I had the same issue happen yesterday. I scanned my car and had a misfire in cylinder 4 and fixed it and now it rides great. Just make sure to reset your light to make sure the problem is actually fixed It could be a spark plug or an ignition coil
If you don't have a scan tool you can disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes. I know you going to hear that you don't suppose to do that. I do all of the time. The only way it hurts if try to go get it inspection. All you have to do go drive it for 50 miles and you should be good
@@Im_a_nerd_too if you don't have a scan tool OBD scanner I highly recommend you buy one you can get one for like 25 bucks. It's as easy as push a button. However as this other gentleman said you can go to your battery and disconnect and reconnect it
In the past (~70k miles) it was a dirty mass air flow sensor. I bought a can of cleaner specifically for mass air flow sensors, and used that. I think I had to turn the car on and off half a dozen times and drive some. I was actually looking for the video to address that, and as came back 3-1/2 years later.
My sienna Toyota started acting weird when I was on the freeway. No lights on so I exited and manage to get on the road then it stopped moving. The engine and trac off lights came on. 😢
My car has the Trac Off and engine lights on, I was told by a mechanic at a Toyota center that I need a whole new engine, my car only has 94,000 miles on it
Get second opinion, Toyota almost made me buy an entire new transmission that would’ve cost me 8grand from them when I didn’t even need one. My car was having issues cuz it was on ECO MODE these mfs are so money hungry and for what 💀
@@typlayz-everything4369 Same problem here lol, 64ish k miles, trac off/check engine keeps turning themselves on randomly, then turns off a day of two later rinse repeat. Otherwise car runs fine. Wow! That's so awesome! We've got so many people with awesome, awesome ways to fix a situation. We got the guy who replaces his gas cap and fixes it. That's awesome. We got the guy who disconnects his battery and makes the light go out. We know that'll last about 10 minutes and we got this guy You just tells you to turn the VSC off by pushing the button which I don't know about you but I've never seen on my car or any other car like this. If anyone has a real solution please let me know. This situation is driving me nuts.
I kind of begin to think it's probably an Easter egg some programmer at Toyota put in the software. So Toyota can charge some easily manipulated people a few grands to "fix" all the 10 possible problems that might cause it.
I have a 2012 highlander,it has a trac off light and check engine light on. I scanned the engine,I got a P0306,misfire. The question here is,why is the “trac off” light comes on,? When The problem is misfire. How do the systems function in correlation, is it using the same module ?
Hello there, did you find out what the problem was? My car has the exact same problem as yours. The engine trembles and the trac off and engine lights are on.
I was out of town for 3 weeks and my car was idle this whole time. It was very cold where I live. So, when I got back I had this issue after the first start. I run a code reader and it picked up error code which said cylander 2 misfire. I drove the car for about 20 minutes it was still kind of shaky but afer the 2nd start the problem went away on its own. I re-run the code reader and no error codes were picked up. In my case I think some condensation/vapor or simply buildup inside the cylander might have caused this issue. I had done some research before that and it is most likely either a spark plug or fuel injector. Most people suggest you swap the fuel injector from another cylander and see if you get the same problem (but in another cylander). You need to check with a code reader. If that is the case replace it. I was planning to do it myself but fortunately I did not have to. There are many videos that shows how to do it. Good luck. @@atifaftab
My car has an engine with onlt 6000 miles. I cant manually turn the light off. My car vibrates and wont go into 4th gear. It started when I had to hit my breaks to avoid someone pulling out in front of me. Car vibrates uncontrollably. Im so frustrated
This happened to me and I took it to auto zone (they diagnose it free) and they told me i needed new spark plugs and ignition coils, i bought them like $70 and had my brother install it, it’s driving fine now no shaking
You say that people shouldn't get distressed or worry just because the "check engine" light is on unless it's accompanied by other indicator lights... I think it's worth mentioning thatbif someone's check engine light is flashing, even just by itself (but flashing) then the vehicle should immediately be turned off and you should call a mechanic to find out the next steps, but you definitely shouldn't operate any vehicle with a check engine light flashing... That means there's something seriously wrong and just running the engine could cause catastrophic failure.
Not gas cap!!! It's switch sensor for tank... When this light on the gas or fuel leaks... That means hard to start for diesel and for petrol need few seconds to start it... When it on you must change the filters near tank for fuel and for gas@ petrol the inside small filter....

But the mechanic says it's because of slippery road condition due to snow and the power to the vehicle front wheel, and the mechanic says it's common
