I had to cut with a grinder, an inch or two off the seat tube on my marlin because of the same issue. I cut it down to where there was just enough room for the clamp to sit comfortably down against that welded support piece between the seat tube and the top tube. It instantly felt better. It was so high that my fully extended 150mm dropper didn't fit between me @6ft and the bike. Never had a problem after the mod.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, you can’t expect All Mountain/ Enduro like performance out of down-country bike. It’s made for XC, fast and efficient.
You mentioned the Yeti feels really good on the tech climbs, because this is what the bike is designed for. It’s not designed to bomb down rough DH trails like a toboggan. Since it seems like you enjoy descending the most, buy a long, slack frame with at least 140 rear /150 front, if not more travel. At that point you’d feel better descending even without the crazy high end parts.
I understand you do this stuff for entertainment and as a business, but you have to understand what a bike is designed for, and that no amount of fancy high end parts is going to change that drastically.
I'm okay with sacrificing the descent, but I want a bike to climb well, and jump well. That's all that matters to me and my riding. I found that 120 is a great amount of travel for hitting man made jumps, but I could be wrong! I'm researching a 140/150 though! Thanks!
@@EvansMTBSaga if you are moving to the Bentonville area a trail bike to consider is the YT Izzo. Out of all of his bikes, this is Rich Drew’s favorite. This bike climbs great, and has a great long ride feel. It is not a race bike like the Yeti, so you will get more comfort out of it while having a playful and nimble bike. There are many others like it in its category. It may be the all around bike you are looking for
Yt izzo, spur or a properly built sb115.
@@EvansMTBSaga Have you tried DW Link bike Ibis Ripley? That sounds like your ideal bike.
@@ThisGuyRides but... then your stuck with an IBIS lol.
My fav bike channel on yt love the mix of mechanics and riding and great analysis and opinions
Love to see your videos getting more and more entertaining. Keep it up my dude
Love your channel! I agree on the seat stay problem with the D7.
I've wondered if getting shorter cranks would help, but it seems like the smallest common size is 165mm, and the bike already comes with 170mm (less than 1/4 inch difference).
Initially I wondered about cutting down the seat stay a bit, but even that doesn't have much room to decrease before hitting either the triangular reinforcement, or bottoming out the dropper post (unless a smaller one is used).
I'm hoping for the future, they find a way to reposition the reinforcement, so that a shorter seat tube and dropper can be used.
5dev makes cranks 135mm 😂 they probably have to keep it that long to prevent cracking, hopefully they do tests on all that
You have become on of those youtubers who makes me really happy and and actually excited to watch the content when they upload👍
The sense of "compliance" on the Yeti is likely from the high frequency vibration dampening from the carbon frame.
Good luck with the move dude! Looking forward to more new content!
Another great video Evan! Stoked to hear you love the geometry on the D7 so much. The build looks awesome 😍
Hopefully the next D series lowers the seat tube height and slackens out a bit more, something similar to the Transition Spur. Then make a D8 model with SLX and Fox 34 or Rockshox Pike 130mm. That would be a great bike for most people!
question. What water bottle is the best fit for stock bike? cause I can't find one that fits and Iv already spent to much T_T. Or is there a way to screw it on the bottom? Is there like a secret mount I don't know about? lol

Love the Siskiu content man. The D7 is a great entry dual sus and I love mine. Glad to hear you reaffirm my thoughts 😅
this was a cool video, I just bought my wife the D7 and its cool to see what are some useful upgrades. The D7 seems very capable straight out of the box.
Always so excited when you post new content.
this is such a good video, you always do such a good job installing these parts.

love it you have come a long way and you are my favourite youtuber there is now
Cheers Jack!
Several of my friends and I run various Polygon bikes one has a T8, two have T7s and one has the D7. All are great for what you spend but out of the frame choices I really prefer the T series for the relaxed feel and lower seat tube
hey dude I first started watching you about a year ago and I was kinda iffy about your content, but I love your stuff now 🤙 cheers!
One of your videos was recommended to me a few weeks ago while I was sitting around sick with Covid. I've watched a handful since. I've never seen someone switch around parts so much, it kinda makes me laugh. However I'm impressed with your mechanic skills. I fall short when it comes to wheel building. I've replaced broken spokes, but I dont have the patience to build a whole wheel from the hub up.
I'm swapping parts to keep the videos coming, that's just what I do here 😁 thanks for watching. Wheel building is a blast. It's just a pattern you follow, I definitely recommend trying it
Awesomeness 😁 that video was so good I just got a polygon siskiu d6 from bikes online and Im waiting to get it this just makes me want it more.
I don’t know. I think every one of those geo measurements are different enough to feel when riding. If I move reach or stack by 5 mm, I can feel it. When you combine incremental changes on a bunch of measurements it’s bound to feel different.
