I almost walked out of _Origin_ since the first half-hour was so mind-numbingly bad. I was alone in the theater so decided to look up something on my phone until it got to something that appealed to me from the trailer. And the ending was pretty good.

Yup. And when they have Disney Marvel made Spider-man films they act as if THEY made them. Its like a school project where you write the one persons name down cause they were there but did none of the work
That's a very unwise attitude for Sony's management to have; have they not noticed how the decline of quality in the MCU has turned off the fans?
@@ShayneRawlsbut they did make them … it’s their IP, their rights, so it is there’s. Marvel didn’t just take the rights away & make these movies without their permission. That’s like if I was Stanley Kubrick & made The Shinning & said “well that’s my movie, not Warner bros.” … no, Warner bros. Produced & distributed it… therefore it’s their IP & their movie just as much as Hanna Barbara’s animated stuff are, like Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo & so on. If it’s from your company, then it become’s that company’s possessions. So sony did make those, they may have worked with marvel studios/Disney but they still did make those, making it theirs.

To be fair, nobody asked for an origin story of Madame Web. Like NOBODY.
Sony did. They thought it would be a great idea, just like Morbius and El Muerto.
It doesn't matter who asks. Most movies are not asked for.
Madame Web is just plain bad
It isn't. It's the origin of the Spiderverse. Kraven is the second movie of this soap opera which I believe will have four movies. I didn't even know this story arc existed until Madame Webb was announced, but it's a long arc.
Even if they did, it wouldn't be this.

@@jayjinx2591 I was surprised to see women going to see _Aquaman 2,_ without guys. One lady said it was for "Mamoa's muscles." So right there, by having only women characters, they're not appealing to the female gaze.
Second, these make me wonder what real women would do with super powers? Maybe lay low and not call attention to themselves? It seems like they do best in a team-environment, helping the men. That sounds bad, but seems to be reality, if we're not going to make them appeal to the male gaze.

Work at a local theater in a small city, population 27,000. Opening night, first screening, 16 people, second screening, ZERO.
I think the most mind boggling part is that sony has such a clear path before them. DC is non existent at the moment, and the MCU needs to space out it's releases. This "Spider Verse" should be a clear win. Focus on movies of the spider people that people gravitated to in Miles' Spider Verse movies. No Kraven, no Morbius, no Madam Web solo movies. The blue print couldn't be any clearer if it tried.
Ditto on no solo movies for the back characters without Spider-Man (or a major Spider-Woman).
I just saw _Turning Red_ yesterday on its re-release (if it even got a release during the pandemic) and it featured an animated short at the beginning (same as _Migration)._ After reading your comment, I could imagine a 10-minute short of Spider-Man-Noir or Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham.

That's the most ridiculous thing, By not having a cinematic universe or a unique tone, they have the opportunity to make movies of different genres and styles with their Spider-Mans, but they don't do any of that. They should fire the producer of these movies.
The Sony movies are cash grabs there made on low budgets so even if they don't do gangbusters in theaters they still make a profit on them with streaming dvd and bluray sales.

Well.. now we know why in the spider-verse movies Madame Web wasn’t part of the story, the creators didn’t want anything to do with this movie.
Um, well _Beyond the Spider-Verse_ hasn't come out, yet, so knock on wood. Also, someone pointed out that Miles saying he'd like to see a "vampire good-guy" when Miguel was described to him, could be a reference to _Morbius._

Giving Spider-Man characters solo movies has always been a stupid idea.
I believe this is a four movie soap opera with Kraken being the second movie. This movie and the comics it was based on completely changes the Spiderverse.
It could work if they actually had good writers working on the scripts.

They (Sony) are co-owners of Spiderman and all his secundary characters. They could let pass 4-5 years and make a good movie without the rush and money-hungry attitudes, and still had the "rights" to use that world

Not surprised this is bad lmao! But Grace, Sydney is incredible in Euphoria, and Dakota was excellent in the Suspiria remake. They just seem to not be picking the right scripts 😭

This begs the question, why isn’t Sony making movies starring/ featuring spider people like spider woman, ghost spider, etc. that then could be merged with a Spider-Man movie in the future?
Like they have three spider people that could have a standalone movie focused on a c or d list villain but given some “the spot” treatment and make them interesting/ threatening. They have characters that are known/ compelling/ liked other than Peter Parker so make movies around them.

Grace doesn't like when people laugh at movies? What's more offensive then, people laughing at movies or the fact that the movie was in such a laughable state? People work hard on this? Sony is doing irreparable damage to the brands and the genre.
I'm considering that's their intent, destroying the brand (Spider-Man) when they have to give it back, given they lack the critical merchandise profit, and destroying the genre (superhero, and hurting rival companies) so they have an early start on the rising video game adaptations with PlayStation Studios and even snatching huge IPs like Zelda.
They really picked the worst people to write the script... The writers of Gods of Egypt, Dracula untold and Morbius... I was really shocked when I saw that those people still work in the industry haha

Grace, have to say that I usually go to see this comic movies either for commitment (MCU universe) to see what they come up without expecting much or to inquire how bad and ridiculous they are going to be. Few are the comic inspired movies that actually make me feel excited or manage the suspended disbelief of reality and make me immerse myself on the movie setting. What happened to you in Madam Web about sleeping happened to me in Morbious, so I'm quite curious about how bad this is going to be 😅

I saw the trailer way back when & thought “oh oh”, not holding much hope for “Kraven” who I loved in the comics as a balanced villain against spider-man.
Very unfortunate that all the recent superhero movies have been trash. Ruining it for everyone.

This makes me sad to hear. And part of the reason why I want to support this film is because I know that if this bombs in theaters, studios are going to use this as an excuse to not deliver superhero movies with Women in the lead. And that's what's heartbreaking

I think we didn’t watch the same movie because I’ve just come from the cinema and everyone there LOVED it. I went thinking that it was going to be a bad movie because of the low Critic score on Rotten Tomatoes but it wasn’t the case. The story was great, the acting was great. I can say I enjoyed it much more than any of the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. I’m glad it keeps rising on the audience score.

Johnson really needs to stop being in bad movies released on Valentine's Day, between this and the 50 Shades movies it's killing her career. I wish Sony would just give fans what they really want, Spider-Man 4 with Tobey and everyone back, Amazing Spider Man 3, and Venom vs Spider Man with Tom Hardy and Tom Holland.

From the moment i saw this was coming i knew it was bad but after seeing most of Dakota's interviews on late shows i end up liking her so i thought the heck i will go see it 😂, and now cant wait to see Dakota's comments on the movie after everyone says it's bad as it gets 🤣
