Out of the drone community
JB is my absolute favorite UA-camr.
I love it when people make me smarter, definitely the kind of people I like to surround myself with
I actually just got my Tango 2. I didn't feel like I needed one because my Taranis has never let me down but I ended up wanting smaller to reduce bag space. I could not be happier with this thing! I fly a mix of pinch and thumb depending on my mood and I thought it was a little off pinched but could still do it fine. I just changed to the clear case and decided to get the ummagrip tape for it. It is so bloody stuck in my hands now and pinching feels 100 times better now. That tape is worth every penny on the Tango 2!
Radiomaster and Jumper are basically the same radio, except the internal cables. In that case Radiomaster had the advantage of learning from Jumpers mistakes before release. The supply of new cables and other upgradable parts was really quick and affordable as credit towards Jumper.
I really want to get into FPV racing, and most channels I've seen doesn't give the info like you do. I'll be definitely subscribing to this channel.
I've had my Frsky QX7 for nearly 4 years. Updated the Gimbals long ago, and it's a great radio. I still have several XM+ and R-XSR receivers, but I ditched my R9 gear, used it on the Crossfire Exchange program, and completely converted over to Crossfire! Sent them my R9 module and 7 R9 receivers, got their full 50% trade in, and ended up with the new V2 module and 5 receivers for $100 shipped! Couldn't ask for a better deal or a better system! Solid as a rock and I'll never look back or at any Frsky receivers, and their INCREDIBLY FOOLISH change over to ACCESS and the confusion and rock solid domination of the radio and receiver category they had and have obviously lost, every again! Frsky has got to be hurting with they're stupid move of total confusion for everyone, even JB! And, as we all know, you confuse JB, and you've done something super stupid and super wrong! lol 🤔😳🙄
I want to thank you, and really all the FPV community on YT and forums. I purchased the DJI FPV combo as well as a Nazgul 5hd v2. I've spent the last week flying in simulators and going down the FPV rabbit hole. I've learned a lot, I decided on the TX16s, I even used your link to purchase. Now if only the Xfire tx and rx sets were in stock in the US or the DJI V2 controller worked with Caddx/vista I'd be out slapping tomorrow. Alas, either way I'll be ripping around eventually, I'll just bide my time in the sims and continue to take in all the info and advice.
Man tango 2 has been the first radio I ever got and still driving it! 3 months later😂
For me X9D Plus SE 2019 with the Crossfire Micro TX is my choice.. It not big like Radio master and I like that. I think the combo is just so clean and the X9D is such a good reliable radio with all the functions I need. Combined with CF I'm set to fly anywhere anytime.
i bought the tx16s last week. I am a beginner in this hobby, I use the flysky fs i6 right now. Greeting from Argentina.
Hi Joshua, with me it was the same reason why I left FrSky. The everlasting firmware updates and the problems in the EU with LBT / FCC mode gave me the rest. I gave all FrSky receivers to young pilots and switched completely to Crossfire. Recently I bought the Tango 2 for trips with the bike where space is limited. My standard radio is still the Taranis X9d with HAL effects gimbals and the Crossfire module. Happy flying!
Thanks, answered a number of questions - keep it up brother!
Just pre-ordered the tx16s max, the new gold color scheme looks sick!!!!!!!
"Crossfire...just works" no doubt!
The Frsky lite was suppose to be the entry level tx at that time and i held back because Xfire was costing more . But i'm glad i waited and true enough i did get a xfire w a TX16s. I really would be regretting it if i got the Frsky. Thanks for the reviews and the updating us all on features pros and cons of all that is out there !
Got my TX16S on the weekend (getting back into RC for the first time since high school, when I only got to try friend's setups occasionally)... only used with the Liftoff simulator so far (will be progressing to a trashcan then "full size" quads), but I'm loving it so far. Super jealous of the purple bling but can't justify the cost for pure cosmetics.
Always learn from you...man are you detailed!
Love my Tango 2 with multi protocol module - iRange IRX4 lite installed inside. Can’t beat the form factor and can fly almost anything. Sold my TX16S when TBS came out with MPM support.
