I'm Hayden Hillier-Smith, on this channel I will break down what makes good editing...pulling back the curtain on how editors make the choices to keep YOU, THE AUDIENCE engaged. This includes showcasing the creative choices I have made.
And exploring the editorial process for other UA-cam channels in how they have optimised their content. I’m even going to take you through my journey where I experiment on how I can become a better editor and learn through my experiences.
Whatever it is that I do on this channel, I hope you can learn something and discover your own ability on being a content creator yourself.

I didn't know this was a channel I needed to watch, but I really glad I started watching. I really enjoy the nerdy breakdown of editing and creating content. The work that goes into BTS and Post Production even for a 'stupid, silly vlog' is quite surprising to many. It's shocking how many creators out there don't put the effort of know the effort needed to create an awesome piece of content.
This was amazing, definitely going to tell my editors about these tips!
Gaming content isn't an pocket of the industry I've looked into enough, but amazing to know some of my ideas works there too!
HillierSmith I just binged watched like 4 videos back 2 back and learnt so much, can’t believe the mind you have when it comes to creating content.
When I watch Logan’s vlogs I can’t even imagine the process of it all, for me as a viewer they flow absolutely seamlessly.
The best tips for me we’re developing character rapport with viewers, engaging with the audience from the start using spicy chopped intros giving key signals as to what’s coming inside the video and finally the splitting of content into Acts to give the viewer that valuable breather.

Love this video. I've always wondered how hit youtubers edit their videos in the fun/catchy/speedy way, and you explaining the editorial process along w/ footage of your timeline explained just that. I could watch hours of this frankly bc I'm trying to learn how to do what you do. Thanks!
I actually love these videos. I always was interested in watching an editor work for a youtube, and how they make videos so funny. Now I know. I just watched like 5 of your videos and I learned a few things.
1. Use J cuts as often as possible.
2. Use music to add emotion.
3. Stop the music dramatically for a funny joke or something jarring.
4. Speed up the clips and then slow it down to give them room to breathe, while at the same time making viewers becoming hooked to see what's going to happen.
5. Always cutting too fast during the whole vlog will get boring, and vice versa.
6. Cut to other similar visual scenes. Ex: The X mark trick discussed in the 5 editing mistakes video
I've learned so much from this one video! Thank you so much for breaking down the edits. Thought process, enhancing reality, tempo change to emphasize jokes, contrasting music, using text for story telling and much more. I am subscribed with notifications on! Can you please do a breakdown of Roman Atwood or The Ace Family? Their videos feel like they have minimal editing but they are able to keep the audience engaged. Sending you much love ❤️

I think this was your best video. On top of learning a lot about video creation as I always do I loved the jokes on the side like with Evan, in previous videos there weren’t as many thrown around and I think it made it more engaging and fun.
