"Betaflight Connector Standard" is a real thing - its still in draft form, but is part of the guidelines they have for manufacturers to make our lives easier. The goal being that when manufacturers use it, that you can just plug an play regardless of which board you are using, with no fear of releasing the magic smoke! 😆
Sheesh! a 36min video!! Thank you JB Thank you because im sure the actual time you spent on this is more than an hour. Happy fathers day to all the fathers out there!!!
Regarding Aquila measurement of speed (@13:00) If it has cameras facing the ground then they can identify the speed at which a certain point is moving move, but i think you'd need 2 cameras or a lidar to accurately measure your distance to said points and that will feed into the calculation of speed
i love these new 40000kv motors for freestyle. with proper throttle expo and midpoint set (90 percent motor limit for my 1800 square foot house or full power for my warehouse job) and it is amazing
Just picked up the t-motor velox and foxeer f405 stacks mentioned in this and put them in builds. Excited to test them out and see how they compare to some of the tried and true t-motor and foxeer products of the past. Only have maybe 20 packs on each, but early returns say neither have some of the electrical noise problems that plagued some earlier icm42688 based boards.
Literally was thinking the same thing when I seen the Caddx analog cam. Pretty kool. I AM an analog guy still. Well just started but still…I am deep in it. Right now
Joshua B! My guy ... Just wanted you to know every time one of your ads pop up. While I'm trying to listen to my music at work, I never skip them. I always watch JB's ads all the way to the end whether I'm interested in the product or not because I know that when I do, it helps him get paid off of the ad and puts more money in his pocket to continue making great content and helping people like me that love learning the fpv way from an fpv guide like JB!
I thought that the telemetry coming back from the RX is what gives us the data in the OSD? At 30:40 he states that is not true. Can someone confirm? Sounds like I had a fundamental misconception :)
Regarding heat transfer, there's more than paste out there - there's potting epoxy. Interesting stuff, it's used on my e-bike ESC and help a LOT to keep it from overheating. I'm not sure if Darwin is using that but I would hope so. If it is, then heat is more of a end of life issue for your electronics than waterproofing. IMO
BF does indeed have a plug standard now. They started working on it last year iirc. See their official docs for more info on it. Manufactures get to use the logo if they adhere to it
20:40 from personal experience, the Echo is an AMAZING single antenna FPV goggle with one main downfall. The DVR in this goggle is not as high quality as the one in the scout. However, it's still very usable in aid for finding a lost drone. The other thing I love about it is how compact it is for a box goggle while providing a perfect field of view compared to the eachine goggles which are way too heavy and feel like a movie theater (massive fov screen). I'd recommend it to any beginner and still haven't found a reason to pay more than double for a better set of goggles.
I use the cement stack on two drones. It's pimp. It has overload protection. So instead of blowing a mosfet it cuts it off. Then you reboot and it's all good. I fly in the winter and over rivers and lakes so they are awesome
I haven't installed them yet but I just bought some rcinpower motors, including those supernovas (in a 2207) and the GTS v4 MCK. I can't lie, i purchased them due to the colors 😅
I thought the AOS motors were also similar to their smaller counterparts in terms of amps pulled, meaning they're not only lighter but mainly more efficient in how much much current they pull for the torque they generate. But I just say that based on his initial launches, I haven't been able to fly them
I have the Aquila16, its great and can take a beating. Though i do think i need to replace the vtx because of a hard head on collision that makes it very limited in range and no HUD. but, its sick as a newbie. great price for an entry into the hobby. the range is for sure limited but thats for when I get better and want to spend actual $ on the hobby. and the controller works in Liftoff so, its a plus
the big deal with the prop popper from winston is how narrow the tapered wedge gets. its SO MUCH easier to get under the prop. you still have to pull the prop up a little bit with the other popper!
I’ve been using an “angled lash applicator” (fine point angled tweezers) to get my props off. I’m tempted to try a prop popper, but 90% of the job is just wedging under the prop and getting it started…the popper probably wouldn’t put holes in my thumb when I slip though 😂.
Ya, Darwin's Hardware seems like it might be pretty good, I need more time to decide. But Their Webpage, the information that we need, is not organized very well. And when I attempted to get help from customer service, it was ghost town. I'm willing to give their hardware a fair shake. If it's as great as they are claiming, It'll be easier to have patience with flakey websites.
As someone with expensive hobbies, dont get your hopes up for the infra camera it is not going to have the image quality of analog nvgs like a pvs14 and i doubt itll be useful at all with no suplimental illimination. BUT im sure itll be great at dusk or at night with ambient lighting with street lights and such
Hey JB, I am using vista with goggles integra. One of the vistas is giving very less range (less than 50 meters) and penetration and I did the FCC unlock as well and also tried WTFOS ...Google is unlocked...the issue is still there. I have OSD and voltage. I have tried new runcam wasp in the same UART of FC Evrything is completely fine. I have tried with multiple antennas as well. No resolution
Started a week ago, ordered a radiomaster pocket, now struggling to choose what goggles and tinywhoop choose! also doing the 20 videos tutorial, thanks! from Argentina
The AI Box is likely using an algorithm from an AI to clean up/denoise the image to a presentable place, they're already super common in photo/video editing and shouldn't be an issue at all to integrate that algorithm into a video feed, which is just X amount of still pictures per second.
Hey Joshua, could you please tell something about the BetaFPV Pavo 20 Pocket? They say, that it has also all those sensors like the Aquila and it is just tiny as the Pavo Pico
Not untill we get some firmware. I’ve got 2 Blheli32 ESCs in my build stash.. older versions and would be nice to use the 32bit firmware that I paid for (license)

They really do fly the same when all other things being equal and at least bheli-s can use bluejay and not have motors randomly turn on during boot.
The AI box is an interesting one. Whether it is actually AI is a good question, I'm seeing a lot of basic "AI" recently where all it actually is, is one of the core algorithms usually found in AI but not so much a full AI.
Hi JB ! Thanks for your great work. Unless i missed it, you didn't talk about the Spydr Itsy. When will you release a test of this tiny quad ? I've got it and found it was a great quad, and it's a great family story too ! Cheers, Thomas (Patreon)
Hey Josh, I need your help or advice from ur educated followers! I'm new to fpv and want to start rounding up my gear piece by piece. At 1st I all I knew was that I want the DJI 03 air controller and the DJI V2 goggles or even the standard goggle 2's however, with the recent DJI ban scare I'm now scared to drop hundreds of dollars on equipment that may be rendered useless in the near future. What other air controller units and goggles are compatible on a wide scale with a variety of drones that you would recommend? Appreciate any help in advance

What's about the new 5inch frame wih the nylon camera cage? It's called ERA by it's FPV

The OSD data is drawn by the FC and vTX on the quad. It is completely separate from telemetry.
