Absolutely amazing! I have been a Director / D.P. for 25 years and I would have to say that these LUTS are one of the largest game changers Ive seen in my career. I have literally shot millions of feet of film, and used every process imaginable like bleach bypass, etc... and these LUTS are a MUST if you want a filmic and cinematic look. I used to test film stocks for Kodak and Fuji before they would be released to the public, and these LUTS make me feel like I am back in those days!

I've been using Joel's LUTs since the G9 edition and right from the beginning I was blown away by how closely he's been able to replicate that beautiful Arri look...and with every update it gets even better. The time and effort he's put into these is immediately obvious on screen and I'm never disappointed by their performance under any lighting conditions. Just amazing!

So I've recently bought a Sony alpha 7 iv. Been away from photography or making videos for a while. For personal reasons. I'm coming from a Canon 5d mkiii which is a lovely camera and totally capable of creating some beautiful images, and a Canon g7x mkii, but I've been considering getting back into video/ cinematography and wanted to buy a camera that would give me a fighting chance of creating some good looking footage. I'm completely blown away with the camera and I'm learning it's functions slowly. So that's how I ended up here. Your luts look amazing so once I'm upto speed I'll definitely look to buying them. Just bough these for my bmpcc4k. Installed them on my SD so i can preview luts while out filming im stoked to learn his new camera! LOVE how these luts look, might ge the arri look pack next
That's really helping me get great results with my FS5/atomos recorder. Shooting in slog2sgamut2 in prores422. the arri luts help with getting great, deep, vibrant natural colors, and the film look luts help a lot getting a more artsy look, but very highend. well done man.
The Phantom LUTS are the only reason why i still stick to the Sony Fs7...They make all my stuff look So Much Better. And now these Film Stock Emulation. As said below: Sony should give you an award. Thank you, but really-for these great luts!!
The only Luts out there that make the Sony sensor and its color science usable again. I don't touch these cameras without Joel's LUTs. And on a BMPCC 4k/6k, the color is now really fantastic, very gradeable!
Hello, as owner of Sony a7iii I would like to ask you, if there are any recommended settings for this camera in order to make the most out of the luts (settings for color mode, saturation, detail etc.)? Thank you in advance!
Hey man thanks so much - no actually - just one stop is usually fine but sometimes its 0 stops - depends on the scene obviously. The LUTs themselves are intended to be monitored with on set for the easiest exposure workflow - you just load them up on a monitor and expose to the LUT and then in grading you don't have to spend ages fixing exposure as the LUT guided you to a nice exposure on set.
The Eterna LUT is BREATHTAKING!!! I used your arri luts on my sony cameras, and now I just bought these film luts for my BMPCC!! I'm loving your work:) Side note: I kinda really liked the look of the film stocks they used in Tenet, do you think you can emulate those at some point? Kodak Vision3(s), I think. Thank you a lot for the beautiful work!
Any chance for a LUT package for Nikon Z6 raw footage (either Blackmagic Raw or Pro Res Raw)? Or maybe even Pro Res 444 (Da Vinci Resolve on Windows only accepts Pro Res 444, not RAW or Blackmagic). I'm new to all this, but can I simply just purchase a LUT of yours intended for Sony for example, and use it for Z6 RAW video?
Love how the results look and bought myself a pack, just a quick question for Rec.709 profiles like Cine 4 etc. are these luts gonna work well on them or better not and just go Slog? Cheers!
i did some tests and i cannot use the format prores raw...too noise and burned lights. Otherwise, prores 422 and hq seems that works perfectly. Can you confirm that? edit. After followed some tips from Joel via dm, i solved the "issue": it's necessary to switch (i'm talking for Premiere Pro) from Bt2020 to Slog3. I don't know why Premiere does import in this settings but it's quite easy to switch in log. Thank's again Joel. Does never stop to learning.
I have both sets of these and am loving them. You mention that you add a little film grain to these. Do you have any advice on how best to add grain in conjunction with these LUTs please?
Hi Joel, thank you so much for offering these Luts. I'm about to buy them for the A7S 2 but I might get a A7S 3 oder EV-Z1 soon. Is there any possibility to upgrade to the package after buying it? Since I don't want to buy them just for different cameras.
