- Do you want to get better at digital drawing? These 12 digital drawing exercises will help you improve your drawing skills!
The great thing about each digital drawing exercise is that they're easy to do, you don't need to be a drawing pro! If you do these drawing exercises daily or a couple of times a week (even if you only have 5 minutes), I'm sure your drawing skills will improve. You can start out your drawing routine with some short drawing exercises for example. Most of these drawing exercises can be done using traditional media as well, so you can practice improving your drawing skills anywhere at any time, yay!

This is such a wonderful and helpful video. Most people say “just practice” without really saying HOW. It’s nice to finally have a set of daily exercises to do. Thank you so much!
My pleasure! I'm glad you like it

yea im starting with digital drawing and line arting is actually pretty hard to do it perfectly
I was a commercial artist in the 80s. I just bought my first digital pen and I feel like I'm in kindergarten. These exercises are GREAT! Thank you!

SAME I always did the circle thing
I’m an artist recovering from a brain injury and I’ve had to “relearn” a lot (spatial reasoning, connecting left brain/right brain, hand-eye coordination, etc) and this video is really helpful! Thanks!
i wish you a speedy recovery :)
Wishing you best of luck in your journey! 💕💕
yes yes right, pathetic like hunters you are pathetic.
35 years old learning drawing. Your videos are a blessing
Try to draw more from your arm or even shoulder instead from your wrist or respectively your fingers. Your lines will get better over time!
this. i do this for both writing and drawing. more relaxed. more consistent. bettert overall.
not necessarily. some of the greatest illustrators in the world draw with their wrists. it really depends on how big you are drawing
@@dumbcat I'd recommend trying to draw from the arm and shoulders to any draftsperson regardless, because they might end up having an easier time.
@@dumbcat yes. but all of the best painters don't use their wrist for obvious reasons.

FINALLY! This is the video I needed.
YAY! Happy to hear you like it 😄
Instructions unclear!! I accidentally drew another Mona Lisa
Omg hate when that happens once i accidentally drew a 3D dick
Dawson Carpenter similar accidents happen with me. Sometimes I’ll accidentally draw hentai

@Maddi ?WhosThat? yes I’m MUCH better now, thank you
@Maddi ?WhosThat? thank you!
This is the clearest, most-instructive, video I've found yet showing how to do the work to create better drawings.
I know this video is a few years old, but I'm very glad I found it. When I was younger, I loved art and spent a lot of time with pen and ink, and charcoals. Eventually, the time came where I had to make a living and other than occasional doodles, I put my passion on hold. After about five decades I I now have the opportunity to pick up the pen, again. This time it's a digital pen as I just received my display tablet yesterday. After hooking it up to my computer and giving it a try, I realized just how different of a drawing experience pen on screen is. Add that to my very deteriorated skills, and I feel like I'm back at square one. Your exercises were just the thing I was looking for to help me improve my basic drawing skills and adjust to a completely new type of art, digital. Thanks for the video. :)
I’m happy you are getting back to your passion! Working digital takes some time to get used to, but you’ll get there’s. Just be patient and have fun along the way 😃
Me: * tries to find a quarantine hobby to forget about the corona virus.*
Video: *draws bats*
Denise y. Drawing can be really fun :)
Same here I even bought a drawin tablet now idk what to do with it
@@spencergoth1cgutz205 The corona practically was originated because someone ate a bat soup... I suppose that's the Joke
@@DharGez Thanks for explaining 💕
AAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAA
These are great, I'm here 'cause of quarantine, but I was looking for digital drawing for beginner tutorials. A lot of times videos focus on the tools and software a lot, but don't have straightforward exercises to actually improve drawing. I'll be trying these out:)
You can still do most of them on paper. You've got access to paper, right? :)

