12:00, you do know the masking option exists, right? Far simpler. Also, you are wild for fully rendering parts of an illustration with just your sketch. That is a superpower, haha.
I really liked this video. I'm a novice digital artist and it was fascinating watching your process. I didn't go to art school and took very few art courses in school. I can't really draw freehand very well at all. Hearing you explain how you don't start out "the right way" with the shapes and building up the drawing was enlightening for me because I think like you do (sans the talent to get an image from my brain to my 'canvas'). I don't believe it's wrong though, to draw like you do. I think it's wrong to say that there's only one way to do something, or to say particularly in regards to art, that there's a wrong way. It's only wrong if it's not getting you the results you want in your finished work and anything that does work is "your way". Breaking away from tradition and close minded curriculum and moving forward in this knowledge sharing collaboration of minds from all over the world is just epic to me! Thanks for sharing!
I can’t wait to go to the US and buy some of your merch. I have been following you for almost 3 years now and really love the process and your free spirit way to go about building a business and studio. Thank you so much for inspiring us over and over again. This guide was gold for me.
I began following Ten because his art but also because of the tutorials. I know UA-cam’s algorithm doesn’t reward tutorials anymore, but there are some of us out here still hungry for knowledge. So thank you, Peter! ❤
Glad to see that not everyone adheres to the classic "sketch out blocky shapes first" approach. I'm only a casual doodler, but it still feels kinda stiff to me whenever I try to go the "professional" route vs. the childhood approach of just drawing the "final" design right away.
Dude, seriously, I could see you do any type of video at this point. The quality of the video, the editing, the pacing, the narration, the information within the video. Always top notch. Thanks for giving us a deeper look into your process.
This is unbelievably helpful! I’m so sick of tutorials only giving you 60% of the process. I learned digital art in like 2008 so being able to see the whole process in 2024 is just incredibly useful. Thank you so much for the vector to PS breakdown, especially how you break your colours out into their own layers! Amazing tutorial
I absolutely love the fact that your work setup is not over kill, super high tech, inaccessible stuff! you know what will be good enough for your workflow and that is what you use. I always get intimidated when looking at the setup other creatives post and it makes me feel as if I cant catch up because that stuff is inaccessible for most people because of the price barrier. So thankyou!
I am a Screen-printer, been doing it for 30 years. The knowledge of screen-printing you have is very impressive. I enjoyed this video a lot. Your knowledge was spot on.
As a cartoonist who grew up traditional, I knew getting an iPad with an Apple pencil would be the best way for me to go, For all of the reasons that you listed here. I just don't want to be tethered to my desktop computer. (It's the same reason why I love my Nintendo switch and all other portable gaming systems that came before it)
This was really refreshing to watch. As an aspiring artist I get so stuck in the way things are "supposed" to be done. You really instill a feeling of freedom when it comes to creating that I love so much!
You can save yourself a few minutes in Procreate when changing the layer colors by selecting the desired layer then tapping the magic want in the top left. Use the Hue/Saturation and just drag that puppy to black. Literally takes seconds! As someone who sketches in Navy Blue (cause black just seems to final 😅), this is the last step in my sketch workflow too.
yeah, i usually sketch in bright colors because for some reason that just makes sense to me, and for my final sketch layer (i do multiple sketches at varying levels of detail) i just go and turn brightness all the way down, much simpler than recoloring the whole thing
Just throwing this out there for education's sake, since you mentioned it : some teachers will teach you that the "proper" way to draw figures is to rough in torso first, then legs, then arms, and finish with the head. This is because the torso exists in space until it is anchored to the ground by the legs, which must adopt certain positions to do so -- they are the most "locked in" body part because of their assumed attachment to the ground. After that, the arms can flow independently within their own constraints from the torso, then the head can swivel around after all that other stuff is established. I learned this mostly by reading Burne Hogarth's books, but I think it's sort of a standard way to do it. But this all goes out the window, in a way, when you have access to the convenience of digital art and the adjustments it allows after the fact. It's one of those things that digital art frees you up to do incorrectly, which is nice. :)
next time you’re working on something in procreate, try using the layer mask option instead of making a new layer & filling in white! 😄 when you click on the current layer you’re working & and see all the options pop up, select the layer mask option. when you use the brush tool with black ink, it’ll erase or hide whatever you draw over, but if you ever decide you need that part back, just switch your pen to white & draw over the area again to get it back! i hope this makes sense lol but once you get in the habit of it, it’s super helpful! this video was super fun to watch another artists process, thanks for always sharing 🫶🏼
I'm ashamed to admit, I have never learned masks. Since I am self taught, I just looked at those and thought. "That seems confusing" and just skipped it. 😂I need to watch a few tutorials on them.
