They do automatically track, but from the distances they were at, the tracking loses people pretty easily, so you weren't entirely wrong. I also would have been tempted (as a drone operator myself) to just get cool shots like you had said rather than focusing on establishing shots. Good stuff Hillier, maybe one day I'll get to your level!
We did use the Skydio drones (auto tracking) for some coverage but the main drone shots used in the video were remotely controlled by us! Thanks for all the support! - DPEditors
About the Logo delay: A years-long Dude Perfect viewer, I've come to expect the title card. Its not bad, just part of Dude Perfect's brand. Their fanbase is massive and hangs on all of their videos. I don't expect they loose any die-hard viewers with that. Also, because DP's videos are so energetic and 'bouncy', the title card can be interpreted as the final audience "breath" before the video. The calm before the storm, the "buckle up" moment, the "hold on to your hats."
The 8 second logo for me is perfect. In that 8 seconds i relaxed and i changed how i sat in my chair without worring of missing something on the screen because i know its the logo i have seen many times
Personally, I feel that the intro is very original and gives us the dude perfect vibe! Which makes us feel at home in a sense and give us abit of satisfaction when we watch the video!
LOL, on three to four of your videos I thought to myself "These are packed with useful info, I am gonna add this to a specific playlist", then realized that every single video you put out is a gem, so it wasn't necessary, as all I need to do is remember your channel name. One of the best channels on YT, by far. Keep up the good work man. Also, no-go on the 8 second logo that you were asking about in the video. Honestly, no intro, or an intro that is 1-3 seconds is ideal. You want them to see who you are, and remember it, but not be bogged down by the time it takes to deliver that information.
I feel like there's no difference by adding or not adding logo, But they have to,because that 8 second logo is the signature of their video, You don't feel the importance of logo because you're watching their video for the first time but it breaks the heart of the fans who have been following then from long time

Such a great breakdown, I always try to learn more about WTF I am doing. DP's editing is amazing, but as much as the logo is amazing for DP, I agree with the initial thoughts. Don't need it.
Our opinion on the logo - it establishes and builds the brand. Yes, audience retention is important and the video itself would have been better without it. In the bigger picture, they're trying to build loyalty to their brand over any one particular video concept. But we could be wrong! Thanks for the breakdown. Gives us plenty of great ideas!
Just found your channel today and loving it whilst learning so much, so thank you! I actually like the 8 second logo, for me it built more excitement by allowing me to reflect on what I've already seen, and start to think about what is to come, which knowing Dude Perfect, will be awesome.
Would you be willing to create a longer video breaking down the editing and camera work of kinetic energy? The bit you left in Peter McKinnon's video left me craving more!
The logo bit does disengage us from the video but I will still watch it cause its Dude Perfect. I personally think it's content of my interest so I will watch it nevertheless. However, the rhythm should not be broken. If one is watching Dude Perfect for the first time, they may click off. I have seen your videos before through which I have realized how important rhythm is in a video. They could have shortened that logo bit or the title card so it fits perfectly in the beat and momentum.
You deserve more subscribers than Logan Paul! The way you understand and interpret editing is truly genius and as a growing editor myself, your thoughts/breakdowns are priceless!
What I almost always do in my editing is leave a breathing space. It's always shorter than the hyped parts but I just kind of feel like "okay that section is filled with hype, let me let them breathe a little" So yeah I think the logo was pretty good idea. Because with that hype, you almost start breathing faster and your heart speeds up so you need to have like checkpoints to slow down every now and then
Personally, I love the intro, it gives you an intermission and allows you to get excited about what's coming next. Kind of like standing on the edge of a plane you are about to skydive out of. Also the sick animations of the intro make it even better.
Dude these videos are so sick. I just started to dip my toes into making youtube videos this year and I can already think of so many areas to improve my editing/storytelling from my next video.
I've been studying graphic design and obviously, when it comes to the logo it means the brand identity, well to summarize things up after so much hype and showing the magnificence of the settings it's time to show that here we are again its showtime, to express that roll your identity of who your group is and that's the logo sequence, they also did a great job of 3d animation of logo it looks intriguing for the eyes of new watchers but for old watchers, the logo sequence is like "yeah it's fucking dude perfect time", plus it's ok because they didn't cut the momentum by still playing the upbeat song so I actually think that placing logo sequence there is also strategic.
