY THATS WHAT MAKE CINEMA GREAT…
I’ve seen people say they like it. There’s something at the movies for everyone 🙂
@@DueceSpiceI went to the first show too....I guess since grace said it's garbage my expectation was low...so that helped.. though audiance was low they all enjoyed it
@@madhavkumar3821yeah. Sure, buddy. Everyone loved it. Right
Yeah that's what I'm talking about it is a great movie
7:09-7:40 "But lately, a lot of these movies that are female-centric seem like as if someone's sister (who usually doesn't play with these characters) got ahold of them, and then warped them into their own ideas of how THEY like to play. And I think that happens because they're hiring people to tell these stories who might be a match with the gender or demographic that's being depicted, but have no...not only any EXPERIENCE with the source material, but no AFFINITY or INTEREST in it. And that's why you get the result that you do." - Grace Randolph, 2024 👏👍🙏
I love watching Catwoman. ❤❤
Grace, genuinely curious here. I loved the JRJr Spiderman comics run that Ezekiel was in. Were those part of your reading and what did you think of so?
Grace, is this one of your first 1080p videos?? I swear, everytime I watch your videos, it only ever goes up to 720, but the quality looks so much better here!!!
Always cracks me up when G-Rand has to review a trash movie twice for her Spoiler review section. I know it's to monetize her videos but it's still funny that she does this. Here's my*Spoiler* review of Madame Web: It Sucks yo!
Have a great day
I’m still processing this movie love a grace review
Not watching this movie for obvious reasons but they Twitter discourse, the movie clips and memes surrounding are HILARIOUSSS 😂😂😂 like I'm actually crying laughing.
I haven’t watched it but I’m watching this spoiler review anyways lol
Me too
grace is sharp as a tack! I love your passion and point of view.
I’ve never been more excited for a spoiler review
I don’t get why Ezekiel needed a costume
I feel so sorry for Dakota Johnson...
i like how the movie shows how scary it is to ride the subway alone at night when some rando dude with an mobius mustache starts stalking you.
Conclusion every female comic movie are based on great female characters created by men and beloved by everyone, and then ruined by female directors and hated by everyone...
I’ll catch it on Disney plus in March.
It's not a Disney/Marvel Studios movie. It's Sony.
I walked out of theater thinking that Madame Web was like a Lifetime movie.
Does anyone know when it's the next Q&A for subscribers??
About the psychic abilities, the movie Hearts in Atlantis is a perfect example, especially when they talk about "remote viewing" and projecting Astral selves. 😊
I love you bring up Halle Berrys Catwoman having a fan base now and it becoming a camp classic
This is the funniest review about this movie I have seen jet😂😂😂 so many questions
When Cassie said she was going to Peru, I thought they were gonna bring at least Anya Corazon with her since the actress is Peruvian AND the fact that the spider people were literally called "Las Arañas" which is literally Anya's superhero name. She could have had a bigger role in the movie like it was such a missed opportunity.
Even if the actress is Peruvian, Anya's heritage is from her Puerto-Rican dad, ultimately she's from the US.
As a Colombian, I'd be so disgusted at that change, as if our countries were interchangeable just for the sake of it.
Having said that, I agree with your overall idea, the actual origin of Araña is pretty cool! And adapting the Spider Society would have been better than this whole mess, so sad Sony wasted the character.
@@david88esteban wait if her dad is puerto rican... how did he get dep0rted? Sorry spoiler but in the movie Anya says her dad got deported but Puerto Rico is a US territory... unless they changed that too.
Yup. I officially never want to see this movie lol. Still haven’t watched morbius. Wish I didn’t see Venom 2. Wast of time & money.
I enjoyed it. It didn’t bother me but I’m also not super tied to the source material. I’m an X-men fan so everything else is just fodder.
Youre Also not súper tied to taste.
@@hecrosegreat3943Hey you don't need to do that let him enjoy the movie
Grace, I’ve been a huge fan of your channel since 2015 and this is by far my favorite of your reviews. So damn funny! Up there with RDJ’s Doolittle for me 😂
I needed one of 2 things from this movie to get me into the theater: Grace and some of the other critics to praise this movie( not just a decent thumbs up, a resounding endorsement) or a solid confirmation of being connected to one of the established Spider-man with a cameo.
Sony has been running these properties into the ground and proving they can’t hack it without being propped up by Marvel and the MCU. Even Into the Spiderverse has the ability to make theses connections worth the investment from fans, Venom has been doing ok because of its promise to deliver a connection, but the returns are diminishing without that delivery.
I really wish there was a clause for these failures that returned the property to marvel in the face of running the IP into the ground.
This short coming with Madam Web has me giving a hard pass on anymore Sony Spiderverse stories that don’t center around a Spider-Man lead.
It’s time for Sony to reevaluate who is in charge of these films and how they are going forward.
I thought DC was a mess, Sony really said hold my beer…
What a lost opportunity… smh
2002 : yay.. Spiderman..
2024 : it's Ma'am..
The camera work with the shifting zoom lens during the opening scene where Ezekiel kills everyone in Peru felt like something from a mockumentary.
The duo of Sazama and Sharpless have written: Morbius, Gods of Egypt, Dracula Untold, Power Rangers. How do they have careers? WTF!?
Pepsi gave up the halftime show for this 😂
Wait, Mike Epps, the only Black male character dies? That seems like a trope.
The CPR teaching sequence had me cackling.
Hopefully, this movie will go largely ignored and forgotten, and thus Feige will be able to cast Sydney Sweeny as Emma Frost, the role she's BORN to play.
No, she is the perfect cast for BLACK CAT !!!!
Love this review. One day we should get the rated R version of this review of this from Grace. Lmfao😂 “what the hell are spider people!?” Sony please stop making these movies! What other properties do you have?
Someone coined the phrase, "Spider-Manless movies."
I would never watch this movie but I’ll watch Grace’s spoiler review 😂. Love you Grace