Polygon siskiu is a very well built frame.
You said it before this Polygon fits you perfectly and it has the fastest time of your bikes.
Thanks dude! Polygon is awesome. I hope to try a long travel bike of theirs soon
Three numbres on the Polygon that make it a more stable bike... Reach, BB Height, and Wheelbase. Those relative numbers on the Polygon all correspond to a much more stable ride at speed when compared to the Yeti. Additionally, your local trails/riding style probably fits well with a 66.5deg HTA. The stack height may be a non-factor depending on what you run for spacers, but a taller stack will create a more upright ride, shorter stack makes the bike more accepting to steering input. Lastly, frame weight doesn't matter. Wheels and tires are the most important components, followed by geo, then suspension quality.
Hi I really love this channel I’ve been watching for a few weeks now and I really like this channel and watching you please keep making videos
OH HE LIKED MY COMMENT OMG
Dude ur vids are so entertaining and useful keep up the good work 👍
we were missing this bike!
Me too!
Thanks for the shoutout! Id suggest you try out a ripmo, climbs better than the d7 and descends way better. Ripmo AF's are on sale right now too. If thats too much travel try the ripley
To shorten the seat tube you must cut the Frame down. It isn't ideal but it works.
Hey man! Thanks to you, I actually chipped a tooth of my cassette (not joking). Still love you, keep making the great content!
finally we get to see this bike i missed it
So nice of ur twin to help u put on ur front wheel while u did rear wheel
damn dude what an amazing garage and tools you got buddy
I think a longer travel bike would be good for you. More travel doesn't mean it climbs worse. I rented a Santa Cruz 5010 (140/130mm f/r) in Sedona and my brother rented a Trek Remedy 8 (160/150mm f/r), and the Remedy climbed way better, and also descended way better. My brother liked it so much he bought his own Remedy. Plus another advantage is that it's big enough for Whistler. I can't use my 120mm downcountry bike at whistler, and it wouldn't make much sense for me to use my 180/170mm f/r eBike there either, I'd have to rent a DH bike.
I think it would be good for you to check out the Trek Fuel bikes (140/130mm f/r), since you like 29ers. Or even a Slash (170/170mm), I've heard great things about them.
I never ridden carbon wheels ever, own two bike's one I plan on selling (Gt Aggressor's Pro) no buyers in over nine months, had to slowly upgrade the bike the most recent upgrade was getting a matching tubeless wheels, and even asked Berm Peak for advice heard nothing from them. Have encountered buyers who either non-responsive or no-shows in Orange County CA for $700 until 9/5, and it's disrespectful of them wasting my time trying to make a living while they think it's funny. Definitely am liking this video
Yeah I hate when they flake out. I sold a lot of stuff for the move and so many people flake
@@EvansMTBSaga Yeah it is what it is, now I have to deal with the Marin San Quentin 2 making grinding noise on the rear which is a Shimano Mt-400-b, inspected it pitting on the cones not on the cups which was a relief for me, and need to replace them with new ones.
Always enjoy your vids! Congrats on exciting move. Crazy how far the channel has grown. I’ve enjoyed the journey from the Axum days. Feeling some Bentonville bike changes are a foot? Or are you yeti to make to make a decision? 😉
Haha nice play on words 😂 I tried selling the yeti, no one wanted it, so I'm "stuck" with it. Poor me right? 😂
D7 looking sick!
Rip cassette tooth though
The seat tube issue is common, but several brands learned the lesson, many still haven't. But I have Geometron G1, I love it great enduro bike, but can set it up as a dh bike too, even run mullet setup, or 27.5 or 29er, I have it in stock 29er setup and love it.
I was googling something the other day, maybe lights or mud guards, and I came across your site! You do pretty good reviews!
@@EvansMTBSagaThank you. Those mudguards get a lot of attention. May hate the looks. I don't care.
if you go too high bike will feel off. I have a 19 trek fuel i have down stroked to make a short travel version more downcountry now. Lifted the front end by 20mm with a crown race spacer to try to slaken the bike because the older frames a little steep. even with the bike in the low setting it just felt off. wrecked twice in two rides and damn near had a bad one sliding off a fast flow trail. Handling just wasn't there anymore with the bb being higher and raising the center of gravity. At 10mm it feels great though.
I have the same bike, upgraded it as well. Fork travel increased to 160mm. Same issue, seat tube is to high for me I have to upgrade my seat post to a lower stack height (fox transfer). Overall I still love my bike...
I had similar result with my Marley and other hardtails that cost me 4 times as much. the Marley is the only one still around
badass sythwave tune at 3:58. Wish you could share ur soundtrack information😎😎 also ur overall vid editing is spot on👍
That is quite the seat tube !!🤣
Beautiful absolutely beautiful!