Hey JB, are the radiomaster upgrades compatible with the jumper t16? I'd love to add that metal folding bar onto my jumper.
i love my tango2, i fly hybrid pinch and it works amazing
Great video. I’ve had a Taranis X9D+ for maybe 6 years now. I’ve only actually had one FrSky RX which is the L9R and never had to mess with firmware. I’ve also used it with an EZUHF JR module, again with no messing. But in the last week I have finally got round to building various things and needed a bunch of new receivers. I bought some radiomaster R168’s because they were advertised as “EU LBT”. I wasn’t actually sure which firmware my Taranis had. Long story short, NIGHTMARE! I had no idea that it only is the EU and Non EU but there is V1 / V2 which don’t play together. My radio was actually non EU so at first I just flashed it with the latest EU LBT then spent an hour trying to bind the R168’s. I’ve actually learnt more about open TX and FrSky firmware in the last 2 days than I have known since getting this transmitter and I finally ‘get it’. Now I understand it I have no real reason to move to anything else but I completely understand not recommending it now to people who aren’t already invested.
Great video again! Thanks for your opinion!
I have the X9D+ and X9E.
Gonna probably buy the TX16S MAX with ExpressLRS flashed frsky rx/tx :)
Me too! Still rolling x9d plus with full size crossfire! the gimbals still feel amazing, switches work, so I just don't see the reason to even buy a new radio yet..... But I don't fly any 2.4 and I definitely don't use frsky's receivers
Great video . I just got fed up with the x9d plus and after watching your videos on the radio master t16 max after watching your ultimate shopping list I just got rdq to ship me one. And yes after watching your video waaaaayyy back on rdq I’ve spent millions with them like just bought the hdo2 and the radio master max.
Thank you for an interesting review of current radios. I’m using a Taranis X9D which I’ve had since they first came out and have a number of receivers. With the introduction of the LBT protocol, the changes to the firmware and now the use of Access protocols I dare not add to my collection. I may as well draw a line under Frsky and start with another system altogether. That means your review is particularly useful.
Just bought the new rose gold TX16S because it’s pretty and it had good reviews.
Do you know when you will release the review of the betafpv 95x v2, because I was thinking about getting that
I bought the tx16s right after they added the 2nd speaker, but I sold it because the gimbals felt way to loose. I recently purchased and received the tx16s max...wow, what a difference in gimbal feel..a bit more friction, and very smooth.
Nice review josh. Call me “old school,” but I’m perfectly good with my XD9+ with the original crossfire module. Yes it’s can be really annoying when it comes to programming your switches but once your past that it’s an amazing radio.
I couldn’t adjust very well with those new “gamer” style radios cause I love my wings as much as my quads, I need the trim switches and I also pinch. So it’s pretty cool seeing all the different options for the r/c flying Community and it’s pretty amazing seeing all the cool new technologies.
Thanks for another good video with great info josh, keep up the good work.
Hey Joshua, I got my Jumper T16 in May 2019 and I got the Jumper JP4IN1 Multi-Protocol in Aug 2018. I really haven't used it much. I've only manually added one model on it, bound it to a Blade Nano QX which is DSMX protocol and it flies great with the Jumper. But over the past weekend, after sitting for maybe a week in a half, it turned on by itself and went into Emergency Mode. I have to pull the battery out because it won't turn off. I haven't transferred any models or changed anything with the Jumper radio other than to turn it on and off. I checked to make sure the internal RF is off. Is this the problem you mentioned with the Jumper and its ribbon cables? My opentx v2.3.5
Hey Joshua would the radio master give me a better range compare to my flySky I6?
Really enjoy your videos.
If you wanted to go to crsf would the ones on bangers with the micro tx v2 be a good option thoughts cheers
Hi i really enjoy all your videos . Can you recommend the best telemetry capable reciever to use with the radiomaster tx16s. I only fly Fixed wing .
Thanks
New to drone flying. (2 weeks). I have been reading Frsky as FireSky. 😄.