@@evrythingis1clearly, although he is self taught, he is an incredible artist. Better than you without a doubt. Go read a manual if you think using procreate in a textbook way is the pinnacle of art making 🙄🙄🙄
UA-cam has been wanting to show me this video for months. Today I finally clicked on it, and am happy I did. You have such a fun tone as you talk. Love the video thanks for the upload!
Ten Hundred, we need more videos like these. Your content is so freakin' inspiring and seeing this type of 'raw' mostly unfiltered stuff from you is incredible. Love your work man.
Thank you bro..Im self taught. Grew up drawing on Every and anything. Life happened n took a break from drawing. But bought a pro with procreate and the pencil when I decided to get my life together. My wife and drawing on the iPad very much made it fun to remain home and not outside (I got in trouble a lot outside). So a few years later and today, I’m watchin this and learned ALOT..also, inspired to get back creating and wearing my designs. -ANT
You just told me what I needed to hear because everyone's telling me Illustrator is the way to go and I HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT. The brushes STINK. How I work is how you work and this is PERFECT. Thanks!
Thanks for the in depth class. No telling how many people you saved innumerable hours of frustration. Nice to know I'm not the only one with lost layer hours. Looking forward to the shirt - Much thanks to you & your team!
Love hearing how your drawing process is unique from tradition. It is encouraging to do what works and not be pressured to follow rules. You're a hero for self taught artists. thank you ❤
11:55 you can also press once on the layer and then select the „mask“ option. What that does is that if you paint with a dark color it „erases“ the area and if you paint with a light color like white, it brings the line or what ever was there back.
@@alextrelis He basically discovered masks in his own round about way. Anyone using Photoshop would know about masks but I can imagine someone starting with Procreate wouldn't know.
I do almost the same thing but still on the 1st Gen Pro… it’s a bit rough but gets the job done. I didn’t know about the triple tape- game changer!!! Thank you Ten Hun!
In procreate on your sketch layers you can hit alpha lock, then hit fill layer to change the line drawing color rather than using a large airbrush and painting it in.
I love that you own the way you do things, more than one way to do art. People love to make up art rules, I say do what makes you happy and gets YOUR job done. Have fun!
I think you could save even more time with the Pantone color process if you stayed in Illustrator and not Photoshop. In Illustrator you just select a color and then Select > Same Fill Color. Then use the Swatches panel to choose color. This way you don’t have to worry about all the layers
Thaaaaaank you thank you thank you thank thank you freakinnnnnnn thank you. For me, this was probably the most helpful of all of your videos I've seen. I've been wanting to try my hand at digital art (instead of exclusively physical). I've watched tons of videos but nothing really felt like this level of clarity and yet simplicity. I just so appreciate this, even for "reg" art, as you dropped so.many.gems. Mucho gratitudes... You make everything feel like truly, "Just Do It", because of your vibe and the way you think and share your super clear approach. ;-)
pump for this video your tutorials have been helping me out a lot on my artistic journey! Been enjoying out for since i was a kid but had a huge falling out with it for about 10 years and first video i seen had me hooked and now an old hs friend wants me to do a commission piece for him on a Gesso wood canvas and i love digital art so these videos are a must for me to watch! Thanks Ten Hun! 🫡🙌🙌
@TenHundred Here is a ninja tips to avoid the coloring on lineart layer issue. Create a clipping layer over your line art layer, fill it with black (or any color) and lock it (the clipped one), now you’re line art is safe. As a bonus side effect, it will allow you to redraw on your lineart layer without switching color. Just merge both layers at the end. (I use it in fresco, PS and procreate) 😊
I’ve watched 50 videos and nothing compares to how you describe your outlook to it all . Great video ,to the point and easy to understand. I like the way you process your style while showing step by step. As a video editor love the way you and your team have made great transitions and smooth professional takes to highlight all this. Thank you .im going to subscribe and see more videos to help my skills improve
Affinity designer is well worth your consideration for vector based drawing.A big plus is the one-time cost, but the feature set and capabilities are out-of-this-world incredible.
