I agree with you there. I'm always clicking "I've already watched this video". I'm not complaining about the algorithm for the sake of channel growth, it just sucks as a watcher of UA-cam because I feel like there's never anything to watch.
Evan, if you're after more hardtails to try a Rocky Mountain Growler is one to add to the list. Very good modern geo and the frame can fit 29x2.6 or even 2.8s depending on the brand of tire... the stock forks aren't the best though so you'll probably want to do a parts bin swap!
Great video! I really like your split screen shots man 👍 and I’m enjoying the hardtails too. I recommend the GG Pedelhead, Nukeproof Scout 290, and the Ferrum HT which has crazy aggressive geo 🤠
Thanks for the video! I came to the same conclusion. An “aggressive” rider needs 1) aggressive hard tail to cover most use cases, skip the short to mid travel range, and 2) a big travel bike for more extreme riding. But hmmm… the proposition of a downhill/freeride emtb’s sure keep sounding better and better.
You need to try the dartmoor hornet it's one of the most aggressive hardtails I've tried its considered a dh/enduro hardtail with up to 170mm fork and 27.5+ wheels
I would love to see you have a go on the new Marin San Quentin if you’re testing hardtails. I’ve got the old one and it’s hands down the best hardtail I’ve even ridden
Speaking of hardtails to try, check out the new Trek Roscoe. I know its a Trek, but the seven is about 1600 dollars right now with some pretty good parts on it, plus that gorgeous frame.
As an Orbea Rallon rider myself I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at just how capable that bike is in a proper park setting. I did swap to a full coil setup though. CC Kitsuma rear with overstroked shock and a Smashpot in the forks and overforked to 180 mm. I also got some Newmen Carbon wheels for trail use and kept the stock DT's for park and DH use. Even though the rims may as well be made out of soft cheese. Also swapped the DEORE 4 pots for XT 4 pots. and did a bolt swap for anodised Ti and also swapped all contact points for personal preference. She's a proper beast now.
Oh wow that sounds like a serious bike. It's cool to hear about other people swapping parts on and off for specific purposes. Can't wait to unlock the Orbeas potential!
@@EvansMTBSaga You should seriously consider keeping the Orbea. It's basically everything I dreamt of in a bike 20 odd years ago when I wrenched for a living. A long travel rig that's actually rideable not only going downhill. I did the coil upgrade because I am an ex dh racer and freerider and like the feel of coils better than aircans. And considering how light the bike is the extra weight doesn't really matter that much overall. I hope to see more vids on the Rallon during the season. Also thanks for the quality content. Hardtail Recommendation, Nukeproof Scout, it's such a fun ride, can be built up to be pretty lightweight, it's recommended for 140/150mm forks, I have the 27.5 with 150mm forks, running single speed weighing in at around 25.5 ~ 26lb and it's an absolute Blast, and looks great in their Yellow/grey colourway.
Hi, recently on my dads forbidion MTB, we increases the stem length by 10mm, the front tire was a 29er 2.6 hans dampf. we ran pretty low pressures on it like sub 20psi. but when I corner on lose surfaces, the front washed out with the 30mm stem. when I put the 40mm, there was more room to lean on the front and load the front tire on loose turns. it still asked out with enough lean but it was considerably less. you do loose a bit of the playfulness as to jump you have to pull back a bit more. I know that on my hardtail, the tire for the front was pretty good last year. it had plenty of grip anything except really dry conditions/ hardpac. that hardtail had a 60mm stem and the tire never washed out.
Oh very cool! Thanks for sharing with me. I'm going to try a longer stem with your recommendation. It sounds like I was having the same issue as you. Thanks Athish
Best thing for any hardtail hands down is berd spokes or wheels and roost titanium handlebars. Those two things are the absolute best things you can upgrade.
Use less pressure to clean your bikes! I believe your issue with bearings and droppers is the fact that power washers get into everything. You end up pushing any dirt off, or into, your seals. It's painful. Use something that has that "mist" feeling that a car wash gives before pulling the lever. The biggest part of cleaning is your brush. Careful on that water pressure!! Great video, though. First one I've seen, of yours, and I'll be checking more out. 😊
Your bikes on the channel are super rad! I remember watching when you had the mythic. I hope the best for you bike YouTubing forward especially with balancing that with your family. I just am encouraging you to keep going forward. Thanks Brad

Mid/low travel bikes are so weird. Cause I personally like having a lot of travel for the gnarly trails but if I’m just riding local I just ride my hard tail. It makes me wonder at what point would a mid travel bike come in to play? Longer XC style rides that are medium in difficulty?
It has definitely been a pretty expensive investment for me also but for people like us that have strong passion for it, It's worth every penny. Some people love cars, some motorcycles, us.. mountain bikes. ❤
hey evan i have a suggestion, why dont you try a 2022 norco sight a2 i have one and there so good and its enduro but if you want a trail bike try the 2023 norco fluid fs a1 or if you want a crazy hardtail try out the 2023 Torrent S1 HT
You should try a ragley blue pig. It’s a steel bike so it’s got great vibration damping. It’s super aggressive, it’s got a 160mm fork and a 64 degree head angle. I think it would be an awesome edition to your channels
I’m a stubborn hardtail rider and still refuse to get an FS. Currently on the new gen Trek Roscoe and it is fantastic. Since I only have 1 bike I take it to XC rides as well as extreme chunk and bike parks. I’ll admit though the price point for the Roscoe 9 isn’t great, I love it but I think they could drop the price a little
4:47 too much sag, too little rise. Keep in mind using ball of thee foot position instead of mid foot to almost id foot position is less stable, I use mid foot, to almost mid foot, anything more backwards results in instability, I never liked it, yet many ride like that, especially with clipless shoes. But doing what I do requires longer reach. But that's how I like it, long reach mid foot position, saddle tip above BB, high rise. If reach feels too short on that bike, slam the stem, get a tall riser bar.
why not keep the army green polygon ? since u will also have to basically send back the orbea bike in the fall and the commencal meta sx is not in riding condition currently, at least this way u will have a backup FS bike in cause the meta sx is also unavailable in the future, u never know what might happen

Wow the Polygon "Tank" is going away, after this video I decided to try out an enduro bike even though Marin list the San Quentin 2 as enduro hardtail, & goodbye Canyon Spectral. Hopefully see more bike builds from this channel.
