My grandfather was a captain in ww2
He was figting with his Thomson then it went out of ammo so he picked up an stg and from that day it was all he carried
He said it was the most reliable weapon he ever had

where'd he get ammo I feel like you'd have to take ammo off every German you find and I don't think most had StGs. I'm not doubting you btw just curious I know German soldiers liked to carry the ppsh and Russians liked the mp40 and so on lol so I know it happened but you know lol. actually if you watch the movie Stalingrad the 1991 version from Germany(awesome movie btw) you can see a few Germans with the ppsh in one scene they had a new kid one and tell him its better.

@@Emira_75 its possible either way lol its not unheard of allies did take guns off Germans. But it does seem like a huge pain. I mean the StG44 was a fantastic rifle id liked to have carried one its just the ammo thing lol. I mean i could see someone carrying both a lee enfield/garand what have you and a StG but that would be very heavy so idk.

If I remember correctly, near the end of WW2 Hitler didn't want any more rifles manufactured, just machine pistols. However, the designers snuck this rifle in under the radar and called it the Machine Pistol 44. When Hitler finally saw it he loved it so much that it became a piece of propaganda and was renamed as the Sturmgewehr, or Storm Rifle.

The StG 44 was called(After it became a closed bolt weapon) MP43,yes..But not because Hitler did not want to production and development to stop,he specifically wanted the MkB42 Program to stop....
And later he only agreed to see it being produced after he heard of the praise the"new automatic rifle" got..Hitler originally wanted the G43 and FG42 to become the new standard rifle@@theonerecker5245

Fixes to the two common issues with this:
1. Extremely stiff stock lock pin: When you manage to get the pin out of the hole. Take the small wire thing that acts as a button out of the pin and put the pin back in. It will still be stiff to remove but nowhere near as bad. Just a little force to get it out
2. Dust cover door stuck open: Take the bar holding the door out. Get the spring and flip it the opposite way so it keeps the door shut as apposed to open. You can still open the door but youll have to hold it down with your finger if you're changing your hop up
3. Mag not feeding BBs:
Get a piece of tape or velcro and place it on the left or right hand side of the mag slot. This is due to the metal getting worn from mag changing and not keeping mag in tight enough to allow a smooth ammo feed

Maybe putting a MP5 mags guts inside the shell of the High Caps might be an option as they do not make Mid Caps for it. I did that for my PPSH.
I've got one of these, but not the upgraded version, mine shoots 1,4 Joules, very powerful and very accurate. Our field limit in SA is 1,5. Very heavy to use for a whole day though.

both are such a delight to fire...the kar98 is rock solid and has never had a feed problem

It was called the MP-43 / MP-44 so it saunded like a upgrade of the MP-40. Because hitller dident want to divelop a new type of rifle wen it was prisented to hitller he named it to the STG-44.

What kind of shipping did you choose when you ordered this gun? The usual EMS shipping is not available, but the more expensive FedEx is the only option. I am not really willing to pay shipping 50% of the guns value...
It was named machine pistol because hitler hated the idea of an fully automatic rifle so they had to hide it while it was in development as a submachine gun. In his mind there were bolt action rifles for the infantry man, sub machine guns for the officers and machine guns for the support squads. Hitler named it sturmgewehr when they finally showed its true power to him and he instantly fell in love with it. Atleast thats how I know, it may be entirely wrong.
No hate to mike or anything. Amazing video and production/review of the STG-44 but the reason behind it (and the aforementioned MP-40 at the beginning) was called a “machine pistol” is because during the war and subsequently the development/production of the MP-40 and MP-44 was to hide the production of the guns from Hitler cause he had initially cancelled the production of the STG-44 deeming it “unnecessary and uneeded” since they had the MP-40 but eventually once the gun was field tested and soldiers actually liked it Hitler green lit for more guns to be made and the name changed from MP-44 to STG-44

I also have one, that i bought like 3-4 weeks ago. I love it. The only thing it miss is a mid cap mag, hate hi caps.

would recommend you have hop unit swapped out to a lonex hop unit just because agm ones are a not best quality another good upgrade that's worth doing is swap the nozzle to a shs red nozzle had my stg for years with this set up.

A stg44 has a different outer barrel
, it's, straight not stepped
A stg does not have a nut at the end of the barrel. A mp43 does.
A stg has no "wings" at the rear sight, a mp43 has.
So now you think it's a mp43 : nope
The ventholes are different and the frontsight is different.
So it's a mp43/stg44 hybride
I wonder if you could gut the internals of the mag, and put a spring and folower and use it in a real gun.

The outer barrel and gas tube were loose and kept falling out.
Biggest flaw about this is how far the charging handle goes and the selector switch as well as the area around it.

I bought one of them repacked by S&T earlier this year and I'm a bit disappointed... for this price I found many little problems on mine like when you pull back the charging handle it touches the hop up gears and the front sight wich is not aligned withe the rear one and other little things that make me prefer my denix stg even if it doesn't shoot...
