Hope you all are doing well!

Going on my first kayak camping trip this weekend after finding your channel a couple months ago when I bought my first kayak! Thank you for inspiring me to take on new adventures with my kayak and laying out a list of to-do's for kayak camping. You're the man Gatewood.
YESSS!!! GATEWOOD! Great to see you and the boys back in action!! The fishing is getting better and better fitted for you! That bass was a solid catch! Remember a fish is better than no fish!! For us Texans we are blessed to have many rivers and creeks to fish throughout our state, therefore when your fishing smaller bodies of water(rivers/creeks) think smaller profile on your lures. (I.E. creature baits, small flukes). Look up the 'Texas Rig' and you can even still fishing it on your spinning rod! Always love the content Gatewood!! You guys stay safe man! 🙏👍🤙🤙🤙🤙 Fish on brother! 🎣🎣🎣
My man! Back and better than ever. Ok so the fishing tips are great, thank you so much for that. I'll add it to my list of notes and try to execute on it. Fishing seems like one of those things where taking advice is easier than actually implementing it haha. But it's a fun part of kayaking so I can't wait to get better. Always great to hear from you DFW!
Great video, Gatewood! I've wanted to paddle the Pedernales, but figured it would be tough to time good flow. I'm anxious to hear more about the Remote Designs gear!
Thanks Michael! The perd is a tough one, might not ever go back but it’s a quintessential Texas river for sure. Our flow was at 200cfs which is a good level. Any lower and your dragging a lot. Remote Designs is full steam ahead! The manufacturing run is going on now
Sick stuff dude! Also bring an ultralight rod with some 1/8oz rooster tails, small Rapala, and some classic 1/16oz beetle spins. You'll have a blast fishing with the extra variety. Keep it up!
Thank you, marc! I'll have to check those out and add the lures to my tackle box. Fishing has really caught my attention, a great supplement to running these rivers. Shoot, makes for some good meals too!
Absolutely LOVE your videos! I can’t wait to get out on the kayak myself! You all are so humble and filled with joy! The effort that you put into your videos dose not go unnoticed. Glad you had a great trip!

That means so much, thank you! Well dang I'd say you did pretty well with the fish out in TN. It would be awesome to meet you out on the river for sure. Cheers!

It was pretty nice! I was determined to actually use all of the fish taco ingredients, and we lucked out! This one was definitely way out in the middle of nowhere. Thanks for tuning in!
Fantastic adventure GW!!! Y'all are crazy picking that take out point LOL. Congrats on the bass. Nothing better than fresh fish cooked on the riverside with good friends. I'm hoping to go on my next over nighter in the late summer/early fall. Until then it's lake fishing for me. Someone below mentioned Texas Rig setups. I agree. You can fish soft plastics like the craw you were throwing or conventional rubber worms, lizards, etc. That Chatter Bait is usually also a good lure, but you just never know what the fish want that day. Keep the awesome videos coming!
Hey thank you for all of the protips! I'll have to add these to the tackle box and better hone in my texas rig. I tied the craw on texas rig and low and behold, actually got a bite pretty quick. I never really gave the chatterbait a chance in the more clear water. What color do you usually go for on the chatter? Also, what're your favorite colors for soft plastics? Hope you've been well!
@@GatewoodBrown Man, when it comes to bait color choices in relation to water color/clarity, I've read so much info that seems to contradict itself it can make you batty. Great video! Really appreciate how you show the highs and the lows on an adventure. Hiking along and swimming in the river at PFSP is one of my favorite pastimes.
The highs and lows are what adventuring is all about! This trip definitely had some of the deepest lows but that stunning landscape and good crew more than made up for it
Finally and well worth the wait. Great photography and content. I guess my “can’t be west Texas comment” proved wrong. That mini griptilian knife is a good one. I have one with yellow scales.
Thank you, George! Yeah whenever there is a flash flood all of those Hill Country rivers can turn chalky real quick. This one will blue up later on though.
That looks like a blast Gatewood!! The rapids looked like so much fun. The fish tacos looked yummy!! I’m very interested in the dry bags. Carrying the kayaks had to be brutal. Really cool video bro 👍✌️
Hey Jason! it sure was until the take out hike! haha yessir the tacos were delicious and the rapids were powerful. I don't think as big as your trip but still fun regardless. The dry bags should be ready here in a couple months. Stay tuned!