Thank you for your videos. They have been very helpful in my new journey of drone flying.
I Love my TX16S since its arrived on August. Awesome Radio for a awesome price.
The Archer M+ receiver is $11 on Banggood right now. At that price, Access is looking like it might be better than ACCST, and maybe even worth your money. I had to flash the internal module on my radio to the latest firmware, but other than that it just worked.
4:10 When you order a TX16s and you want to have different colors and faceplate schemes than the standard combinations offered, order the radio with the faceplate scheme you want then go online and look for “replacement parts” and you can find all of the different anodized color options as well as different leather grips. Idk why those key words work over searching for “upgrades” but it does especially if you order from banggood.
I have flysky for whoops, and the dji controller for my bigger quads since they’re all HD. Apparently flysky is lower latency than other protocols. And no doubt it’s nice having flexibility with opentx but I decided to go the expensive easy route with dji. Makes building so easy and binding is hassle free.
Yep I've got Flysky as well, I think its underrated, personally. I'm just wanting CRSF, which my current transmitter doesn't support :(
Hi man great job.. whats model your frame glasses ?
I just bought a tx16s. Not much time with it but it feels like a nice upgrade in my world
Waiting on my CNC upgrade kit for the TX16s. Still a week before shipping!
I’m gunna get myself a new radio using JB’s link.
@Joshua Bardwell : What about the upcoming Jumper T-Lite? Are you planning a review?
I have the t2 and love it, except I find it to be very sensitive and not sure how I can make it as precise as the qx7 with hall gymbals
Yeah...I love my Radiomaster tx16s..❤
I have my LR2 bound to several different quads - there's just no simple switching back and forth, i.e., if two drones are bound and turned on, two drones will react. I'm pretty sure that's what you meant, but I didn't infer it as such. :)
Be forewarned, however, that BetaFPV is or was having a huge QC problem with the wires coming loose from the gimbal pots. Not an easy soldering fix if you're new to soldering as the wires are very small and delicate. BetaFPV did send me new gimbals, but it too - and no hyperbole - 5 months to convince and then receive. YMMV.
Thanks for all you do Joshua! You've made me a much more informed user.
Don't forget the t12 or t8 form factor which are a nice middle ground between the larger t16/18 and game pad style transmitters. 👍
How well does theTX16S hold up to the build quality of the old JR.
I have a 9XII and wondering if it's worth swapping from such high end to a Radiomaster
Have you done a video on how you have your switches mapped?
I’m confused which versions of the Tx16s include the ips screen. The multi-color seems like good value but only the resolution of the screen is listed.
So i got the normal TX16S with hall effect gimbals and it came with the speaker upgrade, does that mean that i also have the better screen in my radio?
I’m digging the tango 2. I’m a long time gamer so it it peaks my interest
What do you think of the new Radioking radio??? Is it just a cheap copy of the radiomaster?? Or is it actually worth buying??
Just bought a tango 2 for my sim, excited!
Where did you get it? I've been trying to get one and it is out of stock everywhere
I have the jumper 18pro but I'm going back to futaba. I have a 18SZ coming in the mail and will be adding crossfire to it since it's got a firmware update for it. I've always used futaba for a surface radio and I like their OS.
Also there’s a part on eBay you can buy to give your radiomaster tx16s a removable antenna. You just need that part and a ufl connector.
You can search “radiomaster tpu” to find it
Dose the RDQ battery in the tx16s last long with crossfire?
Crossfire FrSky resonated with me as a total noob, I had already purchased my Frsky X9D and needed to know which receiver was the best for my setup ( I need a MultiMod too) Cheers Josh!!!
Do you know what the difference is between the Tango 2 and the Tango 2 Pro?
Great video, Joshua! Thanks a lot! 😊
Are you going to check TBS Tracer?
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I bought a radiomaster tx16s and i love it. I have the radiomaster 2s 5000mah battery for it and i dont haven't charge it at all for some time. Best of all, connecting my frsky rxsr with fport setup wasnt that bad and i was able to upgrade the firmware through the radiomaster, because the frsky rxsr came with the jport update wire in the package. The only issue i am having is figuring out why i am not getting the battery info from the quad to show on the radio...