The luts are absolutely amazing. I got them for the bmpcc 4k. To be sure, they are for blackmagic’s generation 4 colour science, right? Not generation 5?
FYI people...I just bought a pair of FX30 units. Went out and did some testing. Went to my church, recorded a choir. I used these luts, best I have bought. They gave my footage a professional yet artistic look. Joel has obviously put a lot of time into these. They came highly recommended and I was very pleased with the result.
Just bought the luts but im totally new to filmmaking. How does it work do i just pass the log 3 footage from my sony fs7 to davinci and simply apply the lut? Is that all or do i still need to adjust light exposure or anything else?
yes that is about it. you can adjust if want in resolve...but overall I like the look...the more important part is getting correctly exposed footage to work with...I am not sure about the fs7....but with the fs6, FX3, FX30...you do not have to over expose like on older cameras...0 to +3 is enough..daylight go 0...darker scene +3 and this should do it for you..@@katflorida8349
They look lovely, so I picked up the ’Legacy’ edition for my Sony a7iii today. Looking forward to trying them out in DaVinci Resolve. Do you have any instructions on how to apply them to Slog2 footage? Especially in terms of how to set up the node tree in Resolve (place it at the very end or do further adjustments on top of it?) Great work and finally someone who doesn’t merely do overly stylized LUT’s with crazy amounts of saturation and teal/orange overload :)
Great video! These LUTS are beautiful. Will they work equally as well with Sony NEX cameras? Is there any additional, or specific, tweaking necessary for the LUTS to produce a great image like yours?🎬
I wish I were able but a LUT can not do this. I often to add grain and bloom/halation to my own videos though yes - or I use the Schneider Hollywood Blackmagic Halation Filter.
Very interesting Luts, if I understood correctly these luts must be applied straight to the log footage, no log-rec.709 conversion needed first, right?
Hey now that the new Panasonic s5ii is out, are you going to make a new luts for it? The color science is different than the s5. Less magenta/red. I don’t think the current Panasonic lut you have will look the same. Care to drop some info on that?
Still my favourite luts years late. No other luts even come close. Just spend the money and get these. If you’re using a Sony, just overexpose .75 of a stop, lift the highlights, drop the shadows and don’t touch the mid tones. Leave saturation alone. End of story.

I own a A7Siii, would you recommend converting a slg3 footage with Sony rec 709 convert then your lut + minor CC? Sorry for the loaded questions, Thank You! I was told you’re a Film God 😅
Hi Joel! Purchased the pack this week and it's amazing, big thanks! So there is not film grain in these Luts, right? How you add the grain, do you have any recommandations?
thanks so much for sharing. I have a question for ya. should use Sony's slog2-rec709 firstly before applying your Luts ?or just directly apply to my slog2 footage ? your reply will be much appreciated.
Im looking at getting the lots but had a question. I currently use the sony a7iii with slog 2 and plan on upgrading to a newer sony camera in the near future. I noticed that you have a different category for the older and newer cameras. If I got the guts for the newer cameras would they still work fine on my a7iii? Thank you
Really amazing Luts.I use them with my sony a7iii and it just works fantastic.I really wish some day you make versions for other picture profiles like maybe HLG.
Hey Yavor, thanks for the kind words! The issue is if I made them for HLG, I'd have to compromise on quality. S Log gets you as close as possible but HLG would only be me taking a step backwards.
Thank you for your effort! Do you have any input on how to expose correctly for these luts using an FS7 and wheather S-log2 or S-log3 offer the best results. Thank you for your help!
This is extremely amazing! I have never been this impressed by a LUT. Question: when I buy your LUT and you make continuous updates on those LUTs. Do I also get the updated LUTs for free? Thank you!
Hi, Your LUT looks amazing, I don't know if I missing something, but do you need to use, any specific Picture Profile in the camera In my case A7sIII, A7III and A6600, to apply those LUT's, SLOG3 Perhaps? Thanks!