Good stuff Gatewood, nice to see it's not just me that has ridiculous takeouts and put ins. One of these days we all need to cross paths. Maybe an Idaho trip needs to happen bring the Carolina boys a little farther west
Hey Matt! Gah those hikes up and down the river bank can get brutal. Glad that’s behind us! I’m thinking Idaho would be amazing...the frank church wilderness looks like our spot!
Another great video! I'm sure this was a trip you've had in your back pocket for awhile - just had to wait for the rain. I've never kayaked the Pedernales...guess that's another one to add to the list. Can't wait to get back on the Medina river again (another trip inspired by you). I've been kayaking the upper Guadalupe between Bergheim and Nichols Landing with friends over a couple of weekends at the beginning of June. Can't get enough!
Thanks! Yeah the pedernales has been on my mind for awhile now. So stoked we finally got to run it! My advice would be to start at Reimers ranch and paddle upstream. The longer stretch we did was brutal! Incredible, just hard work haha. The medina needs rain bad!
Another great one! I love the rock formations at the end of your trip! That looks like a cool place to hike into and hang the hammock for the night, especially if it is right along the river. No better way to eat fresh caught fish. It sure beats Mountain House!
Hey JAT! Good to see ya my man. Those grotto's are pretty sweet! There were so many cypress trees that I'd love to hand a hammock from. Just none by our campsite haha. The fresh catch was a treat compared to mountain house meals for sure!
Glad to have you onboard pikachu! The Colorado is quite a different place depending on section but regardless, nearly whole length is great! Well except the part in downtown Austin lol
You need to do the Guadeloupe! If you want to try it out let me know and I can give you some tips. I’ve floated it thousands of times and live 1 minute from the river!
Going kayaking next Thursday. My first real paddle. But. I am paddling with my sister a 20+ year kayaker. A while back I shared one of your video with her and she has watched several. I have always heard of the Pedernales but didn't know that it didn't have flow year around. Thanks for the video!! Stay safe.
you're going to have a blast Tom! Really to cool to see everything come full circle. Your sister will be great to have around and show you the ropes. Yep, its usually a trickle in that stretch which I've always thought was strange given how many springs are around
Bro, you make great videos! My husband and I have been watching your channel for a few weeks now and can’t wait to make some trips based off your videos! Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Great video! You've inspired my wife and I to plan a kayak camping trip soon. Unfortunately the rivers that are local (Fort Worth) don't compare to the amazing rivers you guys paddle on in central Texas! In cloudy water you want to use dark lures and probably a smaller hook if you want to catch more than just bass.
Man that is so cool, Brandon! Ya know, Fort Worth is pretty close to some epic paddling (Upper Brazos, Llano, etc.) so check some of those out! Thanks for the tips, I'll try to implement them next trip. Out of curiosity, why are dark lures better in cloudy water?
@@GatewoodBrownWhen water visibility is low fish can only see less than a foot or so. Having a dark lures creates a better contrast vs lighter lures. A lot of lure companies have charts for uses of their different colors. Using something with sounds/flashes can also help in more than just murky water too! Thanks for the tip! I'll start looking for a good spot on the Brazos.
Thanks. for the great video Your videos bring back some 40 year old memories, canoe camping for 250 miles in Northern Michigan with dad and 4 brothers, some white water down in WV. Great times with great folks was always the best of days. How did that H10 hold up to the rapids, rocks and the head on collision in the other video lol? Im getting a new one at a dam good price. I know you moved onto sit-on type. But I need comfort, bad knees, rods and screws in the back two shoulder surgeries. I cant sit with my legs straight out. I will be doing mostly slower water now, just float and trout fish. Im trying to down size from a my 30 year old plastic 17 ft canoe I been using every year. I would sit in the middle backwards. But the wind would reek havoc. Its good to see you young folks living "Living The Dream" Thanks for any insight and Keep on Keeping on
Awesome video man, I think it’s so cool to run these little unknown rivers! Your videography, commentary and drone footage is just stellar! I’ve been learning a few things from watching your videos! I think me you and Pete Beck need to plan a trip together LOL!