How's the progress? :D
@@rontarrant yeah but drawing on a tablet is very different. Personally drawing on paper is much easier for me but I have a harder time on a tablet. That’s why im going back to the basics to practice my hand eye coordination
Brought tablet and digital pen. Just wanted to relive the hobby which i left like 10 to 15 years ago. But completely blind where to start. But these exercise are real starting point for me. Seen lots of other video but this what i found easy. Thanks
Just got my tablet recently and been struggling for a while, until I found your video. Thank you so much for this!
"It won't take up a lot of time!"
*proceeds to fill an entire canvas with little lines*
There were on or two I didn’t find very helpful, but I love the positivity and encouragement and emphasis on the value of simple exercises. That pressure sensitivity exercise is SO satisfying! I found the last four exercises in particular very helpful.
Those value and color exercises are great ideas.
I started and spent the evening with the first three exercises... this is sooooo meditative and calming and the outcome is sooo nice! Thank you for this great practice! 🙏🏻❤️
Thanks a lot especially for the 10th one, I never can control pressure till this day even I drawing since kid.
as a start to drawing, this is actually really fun and I do see a slight improvement. Thank you this is awesome :D
I’m just a beginner I am 70 years old and wanted something to do so thank you for your help
These exercises are excellent for any artist not only digital but for sketch art or any painter as well Ty for posting
Don't have any intentions towards being a digital artist but I found my pen control when handwriting and 'rough' diagrams (OneNote) are getting better, plus I find the exercises quite relaxing. Glad I stumbled across this video :)
I'm happy you like it 👍😄
Wow that was amazing!
I love learning things by practicing fundamentals.
After I feel confident in my base skills my creativity skyrockets.
Since I am learning a vector design tool I was going to leave the drawing skills for a later date but with this video I can just work on my skills until that time!
Thank you so much for this video!
You're the type of teacher I always wanted for every single subject in school. Dank je wel Floortje!
Awww thank you Sara ☺️
No wonder they say 'keep it simple and short.' How wonderful and useful.
I remember, so vividly, using these exercises back in high school art, which I took seriously because I took and still take my art-making as a gift I naturally took to. I have used these techniques over the past 25 years to help open my hand muscles up and also to help me fill void space in my art journal :-D Way to go, Flo! Haha These are also exercises one must perfect if hoping to be apprenticed as a tattoo artist, but you tape a small eraser to your pen, never a pencil, because you cant make mistakes in tattooing! The eraser is taped at the top of you pen to help your hand get used to making intricate marks with the weight of the actual machine at the top of your needle.
These exercises have helped me so much.
As a real beginner to digital art I can say I feel like I have never drawn before when picking up my pen and practicing on my recently acquired tablet. This video has been so helpful getting me feeling much more confident with my lines and drawing on my tablet in general.
Cornlips 4 what kinda tablet do you have? Looking to get one but not willing to dish out triple digits since I’m a beginner, too
@@alxzen1127 it is an xp pen tablet I am not 100% sure what model off the top of my head but it was $49.99 on amazon I believe.
Cornlips 4 thanks so much! I’ll see if I can find it
Really like the last tip about the different shades and colours, training your eye to better distinguish them.
These were amazing. I really love these exercises. I'm gonna try them today.
Thank you so much! Have fun 😊

I love seeing your vids. I never drawn in my life but I like it, and you made me really consider buying an ipad and start to draw . Thank you ❤️
This is awesome! I've been drawing for over 24 years, but it's always nice to discover new exercises, and these are some of the most creative I've seen.
This video is perfect! I'm used to traditional mediums and have been struggling to learn digital. These exercises seem really helpful, thank u
Oh my god. These are going to be great exercises. I was a bit skeptical at first but the zebra pressure one, the parallel lines, and the mirroring/copying ones are going to be great for brush control. The most valuable one is the one on values (pun intended). Trying to guess values and colors and then comparing them side by side will be great when I start working on it, thank you!
Gonna try this exercises, been trying to get use to to the pen tablet that I bought, thank you so much for sharing
These exercises actually all look really fun. Thank you for this
Great warm up exercises before diving into your actual work. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
This is really good and exactly what I needed as a beginner. I've doing these for just about a week and can already see some progress. Thank you very much for this
That is really great to hear! Thanks 😊
super tips! There were a lot of them I hadn't heard before. Thanks so much!
You're most welcome
This video was so so good and incredibly helpful, I love the pace as it didn’t seem too slow or too fast and I’m definitely going to incorporate these exercises to better my drawing skills!! Thank you for making this video.
I struggle SO much with digital art and have no idea what I need to improve. This was so helpful!! I took notes so I can refresh my brain as often as I need to.
thank you for the tips! this video is very good!
Thanks so much! Glad to hear you like it ❤
Lol, I can only get a few concentric circles before the lines touch. You're amazing! Great tips, thank you thank you. Subbed!
The best tip in here is definitely the color matching one. As an artist, I never really paid attention to if I was or not as long as it was "close". Thank you a lot for that tip!
This is one of the first videos that actually helped me. Thank you!
As someone who follows a study in Game Art, I can varify how great these exercises are. Thanks for the video ;3
you're a lifesaver!! I've just started digital art and these are so helpful. specially the children's drawing one!! thank you :))
Same here I'll start my digital journey when I get my iPad on Christmas! So excited!
Where did you find childrens drawings to copy?
This was so good! Definitely will try all of this! Thank you!
Thanks for all these specific exercises as well as the why's behind them! It's a whole bunch of help
Thank you. This sounds silly but you've given me new hope in trying to get to grips with digital art. I've been practicing traditional art for years, it surprised me how digital art so different in comparison. I thought it would be as simple as picking up my tablet pen and away I'd go. Sadly that's not the case and it's quite demoralising.
Thank you so much Flo, this is such a huge help for me 😘❤️
That is wonderful to hear Gina ❤️
This was so helpful thank you so much! You’re a hidden gem 💕💙
Thank you very much. Can’t wait to try all of them
Thanks, exactly what I was looking for! Drawing on paper seems so easy after trying to draw on an iPad! Great exercises! I’d give you 2 thumbs up if I could!