Sad to see the Polygon go. Love the budget friendly aspect from the brand. Hoping to grab one of my own someday. I’m stuck on my xc bike for now 😅
you should definitely try a ragley MmmBop its a 27.5 monster
Ive got a Dartmoor hornet with a 180mm zeb ultimate, nukeproof hzn wheels and cockpit, Magura mt5s and shimano 12 speed mix from deore slx and xt. I love it, its an absolute monster of a hardtail and i can iust change the frame with a full sus and it would be amazing
WHAT!!! A Hardtail with a 180mm fork!!!! That's wild dude. I bet the Zeb feels sooooo good on that too
Mid/low travel bikes are so weird. Cause I personally like having a lot of travel for the gnarly trails but if I’m just riding local I just ride my hard tail. It makes me wonder at what point would a mid travel bike come in to play? Longer XC style rides that are medium in difficulty?
try the honzo esd and im sure you'll love it
Watching this on my tv!
The video i didnt know that i really needed this was awesome
Grab an Ibis DV9, people are raving about the new one!
You really got to get a radon swoop these things are crazy
It has definitely been a pretty expensive investment for me also but for people like us that have strong passion for it, It's worth every penny. Some people love cars, some motorcycles, us.. mountain bikes. ❤
Absolutely! I watch The Stradman and he has like $12 million tied up in his car collection haha
I like how you do the Sponsors in the video.
Definitely should try the Nukeproof Scout!
That should be coming next month!
hey evan i have a suggestion, why dont you try a 2022 norco sight a2 i have one and there so good and its enduro but if you want a trail bike try the 2023 norco fluid fs a1 or if you want a crazy hardtail try out the 2023 Torrent S1 HT
do you think I should get a new recon or an old z2? I'm looking for a 26" rim brake straight steerer with more than 80mm of travel
Well if you get a new recon it sounds like you'll need disc brakes right? I'm sure a new fork will be more stiff
@@EvansMTBSaga I got some hs11s for $5 and if I get a recon silver tk I can use rim brakes front and rear because my old frame has no disc mounts
I wouldn't put any money into a bike still using rim brakes. Save up and buy something new
@@aaronchyea I wouldn't but it is a handmade titanium dean hardtail that I got for free and I don't have the budget for something new
You should try a ragley blue pig. It’s a steel bike so it’s got great vibration damping. It’s super aggressive, it’s got a 160mm fork and a 64 degree head angle. I think it would be an awesome edition to your channels
I put it on my list to try just now!
I am working on building one up right now. Definitely stoked to get it on the trails.
i want to see you get the yeti arc
I've been hard on yeti but I am pretty curious how a carbon Hardtail would ride!
yea i would like to get one as my next bike
bro you should try some scott, trek bikes . I want to see this bikes on your channel . I got scott scale 970 ❤❤
I’m a stubborn hardtail rider and still refuse to get an FS. Currently on the new gen Trek Roscoe and it is fantastic. Since I only have 1 bike I take it to XC rides as well as extreme chunk and bike parks. I’ll admit though the price point for the Roscoe 9 isn’t great, I love it but I think they could drop the price a little
I think I've seen Matty Active ride one of those. He LOVES Trek. I'll add it to the list! Haha
You should buy a Marino Hardtail! Order the frame custom geo. Or one of the full-sus he makes. I did a unboxing on my page
Rad! Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check out your video!
@EvansMTBSaga
Dartmoor Hornet - awesome hardtail 👍
Keep the videos coming Evan 👍
Oh I'm getting the Meta SX going for next video!
Evan! It is an amazing video, can you tell me what up with the retro sworks? I just have the same bike and i loved the videos about it.
I totally forgot about it when making the video. I still have it. It's in my attic
I saw the thumb nail and I was like “is that a commencal without bars?? Can I have it?”
Evan, you need a Titanium frame for your hardtail bike collection 😏🤘🤘
I'm down! One day!
@@EvansMTBSaga 🤘🤘Which brand?
to think it all started with vitus nucleus reviews
Haha right! I wanted to keep it super budget at first
OGs know about that schwinn axum that was 2 sizes big for him
Hello Evan! I really hope you see this comment! I LOVE your videos they are so calming and exciting to watch at the same time! I was wondering what Jockey Wheela do you have on the Ragley? Thank you!
Hello Alexey! The jockey wheels are from BB Infinite and they have ceramic bearings
@@EvansMTBSaga Thank you so much! They look sick!
you should extend the fork on the ragley
What do you mean?
@@EvansMTBSaga when you were on the bike you looked very bent over, in a xc-ish position what if you upgrade the fork and add a longer travel air spring. The upgrade is pretty cheap close to $40 all said and done.
Try a and rsd if you want a cool hardtail
Also Evan if you made a MTBsaga jersey I would definitely buy it
I want to! I've designed a few. I'll get back to it!