Hey thanks Jason! These lightly paddled streams always hide unique sights. Haha I appreciate the kind words. It’s a labor of love, lots of hours in the seat developing style and what not. Your videos are great too! We sure do...I’ve been trying to link back up with Pete for quite some time now. We will make it happen!
Awesome you got to use that hammock. I'm gonna be getting that one as well. Looked like y'all had a great time. I felt like I was with y'all. Great editing as always! Have a wonderful night my friend.
Thank you! So stoked to have you along for the ride. We love getting out there and not taking it too seriously. That’s what’s great about kayak camping!
@@GatewoodBrown it’s inspiring! I have a kayak I’m not using…. If I can figure out how it could attach to my airplane (I use it to fly and land sandbars on the river) it would be neat! Cheers 🍻
just watched you fishing with Nick, realized I had watched of few of yours earlier, subscribed this time.....GREAT HILL COUNTRY VIDEO....Lived in San Anton back in the 70s, sure miss the Hill Country...
Right on David! My apologies on the late comment. It’s been crazy for a few days! So cool to hear you’ve watched some of the other vids!! I’ll be coming out with my nick vid soon. The hill country is great for sure
All I can say is wow! Good video! I definitely like the catch and cook part And don't think I did not catch the customized red cup! Lots of interesting new gear you were using! Great to see your outdoor adventures and thanks for taking the time to film and edit them! You ability to edit and narrate your video is off the chart! Thanks for sharing them and as always looking forward to your next adventure! Rick from Virginia
Hey Rick! Thanks for watching another! I've been wanting to catch and cook for awhile now so definitely happy it worked out. I'm hopeful it'll be a mainstay in the videos! I think you'll like the Remote Designs stuff, it's what I envision to be the in-house gear for the channel. I've been working hard to design and figure everything out to get a nice supply chain going. As always, thanks for being apart of this community from day 1! See ya soon
Keep bringing us the videos! I have lived in FL my whole life and love the river / exploration life. I just bought a new ultralight solo canoe so I can explore some of the more intricate waterways in my state. Texas is def on my list of destinations thanks to your channel! Also interested in your dry bag launch, I am always looking around for more ways to keep my cameras and camping gear dry while on the water.
Will do! River exploration is one of the best ways to escape crowds for sure. Sounds like your new setup will be perfect! The Florida springs are one of my favorite places to visit so I’m jealous it’s your backyard! When you do come to Texas I’d bring a beater kayak or rent something, these rocks will mess up your canoe real quick!
@GatewoodBrown exactly, of you wanna kayake with peddled and standing..stay away! Lol.. if you like canoeing, enjoy sitting inside a vessel, this is good 👍
Dude you guys have some good footage. I just now came across your channel and really enjoy it. Me and some of my friends are planning on doing some kayaking and camping on the river and i think watching more of your vids would help us out on preparing for our trip.. Again good stuff man
I appreciate that TSF! Thanks for the kind words my man. Definitely watch them all, I think it'll help manage expectations too haha. Things will go wrong but if you just plan for no more than 10 miles a day you should be fine. Texas has some of the best rivers in the world, I truly believe that.
The fish are setting below the shoals. The more crooked/ curved the shoal is, the better. If the shoal is crooked because of boulders, when you get to the bottom, if there’s a good size rock, there will be an eddy behind it. You go down the shoal and when you get to the bottom, let the eddy spin the kayak around so you’re facing back up river and throw in the eddy right beside the current.
I'm new I'm glad I found your channel. I live an hour from Houston on the coast. I like to paddle the marshes. Unfortunately I dont have anyone to kayak with because non of my friends dont have one. But I love watching your videos I feel like I'm in them. Hopefully I can plan a kayak trip with some friends one day. Great work👍🏼
Welcome to the channel! Yeah it’s tough to find people with kayaks. Check out some local Facebook paddling groups! I think there are some in the Houston area
It’s coming brotha! Such an epic day out on the bay, can’t wait to go more often. RX angler really knows how to fish man, he crushed it. Hope you’ve been well!