All great but the color adjustment step can be done easier if you stay in Illustrator. It also supports selecting like colors, assigning spot colors, separating colors into layers, and makes for a lighter production file.
72 dpi is an old holdover from old monitors. Pixels are now smaller on screens, so 96 dpi is the bare minimum. If you have a large demo that uses phones and tablets, you need to 2x that as well (150 -180 dpi). 300 dpi is great for basic printing and clothing as silk screens for clothing don't print as high as paper printing. If you are using vector work, you can often send up to 600 dpi files for photo work, but that's overkill for drawn art. Don't forget to trap your colors under your black layers if you are doing a full CMYK print!
Slight clarification, ppi (screen/document pixels), which is what you're referring to is different than dpi (dots per inch, for print). If you're never going to set your work for print, you can put the dpi as 1 if you want to. A 1000x1000 document at 1 dpi is the same size pixel dimension as 1000x1000 300dpi. As I am now misquoting Dr. Seuss "A pixel is a pixel, no matter how small." This goes for about any screen size (aside from weird software black magic). But what is messed up is the scale/sizing/math font sizes use. They will scale in a physical size different than at 300dpi. Try it out in Photoshop (or Procreate), and see what 1200pt fonts look like at 1dpi vs 300dpi. 72dpi is one that scales the closest for numbers lining up for print.
A tiny bit of color trapping / overlap is the safest way to go when are using more than one color, not just with CMYK on paper but just as well with silk screen etc. Although I must say that this is less and less common. Digital printers for small editions don't have this problem in the first place and modern, online offset printing services use digitally controlled presses that self-correct the positions of the layers If they do not match up perfectly.
So many other great reasons to use Fresco: Paint Inside, Multicolor brushes, better Perspective Guides, Creative Cloud sync (never lose work), etc. - glad to see it’s part of your process. 😊
Just FYI at 11:26 you're basically describing inventing layer masks but with extra steps. Also the layer mask has the added advantage of allowing a gradient of "disappearing" as well depending on how dark your brush is.
I had no idea fresco had a vector option! I have a small laser engraving business and I need vector art. I use Corel draw on my pc but do a lot of art on my iPad with procreate then vectorize it at my pc. I’m definitely going to try fresco and see if I can optimize my process! Thanks❤
dude when i finished school i did graphics designing for 10 years and gave up , its been 5 years since i stopped and now this video has gave me inspiration to get it going again , love ur work !
I love drawing, I have tons and tons of supplies, tradition and digital, but I just can’t keep focus, my creativity has diminished so much. I’ve been in a drought for so long.
I’m a little late so hopefully you don’t need this tip anymore. My art teacher used to say “there is no such thing as inspiration there is only dedication”. Basically she was trying to get across if you wait for inspiration or creativity to strike you will be in a drought state for most of your life. Every day at the start of class we spent 10 minutes brain dumping. Sometimes we had a prompt sometimes we didn’t, but for 10 straight minutes we had to sketch something to completion, sometimes we had a reference sometimes we didn’t. To this day I still do this I find it’s a great way to get my brain moving, and stop overthinking. When you only have 10 minutes to finish a sketch you can’t overthink it you just gotta go. You can’t dwell on if it’s perfect or if you need to adjust the sizing or lighting etc. I’ve found this has really helped me not obsess over perfection as much and just allow myself to be creative. My favourite way to do this is at the start of the year I go on Pinterest and look up simple easy drawing prompts, I then make a list and print them cut them out and put them in a jar or copy them all into a random generator. I try to get around 350 prompts for the year. I normally never get through them all but it’s nice knowing that I don’t have to worry about not having enough. You can either remove the prompt once you’ve completed it or keep it in there and force yourself to sketch something different if you get it again. I once got the same prompt 3 days in a row so it really made me flex my creativity. Good luck with the burn out it’s so frustrating sometimes when you feel no spark.
Thanks Peter! I got some T-Shirts form your last sale and I am quite happy with my Shirts! My wife even likes her shirt too! Sweet video on your process.
