The Jumper T-Lite costs about $70 and it has all the features that OpenTX brings to the table, as well as a 4-in-1 module that can bind to most popular receivers available today. So does that mean it should be your first radio? Actually, maybe. But obviously there are a few things you need to know before you swipe that credit card!

Haha I don’t wear a neck strap to balance the radio, I use it to keep my slow self from dropping it 😂
You all probably dont care at all but does someone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb forgot the password. I love any help you can offer me
@Markus Fletcher Instablaster =)
Always enjoy your episodes. Just saw a video on the radiomaster t8 pro looks cool.
As a FPV noob I'd love videos like this on entry level good equipment, so as to know the whole package I'd have to buy to get started, without paying over $200 in any single item.
Thanks!
Idk if u got your stuff but 200 isn’t enough. Your best bet is to get the betafpv controller cheap 50 dollar goggles (pls try getting something better like ev800d). For the quad it leaves you around 100 so. I recommend getting a tiny drone that can do acro for under 100 and dump the rest into extra batteries.
I'm buying this for playing liftoff / DRL! Great vids man!
Just installed EdgeTX 2.9.0 and Express LRS 3.3.0 on my Jumper T-Lite ELRS. And it does basically everything I could ask of any radio even at three times the cost. Very happy with mine.
Just started playing elite dangerous with my transmitter and this looks like a perfect replacement for my flysky
Thx man, very informative as usual !
I have this radio one month ago and it changed my visión completely... little, light, all standard features than a normal user needs, with possibility for TBS module... And cheap.. Very cheap but with decent quality... Is true.. A diode for battery inverted protection is important... But is it a problem for us...??? Yes is true that is not a Tango or other "se mi-premium" radio. .. And in the other side if it drops by accident from 7th floor or to the lake is not neccesary an "harakiri".. Is cheap and has a place in my bag... Thank you for your videos...Best wishes from Spain.
13:10 Xjet just had a heart attack after seeing you remove the plastics. 😬
Ha ha
Excellent video Joshua
Thx JB! I too have kicked Frsky to the curb. Even after buying a Horus some years ago. I have a RM TX16s with a TBS crossfire module. I am slowly moving my receivers over. 5 down and about 7 more to go.
Great content ...this would be a no go for me, I guess. This type of reviews are really so appreciated!
I was really interested in this radio when it was first announced. Im SO GLAD i waited! Honestly, there is just way too many problems. I mean the entire battery and power situation is a flat out dealbreaker. Thank you JB!
@Moody fpv to just toss around in a bag instead of carrying a giant radio, there is really no better. And besides, if you going to fly more then 250mv better use a more proper full size radio.
So far I have 0 complains about the t-lite (no long term, because it just came out) even if they come up with a version 2 in a year or so.
I pre ordered a tango 2 for my first controller very excited to get it in my hands
Good choice.
Have been looking forward to a review of this by you to see if I can finally move on from my trusty turnigy evolution without having to bin all the receivers!
Throwback!
Haha. Yeah, I just upgraded to the radio master from the evolution about 3 months ago because I wanted crossfire capability. Hope I don't regret it by the end of this video. I really like the radiomaster, but miss the evolution form factor, though not as much as I thought I would.
AngryPepper here, another great job Joshua, well I did buy this as my first as at the time I couldn’t afford the Radio Master. I guess it’s not the worst, but I will checkout your radio roundup to make my final choice.I do want Crossfire eventually but I don’t think I’ll buy for this one anyway. Since I’ve just started in fpv I know I want some of those tiny whoops and this should be a decent size and protocol for at least those.
I bought one for my daughter but probably I ll use it for holidays , very nice to have a small radio.
Nice price point. I’m happy I ordered the Tango 2
Thanks bro is done everything work perfectly now Thanks again:)
My DX7s is getting old so I figured I'd grab one of these as either a supplement for micros and non-spektrum stuff or to replace it. After using it a bit I think I like it well enough to sell my DX7s on Ebay, where the current prices for DX7s is insanely over $100.
