I've been wanting to get back into mountain biking but to get a good setup it's so expensive and I've seen so many reviews on the t7 and super impressed can't wait to get some money saved up and get one looks amazing
Good stuff, easily the best review on youtube of these bikes. You actually ride them instead of just standing around and talking about components, and your review has just the right amount of detail in a clear format. I'm researching for a decent upgrade from my Marin 5 that won't break the bank and the Siskiu lineup seems perfect for that 👍. If you were to do another one of these comparison vids I'd love if you did one on the Trek Top Fuel vs Fuel EX 😁 Thanks from NZ
Last year I upgraded from a box store Schwinn 21spd I'd had for like 10 years to the T7 myself, and WHOO BOY did I fall in love with biking all over again! So much so I bought the special edition D7 with the Suntour boost fork this year, so I literally have both of these bikes and I love em! Yeah, the D7 definitely is a little lighter and nimbler on technical stuff and more efficient in the flow trails, but that T7 just eats up rock gardens almost as much as those rock gardens eat your tires! Glad it came with those dual wall, reinforced 2.6" Schwalbes! Both of these bikes are just amazing!
@@ChrisBundy17 I did, yes. Very nice pavement rider. Now I live a good 15 miles from the nearest trails, so I'm not riding to them anymore, but both ride.very nicely. With their suspensions locked, they ride almost as efficiently as a heavy hardtail.
I just got the d7 se but am on the fence about exchanging it for the t7, either way i am brand new to the MtB scene. The d7 SE seems likes it quite capable.. but for a few hundred dollars i could get the t7...i cant decide...
@@SasquatchN64 I own a T7 but both are great bikes, i've had the chance to try them both and it depends. If you're mainly going to ride on trails and very rarely use the bike for other types of riding, definitely go for the T7, longer travel, better geometry and components will make it worth the extra couple of hundred. Now, if you do a little bit of cross country and use your bike for some mixed riding, the D7 is more than capable and overlaps also on trail use, especially if you upgrade the fork, but upgrading the fork may land you on T7 price tag anyway, also i wouldn't upgrade my fork beyond 140mm on the D7 due to geometry, while if i am not mistaken the T7 comes with a 150mm fork stock, also nicer groupset for climbs. Speed on single tracks would be better on D7, T7 would handle rocky stuff and drops better.
i watched your other video of the 3 bikes in the d series and reviewing the d7 you said it had 29mm internal width rims suitable for up to 2.5 wide tyres, so you had answered my question, so i bought a d7, thank you for the informative videos, Phil
Another nice thing about these bikes is that they don't cost an arm and a leg the way comparable Trek, Specialized, etc do! It really helps people who don't have that kind of money to be able to still get a really nice capable bike with name brand quality components and geometries
I just order my T7 a few days and I can’t wait till it arrives . Been out of the mountain bike game for years but still riding bmx . So to start hitting the trails and downhill is going to so much fun again
The Siskiu D7 is capable of much more than what the chart at the end projects. I understand they want to sell the slightly more expensive bike that it's still a budget bike, but i even think the dude had a hard time depicting them as so much different even while it was his task, but to be clear THERE NO QUESTION that the T7 is a step-up and the better trail bike, but this is way more diminishing returns than what the chart projects, they are close, somebody skilled enough would be comfortable doing black diamond trails on it, but yeah the 5-10% extra comfort/performance will be on the T7, but the D7 will be super capable on everything but big drops.
hey, I have similar feelings. Could you help to highligh in which scenarios the D would be superior over T? would that be about the comfort of riding/position while just pedaling? what are your thoughts?
@@B0mb4rd1n0 They are pretty similar bikes but the T Series is more trail/all-mountain oriented while the D Series is in between XC and Trail. Travel and Geometry are Different but i wouldn't say DRAMATICALLY different. I'd say the D pedals and climbs a little bit better and the T would take bigger hits with more ease.
Excellent analysis, thanks! 👌 Just a small off-topic question: 😅 I found these words 😅. (behave today finger ski upon boy assault summer exhaust beauty stereo over). I don't know what they are. What should I do with them? 🤷♀️
Awesome video, thank you. If cross country is my main aim (and not super crazy rocky ascents and descents), would I go wrong by buying something like the T7 (actually I'm planning on buying the T8)? Is the D7 actually better at XC than the T7, or is it simply a case of that the T7 can do XC just as well as the D7, but well, it's simply not necessary for only XC?
The T7 will not be as zippy and agile in flat sections or climbing sections of trail as a D7. However, the T7 would outshine the D7 when the trail aims downhill. Hope this helps!
Seeing the comments about the frame cracks at gusset for the D7 and T7 does the T7 have an updated frame now. Seen comments that the D7 does but T7 frames have been replaced with T8 frames when cracked. (on the fence about getting a T7 as love the colour)
is the 2023 frame for D7 same frame as T7/T8? Are the wheels for the 2023 frame and nobby nic tires can easily be converted to tubeless? I don´t see any tubeless ready logos on either the tires or the wheels.
Depends on what your idea of versatile is. If you mean everything from XC to Enduro the T would be better, but if it's XC, Double Track, and some road every now and then the D would be better. The D is a little more poppy and playful but that is at a sacrifice for descending capability on gnarlier trails.
Hmmm, when the trail gets rough I still prefer the T7, even with the stock fork. However that may change if I had a better shock on the D6. But there's no denying that the geometry on the T7 makes the bike more composed when it gets fast and rough.
what about the difference of a position on both? Do you noticed any comfort difference? I am planning to use is in the same time as a MTB "tourer". Any other concept or feature (other than suspension travel) of the D over T makes the D a better choice? All I heard from your video is "if you don't need what T brings, D is good enough" but not that D would be any better from T at any conditions... I would appreciate helping out. Thanks!
The D is definitely a bit more of an XC position with shorter reach and more leaned over at the bars. If your plan is to crank out the miles, the Siskiu D would bode well for speed and efficiency.
If there's one thing I love more than the serenity, it's the sound of a 2-stroke going flat out across the lake. The faster you go, the more of it you can take in.
my transx dropper post on my D7 has a lot of laterial left to right play about. The smaller and upper part of the post twists around inside the larger lower post. What can I do to stop this looseness/play?
if i bought the D7 could i put on 29 x 2.5 hookworms to use it as a commuter bike during the week, are the rims are too narrow or there is not enough frame clearance ?
I reckon compare the polygon xtrada 7 to something, maybe the Marin bobcat/ san Quentin? I feel the bobcat and the xtrada might be just a bit too similar to have much to say, so the San Quentin would be a good point of difference
Trying to decide between the D7, D7se, and the Marin Rift Zone 2. Now you've got me thinking about the T series too. Oh the agony of indecision. Thoughts?
Siskiu D will be best for XC and if you arent attacking the descents super hard. The Siskiu T is a perfect do it all trail bike. The Rift Zone is very similar to the Siskiu T but we would say a fraction less maneuverable but more stable at speed.
