@@bubbazanetti1527 you are right. Jerry is the main singer in the new albums. Will does sing live way more than Jerry though because they don't play new stuff as much
I don't understand the William hate. I grew up worshipping Layne and was extremely skeptical when I heard some William is going to fill in the shoes of the great Layne. The genius behind Alice in Chains has always been Jerry. Layne was the madman that brought the music vocally to a magical level. William brings his own kind of magic to the newer music. Live he sounds so close to Layne it's ghostly. Mike and Sean are the magic carpet that takes the music to an unearthly place. The new album stands musically to 90s AIC . I'm such a fan of the band that my son's name is Layne Cantrell.
They all said they never intended to have someone as a replacement, Laynes unreplaceable. William said he just wanted to carry on his legacy. I've seen them live and he does put on a good show!

Awesome job. One thing - it sounds in the chorus like they say "an imposter soldiers on." Either way, thanks for the lyrics! This song is beyond amazing.
I'm loving the fact that more fans are FINALLY giving William his just due. Accepting that Layne still lives and breathes in the legacy. The band has continued making phenomenal tunes. That's their job. They've never let me down.
I took my 16 year old son to see AIC with William twice and he loves them as much as I do and I’m 51. Thank you William for carrying the torch and helping the band reach a new generation. Proud Pappa moments for sure.
I'm so glad he's got his hair back. I couldn't deal with the dad haircut. As Mike wrote on his guitar during the AIC Unplugged show "friends dont let friends get haircuts" it was directed at Metallica at the time but still applies now lol
Not too many bands make it after the original singer dies or is replaced. AC/DC, Van Halen, and AIC have really proven it can be done. Pretty damned amazing what William Duvall has been able to do. I never thought it would work. I was so wrong.
Clapton Fan ## i think its great that jerry and layne sang most songs together which they both are so great but im glad jerry sang a few with layne backing him up like "heaven beside you" they can put it on the paper that duvall is lead singer but jerry is the madman with the pen, guitar, and front mic ,,,,"Degradation trip" some cold dark face down real shit if ya havnt gave an ear for it give it a look, rock on✌🎵 say goodbye dnt follow🎶
exactly! still all the albums sound different unlike other bands from their Seattle era. Original band for real! I still listen and follow their music since '92
Jerry was singing the "secondary" vocals all along back at the time of Layne. And since he is gone, on the new records, Jerry is the main vocal, not Duvall.
Not likely. They haven´t been able to induct Joy Division or Thin Lizzy yet they just inducted the kitsch crap rock of Journey and already inducted Green Day
Heavy metal riff Jerry with long hair Old classic Jerry's guitar Coming back to the roots Never clicked so fast, great song, great band. Alice in Chains for ever!!!!!! LSMS
This was badass of them, they didn't announce anything, no trailers, no nothing just one day your scrolling around on YT hoping you'll find something worthy and BOOM you see an AIC video you have to click on like your life depended on it and all of a sudden your soul is back at peace realising good rock still exist. There's still hope for humanity.
Throughout the 90's to present day, Alice In Chains are GODS!! They are the pinnacle of grunge and possibly the greatest band to ever exist. Jerry, Layne, M. Inez, M. Starr, Sean, William, thank you all for everything you write for us!
It seems to me that the bands that never sold out, are the ones that stay true to their roots. Alice in Chains are a testament to this theory. Jerry is as real as it gets, and the reason I've been a fan since day one.
I mean the kinda did sellout. They we're originally hair metally but then switched over to "grunge" just because that's what was popular at the time. They were just following trends.
Slow, heavy and catchy. AIC is back to roots. The sound is amazing as always. Layne Staley is headbanging somewhere in the universe. Chris Cornell too...
Eh. I disagree. I respect him. But Alice has never been the same. Layne brought this gritty, visceral, and very real feel to the music. But that's just my opinion. Jerry has stayed true musically for sure though. That's for damn sure, my guy.
