Man this is my kind of adventure! I've always been enamored by the idea of just finding a tiny little creek somewhere nearby that never gets paddled, and going down the whole thing in a little inflatable like that. Though I'd have to imagine in such a narrow spot surrounded by thorns and spiders, i'll be wearing some sleeves lol
Totally agree Frozty! I love these punchy little adventures. Fortunately it was too late by the time I careened into a couple branches that an outfit change was out of the question haha. It was quite sporty but super stoked that it turned out to be very manageable. Still a daring time though!
It was for sure Pete! Reminded me a bit of our packrafting adventure (which I’m rewatching your series since it’s so detailed). Also well done on the canoecopia speech! I’m not all the way done with it but enjoying the first quarter of it so far
Great closing thoughts. It's exactly why I pack an inflatable in my camper. It's such a great way to explore a place and see it from a new vantage point.
Oh man! This is super cool. The inflatable approach would work for many creeks in my area. I don’t know why I have not thought about this before. You just opened my eyes yet again, Mr. Brown. This is a great video! Thanks again!
I was wondering myself about an inflatable kayak since I don't have a big car or a shed to store a rigid one. But I was suprised myself that he took an inflatable on this. Would it not get popped if the river is shallow?
Hey curt! And it’s so lightweight that it’s so easy to carry down to the river. Plus very comfortable! Definitely check out the kayak I used in this video, highly recommend the Nyce Nugget after using it for 4 trips (videos to come!)
Shallow and rocky isn’t generally a problem, more so trees that could pop but my raft is very heavy duty. It’s not one of the ultralight versions so that is helpful for durability
It was! That inflatable was very durable BUT I also wasn’t thinking about that before launching lol. The encounters with brush occurred when it was already too late haha
@@LemironStarling I’d say pretty good actually. Just watch for downed trees but the rocks are all pretty rounded so scooting along them is no problem. I forget, do you already have an inflatable? If not I highly recommend the one I’m using in this video. The Nyce nugget
Dude I live in Vernal just south of Flaming Gorge! Crazy that you were right here close! Great video. Huge fan of yours and your Remote Design bags… have em all and use them constantly. If you’re ever in these parts again hit me up!
Oh dang didn’t know you were in vernal! I intentionally drove through there last year to see what it was like. Beautiful! All I’ll say is Ashley creek definitely caught my eye. Have y’all ever paddled it?
I'm from Dutch John, my brother and I used to float down Sheep Creek, but we'd often get bottomed out and have to walk 😂 . Our dad ferried rafts for the lodge so we used to do the Little Hole run on the Green two or three times a day when the weather was good.
Oh that is cool! I figured plenty of locals have given it a shot but most people are headed to the green and drive past Sheep Creek. Cool to hear you all got to run that section of river a bunch!
What a great adventure mate! For this Aussie lot, you are really bringing the US to us in a beautiful way. I've been lucky enough to see a bit of the States, but your productions really make me want to see more!, and from the water Cheers from Sydney - Dave
Thanks Dave! Pretty cool the videos have that impact all over the globe. I’ve certainly wanted to travel to Oz to check out the many wonderful places over there. Cheers!
this is definitey an adventure. Usually I look for more water so I get time to relax a lil. You were a full paddle, over rocks, jump up and get around the tree mode for the whole trip lolz
Hey buddy that looks like a lot of fun man. That was a narrow river man. But as long as you had fun. I like your new Chaco's sandals you got. You should do a kayak sandals gear review on them that are looking for something to wear while kayaking. What kind of Chaco's sandals did you get man. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this video.
Love your videos. Super quality filming. Your paddling is pretty decent but you might find it easier and more efficient to stretch your arms further apart to 90° angles. Put a little tape on your paddle so you can make sure they stay there.
I highly doubt it! The geologic area has been around forever and is in a very popular spot already. Most people just pass it up to get to the lake and green river. Hopefully people stop and appreciate sheep creek for its beauty now!
Went sailing on Toledo Bend the lakes are cold still . Got to get the kayaks in soon , my sister ask me when everytime we talk . Great video do you still live in Houston ? Just thinking you do a lot of driving to get to some of these beautiful places you paddle . Have a blessed one .
I bet they won’t be cold for much longer at these temps which is good. I like the warm water! Haha but yes I do still live in Houston. The drives up to the ozarks have been pretty long but my in laws live in Tulsa so that’s why the ozarks are showing up a lot. Plus Texas hill country rivers are basically bone dry…so I go where the flow is. These western adventures were flights where I could pack the inflatable kayak in a checked bag
Great video as usual Gatewood. How have you been doing? Im finally taking some time off to go yak packing, gonna break in the remote designs dry duffel (druffel). Im excited to ride it down a rapid. As always ill do a review video.
Hey BE! Been doing good man. Trying to keep up with the monthly uploads which I feel confident in so far. Lots of good trips filmed and now working on the editing aspect. Day trips are the name of the game! Dude have fun testing out the duffel, it’s exactly meant for what you do out on the river
That was one of the questions I had, when u kayak camp out how do yall get back to the vehicle, do yall kayak upstream or do yall have someone pick yall up wherever yall end up?
Great question! Starting with most to least preferable: 1. 2 cars, drop one at the takeout and then leave one at the launch. 2. 1 car at the bottom after dropping gear at the top. Then the person at the bottom parks and runs or Ubers back to the top 3. No Uber, 1 car at the bottom after dropping gear at the top. Then the person at the bottom parks and runs back to the top
Whoa that is awesome! Seems like if you had a boat you’d have a lifetime of coves and rivers to check out in that area. So much water flows through the uinta despite it looking like a desert
@GatewoodBrown I floated only the Green River. I spent the other times in caves (there's a lot there), in mines (again a lot), finding old cabins, hiking to springs, finding antlers, finding pictographs, etc. What an amazing area. There's a spot that may become a National Park because of its uniqueness and beauty.
@@K9River The green river around green river looks stunning with all those cliffs. Where was your favorite place out there? I might have to check it out this summer when I'm back out that direction.
@@GatewoodBrown I went from the dam in Dutch John to near the Colorado border. Lots and lots of people, but the beauty is amazing. It's an easy float, too. Come to think of it, the people were pretty good to be around.
