  • There are certain things in life that are in our control, and there are certain things that are not in our control. But we humans have the tendency to attach everything to ourselves, leading to stress, anxiety, depression, and whatnot. Watch this video about Stoicism to find out what it is and how it changed my life.

I just realized I'm practicing stoicism without knowing anything about it prior. I came to this state of mind after facing a lot of disappointments and misfortunes in my life. I don't think people can start practicing stoicism by themselves only life experience can teach them.

    1) accept what u can't change
    2) let go and go with the.flow.of.nature
    3) imagine your death .. death meditation .. (it will motivate u to strive for work as u will have a pov that life.is so short)
    4)

Tbh I am a very satisfied, uninterested, not influenced person who does not want anything from life.. now watching your video I realized there is too much of stoicism in me.. I didn't know the word but I knew how I am functioning. And this completely acceptance of situation of life is also not a good thing because this led to me disinterested in my own life and don't wish to live life because there is nothing to achieve it as I am already satisfied of everything... So actually I am trying to think opposite of what u are proposing.. I am trying to unaccept and change my circumstances and be more curious and trying to set small goals for myself.. trying to be little passionate about things than before.. trying to engage in my life and exploring new things.. I think thats the difference between a passionate and not so passionate person, a pessimistic and an optimist person .. beacuse for u Stoicism is a life changer Philosophy but for people like me opposite of that is what I need .. I think this is because passionate people are too restless they want to accomplish and concern new things while I am always in rest which sometimes makes me frustrated

6:36 i think i can describe what you're describing better. its not about not feeling sad or angry but to feel it in its entirety and focus on it and remember exactly how it feels so you slowly become comfortable with it. you seperate emotion and action and simply becomee comfortable with the emotions you do feel instead of suppressing them. just sit and observe your emotion and exactly how it feels and instead of suppressing it focus on it as much as you can and you'll start accepting and processing emotions in the best possible way

What are ur thoughts on it?

I hope you can answer this. On one hand you are trying to practice stoicism in which ideally , you won't be unsatisfied with whatever nature is throwing at you , and on the other hand, you are celebrating the massive increase in life expectancy through human efforts (whose driving factor is unsatisfaction and hunger for more ) .
So which side are you inclined towards ? I know you are into Stoicism to some extent but I am sure not fully, else you won't have wanted and worked for a better life probably.

    WTF DUDE 🤯
I am practicing it since last 4 years without knowing I was in depression kind of state bcoz of COVID and backlogs and changes in life.
So I started accepting them and weighting then down only mistake I did was overdo it and not focusing on improving it like in a day I used to think atleast 10 times i have backlogs ,I have work to do . But not do it rather write it get off with it and start wasting time but soon i realised this is not working and then after i started working on it with writing and that habit continue till date .

Varun sir I've been following stoicism for almost 4 years but I recently got a doubt that if u are always thinking about and preparing for the worst-case scenarios won't u be surrounded by negativity all the time? so I started experimenting on the other side of the spectrum like being positive and it tbh freed my mind a little but I think if u fail u do get demotivated but that's not the case for me cause I have good emotional resilience not the best. i just wanna know ur opinion on this and i strongly believe in the "care only about the things in life that are in our control"
