I feel like I just received a treasure trove of the most beautiful cello music that I can listen to forever. Only recently discovered Boccherini was a cellist!
For starters, someone named David Hurwitz. I was curious, too, and a search posited this at the top (unfortunately for Puxeddu). Apparently, some people don't like the lack of vibrato. I'm not bothered by it at all; I like the stylishness of it. I think, just because Hurwitz (who is he anyway?) doesn't care for the qualities of the styling, it doesn't merit trashing Puxeddu's technical excellence. www.classicstoday.com/review/review-15268/
I may be just a Tennessee “hillbilly” (with some education, of course), but I am a “child of the King” through the Lord Jesus Christ! This music makes me feel like it! I heard about Boccherini several years ago through our wonderful local classical station, which is now replaced by something far less than this type of music. Thanks for posting this, because it is great to study by, and DREAM of restoring manor houses!
Yes, Boccherini has created a SUBLIME melody that channels the gentleness, the subtle joy of inner peace... His genious talent created this magical transition. The Cello Sonatas are awe-inspiring in quality!
Grazie infinite, con questa produzione date lustro e meritata rilevanza alla nostra musica e storia, condividendola avete trovato il modo per guadagnarci tutti! Grazie ancora
The cello is such a soothing instrument, so humanistic in timbre. Boccherini's music is the perfect balance of excitement yet tranquility. Perfect background music for reading and doing work!
I think you are very right here. I would say it is an excitement that is very balanced and sane - there is profound joy but not hysteria. I am very glad it is helping you to do your work - I often find baroque and classical music is the best companion for work and study.
I once read an account which said that Boccherini was such an accomplished cellist that Haydn and Mozart were impressed deeply when he performed for them!
This is the most beautiful presentation of the cello I've heard. No wonder he was known as a great cellist. I love Boccherini's melodies. Thank you for posting this.
Best of luck, @Ambient Meditations. It would be lovely to be able to play any instrument. Alas, I wasn't even in the queue when musical talent was handed out.
It's a pity that it's impossible to play this excellent recording on Spotify. But a good fortune one could find them here! Now I could compare this recording with Eduardo del Rio Robles! I want work's - as Boccherini's Sonatas for cello for mentioning an example - as to be wholly recorded, not partly: I want it all NOW! 😁 (There are of course recordings that add to these "complete recordings" - truly and indeed!) But there are more works to be done when it comes to recording "complete works" by other composers as well. Even composers less heard of - but still very important for the esthetics of art itself and as such! Boccherini's work is always one extremely rewarding experience. Just as the case is with J.S. Bach, Boccherini's music lingers in one's mind "for ever". And I dont mind! Let them float there - in one's own musical heaven! It make gloomy days bright and glowing!
Puxeddu has a unique sound, to my ear, very special attack, in its restrained intensity, as if wanting to speed the tempo in certain movements, but opting for emotive force, instead, holding himself back. Effective. Period instrument? Among my favorites, the F major & E flat somehow invited that choral "guest" into their sequence of movements - & did no harm at all.
I really appreciate the fundamental sanity of this music. It is very therapeutic to put on at the end of the day. Thank you so much Boccherini, I shall be coming back to this music again and again.
I play this and other Boccherini collections whilst in the office - I am in risk management and insurance - can be stressful - perfect salve for jangled nerves!

Puxeddu interpretation is absolutely stellar, and he certainly captured Boccherini's voice. However, are you sure that the G7 (Milanese Sonatas for cello & bass): 2. Andante Sonata in C is the right piece??
Per Herr Wagnerianer, I think the vocal pieces (unexpectedly, granted) make a lovely juxtaposition with these sonatas. Something about dramatic sequence? Serendipitous, or something... Accurate information is always welcome, but sometimes it's nice to just listen, when the music is entirely fine. Just a thought.
This Found me today of 2019.... My Spirit is enjoying this "Cut" as we call it from the "Hood" with translates into "Subdivision(s) I grew up in all around the United states and Europe" Bless you All and See you on the Other Side.
Why is there no photo of the artist Luigi Puxeddu? Love this music, many many thanks for posting....what year was this recorded ? I assume it is from Italy....more information please!
1:17:53, 1:51:30, 02:02:07, 02:25:14: Here are English cantatas for some reason. Also at 02:32:41. Now I give it up. Generally, Brillant Classics' work here is great, but this time, you've really messed up the playlist.
Really warm tones as well as happy, upbeat and brightening melodies throughout. However, as the cellist impressively puts their fingers down on every note, there lacked a certain dramatic and melodic quality. If only the cellist drew their bow a little longer with sustained vibrato--at least to take a breath of fresh air.
I've really enjoyed this set of works. Even those vocal parts (most of them in English) that, IMO, don't belong to this colletion of Cello Sonatas from Boccherini. Could you please provide more information about them (I'm really interested in the one at 02:25:10). EDITED: I've found it. It's a duet from Jephta (Händel)
yes, the first of these vocal pieces touched me also. That which starts about 1:17:47, have you found it too? It's an alien amidst the sonatas and is maybe taking the place of one movement. How could you manage to find that vocal piece? Did you seek through the lyrics? Please Brilliant Classics, save us in this search!
Well, finally I got it. It has been tough, as I only caught 2 or 3 simple words. It belongs to Händel's Semele, Act 3, scene 7. In fact, most of vocal parts sound to me as Händel's works
I too was surprised, and wondering if it was a simple mistake. Seems to be since the tracks replaced by the vocal ones are missing. Still waiting for Brilliant Classics to confirm. Thanks for clearing up what they were, as I thought they may have been from one of Boccherini's works.