Awesome video! I love that you don't follow what everybody teaches as a traditional method of sketching. It shows that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to art. Do it the way that works for you. (By the way, Procreate has layer masks that are better than your manual method for masking lines. 😁)
As someone with ADHD and has such a hard time following instructions or sticking to a "format", I just want to say thank you so much for saying that you do your own thing when it comes to drawing and are also self taught. For majority of my life, it has been a constant battle to just allow myself to draw how I want to draw or being told, no what you're doing is wrong. I get their are fundamentals and specific ways on how you should draw but, I too always found I draw best when I just draw in blocks. Isn't always the easiest but it's how my brain works too. I mean, I can get from point A to B but it'll be a bit of detour to get there 😅
Same, I have massive ADHD/ocd brain, squirrel and it's not for everything, but its often the case when it comes to making and creating things. I often waste my time planning and think of projects from start to finish, get resources ,but then don't push myself to do the project or finish it and get bored and start another. Completing projects and cleaning house with unwanted stuff is my main goal atm., Making dope art, filming it, editing it and create music, merch etc. 10 hundred does a lot of inspiring things, I'd love to meet him and collaborate with him on some projects.
@@MultiTravellingman so sorry! It didn't tell me you replied! I know, procrastination is the devil with Neurodivergency! But best thing I've learned is just small steps and stick to one room! Good luck!
thank you for this video. You inspired me to start digital art like 3 years ago and this video gave me so many little hack to optimize my workflow thank you so much!
The alpha lock method for coloring can take awhile and it’s easy to miss sections, so I tend to prefer creating a layer directly above, color filling it with whatever color I want, then I set it as a clipping mask. If you don’t want that many layers, you can then just merge them. Be careful with merging though because sometimes it does weird things if you merge multiple layers at once and quickly.
You can usually merge layers starting from the bottom one at a time. When there's several different blend modes merging them at once gets funky. I think it sometimes starts from the top for random reasons.
That technique of white layering vs erasing is an awesome idea I am definitely gonna try and implement into my work, allows the creation of so many potential separate assets for later use as well! I really like the idea of the flexibility as you put it that comes along with doing it to, Great video you made here man! also the dpi check was clutch, as well as the actions thats new to me! I think I am gonna have to get a IPAD now!
I don't know about Procreate but in Photoshop this is essentially the same effect as adding a layer mask except that the layer mask is attached to the layer it's masking rather than being it's own layer.
An absolute blast of a video - as a former 269 resident - happy to see someone doing their thing like you in the mitten. This was a tremendous help to my personal journey in digital art. Lots of great help and it was a breeze to watch the full video - engaged entirely.
I'm sure you know these but just in case you don't, figuring these out helped my workflow a little. 1.) You can create a masking layer to "erase" and/or reveal your work by switching between black (erase) and white (reveal) on your color palette. 2.) If you want to change the whole layer's color you can Alpha Lock, make sure the color you want is selected, and then fill layer. That way you don't have to manually color over the work. The learning curve was rough for me-I'm still clueless at times- so I thought I'd put this out there. But hey, if what you do works for you, forget what I said. 😂 Love your stuff!!
10:18 I used to draw characters on paper as a kid and as a teenager, so naturally my Parents got me countless books to try and help me improve my art… As I was also self taught! And literally EVERY art book I was given as a kid was trying to get me to draw like this, but I strictly only draw in black sharpies… Always have done and always will do😂😂😂 I would also just draw my characters out how I wanted them to look in the final drawings🤷🏻♂️😂 My dad used to do a bunchhhhhhh of oil painting too, so he absolutely HATED how I’d draw, and also how I would only draw with black sharpie too lmfaoooo, I just cbfa drawing essentially the same thing multiple times just to rub it out you know..?🤷🏻♂️ I’m not able to really draw anything anymore though due to my disability worsening unfortunately… I definitely miss it I won’t lie. I only ever drew characters, never any backgrounds or anything like that really, and they were never really anything special but I still enjoyed it at least, and that’s all that matters at the end of the day isn’t it??🤷🏻♂️
Great vid as always, Ten Hun! Love these more in-depth process videos. Wish my Apple Pencil didn't crap out after a few month's use. But I'm pretty happy with my Huion tablet. You should give some of the drawing tablets a try, it'd make a cool video.
This popped up at the right time. UA-cam is fully listening. Been looking at what hardware and which software best suited for almost the same purposes. Thank you for an awesome video!