I was worried giving up amazing colors when I sold my S1 to go for A7SIII but this is making me so excited! Is there a specific LUT package for slog3 for A7Siii? They have a different color science than previous sony models
Joel Famularo thank you for your answer - so you essentially grade each clip and don’t use adjustment layers if i understood properly? Have a great day
Thanks for your work, I bought your LUTS and this update is so dope!! I only have one question, how do you set the WB in the different ambiences!? And again, THANKS A LOT!! You’re the best!! Something I have to say is that I own a sony a7sii
Michael Dominguez hey Michael thanks for the comment man! Yeah so I just eyeball WB. But in daylight i just use 5600 95% of the time. Indoors I’ll usually use something around 5000 kelvin and at night with tungsten lighting I like around 4300 so the tungsten still had a warm quality to it. Same with all my LUTs - film or Alexa.
Thanks! I will eventually but everything you've seen here is with Gen 4 and when I eventually do make it for the Gen 5, it will end up basically looking the exact same anyway haha or I've failed so don't sweat the gen 4 or gen 5 thing as the end result won't be any different after I've done my thing.
Hi Joel, I have some questions - what is the difference between the lut with a 'legacy' at the back vs the one without it? and also for the eastman lut, there are two versions, one with the RM and one without. What does it mean? Thank you very much
This basically takes out all the digital characteristics and gives it the analog ones. Im definitely buying these and perhaps the arri ones aswell. Quick question. I know the arri ones are for sony a7siii, but are these as well? Or do they need some changes? Basically should I wait for a new version of these LUTs or can I apply it to sony a7siii as they are? Also, what settings shoud I have my sony set at to have these be applied as perfect as possible?
Hi Marko - yes if you buy them for a specific camera then they’re calibrated specifically for that cameras sensor. No settings other than default settings. The LUTs do the rest :)
Hi, i purchased your Phantom luts for Bmpcc6k..i have a question that, should I use or are you recommending to use IR cut filter for my Bmpcc6k when using your Luts.?please kindly reply and help me.Thank you somuch for your wonderful creation and hardwork..i appreciate it. Hey Joel, sorry I’m late to the party lol, but I have a quick question. I currently shoot in S Log 3 on the A6600 and I’m very interested in purchasing your Lut pack, but I’m not sure which version to get for my camera. Will the newer version work with 8 bit cameras? Thanks I’m advance!
Hi Joel, I am a fuji xt3/4 user. I wanna purchase your luts, which one would more fit my cameras? Or does it even makes sense to get it for the fuji system? Thanks!
Just discovered your channel! Quality stuff brother, I am definitely going to pruchase some of your luts. Would you say they will work on any camera with log profile or are there some that you would not recommend using them with?
Thankyou! I've developed LUT Packs for specific camera profiles EG Sony, Canon, RED etc. Some are more multi-camera than others. Feel free to shoot me an email with your specific camera info and I can recommend a pack
I just bought the Arri + Film pack for BMPCC4K , I dont know if you created them to be used one over the other? Like use an ARRI Lut on Basic Correction and the FILM Luts on the cretive portion of premiere.

Hi Joel! Purchased the pack this week and it's amazing, big thanks! So there is not film grain in these Luts, right? How you add the grain, do you have any recommandations?
Hey man thanks for the kind words! I use filmconvert :)
thanks so much for sharing. I have a question for ya. should use Sony's slog2-rec709 firstly before applying your Luts ?or just directly apply to my slog2 footage ? your reply will be much appreciated.
You're welcome man! No the Film LUTs work standalone - you don't need to use a rec709 conversion LUT first. Each of my 10 LUTs work on their own.
Joel Famularo I understand. It’s just that with slog on a7iii you sometimes get this ugly artifact spots but I gies it is because of the 8bit.
Great! Can i install the luts inside my BMPCC4k to check while shooting and are they recommend to burn in for prores quick turnaround? :) Thanks
Thank you for your effort! Do you have any input on how to expose correctly for these luts using an FS7 and wheather S-log2 or S-log3 offer the best results. Thank you for your help!
amazing - iv'e got the fx3. does it work in PP? or davinci only? :) Thanks!
This is extremely amazing! I have never been this impressed by a LUT. Question: when I buy your LUT and you make continuous updates on those LUTs. Do I also get the updated LUTs for free? Thank you!