@Joshua Bardwell. Hope you are doing well. May I ask why you haven't done a review of the Radiomaster TX12? Thanks
Great video, an update factoring in ExpressLRS would be great :)
I mostly fly the dji controller mainly because I have more than a few vistas / air units . I love my jumper t16 I replaced the gimbals and the main ribbon cable only . Still have the ribbon and it works perfectly. I bought the tango 2 as well , my dx6 recently stopped working so I moved the models to the jumper . I’m looking at the ghost products . I like the dji because it it’s less parts to install/connect and just works
I am waiting on the review on the new RadioMaster T8
and the tx8 / t8sg v2 plus ? like 80 dollar multiprotocol ,150mw ,etc
Will a FrSky Taranis x9d plus be a good transmitter today? I acquired one and was wonder8ng if it will work for today's drones?
Will those parts work for the jumper t16?
Sweet, you hit probably (edit)most- of the questions coming your way. I want to get custom pieces for my own TX16S. I like any of the parts that make it sturdier.
Thanks Joshua for your amzing videos ! I have a dilema about what to do because I have a Futaba T8J for years now and I never got the courage to sell it to go with crossfire system. Now the radiomaster T-16S is a great deal and I wanted to have your opinion about switching from Futaba T8J to T-16S. I know that Futaba is not very popular in north america considering the price and compatibility but now I feel like its the time to move on and get a new radio. What is your opinion about the Futaba T8J ? Do you think I should do the move and go with the T-16S or keep it ? I have 5 quads with Futaba receivers and 2 other quads with the DJI system. Thanks in advance for your time and devotion to the hobby ! One of your best fans fo sho :). Any constructive comments from your viewers are also welcome !
Hi. Do you have an updated video. Many of the products are not available anymore on Banggood! Thx
I have flown with the X10s the past two years. I switched to the tx16s during the hype craze for it and was disappointed with the gimbal quality..went back to the X10s. Just recently switched to the tango 2, and am loving it!
Hi Joshua, have you switched away from Crossfire? Lately i have heard you say that you use Goast on your bigger drones. I have a T16s radio and a Crossfire mod. Are their benefits to moving to Goast?
I'm just getting into FPV. I have the DJI FPV Drone. I can fly full acro but I am looking to put together my own setup. Something I can fix on my own wen I wreck. This Radiomaster TX16 Smax has been catching my eye. What would you recommend for a greeny? Btw love your videos man you are full of usefull info. Thanks for everything bro!
All these have usb and will work for Sims correct? Looking to get one, try it out then maybe build a drone
JB, can you please do another Jan 2022 Guide with the latest RC Controllers out there?
I'm still using Horus X10 and don't know should I buy something newer and cheaper. But I want)
i love my radiomaster tx16s with the crossfire tx module :)
I've been rocking the frsky x9 lite for about a year now and I haven't had many problems with it. Updating the receiver was a nightmare due to the fact that I don't actually own a servo connector. I will buy the crossfire lite module asap because I would rather pay $130 for crossfire than have to deal with frsky.
I’m struggling piecing together the perfect set up
I’m thinking dji goggles
The tx16s controllers
Tbs crossfire
And a Nazgûl 5
Can you make or do you have a video
Explaining the set up
Emphasis on compatibility
You’ll have to pry my x9d Steele edition out of my cold dead hands :) i’m Glad when I was getting in to fpv the reviewers were heavy into frsky, just get the x9d, done. Now there’s so many choices!
Yeah same here, I got the x9d 2019 se when it just came out. Still going strong and only replaced the speaker for a louder and clearer one
Whats your opinion on the flysky nirvana sf-nv14 ?
Is there something like the T12 in a case the size of the T16.... without all the extras?
Joshua, thank you for your valuable information.
I am trying to enter this world buying all needed to start with a Tiny Whoop setup.