Brilliant Classics
Thank you, guy. Good Work
Brilliant Classics Excellent...thankyou so much!!
Wait!
Still good, but 1:17:43 isn't a cello sonata! What is it?
Thanks!
I feel like I just received a treasure trove of the most beautiful cello music that I can listen to forever. Only recently discovered Boccherini was a cellist!
WHO would downvote this? This is amazing.
1st time i have heard Boccherini ,really enjoying his music ,Dont know if i have ever heard of him before but will listen to him again .
(49:42) I can understand why Boccherini was the grand master of the cello; this proves it!
First time I'm hearing these pieces. Very rewarding experience.
Exactamente! Cello works of Boccherini & Vivaldi, and other baroque era pieces are so perfect when doing work whether on the PC or regular chores
Boccherini...brings us closer to divinity....Big ups man...truly divine and timeless~~
This artist is amazing, his work is brilliant, how is it even possible i never heard of him before?
I once read an account which said that Boccherini was such an accomplished cellist that Haydn and Mozart were impressed deeply when he performed for them!
I can well believe it. I also wonder if Beethoven studied his scores deeply before he wrote his own cello sonatas.
@@richardrickford3028 Maybe; its possible.
This is the most beautiful presentation of the cello I've heard. No wonder he was known as a great cellist. I love Boccherini's melodies. Thank you for posting this.
Listen some David Popper.
What a piece of art, how didn't I hear these before now?
Gigi ma quanto sei bravo???esecuzione ed esecutori MERAVIGLIOSI .non ho trovato di meglio.
Boccherini, un gran compositor y violonchelista italiano.
Gracias por este gran repertorio.
I'm a guitar player so you can trust me when I say, the cello is a divine instrument
Best of luck, @Ambient Meditations. It would be lovely to be able to play any instrument. Alas, I wasn't even in the queue when musical talent was handed out.
Yes! 🙂
One grows in all great ways listening to this
Much appreciation for this. Thank you so very much
Hidden gem - beautiful recording - thanks for making this available
It's a pity that it's impossible to play this excellent recording on Spotify. But a good fortune one could find them here! Now I could compare this recording with Eduardo del Rio Robles! I want work's - as Boccherini's Sonatas for cello for mentioning an example - as to be wholly recorded, not partly: I want it all NOW! 😁 (There are of course recordings that add to these "complete recordings" - truly and indeed!)
But there are more works to be done when it comes to recording "complete works" by other composers as well.
2:45:45 >> 2:51:36 that's lovely!!
He is the king of the cello !
COULDN'T AGREE MORE WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't paid too much attention to Boccherini till now, divine music
This give me graceful and warmful feeling of daily life, thank you!
Quelle délicieux final avec cette voie délicieuse ....un enchantement
Boccherini is a number one expert on the cello.
I really appreciate the fundamental sanity of this music. It is very therapeutic to put on at the end of the day. Thank you so much Boccherini, I shall be coming back to this music again and again.
Glad you enjoy it!
I play this and other Boccherini collections whilst in the office - I am in risk management and insurance - can be stressful - perfect salve for jangled nerves!

Tnks! Beautiful Work!
Baroque is king!
Wow these are a great -- like a Bach cello suite with some mozart surprise in there. Considering the time period, makes sense I suppose.
Not a lot of cello music out there, but I like the timbre and tone.
At 1:20:30 or so, what is that opera piece? There are literally tears in my eyes .
Hi Dave! That should be G7 (Milanese Sonatas for cello & bass): 2. Andante Sonata in C.
Cheers. Ignore the thumbs down, I hit the wrong key.
This Found me today of 2019.... My Spirit is enjoying this "Cut" as we call it from the "Hood" with translates into "Subdivision(s) I grew up in all around the United states and Europe" Bless you All and See you on the Other Side.

Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful music. Could you please let us know what are these vocal works between some cello works (e.g. at 03.30.04). They are so beautiful too.
Thank you so much !
Solo delizioso❤

1:17:53, 1:51:30, 02:02:07, 02:25:14: Here are English cantatas for some reason. Also at 02:32:41. Now I give it up. Generally, Brillant Classics' work here is great, but this time, you've really messed up the playlist.
Fantástico , lindo demais
You can tell why Bach is so amazing. Noone comes even close.
I can tell Bach is great but not by listening to Boccherini. Actually by listening to Italian masters, you can tell Bach’s limitations.
Lovely! thank you x
Gracias
Maravilloso!!!!
Really warm tones as well as happy, upbeat and brightening melodies throughout. However, as the cellist impressively puts their fingers down on every note, there lacked a certain dramatic and melodic quality. If only the cellist drew their bow a little longer with sustained vibrato--at least to take a breath of fresh air.
brilliant thanks for postings
Impressive music !
Please Brilliant Classics, save us in this search!
ya there are a couple tracks in this collection that do not belong there XD
Some are from HANDEL'S Messiah, aria's with only basso continuo? Beautiful
What is the vocal piece at 1:17:47?
excelente......
- egyszerű, nincs " szétvibrátózva " csodás felvétel !
51:41 - a tune from Blackadder? :)