This is great, I love discovering ways how others go through their creative process. Love the little tips on changing the brush color so you don't get too confused about where you're at while sketching up your layers. Also, I typically do ALL my sketching in Illustrator, so been wanting to know how others feel about software like Procreate and Fresco. I didn't know about the vector brush in Fresco and that to me sounded pretty darn cool. I was very interested in your work, so much that I just bought a shirt " WIDE EYE" and I can't wait for it to arrive. Thank you for sharing your process and talent with us.
I freakin love this. I think that’s such a huge benefit to being self taught. It comes with its downside sometimes but those hurdles are jumped pretty quickly. Solid video 😊
Loved the video❤. If you switch to clip studio paint you could do the sketch and the vector inking all in one app. It also has the vector erasers you mentioned.
This is a cheat code for ‘I can use Illustrator’ but don’t want to for clients/a company hiring illustrators/freelance work 😂😅❤ Thank you SO much!! I will be watching and rewatching!
I have never done digital drawing in my life and found this really interesting, thanks for the in-depth lesson! Sorry if this is a dumb noobie question but I am wondering why you don’t do the drawing in the vector programme initially so that you don’t have to do it all twice? (Haven’t finished the video yet so maybe you will mention that in a minute! 😊)
Just a guess, but as someone who does digital, I wonder if it may be easier to sketch without vector first. Vector is a lot more smooth and refined, so if your not sure where your lines/composition is or still putting it together, I can see it being a hassle to sketch that way.
The looseness and pressure sensitive transparency of the peppermint pencil brush in procreate makes it easier to sketch things out and refine the image. The vector ink brushes behave very differently than the pencil brush and sketching with the hard black vector inks would just feel very wrong to me. It would be like doing a rough scribble sketch with a sharpie instead of a graphite pencil IRL
@@TenHundred Thanks man and just thank you so much for all the magic you share. You've put in so much effort learning stuff to be able to output your magic so BIG respect and love to you dude!
This is the most informative and helpful video I’ve watched on digital art in a long time. I’m moved. Please continue to make fantastic art and videos. I am now subscribed.
THANKYOU for the no-erase tip, as someone who is new to using procreate (I only use it for composition and final drawings etc) this is a total GAMECHANGER! thanks dude, I'm off to do some testing hehe
I’d recommend using the mask option instead - it does the exact same thing but it’s imo more usable because if you I.e. transform the layer or add something in between the two layers you dont have to worry about the extra masking layer
I always felt wrong for the way I draw, as I am also self taught. Thank you for making me realize that is not the case. Seriously appreciate it and the rest of this information
This was an amazing insight into your process dude, I’ve been looking into starting to use procreate to help me mock up so many different projects. Really nice break down of the steps you take in your work, big up man thanks 🙏 🙂
Awesome video! I really liked seeing the creative process behind the final piece! The only part I don't understand, is what is the point of making the original sketch in procreate specifially 300ppi, if you were planning on vectorizing it anyway? Doesnt that kind of defeat the purpose of using such a high pixel count in the first place? Or is there another reason that im missing?
He mentioned that he's never sure if he's going to use the pencils or the inks in the final project. It also seems important to him to keep as much of the original art as possible (ie. drawing white over lines). Some artists go back and publish their sketches (Jim Lee for instance) and he would need full resolution. Just some thoughts.
James pretty much hit the nail on the head. I want maximum flexibility for anything I create. There is pretty much no downside to making it 300dpi the whole way, except larger file size, and it gives me options to print even the pencil sketch later.
As a beginner to the world of digital art, I came here to learn how to get started and find a good tablet to purchase. These tips and tricks are going to be very useful as I get better. I really appreciate you for sharing this video on UA-cam. I hope to learn more. Thank you
Appreciate this. A lot of artists inspire me, but you were the final push because with your channel i see what's possible. What i could have if i kept going. And I'm improving a lot! May even be creating a Literary Magazine for the printing company i work for if they decide to do one next year. Thanks, Peter.
This is the most powerful knowledge to learn as a beginner and I wanna thank you for teaching and literally talked about everything ❤ Your creativity are amazing, your skills and strokes are soo beautiful, I love everything about this video and I learned a lot from it! It was the best decision I‘ve ever made to straightaway watch this video, thank you so soo much!!
Dang, you’re so generous for sharing your detailed workflow even your pencil setting! I would probably keep on rewatching this as I progress in my digital art journey. Thanks, 10hun!