Kaleb Metzger he is no Layne Staley but he did earn it honestly from being a back up singer in Jerry’s solo shows to now William Duval does a great job
I agree. He's spent 10 years being "the guy who fills in for Layne" which isnt fair to him because the band has evolved in sound and they make music a little differently. I get that he isn't Layne and it isn't the same music, but I really dig this evolved alice, and will Hammers out on vocals
He's not actually replacing Layne and the sense of trying to imitate him at all. I think he's very good and they just had to find a way to move on which they're doing now with Duvall. Just like Brian Johnson and Bon Scott. Neither one of them can or should be compared to each other because they both had two vocally different sounds, and Brian Johnson just helped carry the torch for AC/DC the same way Duvall is doing for Alice in chains now, and definitely deserves all credit for doing so.
Please never stop making music Jerry. The new Alice In Chains sound has been very unique and refreshing since 2009. Still an "one of it's kind" band. Please come to Recife, Brazil!

Layne is now dead. AIC has evolved. I'm sure Layne would like this newer sound and would have wanted the band to go on. He wasn't selfish expecting the band to break up just because of his death! I love Layne's sound, always will, but let's not discredit the AIC that's coming out these days!
@@AgnosiaAgnosis give it a rest already we all know we miss him too but William Duvall is a awesome singer as well and they're still successful after Layne
And why? I was a huge GN'R fan until the "reunion", and I've always liked AIC (bought Jerry's two solo albums one being the double CD version, twice the Mad season CD and once The deluxe edition). Jerry rules, but IMHO that new song is not as good as Jerry's solo song for John Wick 2's OST, A job to do).
Listen to this song as if Layne wrote it. It's eerie. "Tell me, does if matter if I'm still here or I'm gone? Shifting to the after, an imposter soldiers on."
Jerry is damn good to his fans. I met him in person back in late 2002 in Seattle. I met Jerry after a Nickelback concert, Jerry Cantrell was doing his own band at that time and were playing before that night. After the concert myself and a NAVY buddy of mine were walking to catch a cab. Out of nowhere we see Jerry who was standing outside a bar on Queen Anne. Jerry was talking to a guy with a woman in a red looking convertible and the drummer was in the back seat. He stopped talking to the guy and took time to autograph a piece of paper I had. I stuck out my hand for a handshake. Jerry did the hand slide instead of a full handshake which was cooler. All I remember was seeing Jerry drive off like a bat out of hell down the street. That memory had to be shared. Jerry unknowingly was real nice and took the time to autograph for two fans who were in the NAVY. In closing, thank you for keeping Alice in Chains alive, fan for life.
Back on DT, Jerry's 2nd solo album, I had the opportunity to talk to him and other members of the band and get them to autograph my jeans. When I was getting Jerry's, on my thigh, I was a little wobbly holding my leg up, balancing with the other, that I started to tip over and grabbed onto Jerry's shoulder of his leather jacket. He was cool with it, laughing. I still remember how wonderful he smelled after showering after the concert before meeting the crowds! Ooh so clean and fresh!
Ian D. I had a similar story Jerry was playing a venue of about 200 called the launch pad in downtown Albuquerque around 97. Me and my brother didn't have tickets so we went behind the bar to see if there was anybody scalping. Jerry and his band came off their tour bus to go Into the gig and came up to us and started talking and shook our hands. Down-to-earth dude and really friendly. He started laughing when I asked him to get us in the gig, and he said we have to go on right now. We ended up getting tics from someone in front of the bar, one of the best shows ever. Thought I would share brother
I love me some Duvall. He is a monster fucking musician and vocalist. Voice blends well with Cantrell also. Thank God we still have some rock bands playing what they love.
For how old they are. The fact they lost a man of a generation and was able to make a great replacement. It shows these guys were not mesnt to die out. Growing up in Tacoma( Hour away from Seattle) all my family ever listened to was Alice In Chains.
Cailon Delano NICE!! Yhea Layne my dude... ONLY two times that EVER affected me from a singer passing was Layne and Chris, Scott not to far behind but wasn’t as emotional when he passed! But Laynes death really took me back wasn’t really surprised just VERY disappointed and was actually pissed for two days lol
DuVall's role in the band is very different from Layne's. The harmonized vocals are the lead vocal now, while Cantrell sings more solo lead, so DuVall is really there to harmonize with Cantrell and add more rhythm guitar (which Layne also played, but not often). This rebalancing of the lead/backup duties actually began before Layne passed, as evident on the self-titled AIC album. So on new material, the split is probably near 50/50 depending on the song, while on old material played live, DuVall has the vocal chops to take over the lead. This is the biggest change in the reinvented AIC, which is a smarter decision than making DuVall a Layne vocal clone like AC/DC did with Brian Johnson. They've become something new, like Pink Floyd did after Sid Barrett.
