- This video will show you how you can counter each class in Team Fortress 2 as the Soldier.
This video took a while to make primarily because I'm lazy, and that there was quite a bit of rewrites for this.
Thank you to my friend Gimpy for helping out with the video and helping with the script.
This video is mostly targeted towards new players/players who don't really play Soldier often. If you feel like you need to disagree with me, that's fine.

Summary: shoot your rocket launcher

soldier: shoot 3 rockets at the floor
pyro: shoot 2 rockets at the floor, call them slurs in chat if they don't die
demoman: shoot 2 rockets at the floor
heavy: shoot 4 rockets at the floor
engineer: shoot 2 rockets at the floor and 2 rockets at the sentry
medic: shoot 2 rockets at the floor
sniper: shoot 2 rockets at the floor
spy: shoot 2 rockets at the floor

Step One: Equip the Liberty Launcher, no one expects the Liberty Launcher
During last halloween I did a LL and gunboats, became a flying menace to the other team.
If a pyro is using the phlog or back burner they either won’t or will almost never airblast
Thing with fighting against pyro, and this is coming from a pyro main, a *lot* of soldier players forget entirely that they do have a hitscan secondary and a significant amount of them also forget that they can use their brain to try and predict what the pyro will do.
Try to delay your shots if you insist on only ever using gunboats or black box + conch.
Otherwise, use that respawn time to equip a shotgun, you are able to swap weapons at a whim for a reason. And outside of fighting Pyro, shotguns are good for doing combos, you don't have to airshot everyone and their mother.
This is a really good well made video. But they're a few things you forgot to mention
1. If a pyro is really good at airblasting it is best you play defensively... Playing keep away with a close quarters class can sometimes help but the only problem is that you won't get to kill the pyro quickly as for the other options you suggested. And if that's the case..just use the shotgun 😂
2. For sticky spamming demos it really depends on what map you're playing and game mode. If it's control point dustbowl then yeah you're getting in a frag compilation. But if it's payload maps like upward then it wouldn't be much of a problem imo.
Lastly: engineer loves to protect their babies *take advantage of that* if a engineer even a competent one sees you attack they're babies they will come after you. Use that, tried to bait the engineer to fight you in a 1 on 1 or hell even a 2 on 1. after you kill those engineers their sentry's are free pickings.
Just wanted to point these things out, good video this will really help in the long run for newbs!
Some cool loadouts.
1. Roamer
Stock/Original, Gunboats, Escape Plan
Go on flanks and get smack the enemy Medic or take out other people and dip out of there.
2. Support
Stock/Original/Direct Hit, Concheror/Battalion's Backup/Buff Banner, Disciplinary Action
Stay close to your team and charge the banner and pop them when you make a push. You can also blow the banner bugles and hold M1 for it not go off. Release M1 for them to activate. Battalions can be really really good with the Direct Hit.
3. Crutch Box
Black Box, Concheror, Escape Plan
If your new or die very often and want to improve your aim, use this. Very useful for surviving.
4. Trolldier
Jumper/Airstrike, Mantreads/Gunboats, Market Gardener
For full Trolldier, use the Jumper and Mantreads for goofying around. But if you still want to be offensive in the game, use the Airstrike with the gunboats. Those give a rocket for like 15 HP and gives you additional ammo with more kills.
5. The Airstrike
Airstrike, Base Jumper, Market Gardener
Basically the same but you swap the gunboats for more hover time.
6. Diet Playstyle
Liberty Launcher, Buff Banner/Reserve Shooter, Market Gardener/Escape Plan
Use this if you want to do something different once in a while. This is not really that good because for the Liberty Launcher's -25% damage penalty but it's good for combo'ing.

A counter against pyro is corners. If you look like you’re running away and go around a corner, if the pyro is somewhat close to the corner, quickly go back round that corner and shoot a rocket then run away again. I’ve found that sometimes pyros don’t airblast it allowing you to deal some damage

As a pyro main, do not trust him, fire all your rockets in the most predictable way possible. We wont expect it and won't airblast. Trust me fire all your rockets at us :)
I agree, you should also aim the rockets directly at the pyro, not the floor :)

tbf most casual pyros don't, at least in my case and when they do air blast they tend to not air blast the other ones

I love fighting shotgun soldiers with the dragons fury. Feels like an actual fair fight. Any soldier that's good at the game always get my respect. Great vid.
Soldier doesnt have bad matchups (Besides Scout which is a skill matchup) and you don't need the shotgun to kill a pyro. You can just run straight into an average pyro before shooting and they will most likely panic and act erratically by which point you can be almost sure to damage him with rockets. If he's good at airblasting you can also hit him with the edge of splash rockets which are very hard to airblast. And to fight heavy you just use map geometry and dont fight him face to face.

