The lines "we have unfinished business" and "attack me with everything you have" are ripped straight from Kill Bill. Only difference is that the Acolyte did nothing to build up a story behind those lines to give them any weight at all.
The Acolyte is an abomination of bad writing, bad acting, bad directing. A woke “message” infused nightmare that completely destroys the star wars lore. Good job Disney.

Pretty sure we can fix it a number of ways. - "We do not draw our blades unless we have to use them" - "Violence is not our first choice" - "Do you draw your blaster on everyone you meet?"
Multiple scenes in SW history that completely undermine a statement like "a Jedi never draws their lightsaber unless they intend to kill" - Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan using their LS to melt through a door, many different Jedi using LS to simply deflect incoming blaster shots, the aforementioned Mos Eisley cantina scene with Obi-wan, etc, etc. Again we see that Disney Star Wars creatives are not actual fans of what has come before, they're just making up their own rules and history.
Well its not even followed in this show is it? To me it looked like Mae is calling the Jedi out for being a hypocrite and not following the rules and values of her order. Rules and values that the jedi in this older order seem to be forgetting anyway. And knowing that no Jedi in the trilogies follows this particular rule we can in my opinion assume that the rule has fallen completely in the 100 years that follows. This is the high republic era but we can already see the cracks forming in the values of the Jedi.
The writers seem to just randomly sprinkle in sentences that _sound_ deep and meaningful, but aren't really connected to the plot. Gives me flashbacks to Rings of Power's "The Sea is always right" nonsense.
Characters taking a lightsaber through their chest but dying from a small blade when it's convenient for the plot is such a videogame cutscene type stuff
There's a shark movie, Deep Blue Sea. At the time it came out in 1992, Samuel L. Jackson was the only big name actor in the movie. LL Cool Jay was still mainly known for music and hadn't done much (if any acting before that). Others, like Thomas Jane, would become famous later. For the first half of the movie, Jackson looks like the lead. He's the highest ranking guy in the company, he's leading the group in trying to escape. He even gives a big inspirational speech. Then a shark jumps out of the water and eats him. That's how you trick an audience with a big name actor who is a decoy protagonist.
In some repspects, the first Alien movie does a variation of this as well. John Hurt was the only big name Actor in the film... and gets promptly killed off within the first half-hour of it. It can be done well, but not by these modern writers unfortunately.
The storyline seems like a self-help where her life is inserted into the Star Wars universe. A young woman works for an evil, powerful man and sacrifices virgins, but there is also a good version of her, which isn't evil.
Poor Theory, man. I really feel for the dude. Star Wars has been his bread and butter forever. Seeing it spiral down the shitter this far and still needing to make a living off of it has got to be rough. It's painful enough for all of us as regular fans. Man looks so defeated. The treatment of this world is unfortunate for us all. I pray that some day these things get rectified. One can hope, but I'm past the point of holding my breath. I'm glad though he is beginning to acknowledge the quite glaring faults of these shows and their writers. Cheers to everyone on the panel. Keep it up. You're all doing great work sticking up for the franchise and us fans.
I think the real reason the fire is so absurd is because it's right next to a bunch of people who still need suits to survive in space because there's NO OXYGEN
It needs an oxidizer - not necessarily oxygen. The bigger mistake is the campfire type flames - flames in space(with any oxidizer) act differently. But yes, it was a hopeless mess amongst many others.
Just like IRL, they're retconning Space. Most people don't keep up with that, but the new, official Canon of space is that: - Earth's atmosphere extends beyond the moon! - Space isn't REALLY a total vacuum! - Space isn't REALLY mostly empty There's other retconned stuff I can't recall right now.
He's a terrific guy but he needs to turn away from any terrible storytelling it's just like with the clone wars I only recognize the multimedia project we have to stick to the original Canon the expanded universe and then when we get into that there are specific stories from that we have to stick to The gatekeepers alliance nia really does like the expanded universe Legends is a Disney term before that it was never used that's the reason why I only use expanded universe but I would like to see him do a fan film of the Darth Vader trilogy or an Old Republic TV series
9:26 The line, "A Jedi never draws his lightsaber unless he is willing to kill," reminds me of a line i heard from my Dad. I had pointed a BB gun at my brother and my Dad said I was never to do that with any gun that can kill. That I should never draw a gun on anyone unless I was willing to kill them. Unless I was willing to take that life and the responsibility that entails. That was a long winded story just to say; That Jedi master was stupid to let an ASSASSIN dictate the morality of taking a murder's life.

I don't think he belongs. Not because I don't like him or anything like that. I just think he still didn't reach the level of detachment from the franchise, that is needed to be a part of the open bar. He obviously still cares and I it doesn't look like he enjoys how the others on the panel mock the shit (rightfully) of the show, or hate on Filoni (rightfully), etc.
How the Jedi investigation would actually go down if the characters are not dumb: Black Jedi guy Force Mind Reads the Trade Federation ship captain. Black Jedi guy: "Oh, I see that you have memories of our suspect being on your ship at the time of the murder. Welp, she has an alibi. Onto the next suspect, Padawan!" And the rest of the show doesn't happen.