I try to imagine the song sung by layne, it's definitely another band. Layne was the heart of the band, this is another band that works only technically, harmoniously, but nothing more (spaninglish XD)
While throwback Layne vocals (like man in the box) would be fuckin rad, obviously this song was made for Duvall and Jerry, I completely agree with the AC/DC comments. Rather than trying to ride out the coattails of the Bon Scott days. They somewhat reimagined and made it work really well. Alice in Chains would be dead had they attempted to replace Layne rather than continue without him.
Agreed. Haven't hated a single song of their's, although Love Song from SAP is one I don't particularly like...but it's more goofing off/filler material than a true "song". That said, they may be the only band I can truly say that I don't really hate anything they've ever done, other than possibly Van Halen.
Lucid Ending I kept thinking what would it be like to hear him pealing paint off the walls while singing this song. It has a really “Layne-ish” sound to it. 🤘😎
I still think what would it be like if Layne was still around and he didn't die the music he'll come up with will be so fucking amazing it will tear a void in the space time continuum
I really feel like Jerry doesn't get enough credit at all. And I feel like William gets way too much shit, he's done beautifully to help continue with the music. I'm just happy to hear this kind of tune in 2018...
The intro threw me a bit, but then Jerry started singing, and those harmonies came in on the chorus and I was like "yeah, I fucking love this". There may be no Layne, but this still has his spirit coarsing through its viens
Rainer fog is powerful, it has the characteristic riffs that identify the band and that makes it absolutely great because it is still the strength of the band and that is a good omen! I have waited a long time to fulfill my dream of seeing them live. Soon I will travel to Santiago de Chile to sing all their songs! Greetings from Colombia guys!
I love that AiC adapted their sound after Layne. It's not a completely different band, but rather a new arc. They really dialed into that sludge, groove rock feel.
Wow. The lyrics plainly state, "I'm not the one you know." So what, this is not AIC with Layne, guess what it is now though? AIC, just not the one you know. And I think they sound spectacular, so much so that my 10 year old was banging her head to this when it played on the radio today, just like we did to AIC when we were young. That's how I know this is fine. Layne would want these guys to keep playing, so they are. Respect the Process!!
To be making a song as good as this one how many years latter from when they began is a huge accomplishment. Probably my favorite song of the year so far.
arv4572 well I will tell you a friend of mine had an 80s model G&L Rampage and being car body work pro he was able to stick every single decal on his just like the original blue dress guitar. During the black gives way to blue tour we wanted this guitar signed. We never expected Cantrell wanting to buy it and let us hang out on their tour bus. He ended up buying my friends guitar as well as him also sending a 1 of 3 prototype Rampage guitars G&L made for him. He had his guitar tech send it to him about a week after the tour ended. So whether he reads this or not.. Jerry is a cool dude. I have a story, some pictures and my friend has a 1 of a kind prototype guitar with all its paper work proving the occasion happened. So Idk about reading comments but every musician knows their music help people in all sorts of ways.
AIC were ALWAYS the best band to come out of Seattle and this just proves it, they evolved their sound but never strayed too far from their beginnings, and this is the trait of a great band that stands the tests of time and tragedy..
James Ní Oisdealbhach absolutely! Staley was just as talented vocally as Cobain or Cornell. In fact, I think he sounded better. Cantrell was a genius song writer and his guitar stuff was leaps and bounds ahead of Nirvana, Pearl Jam or Soundgarden. Track for track it's not even close for me. The sludginess of the 3 legged dog album, the blending of voices and killer riffs of FACELIFT, and the beauty and variety of Dirt. Then they showed their range of talents with SAP and Jar of Flies. Now they have proven they can still record true rock music in this era. It's amazing
Agreed 100% I never really liked any other Seattle "Grunge" bands to be honest, To me Alice were always more on the Metal side than any of the rest of them.
Well said my friend...These guys are so underrated. They deserve to be placed with the elite in the hall of fame already with the body of work they currently have. They are a total class act
Funcheon Mc Trunch in the begginings AIC sounded like a hairband, they evolved their style too, not only their sound. You can ser that on songs like I can't have you blues or Social parasite.