I said before how that Yeti seemed to be a lot of faff and still not right. I bought a £2800 bike last year (a Kellys Swag 50) and literally haven't had to change a thing so far. Those Polygons look awesome for the money, I was going to buy the D9 but it was out of stock everywhere in the UK so went with the Kellys from my local shop.
You should try upgrading a Trek remedy 7!
That is my personal bike, and I love it.
I just put a new 160 mm fork on it, (it was 140)
I watched your review of the D7 while I was considering purchasing it. I eventually settled on the D7se which is basicly the same bike but with a boost Suntour raidon front fork (maybe an upgrade over the recon?)
I'm also the same height as you being 175cm and I went for the medium frame, glad I did as seeing you struggle with the seat height and also not being able to use it fully extended would really stress me out. Thankfully on the medium the seat at it's max height is a perfect fit and it wont over extend my knees.
I have only done a few upgrades, I went tubeless and put 2.4" magic mary and 2.35" hans dampf Scwalbes in soft trail compound, Ergon GA3 grips (those stock entity ones were agony!) and a Mudhugger front evo mudguard.
I love this bike it rides so well on the roads and trails I ride on. I honestly can't see myself needing another bike for many years, the D7 just ticks all the boxes for me.
Now looking at getting my wife one as shes on a hardtail at the moment.
Oh yeah I loved my D7. Really fun ride and can really ride anything and everything. Good to hear about the upgrades, you must be riding some loam! I'm working on getting a DSE again since I sold my D7 for my Bentonville move
@@EvansMTBSaga Thanks for the response :)
I'm from the UK so knobby tyres are usually the way to go as most trails are very muddy for 8 months of the year. The D7se came fitted with Maxxis rekons which are more XC based but these quickly became clogged with mud on my usual trails and became very slick. The swap to some beefy grippy Scwalbes was a game changer for me.
Would love to see you get hold of the D7se, I got it at such a bargain price too. the D7 at the time was £1.400, the D7se was on special for £909 and I had a coupon code for a further 15% off. honestly I don't think I could have brought a better bike for anywhere near that money.
One tip, always grease the threads when installing pedals!
Mi vídeo favorito ❣️ ojalá deje mi D7 parecida a esa algún día 😊
I think Evan should go to a lift access bike park sometime
Ayoo new video keeps up the good work.

I’m already subscribed, so don’t have to worry about chipping a tooth off my cassette, but I do have a chipped off tooth on my chainring 😂😂
Haha dang! Does it ride okay? I'm debating on selling it with a chipped tooth
@@EvansMTBSaga it rides ok thanks, can’t even notice it’s there.Unless a dangerous amount of teeth are chipped off then it really won’t have much of an affect on overall performance
Seems like you decided to move to Bentonville after all?? Stoked for you bro, your quality is top notch, keep at it 💪
Thanks dude! Less than 30 days away
Evan u can cut the seat tube down to lower the stand over hight
Evan you should move to Boise id we have good jumps good trails and it gets kinda warm in the summer but there’s mountains nearby to ride at when it’s warm
Man ive been watching since the schwinn axum, youve come far!
I do think you'd suit a 150/160 bike. Bikes like the stumpy EVO. Frames are very light and can be setup steep or slack as.
Based off of everything you’ve been saying, I just think you purchased the wrong Yeti. The SB130 would have been the better fitting bike for you when sticking with the Yeti. That’s what I went with specifically for the reasons you describe. Great middle of the road set up. I crush the single track where I live in FL, but Also have the availability to have a blast on more DH/enduro based areas without issue.
I was also looking at the YT IZZO, GG Gnarvana, and Stumpy. But I love the Yeti.
D7 is back hooraaay
Hey! Hey now!! We still love our Walmart bikes🤣 You know it's hot in other states too.😉 At least you don't have the humidity there🥵
Haha it at least cools down. On my Bentonville trip, it was already 80 degrees by 5pm, and supposedly it was the hottest day of the year. I think swamp ass will be more of a problem there 😂
Nice bro
Very swag!!
@Evans MTB Saga I wish I had a bike upgrade from you but my problem is im far far away from you cuz im from Philippines proudly represent all Filipino bikers out there.
It looks like the D7 is longer and slacker from those specs you put up. You look like you might be a long guy, so that makes sense. And even with the overforking, the D7 BB height is lower than the Yeti
Look into a Norco optic if you’re looking for a good pedaling all a rounder!
the rear pivot of the frame, next to axle, has bearings or just plastic bushings? did you check for any play in frame pivot points?
The Yeti might be small for you. I'm 5'8" and ride a medium 2022 Giant Trance X 29. The geo is very close to the D7 except slacker. You didn't mention STA. D7 STA may be too slack to climb well.