I'm guessing you did a stretch above Pedernales Falls. My wife and I paddled the river from the falls down to the nearest crossing sometime in the early 80's. It was a long day, maybe 15 miles even though we made good time in our whitewater kayaks. I wanted to run the falls, but it was illegal at the time. Maybe it still is. Thanks for another excellent video.
Cool. I remember lots of fun rapids, but I don't remember the put in and take out being nearly that hard. But then, we had no camping gear and my wife's kayak weighed 17lbs. I just now got clued in that you make dry bags. Mine are pretty old and I got a permit this year to do the wild and scenic section of the John Day in Oregon. You may be getting some orders. :)
Thanks Michael! Yeah we should’ve definitely taken that road. Didn’t realize it until after the fact haha. But it was also closed while we were there so that didn’t help either
Hey KW! We put in the work but got to have the adventure as well. This river is cool, but I think I'll retire from it for now haha. Hope you've been well!
It's awesome to see you and your buddies get out man on a kayak trip. I know you have fun. I know you had a blast on the Rapids. I'm glad you didn't get hurt when you slipped on those rocks. Man those were some slippery rocks.I'm opposed to go out on a kayak trip this weekend myself. I'm hoping nothing will happened to me and I got two broken feet right now. Wish I could find some type of Footwear to wear to protect my feet. The fish that got cooked look good man. Man the take out was something else. Look like the take out cause you to have a blowout on your sandal.Looking forward to your next one.
We had a blast Mack. The rapids were so fun since a lot of water was rushing over them. Your heart must've skipped a beat when you saw us eat it on those rocks. Man I was scared that my wrist blew out. Luckily nothing serious. I hope your feet continue to heal!
@@GatewoodBrown yes my heart did skipping a Beat when I saw you slip on that rock. I'm just glad man that you and your buddy are okay and doing better than I am. Yes my feet are starting to get better since I had the surgery on them. I just wish they made my feet narrow instead of me keeping very wide feet.Thank you so much man I appreciate that it means a lot to me. My youngest son is having a blast pushing me around in a wheelchair anywhere we go.
@@GatewoodBrown yes I agree with you progress is what we want. Couple of more weeks and I should be able to get the cast off. I have five boys and a granddaughter so I'm trying to take turns with all of them. My granddaughter can't push me but I let her do other things for me because I have a broken shoulder too. In fact she's helping me load up my kayak for the trip I'm going on this weekend.
Cool video man! I'm about to head down to the lower Guadalupe in a week. If you're just starting out fishing then fish with anything that spins, flashes or rattles. It's easier to catch fish on these baits.
I’ll have to check it out, but if it’s got some fun rapids you’ll have a blast! The best way to improve editing is by editing! Might as well start now so you can look back on trips down the road
Great videos Gatewood. You’ve inspired me to try kayak camping. I’m planning to try to make a trip in September. I have a question if you don’t mind answering, how do you know where to camp along the river to not trespass? Thanks for the videos, keep them coming!
That’s so cool to hear, thank you! Research your states navigability laws and understand them to a T. This will allow you to discern what is public and what is trespass.
looks like y'all put down somewhere at Pedernales Fall State Park crossed Hamilton Pool Rd and hiked up the trail of Hamilton Pool or Reimers Ranch. I've live about 15-20 away from those areas.
Came across your channel last a few days ago and I been burning up my battery. I noticed you talked in a video about equipment reviews im curious about that whole espresso set up looks pretty good. Anyway I live in East Texas and our rivers are very dirty but maybe I can plan on kayaking some of them Central Texas rivers. Love the videos!
Thank you! It’s called a nanopresso and can be found on eBay. I personally like to use a mocha pot since it is the most straightforward method for espresso on the river
Bro if that’s the park I’m thinking of, you could’ve paddled maybe a quarter mile more and there would have been a ramp where you could’ve taken out and had your vehicle right there to load up and out! Anyways awesome video once again!
Thanks Josh! Wow I've wanted to paddle up that direction so bad. We went to a west point graduation and I was drawn to the area. Happy paddling! I'll be sure to reach out if plans develop
You are my real-life action hero for doing the Ped! I always figured it was either a walker (kills you slow) or a beast (kills you fast). You proved it can be done! What was your flow rate?
