PSA is resurrecting the STG-44!

- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- STG-44 reproductions have been in the works from Hill & Mac Gun Works for a while, and now Palmetto State Armory is onboard to bring it across the finish line! The STG-44 reproduction is part of PSA's new "Battlefield" line of retro inspired guns. There area few modern touches such as a new magazine pattern, and a tweaked gas system to help make the gun more shootable, but the look and feel is faithful to the original.

I remember when HMG said guns would ship "soon" for YEARS, I have no trust in them. PSA is the only thing giving these guys cred
^^^THIS^^^ .....100% AGREE!
Hmg took people's 5k deposits for like a decade, promising stupid stuff like ar mag and AK mag receivers.
I looked at the lawsuit they were talking about. From the summary I read, they partnered with True Precision to make parts for rifles. They sued for the following:
1) Breach of contract for failure to manufacture firearms,
2) reach of contract for posting a video on Vimeo in violation of the confidentiality agreement,
3)Failing to deliver on promised delivery dates on which HMG had relied (Promissory Estoppel),
4)Taking “machines, materials, parts, tools, and training” from HMG and not compensating them (Unjust Enrichment),
5)Holding parts that they had made hostage, thereby preventing HMG from delivering to customers (Interference with performance of a contract),
6)Negligent misrepresentation in claiming that they could produce the StG,
7) failing to return the machines, parts, and tools (Conversion).
I don't trust HMG, but PSA has often delivered on promises. No MP5, but much of the R&D on this STG had already been done and PSA would probably only have to make some minor changes, inhouse production, and ship it.
@ja0298 that's dirty so it may haven't Bern there fault
I was fully prepared to be disappointed by this. But the different caliber options and the features that it has while still maintaining the Stg44 look and feel is awesome.
Been promised since 2015. Lets hope it actually comes out this time.
it would have been DOA if they only offered it in 8kurz.

@@soylentgreen7074 it's PSA! It will
The different calibers and other silly features are what sank this project originally by making it way more complicated than it needed to be. If it was only 7.62x39, it would have come out back in 2015.
While I've always wanted an original, or at least a clone in 7.92×33mm Kurz, the fact that PSA is going to offer them in the more readily available 7.62×39mm Russian makes me want one more.

Me too! I've found myself getting bored with modern firearms. As far as utility, I own guns that are the pinnacle of modern firearm technology. So, where do we go from here? The Battlefield line seems to be the answer to that. I'm finally excited about getting "new" guns again and I don't have to spend $5,000 on an original piece of history.
@@Centermass762 Exactly, finding out that I am too young to have ever collected older firearms at a reasonable price was a deep letdown, I don't care if they are originals or modern reproductions, only that they are cool and that I want one I can shoot.

The reason is identical to why the airsoft market doesn't have every firearm model even though it is much cheaper, the market just isn't there. Most people barely shell out the money to buy an AR and a handgun, usually it is one or the other. Very few people will buy unconventional or dated models. Usually most people spend money on ammunition as their primary expense.

With CNC manufacturing being what it is, there is a real opportunity for repro firearms such as this. I am really interested in the StG-44. I wonder what other firearms might be re-produced.
Past limitations with these kind of firearms was that "authentic" patterns were stamped receivers, which is a method best suited for high-volume production with low per-unit cost but high capital cost. Modern CNC processes are the inverse, which is why rifles made from wholly milled parts like AR-15s are easier to be made between many small manufacturers in the US. Honestly the switch the CNC machining in the modern day really makes stamped receiver productions more expensive than the alternatives.

Came to post the same thing. It totally ruins the look of the gun, I'd be fine if they actually stamped something into the gun so it'd be a bit lower key and more historical looking (even if not accurate to the real thing) but this is totally out of place. It's especially bad on this particular gun since it's the sort of thing a lot of people will buy more as a wallhanger than a shooter.
Is it easy to remove something like that? Just curious if anyones removed something like this before
maybe its just for the shot show "display" one? also could you just sand it off or something?

PSA’s major problem with new items…. They get everyone excited and everyone orders the first generation, then they start changing or “improving” things and/or stop supporting the guys the bought into the first Gen stuff. Ask me how I know!
I am looking at a first generation PSA AK-74 lower that I bought and at the time was waiting on a lower parts kit on back order. We started having major function issues with the Gen 1 units (I had a factory built Gen 1 unit at the time as well). Then PSA decided to “make it better” with a second generation version. PSA, drop the emblem!!!
It's awesome, and I'm glad they're doing it. But I think it differs too much from the original, especially for an MSRP north of $2000.
It's like coming out with a semi-auto PKM clone in .308, that feeds from the left side with M13 links, and uses ar15 grips and triggers. I'm sure some people will be stoked for it, but people (like myself) that want something that has the same manual of arms will be disappointed. But it is still super cool.

Very valid point: collectors willing to pay top dollar want a gun as close to the original as possible including being able to use original mags in the original caliber. Shooters are not so picky but will balk at the price. That is why the multi caliber swap is utterly retarded: collectors can afford it but don't want it while shooters like the idea but will run for the hills when they see the price tag... 4 calibers? That's awesome!
This was my favorite,sub-machine gun from the era.
What is that magazine's capacity, like 40 rounds?
It's huge freakin' huge.
Imagine if the ATF didn't exist for a second. Full auto STG in 7.62x39
das ist gut
do your paperwork and you can own a full auto
@@whereisthebalance5732
Or the ATF and the government could leave us all the hell alone.
@@keenumman1 no ones going to let you buy machine guns without paperwork buddy dont cry to much about it.

Why buy when you can make your own. You can get a lot done with faith and basic machining knowledge. Also the internet and 3d printing is a thing.
PSA is the coolest kid in school when it comes to arms manufacturers
Oh yeah, we also need this in 6.5 Grendel! Get Some! Sweet...🤤🤗👍🏼
the fact that hill and mac is involved , tells me to avoid it like the titanic , they're liars , they completely mislead all of their clients and strung everyone along for 48 months , and now they're working with palmetto ? if the firearm is ever finished and functions , i'll still not want it , because it looks way off from the original and that's supposed to be the point , which they've missed .
Yeah it’s not even the same gun it’s hmg44 really not a stg44. The fact that it doesn’t have the cool lines or dust cover is enough for me to not want it.
@@jdl9679maybe thats what they're spending all this time on lol
My two favorite retro guns in my collection is my great grandfather’s stg44 and a AR10B from the 1950s that I picked up out west
Just in time for the communists in my state to ban me from owning one.
(I’m sorry UA-cam, WAS THIS HATE SPEECH????)
Oh my god, I would love one of these either in .556 or 7.62… I hope PSA does the PPSH-41 chambered in 9mm and possibly modulated
We have heard all of this before. Hope it works out THIS time.
Doesnt really look that good honestly, compare a real stg 44 or even a ptr 44 and you see the glaring differences.
Then you make one for a reasonable price
It’s not even a stg44 idk what market they are trying to get at but it doesn’t satisfy the collectors and it probably won’t be worth a damn for guys wanting to run and gun with them either