5 cent diode would prevent them from selling you another $75 radio.
@Garland Uldrich yer rite
I just picked up my first radio and I went with the radio master TX12 over the t-lite. The TX12 was about $25 more, but being crossfire ready was what sold me.
I"m Whereverimayroam, and I'm gonna learn 5 or 6 somethings today because I can't stop watching these videos one after the other after the other after.......
I like the disclaimer that although it is a decent to radio there's a good chance that jumper will release another one or the fact that radio Master could possibly release one.
I have the t16 and really want the t16s or even the radio Master ..
Thanks for all you do MR. Bardwell
I was very close to buying one of these as my first FPV radio but i went with the TX16S and from all the reviews it seems like ive made a good choice
I thought game pad style controller would suite me as well especially comping from gaming on Xbox for a better part of my life but I tried and it was superrr weird (I’m a pinched though when flying) and I went with tx16s. Such a good radio.
@@patrickfontenot8953 turns out im a pincher too lol
TX16S is a much better & more capable radio if it fits in your budget. Literally the only downside is it's a standard big radio, so if you want something smaller then a gamepad-style one would be easier. ( I do have a big radio, and want to get a smaller one, but have yet to see a gamepad-style one with enough features for me to want to switch.)
A quick, cheap & easy source of 18650 cells for this sort of application is USB powerbanks. Poundland here in the UK sell £1 powerbanks containing a 1200mAh 18650 cell, and £2 ones contain a 2200mAh 18650 cell. They both have spot welded tabs on which you can solder wires directly to, or rip the tabs off and use them as loose cells.
The charging/5v output circuitboard in them can be useful too, I combined a £2 powerbank with a £1 COB LED head torch from there with a custom 3D print into a USB rechargeable head torch which has about 4 hours runtime.
Joshua, love your BG shirt
Would make a great radio to practice on the sim! Will help build muscle memory
If anyone is debating between this and the cheaper BetaFPV LiteRadio 2, I highly recommend spending the extra money for this. My LiteRadio 2 worked great for about 2 weeks, then the connections to the potentiometer broke inside and made it basically unflyable.
Bought it in December and still waiting for it, ah.. reviewers powers! You got 2 for feee 😁 I have a radiomaster already but I wanted something to bring with me on holiday;)
Mines showed up today I ordered it Saturday? I used arrishobby for the first time
I loved the black and white moments. 🤣
Hey JB, you might recognize my name since I've been harping on you for this review over the last couple of streams you've done! First off, thank you so much for the review, and all your excellent content for that matter. Hopefully the super chats and Patreon subscription help offset the bother! :D
I've watched every single T-Lite video on YT and was just waiting for yours as I value your opinion above any else's on YT. I ended up buying this radio (using your affiliate link!) as it seems the negatives will be a non issue for the reason I bought it for. I got it for my wife, who is 5'3" and has very thin fingers and petite hands, so the ergonomics should actually fit her quite well. It'll be her first radio and she'll primarily be flying RC planes LOS, so range issues are not a concern. She'll also need it for simulator work and buddy boxing with me and my TX16S (bought on your recommendation, using your affiliate link!). Anyway, I presume it'll work great for us!
PS - My theory on Jumper not every releasing a "perfect" version one of their products is due to Radiomaster. RM has been releasing near identical products to Jumper and doing it much better, IMO. That must make Jumper feel like they have to get products to market ASAP in order to get all the sales possible before RM releases a better version!
Hey there, I got the T-Lite as well and have no idea how to set it up to use as a controller on PC. All I get when I plug it into my Win 10 computer is 'STM32 bootloader.' Got any ideas? Also, I'm building my first drone and am now trying to bind it to the FrSky R-XSR receiver, but I don't think I've succeeded just yet, though I think I have the rest of the settings down in the Mode I set up.
@@rebelstrategist When you plug it in, it should prompt you to select how you are using it on the controller screen. Are you seeing that?