The wildest thing about all of this is that Disney purchased SW and Marvel to be their boy brands to balance with their girls' brand, aka, the Disney princesses. They then went and tried to turn it into another girls brand. These people aren't very smart when it comes to business. Also, Disney needs some serious competition.
They can't help themselves. They _have_ to market _everything_ towards a specific female demographic that either doesn't exist, doesn't particularly care, or was already part of the established fanbase they keep pissing off.
I mean most of the key players in Disney’s Star Wars seem to be people who’ve experienced little outside of their campus. They also admit to not caring for the source material all that much. How can you expect them to create exotic settings if all they know are cafes, bars and dorm rooms?
Someone else said it in a different video but it’s not the modern audience that exists now, it’s the modern audience they want to create by turning everything into shit
5:45 You know, a series featuring Jar Jar Binks as an occult Sith master and the power behind Palpatine's throne, using his "drunken master" techniques to disguise himself and fool literally everybody, even to the point of breaking the Rule of Two... that would actually rescue this shitshow, it's gotten so bad.
The whole thing about how laxly that they are with a suspected Jedi master killer, even Darth Vader wanted to freeze Luke to make sure he made it back with him.
Just think of all the potential Star Wars stuff they could of brought to life with this budget if there egos weren't in the way. The Darth Bane trilogy, the Palpatine book, Revans stories, the actual Thrawn trilogy instead of the side character we got, hell the Yuuzhan Vong war on the big screen would of been amazing, but nope. We get this, nice one Disney.
What I would love to see one day that I don’t think has ever been done is have a twin story with each one affiliated with opposite sides that are never onscreen together - and at the end it turns out that one twin has been dead for years and really it was just one of them manipulating both sides for their own end. That would be a huge twist on the normally expected format.
@@bart2873 True, although Niles is a classic unreliable narrator - he _claims_ that his evil deeds were done by the ghost of his brother, but he might be lying. But I agree that making it unambiguous that the "good" twin was really evil all along would be dramatically effective.

The lines "we have unfinished business" and "attack me with everything you have" are ripped straight from Kill Bill. Only difference is that the Acolyte did nothing to build up a story behind those lines to give them any weight at all.

Sounds about right. Not to mention stealing from "Scream" with the star death in the opening.
My brain was itching trying to remember why this pacing seemed so familiar
Don't forget the lines and fight scene "stolen" from Kill Bill 😂
The entire series seems to be a case study for creative bankruptcy and plagiarism

Am I the only one who see's clearly the irony in all this?! Why not go Ekkkk..the Acolyle blows.....and move on and make a 30 minute video about something worth discussing and bringing attention to?
Maybe it’s time for us to cancel our Disney+ subscriptions.
I Watched 5 minutes and turned that shit off
@@carson21211 'being played by both sides' That's a strange logic. I watch this panel to laugh at disney plus. They replace thousands of viewers who might otherwise subscribe to Disney plus (some at least). Disney isn't getting money from me, and I don't mind suffering an ad or two to laugh at them from a distance, so I'm not 'being played by either side'. If I'm entertained, I'm literally not being played, what don't you get? Do you think I'd not spend that time on some other source of entertainment? It really sounds like you're on Disney's side and just trying to sow dissent among their perceived enemies.

Jedi only draw their blades when they intend to kill - sounds like a lie told by a cult leader to make their followers hate the authority.
Pretty sure we can fix it a number of ways.
- "We do not draw our blades unless we have to use them"
- "Violence is not our first choice"
- "Do you draw your blaster on everyone you meet?"
I'm pretty sure that was a rule by the warrior class of Narn in the Babylon 5 TV series.
It is also reminiscent of the knives made of sand worm fangs in the dune novels.

Well, if it seems to be a little too much, you can take a break and watch MauLers' 13-hour EFAP takedown of the show.
The IP should be called Star Wars and the Phantom audience.
You win internet today.
Rewriting history, the greatest pretenders.
Hey it's a prequel prequel, so they ditched a stupid rule over time? Oh God, now I'm helping them out.
Carrie Anne Moss is only dead until they say "Somehow, Trinity survived..."
Bet you a diddle dang joe to a damned if I know that she'll turn out to be Smilo Ren. 😏
Or appear in flashbacks.
Ever see Hitchcock’s Psycho? This plot idea was done back in 1960.
saw that in theater, the movie turned on that scene and i really started to enjoy it, its hard to describe
Don’t forget the hit song, “My hat is like a shark’s fin” that LL cranked out to accompany it
In some repspects, the first Alien movie does a variation of this as well.

The treatment of this world is unfortunate for us all. I pray that some day these things get rectified. One can hope, but I'm past the point of holding my breath. I'm glad though he is beginning to acknowledge the quite glaring faults of these shows and their writers. Cheers to everyone on the panel. Keep it up. I think the real reason the fire is so absurd is because it's right next to a bunch of people who still need suits to survive in space because there's NO OXYGEN
😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
It needs an oxidizer - not necessarily oxygen. The bigger mistake is the campfire type flames - flames in space(with any oxidizer) act differently. But yes, it was a hopeless mess amongst many others.
Just like IRL, they're retconning Space. Most people don't keep up with that, but the new, official Canon of space is that:
- Earth's atmosphere extends beyond the moon!
- Space isn't REALLY a total vacuum!
- Space isn't REALLY mostly empty
There's other retconned stuff I can't recall right now.

The line, "A Jedi never draws his lightsaber unless he is willing to kill," reminds me of a line i heard from my Dad.

I mean most of the key players in Disney’s Star Wars seem to be people who’ve experienced little outside of their campus. They also admit to not caring for the source material all that much. How can you expect them to create exotic settings if all they know are cafes, bars and dorm rooms?
Where’s that modern audience I keep hearing about? Still not watching things