I just ordered the Radio from one of your links (Beta FPV Lite Radio)
I will appreciate if you could send me a simple list of the rest of the things you recommend me to buy for a good setup that could run around $400 is that posible? Thank you. Including the Eachine EV800D, that you already reviewed. Thank you!
Love my Xlite + micro tx v2 + iranger multiprotocol!
I have a Flysky th9x radio. WillI have to change radios to fly Pnp or bnf drones or change module if possible.
Does the battery fit on the jumper t16?
I had the betafpv lite 2 for 1 week and the USB cable input broke😥. So I bought the tx16s😃! Hope it is good when it arrives!🤞
Coming back to the hobby after a long hiatus. Let me put it this way my first receiver was a Focus 4 by hitec released in 1999 and I never bothered.
So can the jumper t-18 internal R9 module be flashed directly with ExpressLRS ?
Moved from my hall effected Qx7 to the Tbs tango 2 with mpm no looking back, I feel it gives me better control and a buttery feel I never experienced with the upgraded Qx7. Thanks Trappy.
Really? I want to crossfire and it seems like a nightmare with the Qx7. Which is a bummer because I just installed the Hall gimbals. How's the battery on the T2? Also are you a pincher? I'm a thumber 😎. Tks
Sir will tango 2 work with hybrid piolets?
Switched from the DJI controller to Tango 2 and I'm not looking back
DJI controller is twice the size of the Tango and it's a 5.8ghz link which means you lose radio when you lose video
I got the jumper t18 pro to switch from my x7.....still have yet to make the full switch.
Got the jumper t8sg v3 plus and eachine qx65 as first quad with own controller and goggles. On your recommendation but the qx65 has no bind button and it says do it on cli? I've tried all day to pair n fly please help me. Need this hobby to work man I'm running out of options trying to get over the loss of my son and drones are the only thing keeping me going
I started out from a Flysky i6 last Dec 2019 with a tinywhoop. Then November 2020 I bought an iFlight Nazgul5 v1 4S.
Now a few days ago I received my RadioKing TX18S, was planning to switch to FrSky receiver originally, but I was pushed by my FPV friends to try Crossfire rx and get a crossfire module for it.
TX18S performs well on my Flysky Fli14+ rx out of the box. This is also my first experience setting up a OpenTx radio 😅 (kind of challenging).
But I have to say goodbye to my RadioKing TX18S, since one of my friend will buy it from me, now I'm waiting for my TBS Tango 2 to arrive from the mail. 😅
I pinch with the Tango. I have small hands but love the small form factor
THanks JB!
A whole lot of people seem to be having problems with the LiteRadio. That's really disappointing. This is always the big issue with recommending a BetaFPV product. When they are good, they can be very good, but then somebody at the factory falls asleep, and quality goes down. If BetaFPV manages to get their quality back up, the LiteRadio will be a solid buy for $40. But it seems like it might be better to give it a pass right now.
Hey JB, great video as always, may I ask you the question (since you used both for a long period): Would you swap over from a X9D SE (Carbon) with Tracer to a Tango 2 or Tx16s Max (or even normal)? I am a thumber and I have never flown a tx16s and I guess I am somewhat fine with my x9d, but if money wasnt problem, is it worth all the said benefits to go buy the tx16s? Would love to get an answer form you this day, since its 11.11 :D
Happy flying!
Yea... But you didn't bring _that_ as your argument for why you can't recommend FrSky anymore 🤨
I have the little radio and besides one switch that was not working that only needed to be unplugged and plugged again I’m still really happy with it ,
Specially for the price.
Yeah, that's why I've never bought a BetaFPV product in the nearly 4 years I've been in the hobby! Too many complaints, issues with this or that, poor designs, burning
up this component, shitty reviews, etc, etc, etc. There always seems to be some reason I've chosen something else! They really need to tighten up the quality control, or somethin'! 😩
I saw the poor reviews but just bought the Literadio 2 anyway as an upgrade to the Tinyhawk rtf kit radio- gigantic upgrade, good quality, couldn’t be happier.
Thanks for this video as a beginner I’ve been debating myself between the RM and the Tango II and this video was great for breaking down the key differences.