When we are both in Bentonville ill let you demo my Evil Offering. I have had a marin mount vision, ibis ripmo af, sb130, transition sentinel and evil offering. I cant see myself ever changing.
Heck yeah dude sounds good! Message me on IG so we have each other's contact?

The Trigger's broom of mountain bikes.
Evan, you said the rear triangle would not fit on the D5. What was different? Did you use both the Swing arm and the center link?
Everything about the rear triangles were different. Linkage, bolts, width, bearing size. It couldn't work
I want to get this bike and make it a single speed jump bike!!
Like you said, the BB on te yeti might, for you feel to high. also perhaps increasing the travel on the D7 might make it feel less agile as your wheel base is 11mm longer. In terms of Compliance, a slaker ht angle, in my opinion, makes better use of the suspension yet making a bike slacker does reduce reach. Even if the D7's reach is 8mm longer than the Yeti, it can put you in a better position and give you the space to move around on your bike. Stem length could affect reach so perhaps increasing the stem length on the yeti may help as it already has a taller stack height so you may not be as huched forward . I honestly don't know that much about bike go but it would be cool idea for you to experiment and make the yeti it fit you better!
Dude it sounds like you know a bunch! Thanks for all the tips. I think I will try a longer stem now
@@EvansMTBSaga np
If I had to guess the yeti is probably about to go up for sale and he’s going to get a different frame better suited to his needs. Especially after the difficulty he had trying to get it setup.
The funny thing is, I tried to sell it in June and no hits
@@EvansMTBSaga The market is in a weird shift right now. I can’t seem to sell anything unless I’m selling it for significantly less then it’s worth. Maybe try putting it on eBay? I think that’s what I’m about to start doing again the only downside is I guess eBay is going to be handing out 1099s to anyone that sells over $600 a year. Keep track of purchase receipts to use as a write off at the end of the year.
@@rhythm618 Yup, I think the market is going soft after the Covid glut for bike companies and accessories. All the people who took up riding are going back to their normal routines and I imagine selling stuff at a loss. Good for buyers, bad for sellers.

Could you make a review on the Treck slash 8?
Just a question.
Does anyone know why some hydraulic disc brakes have those little tunnel-like vents on the Levers and other don’t. And what are they?
I'd love to see a ton of upgrades on a Jetson Pro Bolt. Want to do mine? lol
Hey man, love your content. I’m looking at a D5 project right now and noticed you can buy the D6/7 chainstay by itself. You mentioned the rear triangle didnt fit but did you try just the chainstay swap (the are the same length according to geometry)
If so what did you find the issue to be?
The chainstay swap wouldn't work because the D7 chainstay ends with a female and the D5 ends with a male, or vice versa. I even tried to source bearings to swap the whole linkage but they aren't made
@@EvansMTBSaga Thanks for the reply, I can definitely see that now!
I’m assuming the top linkages are in different positions and that’s why the seat stay can’t be swapped?
The trails seem to be pretty flat, it would be nice to se that bike go through it’s travel on more technical trails.

It sounds like you should sell the Yeti frame. You could use the extra money for another build and make content out of it. You should ride bikes you enjoy, and it sounds like the Yeti ain't it, chief. Thanks for another great video!
I was gonna talk about this in another video, but I tried selling the yeti as a complete, no hits at all lmao. No one wants to spend that much, and I don't wanna lose out thousands. So I may be stuck with it
I Love it
Is it a 140mm fork on the Yeti? Looks like a 130 will get you even closer on geometry numbers to the upgrade Polygon!
Wait does the D7 come with a thru axel in the front and rear? If the front doesn't have one, is there a way to put one in the front?
can you do a review on the trek roscoe 6? love the vids
Love that build but please add a carbon crank that hurts my eyes
After a year of owning a D7, I think I finally have it dialed it. Lots of little changes (tons of PNW stuff) and a 165mm Race Face crank, but the biggest improvement came with a swapping the Recon for a Pike (2018 with upgraded 2021 air spring). Wow. Also, how do you get your Uswe Go Pro mount to not choke you? I finally gave up on it.
Oh wow it's choking you? I have it positioned where it's on the lower part of my sternum. Some of the straps are barely velcroed
@@EvansMTBSaga Yes, and I've seen reviews where it happens to others. I think it has to do with body shape somehow. I can wear it just fine without the GoPro mount, but I need the straps a lot tighter if I use it to keep it from sliding up. It appears my lankiness has cursed me yet again. Ha!
I think the 1 x 11 Shimano 5100 drive train left on it should've gone to 7100.
You should buy a giant trance there pretty good
Its because of the Reach and Wheelbase numbers, your polygon es efectively longer than your Yeti
Thats crazy to think about. I've heard Yeti being accused of having "outdated" geometry. And Polygon's BB is lower which people like
What torque wrench do you use? Didn't see it in your tools list. Keep up the great work!