These are actually really good Exercises... Thank You
This was so helpful. Thank you for a great outline of how to practice this!
I’m so happy I found this. I’ve been having so much stress on how to get better and I know ‘trial and error’ is the way but I still found myself just annoying that I couldn’t do well. This video helped so much, thanks!
Thx Flo, Now i Can get better. 😊😊
You're welcome! Have fun 👍😊
Back to basics! Thank you!
Thank you for making this video! I’m going to give it a shot. I just bought a iPad Pro and really want to learn to draw with it.
As a beginner, I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the new brushes, I think I might go with HB, Technical Pen, and Soft Airbrush, maybe in time I can do more.
Nosara don’t use the soft airbrush to blend, it gives blend that’s too blurry looking. Use the medium hard airbrush. One more thing, don’t get bogged down with technical things like brushes, etc. Pick a few brushes and stick with them for a while.
Spectra is good. Also, for sketches, peppermint and 6b
Thank you for everything
You're most welcome 😊
These tips are amazing! I can already see it work so good✌🏽
Probably the best beginner videos for drawinf i've seen on youtube.
It was amazing, I am gonna do the ones I can on paper, and the ones not possible on paper will be done once I get my tablet..
That's great! Have fun 😊
Thanks Flo!
You're so welcome ❤ I hope it helps 😄
Brilliant exercises. Will do. Thanks. Great teacher.

Is there a big difference in drawing in a paper to digital art
@@deld186 yes-
Great exercises.... couldn't help but think of Karate kid... Wax on wax off... these exercises might not seem like much but as with any practice these help fine tune eye and motor skills accompanied with actual drawing and sketching you can be sure to improve.
Another brilliant and helpful tutorial. Thank you SO much Flo!
Great video. I am 40 years old and just started learning to draw. Bought myself an iPad mini 5 and of course Apple Pencil so that I can bring it anywhere to draw. Just finished working on the first exercise. Going to do more in the upcoming days!
If I did this 5 minutes a day filling a page with hatches would take me a month lol
Daria 😂
Seems nice having an apple pencil 😢
And seems nice to have an iPad 😢😢😢
u can do these with paper
@@rifaiiixiii These are " Digital Painting " exercise ... Some of these are pointless with natural media . You don't need to learn how to manage the pressure sensivity on natural media ... You do different kind of exercise or variant of these one . I think that people don't know that a graphic tablet is around 20 - 40 $ ... Everybody can start . On the long run is far cheaper to paint with oils or Acrylics .
The second gen is 120 dollars on amazon, mate if you want one you could save up! Try saving extra change and whatever you can without skipping meals or not buying things you truly need. Then, one day you’ll be able to get one!
OverRottenWaddup makes sense. I’m personally better at drawing on paper, but I like the finished look of digital art more.
You're amazing, thank you for these helpful exercises 😊💕
