Thanks a lot for this very informative video! I am relatively new to DaVinci Resolve, now I know how to make a proper node tree for the Phantom LUTs (and basically any type of LUT with a Rec709 conversion). Also, the power grade is such a nice timesaver. Appreciate it!
Hello! Thanks for a very nice video. Why do you have a CST node at nr 6? I am trying to learn this. I understand everything in the video. But don't understand why you have a CST before the Phantom (correction) LUT. Doesn't that LUT correct your Sony Log footage to Rec709? Please answer me this. Again. Thanks for a very helpful tutorial. Really like your node three.
Hey man, just wanted to say your videos are great and I’m thoroughly enjoying them. I’m a bit of a UA-cam fiend and your production quality / content is really up there with the best of them. Look forward to more!
Thanks bro I’m new to videography and I’ve been looking for luts to match dark skin tones. I just supported your work by buying the pack. Keep up the good work.
By far, the best content, love it! In your CST node what are the settings used? I'm making my way from s-cinetone to slog3. Would truly appreciate a little direction. Going to watch your slog exposure video now!
@@KofiYeboah I am currently applying CST and then Phantom LUT, the image gets destroyed (colors oversaturated and contrast way too high). You. mean we are supposed not to use CST? I'm new to video editing.
Thanks for this but you should definitely start the tutorial with showing how to set up the Color Management in the project settings. What Color Science do you choose? (YRGB or Color Managed?), what timeline color space and what Output color space (I assume rec709).. It took me also to read the comments to get that your CST node was not active in this example... Thanks man. (A fellow AOD member here)
IMPORTANT:Hmmm, users have an issue with color shifting on macOS after rendering, so I do not think that Rec.709 is a good option. The best way to use Phantom LUTs is to check: Use Mac display color profiles for viewers and in project settings change Timeline color space and Output color space to Rec.709-A? This is what colorists from Davinci Resolve said. Without this your render file will have color shift issue- less saturated and brighter than in Resolve view. Of course you should spend more time to color your footage, it’s not the same in Final Cut for example where you put the LUT and everything is done, except small exposure changes. Keep it in mind guys🙌
Great video overall, but I wish you would have gone into more detail about how to color grade the skin tones @ 3:18. You mentioned that it looks good out of the box so you didn't show us those skin tone adjustments for us but it would have been helpful to find another example for us to see how you edit them. Thanks for the tutorial on the other things within the video though! Very helpful for the most part.
Thank you so much for the vid! Curious about your use of the CST -- what settings are you using there? Input SLog3 of course... and output also SLog3 in order to place the LUT on?
So for non-log luts , I use output to rec.709/gamma2.4 and put on a creative lut, for log luts I’ll turn the node off and just use the lut on its own ! Hope that helps
Great tips Kofi 👏 I think I must train with my DavinciRessolve 18 and my phantom luts a little bit 🙈 how do you get the phantom luts in DavinciRessolve? Thanks bro 🙏

Usually the slog 3/s gamut3.Cine to rec.709/gamma2.4 for creative luts, and it’s off when it’s log luts like phantom

Can one use the LUTs on S-Log 2 footage?
We have X2 A73 cameras ?
I guess but I haven’t tried tbh
YES YES YES... What color space do you select in DVR? Do you go with Rec 709 or SLOG3/SCine?
In my settings I go DWG, and cst I I put my Sony stuff and output rec709/gamma 2.4

right on man
Thanks !
Thanks for this Kofi. Can you explain why or how you are using the CST node? Thanks
Sorry in thy is exampled there’s no changes you can do this grade without it given the type of luts being used
Can Phantom LUT works with non-log footages such as s-cinetone ???
Unfortunately no
Awsomeness!!
Great content man, keep it up

Would you share what you have in the CST just before the LUT?
In this example it’s not needed!

What settings do you put in for color space transform?
Your intake from your camera and then output at rec.709/gamma 2.4
Can phantom luts be used in Final Cut?
Of course!
@@KofiYeboah Thanks! everyone ive seen talk about these luts have only been using davinci.
You had a CST node- did you do anything there- or was that all handled by the Phantom LUT?
The phantom lut , when you use lute that convert to rec.709 if you cst to rec.709 on top we’ll have a bad time 😅
why do you have cst node here? isn't phantom luts conversion luts anyway? what is CST node doing in this example
It’s a deactivated node , there parallel so if you’re working with a log lut it’s off , and a linear one it’s on