Haha thank you! That section is straight up savage! I've heard of folks that have to walk a large amount of it. We were lucky the rapids weren't too out of control. We did this at 150cfs. Down from 8000cfs the week before.
We have those too! Haha yeah I’m biased but I think it’s got some of the best paddling in the US. Search the Devils River and the Pecos River. Those are on my list to do
Oh man wow. I guess it was worth it in the end cas that was an amazing story. I definitely feel the pain of having to Portage long distances. #happypaddling my friend.
Hey Anthony! It did super well. Ryan like his as well. The tree I tied on to was trash but literally everything was a sapling haha. Can’t wait to sleep in it again
Yeah! It’s a brand I started to better serve the needs of outdoorsman who utilize dry bags on the river and beyond! Beat thing you can do is order one, use it, and if you like it then spread the word. Thanks!
Another great video! I gotta get to the upper reaches of that river. You should take up a fly rod; me and my buddies are finding it to be super effective on the hill country rivers.
Thanks Eric! I’ve never spent much time on the fly but it’s definitely something I plan on learning. What species do you target fly fishing the Texas hill country?
@@GatewoodBrown Its great for everything, from sunfish to bass to carp and gar. I even did well with the white bass run this past spring. If you size your rod weight to the fish its always fun.
Yeah, check out Aaron Reed's recent book flyfishingaustin.thelocalangler.com/. It has some good general info and can give you some ideas for floats in the Austin area. Bet you could hit him up for more info too.

Stay tuned!
Good stuff enjoyed it!! The Texas summer heat can be brutal but when fall gets here i plan to take on some these river trips.
Thanks so much! The heat is brutal like you said. Good thing the springs were nice and cold. Fall is by far our favorite time to go explore
@@GatewoodBrown I've been doing research on the salmon rivers and which sections are more expedition kayak friendly, then whitewater kayaks.
Ahhh the salmon that runs through Stanley? I went to sun valley this winter and desperately want to go back. Winter or summer
You guys are awesome!
Thank you, Rhonda!
Amen.
Woah! All the challenges make it all worth it. I am so impressed with what y'all go thru for these experiences. Wow.
Yes! Challenges make the trip that much more rewarding for sure. Definitely helps with planning of subsequent trips too lol
Your videos are keeping me stoked! This is a gorgeous river! Thanks man
Thank you for the kind words! Comments like yours keep us stoked to go on trips
Nice see you again with these amazing video edits 👍🏼 next time you planing another trip let me know 🙏🏼
Thank you, DJ! This one was unique for sure. Can't wait to get out on another once we get some rain.
Y’all make me want to do this. I live along the Colorado River in Texas and want to do this one day. I love your channel! New subscriber! 😊👍
Glad to have you onboard pikachu! The Colorado is quite a different place depending on section but regardless, nearly whole length is great! Well except the part in downtown Austin lol
Z-Man TRD worms and weedless mushroom jigheads are all you need for central Texas river fishing. Awesome stuff, keep it up!
I’ll add those to the tackle box!! Thanks my man
You need to do the Guadeloupe! If you want to try it out let me know and I can give you some tips. I’ve floated it thousands of times and live 1 minute from the river!
The Upper Guad is on our list for sure. What's your favorite section?
Love, love, love your vids! Thanks for sharing your adventures and looking forward to a few of my own.
Thank you so much for the kind words!! I hope you have a wonderful trip!
Thank you so much! Y’all will have a blast getting out on the rivers and exploring.
I've subbed a few days ago and have been just pushing ypur channel to all my Yak buddies.
You're the man! Thank you for that. It's the best way to get these videos around. Sharing is the ultimate compliment too.
Thanks. for the great video
Your videos bring back some 40 year old memories, canoe camping for 250 miles in Northern Michigan with dad and 4 brothers, some white water down in WV.
Its good to see you young folks living "Living The Dream" Thanks for any insight and Keep on Keeping on
Wow that’s a special place it sounds. Michigan and WV are stunning backdrops for adventure
Another great adventure, keep living! Enjoyed as always.