@@TheApostateTapir oh yeah, I saw that after actually turning on the radio, ha. So now it's recognized but now I'll have to mess with the configuration stuff in RDS.
I really considerd this radio..just starting out .came across the 9xd turnigy .bought it used ,and the external module is the mxt 90 that will only ppm . the thing will bind to my old echine copters but not hubsan or my new echines..im new to all this so i was thinking of this radio or buying a new 4-1 mode for the 9xd
Just getting into FPV and have several whoops. Thought this would be great for using with a simulator to practice on before I move on to a 3inch. So I just ordered one :)
same
I like how you say you don't receive monetary compensation for your review but you get a lot of free shit,(I'm jealous) lucky guy not trying to knock you down you've helped me out so many times keep up the good work. And I know it takes a lot of work to be posting videos every day takes time away from family thank you for all your hard work.......
Almost at 200k!
Do you know why I can’t bind my jumper t-lite to my srxl2 receivers?
I ABSOLUTELY COULDN'T WAIT FOR J B TO REVIEW THIS RADIO!!!!🤣....I saw a yt video the other day where a guy named stylesuxx did a review and he pointed out some things that were a little concerning....a very bad voltage sag and binding issues as well as gimbal readings were all over the place....now I'm not a pro I'm just starting out in fpv but even I felt something was wrong lol he may have had a bad radio or a bad meter however it still makes you go hmmmmmm🤔 that on top of the things Jb pointed out really helped make up my mind on whether I'm going with this or the tango I'm a gamer so I definitely want a game style radio....if it weren't for JB's content I would probably be flying a paper clip with a rubber band with popsicle sticks! I knew nothing about this hobby but now I am a padawan👍✌
Hi Joshua,
Great review, I think I am going to pick one up, I have never really liked the larger transmitters, and I am not a "pincher" flyer either.
I do have a question not related to this video, can you suggest any flite controllers or stacks I can use for a mini tricopter? I have done a lot of research and can not find any information. I would like something that has a F405 or F7, can any stack be made to configure into a tricopter setup?
Thanks for your time and keep up the great work!
Asplenia.
Hey Joshua, nice vid. After a 3 year absence from FPV (and after selling literally all my gear), I'm considering getting back in. Fortunately, with a fresh start, I don't have to worry about compatibility with legacy goggles, receivers, or radios. I'm probably going to start by buying a radio and a sim to get my stick feel back. Since I'm completely starting over, does it make more sense to jump straight into Digital and go with a DJI radio or should I restart with cheaper and (to me) easier analog with either this radio or the Tango?
I just got a Jumper T lite in the mail and the Battery bay problem is fixed its holding my 18650 nicely.
what did you think, hall sensor in this controller or TX12 ? it's for budget beginners. Which did you recommend for that price range?
@joshua Bardwell if I am currently set up with frsky receivers using pre ACCESS firmware, does it work fine with the 4in1 here? Can the t-lite bind to access AND pre-access frsky? Trying to avoid needing more firmware changes on my xm+ since it would mean desolder and all that.
Only FrSky controllers can bind to access receivers. But the Jumper can bind both pre and post 2.0 firmware as long as it's accst D16 not access.
Great video!
I have a question: Can I use the Jumper T-lite with the Beta65s Tiny whoop?
I would be very grateful if you could answer.
thanks, Rcky
I fly and love my X-Lite, but I never switched to the ACCESS PROTOCOL I've stuck with the ACCST PROTOCOL because I do fly whoops and in D8 which as we all know is absent from the Acces Protocol. I'm a pincher aswell and I find it perfectly comfortable.
I would be very happy if the new DJI controller was even simpler than this.
The ergonomics seem pretty good on it.
Which Frsky Receivers does the Jumper T-lite JP4in1 work with without and extra module?: R9M, XM+, and R-XSR? (All it says is CC2500) Thanks for your help.
I believe it works with D8 and D16 receivers. I think you can use the XM+ if it has the ACCST firmware.
yay, I am early! love the vids!