I am pretty certain that this is about aliens / humans among us that know that we are all fucked. I am hoping for the former though. Collecting samples to send back to the Mothership!
Im one of their biggest fans. I love them with Layne and William. I think Alice's sound is heavier now than in the 90's. Dirt will always be my favorite but their latest songs are heavier sounding. I think that's at least a little change.
Whether you mean this in a negative way or not, I'll have to disagree with you. Their sound has changed quite some since the early 90's. They've always been 'grungy' but they've slowly shifted their sound to adapt a tad more to current rock music, but at the same time, preserving their signature sound to a great extent.
I disagree. They peaked with Dirt and it's been downhill ever since. I'm not saying their newer material is absolute shit--it's not. But it's nowhere near as inspired and authentic as their first couple of albums. To me this sounds SAFE and low-risk. I'd rather hear them try something really new--even if it failed commercially it would still be better than this drivel.
Now that you put it like that, I see exactly where you're coming from. Dirt is their best album, and I can't argue with that. But there's always gonna be 2 sides of the same coin - people who like seeing traditional-esque AIC, and those who want them to go a slightly different route. Seems that we're a prime example of said sides having a clash of opinions here. I've noticed this as a trend in music fans, specifically rock, in the past decade or so, where different people want more variety out of bands they admire, then those who display disdain toward bands' experimentation. Either way, I can trust that if AiC are gonna experiment with a different approach, I can't expect them to **not** perfect it down to an art. That being said, if they diverge a bit from their grunge route into something more experimental, I'd be cautiously optimistic. But there's absolutely no problem whatsoever with what they're doing now, because they sound fuckin' amazing.
Do you want them to come out with a disco album or even a Kpop album? The fuck do you want? It's rock music pal. SAFE? What is not safe? Tell me these rock bands that do something not safe? ST. Anger wasn't safe.....
Jerry is an underrated guitarist and composer. Then again AIC is still somewhat known in the music scene still today... other amazing bands deserve so much more recognition than what they have (I'm thinking about bands like Devin Townsend or Leprous that I both love to death as well)
I was thinking this exact thing as I was listening to this song. I'm so glad he played a big part vocally when Layne was still alive. He's the reason the band hasn't completely adopted a different sound like some bands do when they replace vocalists. This song even sounds like it could have come out in 1994. Jerry better end up in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Alice in Chains have the talent and temperament to survive another three decades, with Jerry at the helm. Heck if the Stones can do it, these alt rock leviathans surely can. Go, you great gravelly guitar gods!!
Alice In Chains will forever be my favorite band, no questions asked. With all the energy and effort they put in their music, they are deserving of a number one slot in someone's mind for their favorite band.
Kai I see you like FNM. If you like this AIC song go listen to Cantrell's solo album "Degradation Trip" too....Mike Bordin plays drums....probably you already know about it. Killer album.
Jerry Cantrell had written every song back then and still is today, yet I feel he hasn’t lost any of his touch. This is Alice in Chains, the same ones who produced Dirt, now releasing more music for the masses. I definitely rank them as one of the great bands that have aged perfectly, and I can’t wait for what they do next.
MKmarcos97 Correct. PJ should have cut the cord after Yield in 98, since their 21st C fare has been pedestrian at best. Even Binaural sounds maudlin laced with sludge. Good for a night around the campfire, but hardly exciting arena material. When they lost it, their West Coast mantle passed to the Foo Fighters, coincidentally at almost the same time Pearl Jam finished their last decent record.
Pearl Jam went to hell when Eddie decided he was going to co-write songs on the guitar rather than simply add lyrics and vocal lines over the band's real musicians' tracks. What were Stone, Jeff and Mike gonna do about it? He was Eddie Vedder!
arv4572 lol you're literally talking shit to someone you don't even know in a UA-cam comment section, how do you think your parents would feel about this?

I am a massive Layne fan HOWEVER this song kicks ass!!! Truly. Love the vocals, love the arrangement. All the verses, chorus and bridge, Duvals and Cantrells voices go really well together
They have never disappointed, not one album has been lackluster. I'm looking forward to the new material, this modern classic is a great way to get started.