Thanks my guys! Always have to keep exploring and living it up in nature. Hopefully we can paddle together sometime
Awesome you got to use that hammock. I'm gonna be getting that one as well. Looked like y'all had a great time. I felt like I was with y'all. Great editing as always! Have a wonderful night my friend.
Thanks BF! Always good to hear from you. I think the hammock is out of stock right now which is unfortunate. Glad to bring you along with this video!
Great video! I'm getting inspired to take a kayak camping trip to the upper Guadalupe this weekend!
Have fun! That stretch looks beautiful
Love watching your videos. It takes allot of time and effort to make a great video like yours.
Thank you Roy! Man I appreciate the kind words as it does take a lot to make these videos. But I love it!
Beautiful place with hansome guys ✌🏻😊 neat quality video iwish my video clear as this .. ❤️👏🏻😊 waiting for nxt video💕😳
Thank you! It’s a wonderful place
I've been binge-watching your videos and love the editing work. Cool adventures!
Cheers 🍻
Awesome video bro!! I've had my fair share of tough walks with the yaks, but its totally worth it. Keep up the videos man 🤙🤙
Thanks my man! the hard walks only mean less people will be there! Or at least that's what I tell myself. More on the way!
Totally inspiring video! I have a kayak, I have a tent and I'm going when the weather improves!
Time to get on our there!
just watched you fishing with Nick, realized I had watched of few of yours earlier, subscribed this time.....GREAT HILL COUNTRY VIDEO....Lived in San Anton back in the 70s, sure miss the Hill Country...
Right on David! My apologies on the late comment. It’s been crazy for a few days! So cool to hear you’ve watched some of the other vids!! I’ll be coming out with my nick vid soon. The hill country is great for sure
I love the slowmo part with some folk music. great video
Slow mo is my favorite!!
Thanks for showing the Ascend H10 through some rough waters. I like that "Hybrid" design.
I love these videos its the reason I subscribed, one of my favorite channels on UA-cam
Thank you Chad!
Another awesome video...keep them coming and stay safe.
Thank you so much! More on the way...
Hey GB another fantastic adventure. At over 6K subs your are gonna have to monetize soon - then come the sponsorships! Congrats on another great edit.
Just started monetizing! It’s a new era. All $20 of it! Haha have fun on your trip my man
All I can say is wow!
@@GatewoodBrown oh yes, no canoe for those TX rivers... def a pack raft or a kayak!
I also have that ascend kayake. It's kinda like a mini canoe. Kinda heavy and big, perfect for hauling gear and being one lake fishing
Agreed! It’s good for short distances hauling gear but other than that I’m a sit on top kayak guy now
@GatewoodBrown exactly, of you wanna kayake with peddled and standing..stay away! Lol.. if you like canoeing, enjoy sitting inside a vessel, this is good 👍
Dude you guys have some good footage.
Super interesting content never heard of this river excited to give it a shot
It’s tricky logistically!
Always up for a challenge
Great videos you inspired me to get A kyak my self great quality and a great Chanel over all.
Man that is so cool to hear. You’re going to love it
Once again man your videos are so well put together!!!
Thank you! I certainly try and I’m glad it shows. Cheers!
This is prime information. Thank you! I’ll give that a try when we get back out on the river
@@GatewoodBrown how do yall find spots to kayak camp. Is there like national parks yall go to or just find a river and camp on that ?
Man can't wait to see your video where you do saltwater fishing!!
This was the section immediately below the falls! Basically from the park to reimers ranch. Thanks for checking it out!
If you paddle just a quarter mile further into Reimer's where yall hiked out it has a paved road up to the parking lot! Awesome videos
Thanks Michael! Yeah we should’ve definitely taken that road. Didn’t realize it until after the fact haha. But it was also closed while we were there so that didn’t help either
Dude! Just discovered your channel from RX Angler. Absolutely awesome video! I"ve been dreaming of doing this kind of stuff!
Right on John! I appreciate the kind words and stopping by. So many cool places in Texas, let me know how your adventures go!
Awesome trip Gatewood! You guys definitely had to work for this one.
That’s great to hear Mack. Progress is what we want. Your son will be nice and strong after all of the pushing!
You have a good family around you!