Thanks! Yes you do get updates for free
@@phantomluts thanks a lot Joel
hey man, i absolutley love your luts! can you tell me when the a7siii luts will arrive? can't wait :)
Hi,
Your LUT looks amazing, I don't know if I missing something, but do you need to use, any specific Picture Profile in the camera In my case A7sIII, A7III and A6600, to apply those LUT's, SLOG3 Perhaps?
Thanks!
Yep I would never use slog3 for the 8 bit cameras. it’s all in the readme :)
I was worried giving up amazing colors when I sold my S1 to go for A7SIII but this is making me so excited! Is there a specific LUT package for slog3 for A7Siii? They have a different color science than previous sony models
Hey thanks! Yes there are A7siii specific versions coming - I reckon 2 months away as I haven't received my camera yet unfortunately :(
I intend to purchase these Luts to use on , Sony A74, Nikon Z5, Nikon D780, Canon 90D, Panasonic Gh5s, Panasonic S1 and Panasonic S5.
Beautiful colors Joel! May I ask you what lens(es) used on fs7?
Thanks! All kinds and some of the fs7 footage wasn’t mine.
Love those ! On premier would you color correct on another adjustment layer underneath this?
Usually I correct on the 'Basic Adjustments' Layer and load the LUT in the 'Creative Layer'
Joel Famularo thank you for your answer - so you essentially grade each clip and don’t use adjustment layers if i understood properly? Have a great day
Hmmm yeah I usually use adjustment layers sorry - I might make a grading workflow video soon
Joel Famularo that’d be dope :)
Hi Joel, great work on this LUTs. Do you have any plan to make convert them for Canon R5 for example? cheers
Hi Markus - for Canon Clog 2 and 3 yes - for the new c300 which should work well with the R5 also and C70.
@@phantomluts Top and thank you. Let us know when it happens & I'm onboard for sure.
These looks are amazing, what would your settings be in the 6K pro to get the most out of them?
Default settings (BMD Film) - all discussed in the readme.
Joel Famularo oh thank you so much dude!! This comment is very helpful, keep on rocking 🤘🏻
Beautiful work. Since Blackmagic has a new gen 5 color science, will you be making a lut for it? I own the Pocket 6k
Thanks! I will eventually but everything you've seen here is with Gen 4 and when I eventually do make it for the Gen 5, it will end up basically looking the exact same anyway haha or I've failed so don't sweat the gen 4 or gen 5 thing as the end result won't be any different after I've done my thing.
@@phantomluts Ok cool. I just know that Gen 5 handles a few colors better, and is a little better with highlights
@@phantomluts By deafult you mean no picture profile as well? Or should I go for something like S-Log3?
Hi, i purchased your Phantom luts for Bmpcc6k..i have a question that, should I use or are you recommending to use IR cut filter for my Bmpcc6k when using your Luts.?please kindly reply and help me.Thank you somuch for your wonderful creation and hardwork..i appreciate it. I also purchased ur luts for my sony cameras..its Great
Yes - IR Cut filter is a good idea for BMD cameras.
Use the Fs7 LUTs and I advise you against Slog3 as it's only 8 bit. Slog2 + Sgamut3cine is better for 8 bit.
Hi Joel, I am a fuji xt3/4 user. I wanna purchase your luts, which one would more fit my cameras? Or does it even makes sense to get it for the fuji system? Thanks!
i have a sony a7iii. What package do you recommend me to buy? | SONY F55, FS7 / 5 & ALPHA SERIES (PRE-A7S-3) |or SONY A7S-3]?
Hey man the fs7 LUTs for the a73
Just discovered your channel!
@@phantomluts Thanks for your reply!, I thought all these luts were for the 4D, simulating the looks of other cameras?
I just bought the Arri + Film pack for BMPCC4K , I dont know if you created them to be used one over the other? Like use an ARRI Lut on Basic Correction and the FILM Luts on the cretive portion of premiere.
Great. No they’re each standalone. I use them in creative portion
@@phantomluts Thank you so much for your response! and dang these are super sick for my camera. Well worth the investment and Thank you for giving us this product to the public.