PazzaTV facelift is one of my all time favorite albums. Dirt was a masterclass and the 3 legged dog album was solid. The acoustic showed they had much more depth than just heavy chops and Jar of flies and SAP were arguably 2 of the best ep's I've ever heard. Then after Staley passed I never thought they would ever record again as Alice in Chains. Now after 2 albums and an upcoming 3rd I can't see how anyone could deny them entrance into the Rock Hall of Fame.
All their albums have been great. Funnily enough I've been listening to their newer stuff more recently (TDPDH/BGWTB) - these guys definitely need to make the hall of fame on that alone; a band that's new material can stand up to its older stuff, that's rare.

Are you surprised black water flows
From wells run dry?

Duvall just sings back up and plays rhythm
exactly! still all the albums sound different unlike other bands from their Seattle era. Original band for real! I still listen and follow their music since '92
In case of Soundgarden, i am sad.
Jerry was singing the "secondary" vocals all along back at the time of Layne. And since he is gone, on the new records, Jerry is the main vocal, not Duvall.
Elect into Hall of Fame. Period
HOF First time induction MUST happen for AIC! If not? Burn the entire hall to the fucking ground, for it truly is meaningless!
AIC doesn't need HOF, HOF needs AIC.
Not likely. They haven´t been able to induct Joy Division or Thin Lizzy yet they just inducted the kitsch crap rock of Journey and already inducted Green Day
Give them time they will.
Induct AIC and SP this year..both deserving
What a chorus!
Tell me does it matter, if I’m still here or I’m gone!
I'm more partial to the verses. I LOVE how Jerry sings them!
Heavy metal riff
Jerry with long hair
Old classic Jerry's guitar
Coming back to the roots
Never clicked so fast, great song, great band. Alice in Chains for ever!!!!!! LSMS
Alvaro Bass World actually a new (black) version of Jerry's white "blue dress" he's retired the OG from touring these days, it's on its last legs
Ryan Huddleston I've read some stuff about his gear. Didn't know 'bout that. Cool fact mate!
Layne would be so proud
This was badass of them, they didn't announce anything, no trailers, no nothing just one day your scrolling around on YT hoping you'll find something worthy and BOOM you see an AIC video you have to click on like your life depended on it and all of a sudden your soul is back at peace realising good rock still exist.
There's still hope for humanity.
Mercyful Media - they teased it on social media for almost a week prior. It's an absolutely killer song
Bronson Jones I guess we were all caught up trying to digest APC’s new album that we hardly didn’t notice jajajaja
Now that was an awesome paragraph. Well done, laddie!
fuk ya friend
Well said sir
SEAN is still Killing it on the drums 😃👍
Bryon Devine
Absolutely! Killer drummer!
Yes he is the #1 underrated drummer of all times
Bryon Devine i love sean
The offset ride sybol in the beginning 😎
Bryon Devine easy drum..
Throughout the 90's to present day, Alice In Chains are GODS!! They are the pinnacle of grunge and possibly the greatest band to ever exist. Jerry, Layne, M. Inez, M. Starr, Sean, William, thank you all for everything you write for us!
Im a 90s kid I know my music
World: there is no such thing as perfection.
Jerry Cantrell's guitar tone: hold my fequencies.
Insane!!! Hard to believe they still have their signature sound after all these years. Just amazing.
It seems to me that the bands that never sold out, are the ones that stay true to their roots. Alice in Chains are a testament to this theory. Jerry is as real as it gets, and the reason I've been a fan since day one.
Rosco P Coltrane several of there shows on this tour are sold out.
Wintericed Oh. Thanks for correcting my airheadedness in a nice way. I’m not even blonde.😆
I mean the kinda did sellout. They we're originally hair metally but then switched over to "grunge" just because that's what was popular at the time. They were just following trends.
For sure man, you're right
As far as i remember it was only Layne who was in hair metal band before Alice In Chains but i may be wrong.
How can they still sound soooo authentic Alice in Chains...
Jerry
Sean
Mike
For real!
The band was always more than any one member
because theyre alice in chains
Because they have never lost sight of who they are and what they believe in & represent.
Slow, heavy and catchy. AIC is back to roots. The sound is amazing as always. Layne Staley is headbanging somewhere in the universe. Chris Cornell too...