I like it. But since I have two of the BetaFPV Lite Transmitters with two different protocols, I think I'll hold out until I'm ready for a Teranis.
Nice features no doubt.
What protocol should I switch to? I am currently using turnigy i6s radio which I want to upgrade, but I am stuck at choosing new protocol. Does it even matter? Or what are the differences?
I had just started watching this video when mine came in.
Josh is the man .
Do you know if the proprietary protocol Emax used in the EZ Pilot quad really is proprietary or if the 4in1 module has a compatible protocol ?
Hi Joshua, how do I connect this to my geprc tinygo? I can't seem to find guide for binding it to my whoop. Thanks.
Great info on the jumper it looks neat, thank you. I finally got my jumper T-lite. Thought I would study it and try to bind it with my Geelang ligo 78x you are probably familiar with this little quad. Binding should be simple, we have been doing it for years, but do you think I can get this thing to bind? No joy!! I got the quad with the dsmx receiver in it. It wont bind even with my 2 old spectrum transmitters either which are the dxe and the dx4e. Even if they are out dated you would think it would bind at least with the T-lite. Have you ever had the chance to fly this model with the jumper?
I have one question? Can you control the original air unit with the new Fpv remote
Cheap, compact inside backpack, nice support viture, why not for save money and buying sparepart quad 😁👍
Thanks from Brasil
Curious if you were to pick a beginner setup: TX16S and a cheaper box goggle or the T-lite and Skyzone Cobra X? Where would you spend more $?
I'm curious too!
Hi, do you think this radio will give compatibility issues with frsky recent receivers? I know from personal experience that the BETAFPV Literadio 2 se is a no go....
hahaha the outro was awesome
I bought the low priced Jumper for flying my tiny whoops. I have a smaller bag to carry to the park.
For my first FPV controller I just ordered a Tango 2 pro last Saturday. Anyone have a guess as to when I will receive it here in GA, USA?
2 weeks
Thanks! :)
Iv just ordered a jumper t pro for my first controller with ev800d goggles & a meteor 75
for germany 25mW is the allowed maximun. if you compare for example frsky to crossfire it's still a big step up using 25mW with crossfire. (that probably counts for whole eu).
Just getting into FPV and have the FPV Whoop Racing Advanced Kit 2. Is the Jumper T LITE a big upgrade over the LiteRadio 2? Is the Jumper compatible with all the BetaFPV quads?
I need to replace my BetaFPV LiteRadio 2 that came with my Advanced Kit 2 due to stick jitter. I am thinking about getting the T-Lite to replace it. I wouldn't recommend the LiteRadio 2 to anyone. Mine had problems right out of the box. Would the T-Lite fit in the BetaFPV case?
Sorry, a bit on the late side, but for anyone else, I made the same replacement and am pretty happy so far. It does fit perfectly in the case (with the antenna removed) and has none of the jittery gimbal issues I also had with the LiteRadio 2. A big relief, because if you've only ever used one radio you can't be sure if it's you or the radio. My T-lite is much better (smoother), even in the simulator. I also wouldn't recommend the LiteRadio as it can spoil the experience for a beginner.
I have been waiting over a month for this controller to show up
i realy would like to know where im wrong..
in the low pricepoint you dont use crossfire
if you want to spent more bugs for better you can although go FULL DJI
so crossfire is actualy only for the ppl who allready have stuff running on it
so the crossfire option is only for the ppl who are a long time into the hobby while its completly obsolet with the newer better dji system (except if your racing professionaly??)
This looks like my next radio, really wish it had at least one knob on it so I can tilt the camera up & down, I guess I could setup a 3 position switch, wonder if I could add a potentiometer or encoder...
I don't have any radios with OpenTX, and I don't fly airplanes. However, if I get the Tango 2, and I later want to fly airplanes, can I at least put trims on from within the menu system? I know that this isn't optimal, because trim might change from one flight to the other, but still?
Hey buddy, quick question I fly fixed wing mode 4, I was wondering if you knew if this tx is capable of switching modes or switching the channel line up, thanks.