Did anyone get the part where he explains "what" he wished he knew when he was starting digital art? All I got from this video is : get a better tablet, and some more stuff about "printing" the art.
Yo Ten Hun, if instead of Photoshop, you go for Illustrator... You can do two things faster... 1 selecting all same color layers at the same time... by going on the top menu SELECT > SAME > FILL COLOR.... with that you can do the same recoloring and choosing the pantone color there. Love your work man!! Cheers!
You could have skipped the Photoshop step be setting you colors in Illustrator by using the Magic Wand tool to select all objects with the same color. Then you could export it to print from there with all the specified crops and bleeds you need for printing.
He set it up in a specific place to film it, he creates videos as he works. Moving it creates continuity headaches that waste time later in the process.
Ugh, that triple tap for joining lines is mind blowing. Been going nuts redrawing the same line 300 times each to get two lines to come together seamlessly.
It feels like half of the video is sponsored and a bit show-off. There's some good tips but it's hard to keep up and actually use most of the info for actual in my own sketches. that's cause he's running from point to point, and it is easy to get lost. The explanation of using the technique in every step needs to be more linear..
na you just slow im a beginner at digital art and drawing in general and i was able to basically keep up and understand how to do everything he was explaining. at least on the pro create portion. everything else is new to me and something i needed like how to vector files.
I love the fact you went through so much detail on how you go about it. I use a Samsung galaxy Tab S6 lite with clip studio so very different products but i draw in a similar fashion, in pieces. I almost always start with eyes if it's a character and it's definitely not what anyone would teach but it makes sense to my brain because they are my most important feature. Doing tonal correction is far more convenient than the alpha lock and i can definitely see you using that in the future. You can also change the full layer colour via layer properties if i remember right. I also know clip studio has a select colour gamut which is super handy for selecting a colour on a layer (you can set for a range too).
As someone who's been using Image Trace to bridge Procreate to Adobe Illustrator, this Adobe Frasco Vector Brush is going to be a game changer. Thank you, Peter!
This was massively helpful! I'm getting started with Procreate after almost not experimenting with it for two years and this video helped me understand the non-negotiable basics in a lot more detail. Thanks!

yeah, i usually sketch in bright colors because for some reason that just makes sense to me, and for my final sketch layer (i do multiple sketches at varying levels of detail) i just go and turn brightness all the way down, much simpler than recoloring the whole thing
@@TenHundredmasks are super powerful but finicky with the fresco to illustrator export process.
@@TenHundred Why in the WORLD are you posting videos when you have no idea what you're doing!?
@@TenHundred I totally hear you!
Yeah, his explanation blows my mind to see he do not use maks!!
That vector line hack in Fresco is a game changer for me! Thank you.
Is illustrator can do separate color?
That’s what I was thinking. Photoshop is an unnecessary step
Mackinac Island!!! I’m from MI, love that place! And love your videos, thank you for taking the time to share.
Thank you for the fresco triple tap trick!
I didn't know about fresco! I love how freely you can draw vector with it, thank you!!!
Affinity designer is well worth your consideration for vector based drawing.A big plus is the one-time cost, but the feature set and capabilities are out-of-this-world incredible.
This is by far the best iPad artwork video I’ve seen on UA-cam. Great stuff.. 👍
All great but the color adjustment step can be done easier if you stay in Illustrator. It also supports selecting like colors, assigning spot colors, separating colors into layers, and makes for a lighter production file.
Thank you bro I'm a tattoo artist and starting to do a digital artwork and you really helped me a lot. Keep up the good work!
Why do you need to trap colors under black layers for a CMYK print?
@@ellenanan to eliminate the white halo in case the press falls out of register between colors.
Wow. So cool seeing your workflow. Great design.
So many other great reasons to use Fresco: Paint Inside, Multicolor brushes, better Perspective Guides, Creative Cloud sync (never lose work), etc. - glad to see it’s part of your process.
😊
This reminds me of the old videos. Great information and practical. Love it!
His old videos were so much better. This one is great and very informative
Just FYI at 11:26 you're basically describing inventing layer masks but with extra steps. Also the layer mask has the added advantage of allowing a gradient of "disappearing" as well depending on how dark your brush is.
You're too kind Sir, sharing the process of your creative process. Glad found this channel! makes me want to draw again
Just getting into digital art and that tip about using white instead of erasing just blew my mind. Genius!