It's a great fucking song that i like better then most songs with Staley as singer
William Duval really earned his spot in the band
Almost like he has been there the whole time
Eh.

Jerry is an absolute legend , William kills it ! And Mike and Sean continue to give off the signature AIC kick and grit it deserves , rock on boys 🤘🤘🤘
Starting to look a little like Willie Nelson. Haha.
Jerry Cantrell was and is the brainchild of AIC. Look how this one sounds like the old AIC. This is JAM !
Sounds nothing like the old AiC...
Eddie Garcia
exactly, and that’s how you
know, that layne was the soul
of the band.
Layne is now dead. AIC has evolved. I'm sure Layne would like this newer sound and would have wanted the band to go on. He wasn't selfish expecting the band to break up just because of his death! I love Layne's sound, always will, but let's not discredit the AIC that's coming out these days!
You know that Alice is back when Jerry comes back with long hair again
this!
I'll know they're back when Layne rises from the dead
@@AgnosiaAgnosis give it a rest already we all know we miss him too but William Duvall is a awesome singer as well and they're still successful after Layne
@hala-madrid bocata.de.jamon.11 he's so bad ..
💪
The two best comebacks of all time, AC/DC with Brian Johnson, and Alice In Chains 10 years ago with William on board.
Will is a bad man....saw them do Love Hate Love the other night, didn't shy away from it, place went nuts.
Such an awesome song. Jerry is the king of great riffs
Didn't expect to see you here
Guns N' Roses Central jerry and jimmy page
Tony iommi? Of course
You mean kerry king very reign in blood 😂
the return of the monster jerry wah solo. hell yeah.
up
I will always respect the awesomeness that is Alice in Chains
Ian D. Can I ask you what in theee fuck you were doing at a nickleback concert?
Dustin Nichols Enjoying good music. You're an idiot if you're gonna hate Nickelback because it's the popular thing to do.
Dude nickleback his pop rock for teenage kids lol. I bet you like Fred durst too
I love me some Duvall. He is a monster fucking musician and vocalist. Voice blends well with Cantrell also. Thank God we still have some rock bands playing what they love.
shawshaynk layne is irreplaceable but duvall is the best possible replacement
Sarcastic Squash DuVall is a great fit, can't think of anyone better for the job.
Duvall.......is that his name? I thought he just went by Lenny Kravitz Jr.
@@sickboy3636 You mean Lenny Kravitz Jr. calls himself William DuVall
It’s very nice to see a guy play guitar and sing these days. That shit just don’t happen nowadays
Jerry Cantrell. Icon. Inspiration. Idol. Pro. Legend. Thank you for doing what you do bro. You saved me.
This song is just as good as some of their old stuff.
Hell no, this song is good, but their old stuff is legendary imo
Old as in Layne Staley era? Hell no!!! William is good, but Layne is on a different level
For how old they are. The fact they lost a man of a generation and was able to make a great replacement. It shows these guys were not mesnt to die out. Growing up in Tacoma( Hour away from Seattle) all my family ever listened to was Alice In Chains.
Jerry is from Tacoma
Cailon Delano NICE!! Yhea Layne my dude... ONLY two times that EVER affected me from a singer passing was Layne and Chris, Scott not to far behind but wasn’t as emotional when he passed! But Laynes death really took me back wasn’t really surprised just VERY disappointed and was actually pissed for two days lol
Still watch Laynes unplugged few times a month and get teary eyed every time!
Not a great replacement he can barley hit any of the notes that layne could thats whats jerrys there for ahah without him this band would be dead
no one can ever replace layne, his voice moved mountains, perfect for grunge
Jerry still writing bad ass songs
My favorite vocal by him. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
No he's not lol
Jerry is the music, the sound, the brain of AIC. Layne was the voice, heart and soul.
@@AgnosiaAgnosis why are you here then lol
@@KingJulien-lm2if because he USED to...
Nothing like Pink Floyd did after Syd Barrett. C'mon man. This ain't bad but doesn't compete with the Layne work.
