He's got an amazing thought process! and one that should be more widespread. Like, the "If everything is dialed up to a 10, nothing will feel like a 10" is what I find the most interesting cause it's not only something for YT but for everyday life as well
I've been telling people this for awhile now. More cuts doesn't equal a better vid. Sometimes it can be too much. Hillier does such a great job explaining everything perfectly. Not only will Matthew learn tremendously from this, but the rest of us as well! Such a wonderful video!

THANK YOU for putting it into words. I feel like so many people who copy the mrbeast style of videos can often end up with these same sorts of issues, where I'm not actually emotionally invested in any of it and it all just turns into white noise. Fast cuts =/= more interesting. They ALL need to watch this video.
I wanna see Hillier's take on short form content. I find myself cutting my video every single second with no reason just to keep that retention going. This video basically showed not to edit longform content as shortform, but could we edit shortform more like longform?
The value of permission to enhance the storytelling than just solely on optimization is gold. Loved how you compared it to movies. Just like in CreatorNow, your insights give me lightbulb moments. Sportmode Carl
Glad you made a video on him. When i first saw his Mrbeast Squid game video, I was blown away by his editing, but after a couple of months later, now I can't watch him because it's just exhaustingly fast with no real goal or conclusion, and feels over-edited and forced. That's why Ryan Trahan is getting way more views, not because of cutting down the video, but storytelling.
Love the simplicity but yet complexity of how storytelling can be done right and wrong! So nice to see you teaching us so we can get better and make UA-cam a better place to spend time on in general! Also great joke at the end to cut off the video 😂✂
It's a huge thing to be able to be open to criticism - especially in person, while reviewing your work, and on a video that's captured in perpetuity no less! Lots of peoples' egos won't allow for this. I hadn't heard of Beem before but he earned my respect being part of this video. I'll be sure to check him out now.