For dealing with snipers, I equip beggar's. Being able to overload jump to basically initiate a rollout from damn near anywhere makes it nearly impossibl for competent snipers who have a lane on lock down. Because of the higher potential of mobility with this thing, it also majorly increases your possibility at different angles of approach.

- if you have great cooperate on your team and great offense
Use black box
-if you dont have medic on your team
Use discipline action
-if you have heavy on your team smack them and make them get back battle field

There’s always something that happens when I fight a heavy 1st thing : I die and he lives at 10 - 2 hp, 2nd : while i lower his hp I get ass fucked by half of the enemy appearing out of nowhere, 3rd thing : he has a medic up his ass, 4th thing : another heavy appears when I’m fighting the heavy. How do I fix any of these problems
Pick your fights carefully. 4 rockets can be enough to kill a heavy but its not guaranteed. A secondary that isn't the gunboats or a banner can help tremendously when fighting them.
As for fighting a heavy with a medic, what I found that can work sometimes is when you fire all your rockets at him and get in his face with a shotgun (if you have one equipped). It can potentially kill him. If you do not have a shotgun equipped, don't bother trying.
I cant answer the rest because you would have almost no chance of making it out alive. Hoped this help to a certain extent.

Trash advice from this video. Scout don't fight him in the open. Even if he gets the first shot jump away and take the fight to a close area where you have the advantage. Kangaroo scouts who are highly skilled, take the shotgun and the liberty launcher. Soldier: when you encounter a soldier use your opponents first panic rocket to jump over him. You can land two rockets while you are in the air. When you hit a soldier with a direct hit get as close as possible to him, he is likely to shoot a rocket at you and die of self damage. If a doldier gets a hit on you and the soldier you are fighting is good at the game don't fight him jump away if possible, but do not stop looking at him as you retreat. Sniper attack them from the side. They have tunnel vision. If you jave the shotgun, shoot the fooker with. The shotgun first and then the rocket to guarantee he dies. If you shoot him with a rocket he will go flying into safety. It has nothing to do with skill valve made it that way because they love snipers. So, even though he is not crouching, he will go flying like garbage. Good sniper use this bs very well. Noobs don't surf and are easy to kill. Demo: do not be predictable with your movement his firing speed is faster than yours, so you can stand in front of him and trade you will lose before you can fire the second rocket. Do not rocket jump vs a good demo. You can do short rocket jumps to create space and have some high advantage. Heavy: if you encounter a heavy move either right or left then back and then right or left while firing. You only need 4 directs to win. However, if you have a wall to hide, you can fire then take cover
When you are chasing a heavy and he is has turn and he is now behind a wall keep your crosshair to the mid he is going to jump back to kill you. If you find a heavy in the open instantly jump away. Pyro... Shotgun is a plus. When you are fighting a pyro look at his character's hands when he changes to flare hit him with a rocket and stay away from flames as much as you can. Don't run or move forward in a straight line to minimize damage. Medic: like the sniper they go flying regardless where the rocket lands, so be ready to airshot and shoot. Stay away from a melee fight with the medic, sniper, demo these three characters are guaranteed to hit you with a no so random crit. Engineer: kill him first. Don't shoot the sentry. Hit the eng first. Spy: you should always check your back. If you catch a spy in the act he is dead. Soldier is an in and out class. You go in see what you can get and if you can't get it just get out. When you go in always have an exit plan. Try to avoid fall damage by landing on highg ground. If you get hit by anything immediately jump away fo not turn around to see what hit you. You must pick a direction and jump away. Chances are whatever hit you is too close for you to win. You will take splash and the second shot from the enemy plus you are slow. Soldier had 200 on paper, but the class health is a lie. Your hit ox is big, so you take a ton of damage from your enemies. You must aim correctl, increase reaction time, and learn how to rocket jump