This comment is such a gold mine, real informative thankx
I try to imagine the song sung by layne, it's definitely another band. Layne was the heart of the band, this is another band that works only technically, harmoniously, but nothing more (spaninglish XD)
While throwback Layne vocals (like man in the box) would be fuckin rad, obviously this song was made for Duvall and Jerry, I completely agree with the AC/DC comments. Rather than trying to ride out the coattails of the Bon Scott days. They somewhat reimagined and made it work really well. Alice in Chains would be dead had they attempted to replace Layne rather than continue without him.
biff022 thats the point, they said they don't Want to sound like they did with layne.
Whole band still kicking ass. William compliments Jerry’s voice so well.
Welcome back, Alice in Chains
lionheart21 they never left
Michael Dine it is their first song since 2013
lionheart21 👍💯🔥
IN CANTRELL WE TRUST!
They never really left.
The chorus is beautiful ...
AIC has never made a song I hated. This song is true to the band's essence once again. Keep up the good work guys! RIP Layne
Motovader72 So true, always wondered how in hell literally ALL their songs are masterpieces
Agreed. Haven't hated a single song of their's, although Love Song from SAP is one I don't particularly like...but it's more goofing off/filler material than a true "song". That said, they may be the only band I can truly say that I don't really hate anything they've ever done, other than possibly Van Halen.
UKSportsFan Yeah that song is a goof for sure. Lol
This is solid Alice in Chains!! The Harmonies, heavy and beautiful
On repeat...
...until the next single.
Great track from AIC. Layne would be proud.
@@thedarkforce9596 , it'd wipe out the very fabric of existence!
I feel like AIC is the modern day Black Sabbath! Dark and heavy hitting!
I was about to say something similar....and you know...I like this sound theyre still fucking solid
Well said. Because that´s a fact.
It’s funny cause some of their riffs use a similar scale that Tony Iommi used
Or could be a pretty obvious rip-off of the breakdown in Raining Blood by Slayer?
They are timeless
AIC is back. Love the sound. Jerry is a true legend and William fits the bill perfectly. Thank you so much for the decades of great music.
I really feel like Jerry doesn't get enough credit at all. And I feel like William gets way too much shit, he's done beautifully to help continue with the music. I'm just happy to hear this kind of tune in 2018...
This is the best song of 2018. In my opinion.
Concordo!
Terry Hardacre I totally agree. I’ve listened to this so many times since first hearing it. The song is killer and the clip is superb. Love it.
...and fuck you Imagine Dragons!!!
Terry Hardacre I agree great song!!
Oh, but they obviously peeked when they where younger. Just like Metallica.
This is powerful. I look forward to the new album
Leidy Gordillo M. Tell me about it!
They really dialed into theft from a 2 piece girl band. They know who I’m talking about.
Justin Cochran i agree get over the fact they have a new Singer AcDc could do it so can aic. Appreciating something is more fun that aversion
Right on brother
To be making a song as good as this one how many years latter from when they began is a huge accomplishment. Probably my favorite song of the year so far.
Alice In Chains has never let me down in life, always keeping good music in focus ! thank you for keeping the heart of real rock alive !
arv4572 k
arv4572 lol
RodrigoDigoJunho
This track is dissapointment when compared to stone
arv4572 well I will tell you a friend of mine had an 80s model G&L Rampage and being car body work pro he was able to stick every single decal on his just like the original blue dress guitar.
They're all great, but Kinney is something else. My favourite drummer of all time. An absolute master of his craft.
Jerry, layne is somewhere off in the ather, proud of you, I'm proud of you, may aic live on forever
@@bradcarter5403 the guitar stuff from AIC, bounds and leaps ahead of Soungarden?!?!? I don't think so.
Funcheon Mc Trunch in the begginings AIC sounded like a hairband, they evolved their style too, not only their sound. You can ser that on songs like I can't have you blues or Social parasite.
Heavy riffs, amazing harmonies, and sci-fi music video. Alice In Chains for life! Killing it as usual gents.
I didn't understand what occurred in the video.
I am pretty certain that this is about aliens / humans among us that know that we are all fucked. I am hoping for the former though. Collecting samples to send back to the Mothership!
No one comes up with better choruses than Jerry. It sounds so Alice In Chainsy, but new and refreshing. Idk how he does it after all of these years
Jerry has long hair again! rocking track, I'm pumped for the new album
Finn Dahuman he just didn't look right without it.
Crazy how they still sound the same after almost 30 years. Alice In Chains will never die
If it's not broken as they say...