Cool video man! I'm about to head down to the lower Guadalupe in a week. If you're just starting out fishing then fish with anything that spins, flashes or rattles. It's easier to catch fish on these baits.
Thanks for the advice my man! I’ll be sure to try that out
Some occasions. Beer is what is required !!! . . . . . .but the Espressos are a CLEVER idea !!! LoL : )
Yes! The espresso hits different on the river. Definitely a delight
Love your videos, did 11.2miles and camping on the Llano last two days! Best experience of my life!!!
Dang that's a nice trip! Which stretch did you do? As you know, that's a favorite of ours!
@@GatewoodBrown 1871 to simonsville
Those are some slippery rocks. It reminds me of the rocks on the Frio River.
That’s exactly right!
Cant wait to hit the rapids on Bois Brule river in Wisconsin! Hopefully they're as fun as the Rapids in all your videos. I just suck at editing haha
This will allow you to discern what is public and what is trespass.
great vid!!! Also, if you want to catch bass, look for underwater structures like fallen logs and rocks. keep up the great videos!!!
Thanks for the tips! I’ll be sure to work on where I target
looks like y'all put down somewhere at Pedernales Fall State Park crossed Hamilton Pool Rd and hiked up the trail of Hamilton Pool or Reimers Ranch. I've live about 15-20 away from those areas.
Yeah the state park was our launch! Gnarly hike down to the water
Yeah we only realized that once we got the kayaks up to the parking lot. Total rookie mistake haha
Gatewood I love your videos man. Im up here near the Adirondacks and it is a kayakers paradise. Let me know if you are ever in the area!
Thanks Josh! Wow I've wanted to paddle up that direction so bad. We went to a west point graduation and I was drawn to the area. Happy paddling! I'll be sure to reach out if plans develop
Love these videos, keep it up!
I appreciate that! Will do
So Gate, where was that put in point? August 2023 = dry Ped bed!!!
Nice adventure. I would love to paddle in Texas.
You should! It's a very underrated state for paddling
@@GatewoodBrown When I hear Texas I think Oil & Horses. Never crossed my mind that paddling can be so good. :)
Definitely was! One of the more adventurous trips we’ve executed. Hilarious stories from it!
Some of the best stories come from those trips. 👍
Man y’all put in some work on that one. Well worth it I’m sure.
Yessir we did! But like you said, very worth it
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching Rob! This was a tough one haha
Your camera work is getting better every video. Nice man, really good story!
Thank you FFT! Always good to keep the improvement ongoing
I use that exact same tackle box on my trips also great place to put your maps
Totally agree! I actually lost the tackle box on this trip lol
Looks like y’all had a blast man that’s all that matters
That’s the truth!
Another fun video. How did that Ridge Outdoors hammock work out? Loving mine so far.
Hey Anthony! It did super well. Ryan like his as well. The tree I tied on to was trash but literally everything was a sapling haha. Can’t wait to sleep in it again
Also, tell me more about this Remote Design idea and what I can do to help you promote?
Yeah! It’s a brand I started to better serve the needs of outdoorsman who utilize dry bags on the river and beyond! Beat thing you can do is order one, use it, and if you like it then spread the word. Thanks!
What brand / model kayak is that you carry??? I like it. Looks more like a canoe... thanks
Awesome video Gatewood! Were did you guys pull out? It was beautiful
Took out at reimers ranch. Definitely worth a day hike
Dang so you’re catching everything on it. Fishing has been a blast so far, can’t wait to try it on the fly
Yeah, check out Aaron Reed's recent book flyfishingaustin.thelocalangler.com/. It has some good general info and can give you some ideas for floats in the Austin area. Bet you could hit him up for more info too.
Great stuff!
Thank you!
Very nice. The only thing missing is the wine.
Lyria that’s right! We didn’t bring any on this trip but definitely should have.
Any chance you could tell me good drop in and pick up points for the medina river?
Just found your channel and I am really enjoying your vids. Have you all ever done the Devils River, either fishing or just kayaking?
Thank you! We’d like to do the devils next year. Just waiting for flow rates to improve and an opportunity to go
Been wanting to go down there didn’t know that river usually dries up
Yeah it’s usually not paddleable. This was pushing it