I had no idea fresco had a vector option! I have a small laser engraving business and I need vector art. I use Corel draw on my pc but do a lot of art on my iPad with procreate then vectorize it at my pc. I’m definitely going to try fresco and see if I can optimize my process! Thanks❤
Right! I needed this
Affinity Publisher, Amadine…
Clip Studio Paint has also vector with the good erasing features. love CSP ❤
@@luv181 thanks! I’ll check it out ❤️
dude when i finished school i did graphics designing for 10 years and gave up , its been 5 years since i stopped and now this video has gave me inspiration to get it going again , love ur work !
I love drawing, I have tons and tons of supplies, tradition and digital, but I just can’t keep focus, my creativity has diminished so much. I’ve been in a drought for so long.
I'm in the same boat but I hope you're able to get back into it these days 😊
@Angryoyster thank you man
Thanks Peter!
Started "drawing" last week and it is definitely inspiring to see your approach. Really impressive work and detail.
You can use alpha lock and then fill layer to fill the whole drawing layer with black rather than painting over the layer with a brush.
Honestly you hit this one on point. from start to finish great job..
Totally gonna try that screenprotector that is so smart!
😂 Love your stuff!!
as a screen printer i just wanna say thank you for the way you go about the “finalizing” section
I only ever drew characters, never any backgrounds or anything like that really, and they were never really anything special but I still enjoyed it at least, and that’s all that matters at the end of the day isn’t it??🤷🏻♂️
I have not really wanted to get back into art.
But this video was very intriguing and may have peaked my interest.

This was a very comprehensive step-by-step video. Kudos!
The sketching phase is where you make all your mistakes and frame out the image. Then the inks clean up that sketch. It's just part of the process.
You've put in so much effort learning stuff to be able to output your magic so BIG respect and love to you dude!
that's the reason I can't do vector sketches on my mobile phone .. can't handle the delay and shaky lines hahaha

THANKYOU for the no-erase tip, as someone who is new to using procreate (I only use it for composition and final drawings etc) this is a total GAMECHANGER! thanks dude, I'm off to do some testing hehe
or you can duplicate the original layer and hide it just in case
@@deea29deea oooo great idea too!
Masking is the method most people use for this purpose.
For color adjustments and color exporting you could try Figma, it supports vector graphics and allows you to select any color in the image to readjust
But no Pantone colors though, which is kind of the point.
Hands down one of the best digital art tutorials I've seen
This was an amazing insight into your process dude, I’ve been looking into starting to use procreate to help me mock up so many different projects. Really nice break down of the steps you take in your work, big up man thanks 🙏 🙂
Thanks for sharing! Really does helps getting our heads around on the whole process! Thanks again
This was great to see the process flow and tips, thanks for sharing. Love the new design too!
As a beginner to the world of digital art, I came here to learn how to get started and find a good tablet to purchase. These tips and tricks are going to be very useful as I get better. I really appreciate you for sharing this video on UA-cam. I hope to learn more. Thank you

I want to be like Ten Hun when I grow up
Wow, what a process and knowledge! Thanks for this, I got some useful tips.
Did anyone get the part where he explains "what" he wished he knew when he was starting digital art? All I got from this video is : get a better tablet, and some more stuff about "printing" the art.
there's a few tips here and there but I dunno if he ever says what he wishes he knew.
Peter!Just got my new IPad Pro & U R a gifted instructor, articulate and thorough in presentation and content, POWERFUL now & Fan ,
Drawing on the wrong layer is the literal worst.
+1
I've learnt a lot from this video, definitely will add this to my playlist.
For hiding lines, layer masks are a great way to do so!
why don't you just pick the screen up in front of your face for the recognition?
true 🤣
Probably when filming it can cause continuity issues
He set it up in a specific place to film it, he creates videos as he works. Moving it creates continuity headaches that waste time later in the process.
It doesn’t always work in my experience, atleast on the iPad it works 50% of the time
And he blurs his passcode like we can hack into his tablet 😂
Have you tried playing the video at 0.75x speed? I find that it helps to slow things down if the content feels like it is go 27:00 ing by too fast.
Thxs for all the advice ten hundred 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for all the details you shared. 👍👍👍
This was massively helpful! I'm getting started with Procreate after almost not experimenting with it for two years and this video helped me understand the non-negotiable basics in a lot more detail. Thanks!