It's called *not evolving*
and if they "evolve" then ppl bitch about the change..lol
Im one of their biggest fans. I love them with Layne and William. I think Alice's sound is heavier now than in the 90's. Dirt will always be my favorite but their latest songs are heavier sounding. I think that's at least a little change.
Feels like we waited forever for this and of course, AIC did not disappoint!!! Forever the best.
Layne is definitely smiling down at Jerry, and William! William Duvall was definitely the right choice to carry on AIC.
I woke up this morning and logged on to UA-cam, and saw that Alice had released a new song. Immediately my face erupted into a giant joker grin.
MJSpiritual I need the full album. Now!!!
💀. Smiles.
Yeah, this is very good. Can't wait for the lp
I'm happy music like this is still made in 2018
HOW DO THEY STILL SOUND CONSISTENTLY GOOD AFTER NEARLY 30 YEARS
Cause they keep doing the exact same thing every time.
Incrível como o Alice in chains nunca perde a essência sombria e pesada do bom e velho rock..AMAZING.
Jerry is still underrated as hell
Jerry is underrated singer and Chris Cornell was an underrated guitarist
Tarukaja Devin is extremely underated. Can't wait to hear what he does next.
I always thought he was pretty well respected? If not he bloody well should be!!!
When u get the notification that AIC made a new 1

AWESOME! Real heavy stuff here from a band that just never stops delivering great music!
Finally, a good reason to be alive in 2018

How new is this song?
Alice In Chains will forever be my favorite band, no questions asked. With all the energy and effort they put in their music, they are deserving of a number one slot in someone's mind for their favorite band.
Totally agree.

I must admit, I didn't listen to much AIC after Layne passed.. but I really like this song. Jerry's voice does their new songs justice.
Nice profile picture, man!!!
Kai I see you like FNM. If you like this AIC song go listen to Cantrell's solo album "Degradation Trip" too....Mike Bordin plays drums....probably you already know about it. Killer album.

this is NOT Alice In Chains
NuevaRomay It is. Layne did not make the band. They all did. Now fuck off.
Layne get back!!! We need your voice power here to open up our souls!
It's not Alice.
Jerry Cantrell had written every song back then and still is today, yet I feel he hasn’t lost any of his touch. This is Alice in Chains, the same ones who produced Dirt, now releasing more music for the masses. I definitely rank them as one of the great bands that have aged perfectly, and I can’t wait for what they do next.
when the chorus kicks in...goosebumps!!!! damn Jerry...you took us back to the Facelift AIC on this one
This band is one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. AMAZING!!! Different, enjoyable... still alice!
AS USUAL SOUNDS AMAZING, CANT WAIT FOR THE NEW ALBUM WITH THIS AS A TEASER!🤘🏽🙌🏽
while Nirvana has ended and Pearl jam makes soft songs for grandmas, AIC keeps the heavy spirit alive
Haha.. yeah. I couldn't give two shits about new Pearl Jam music. They suck big time now. AiC is still awesome.
was just thinking that
the most correct PJ comment I've ever heard.
Pearl Jam went to hell when Eddie decided he was going to co-write songs on the guitar rather than simply add lyrics and vocal lines over the band's real musicians' tracks. What were Stone, Jeff and Mike gonna do about it? He was Eddie Vedder!
One of their best songs all time
This song is the result of Alice in Chains making incredible music. I love the melodic part with the chords after a big and hard riff

I'm not the one you know
Tell me, does it matter
If I'm still here, or I'm gone?
Shifting to the after
An impostor, so disowned
Are you surprised black water flows
From wells run dry?
I'm not the one you know
I'm not the one you know
You know what game fits with this song? Prey (2017)
@@k0rriban cool tnx 4 this
I am a massive Layne fan HOWEVER this song kicks ass!!!
Hell YES!!! This is what is called an eargasm!
MelissaBarker no, no Melissa, eargasm is sooooo pre War. My five year old niece has already ditched that. She recommends to you aural snatch lava, apparently all the excessively pre tweens are using it.
Some bands are meant to be heard forever
Yesterday's show at Alpharetta, GA was just pure joy. Thank you for bringing this to us! William is just one love, such an awesome performer and a true driver
Can't wait for this album to come out.