Is there a mod for using the crsf micro module on it without haven't to buy the kit or having to buy the nano module?
now i need to know about buddy box and head tracking!?
There's a reason the xlite originally used 2 18500 cells its very difficult to build a radio that can function off a single 18650 cell reliably.
A protection diode would just exacerbate the problem even a Schottky diode has few tenths of a volt voltage drop.
The primary focus of this design was to as compact as possible radio that can do multiprotocol. In this regard there are virtually zero compromises.
Adding the crossfire bay also is a great extra bonus with compromises that can be worked around until you can afford a more substantial radio.
Hi, i have already have this remote, my question is can i replace the antenna and use 5dbi antenna?
Can I take my sd card with all my models setup from my jumper t16pro 2 and put it in my t lite and it just work?
Maybe if flying indoors with Tinyhawk or something similar, would be ok. Thanks for posting.
I got a jumper for t-lite for Christmas and the yaw gimbal is not working so I resoildered it and it stopped working about a week later is there any way to completely fix it?
you're a prophet, it does indeed have hw issues. i really liked mine at first, but it developed a permanent "key stuck" error on the SECOND day. :D turns out it's very common, and requires actual soldering skills to remove a tiny capacitor without damaging anything, so for now I'm stuck with a useless controller
Short version... my son turned my t-lite on with out the antenna on!!! Easy fix or not???
really enjoyed this advertisement for the TBS Tango 2, lol
(it's actually a super fair review)
This radio is going after the flyky fsi6 market tbh not the tango 2 market.
Doesn't do mode 1 though.
Joshua, are you still going to review the skyzone cobra goggles? I kinda like the t-lite for its price but went for a tx16s hall instead 😁😁
Yes they're scheduled for Friday
@@JoshuaBardwell awesome, can't wait! I hope they will be good for me as I am thinking of upgrading my goggles soon.
bring forth information!!
By the way I love the botgrinder shirt 👍👍
Still waiting for the BG kit
Agreed
I've bought it and it eventually arrived (there's another comment of me waiting..) and I had to fix it 3 times already. The gimbals are connected with 3 thin wires, and those are keeping detaching. I'm not confident flying with it at the moment, I will check at some point if there's a way to keep the damn cables in place, maybe a drop of glue but for now I can't trust it.
Crazy, I spent almost as much for my hall gimbals for my x9 d......rrrrr.
Is it possible to swap between mode 1 and mode 2 on this radiocontroller?
HELP: I have a tinyhawk 2 freestyle. What is the best game pad style , no fuss radio to get to bind with this specific quad ? I keep hearing about d8 compatibility? Is there game pad style that works with d8? PLEASE HELP....
I fly a TH2 and a TH2 freestyle with this radio (the 4-in-1 version) in D8 mode and it works great! You can use most opentx videos on how to bind the tiny hawk with it.
@@dwlld thank you very much for rhe information. That definitely helps alot. Exciting times.
in the user manual it states that button-top protected won't fit but my LG battery also fits loose.
Watches a lot of your videos great stuff
Question for you just getting into the FPV drones and purchased a used drone from a friend I need a controller and he said anything with FR sky protocol will do
any suggestions?
ua-cam.com/video/DfX98yApzp4/v-deo.html&ab_channel=JoshuaBardwell
I have had this radio for a while now and it feels really good, great step up from a literadio2
Would this connect to XJT like the TinyHawk II?
newbie here i just bought this controller and trying to find the proper simulator cable. Does it matter what cable i use. audio jack to usb. reading about dongle and compatibility with windows and such. can someone shed some light on this please. thanks
Yes
I'm not a gamepad style dude lol. But I like your videos. They're always informative and well made. That's why i'm here Senor, JB.
I just orderer this controller but I see that there is no battery. I found out that 18650 battery should be used. Does it matter which particular battery I use? Do they matter in any way?
Flattop vs button top I think.
Back in 2013 I paid 499 for my Futaba10cg. What a rip compared to what's available now
Any review on the v2?
