I'm 46 and have only recently found this movie, but I've been watching it every October now since 2017. I love the old school feel of this movie and all the actors and actresses who made a wonderful feel good family movie.
I remember coming home early from trick or treating to watch this. There used to be a UA-cam version of this with the original commercials. I sure do miss that version, and I think you would get a kick out of it. Fritz was the principal in Welcome Back Kotter. Brom Bones was a very famous Hall of Fame linebacker. Also, the movie was filmed in Utah.
I am 52 & I start watching this every Fall season, I love the nostalgia. Once I reached my mid/late 40’s I started gravitating back towards everything I watched during my childhood in the 70’s & early 80’s. Love it all, even things I didn’t necessarily love back then. Take Me Back To Eden! ❤
I was just a 12 year old girl when this movie first aired in October of 1980. Jeff Goldblum is the best Ichabod Crane I've ever seen. I'm a 54 year old woman now, and this is still my favorite version of The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow. It's a shame this movie isn't being shown on TV anymore. It's a good, family-friendly movie.
@@snowysquirrel9790 I like it much better than "Sleepy Hollow," the Johnny Depp version. They made way to many changes with that one. It didn't even come close to the original story. Besides that, it was nightmare-inducing! The Jeff Goldblum version is a bit different from the original, but not like "Sleepy Hollow."
I had just turned 11 in September 1980... living in Louisville, Kentucky... I'm fairly certain I watched it when it first aired... October is a crisp aired golden leaf 🍁 month in that area... sure I was snuggled up on my parents bed 🛏️ watching it on the 📺
Wow. I was ten years old and our family just moved into the country down a 3 mile long dirt road with an old cemetery in a hollow just a half a mile away about the time this movie first aired on television. The cemetery is called Rigdon cemetery located in umatilla Florida. It dates back to the 1800's and it gave me the willy's walking past it to and from the school bus stop. But after a while I started visiting that old graveyard and started picking it up and taking care of it. It was a forgotten cemetery, which as a kid I found to be terribly sad and everyday I would visit each and every gravestone and pay my respects. I'm 48 years old now and I still visit that old graveyard , everytime I walk into that resting place a calmness happens that is indescribable. Everytime I see this movie, it brings back memories of my childhood and I take a long ride into the country and visit that old place.
Cute version. Jeff was casted perfectly, all 6'6" of that goofy looking actor. Loved it... And if you're old enough to remember legendary NFL Dick Butkus (Bram Bones) playing football... a beast of a man on the field and fun on film! Thank you for sharing @ FroggyFlix!
Goldblum is the perfect actor to play Ichabod Crane, he just looks and sounds exactly how the character should. I have this movie on VHS and have rewatched it a few times, it's always entertaining.
This movie is so wholesomely innocent yet keeps audience's attention. I have lost count how often I have watched this and I look forward to many more years of watching it here😍. 4-24-22

I haven't seen this movie since I was 10-years-old and had just finished trick-or-treating. I'm amazed at how much I remembered of the movie. What nostalgia!
This is my favorite version! This is the only version where Ichabod gets a happy ending. I was 6 years old and in love with the Halloween season in 1980 when this was on tv. Wish I could go back just one more time. We didnt know how good we had it.
I love this version of Sleepy Hollow (The legend of). It has a charm, and humor, that I never tire of. I used to have a crush on the girl who played Katrina. I saw her in an episode of Miami Vice, too.
@Nicole Autumn Steffen, I agree with you plus the legend of the sleepy hollow is 1 of my favorite stories like on Halloween or whatever I'm in the in the mood for this story
Goldblum really does bring something special to the character of Ichabod Crane. He makes him a truly sympathetic character very easy to like & care about.
Jeff Goldblum makes such a great Ichabod Crane, a good mix of awkwardness and magnetism. The kind of guy Brom Bones could be equally worried and not worried about.
Love this version! So much better than any other. I agree; Jeff Goldbum was MUCH more like Ichabod Crane than Johnny Depp. There is something simple & eerie about this -- scared me half to death as a kid....but I grew up with this. It's funny; what you know as a child...it never leaves you!

Show of hands, in the scene where Goldblum is being chased by the Headless horseman, how many of you were Hoping He'd say "Must go faster, Must Go Faster..."
Personally, I'm glad he didn't actually say that line here. It would have ruined the effect when he said it in another movie about 13 years later. The reason, then, would be that when he said it in Jurassic Park, everyone would be like: "Wait. Didn't he say that in The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow?" Jurassic Park is far more iconic in Jeff Goldblum's career than this film is. Don't get me wrong. I like this version of the classic tale. But, the "must go faster" line would have ruined it for him in his more iconic role if he had said it here first. Plus, he does use that line in another film about 3 years after JP.
Thanks so much for having this here. I bought a used VHS version several years ago but this is better quality. I always enjoy this version of Sleepy Hollow!
Always like Jeff Goldblum. He has one of those rare types of acting style, where it looks and sounds like he is just talking off the top of his head. Like he didn't even rehearse the lines.
@@oldyeller6518 Sort of...He did several voice roles in cartoons like the Simpsons...frequently playing himself or had small cameos in a few things. His 'big' role was the mayor of Bridgetown in "The Postman"...where he essentially (again) played himself, this time in the future.

But, I never watched it, and lost it later on. This is an early Jeff Goldbloom vehicle, if not his first, perhaps. I see Mr. Woodman (from 'Welcome Back Cotter') is in it, along with that creepy eyed, Meg Foster😲!!! Those creeper peepers, always sent chills 🌬️ up, and down my spine🥴!!! I never did (and wouldn't), go out with a woman, who possesses blue eyes, like this. This movie is my favorite version, of this tale😁, next to the Disney animated short.
In junior high school I fell asleep watching this movie the night after Halloween and always wanted to know how it ended - yes, I read the book - and now, I finally know.☺️ Very good movie with a fun ending; thanks for sharing it!
This and Sleepy Hollow (1999) are the best adaptations of the tale. Though this one focuses much more on the residents of Sleepy Hollow, their relations with Crane, and the subplot involving Palmer. The Headless Horseman isn't much of a threat until the end. Goldblum is in his element, and this was his earliest starring role. Too bad this movie never made it past VHS, it must not be married!

Just lucked up on Disney's Ichabod Crane animated version with Bing Crosby narrating n singing the entire feature, which first introduced my family when we were kids in the 1960's to The Legend of Sleepy Hollow!!! Since then, I have been fascinated by EVERY version of the famous tale!! This Jeff Goldblum tale is a classic!!! I do not remember it from when it first came out as I was ALREADY too old to be home watching TV at night as I was ALWAYS working n going to school at night 🌃!!! But since finding it recently in my 67 th year on this earth, I have grown enamored with it!!! Thanks for showing it this evening in July, 2024, where I am experiencing great difficulties in life. This is a Great respite to regenerate on!!!
I think I remember when this came out and we watched it around halloween. You know like when the Charlie Brown Great pumpkin and all of the other Halloween shows used to air on television back in the long days ago.
You know how you see something when you’re a little kid and it sticks with you all through your life? I can’t remember what I did last week but I can remember watching this movie around Halloween on a reel to reel projector in my second grade classroom as a treat (probably around 1983). Time went on and every time I saw Jeff Goldblum in a movie, I remember this one. Fast forward to now when everything is on UA-cam, I’ve finally found it again. Totally brings me back to being a little kid and the feeling of Halloween. It’s Halloween night 2023 and I’m kicked back and watching this great movie! Thanks to whoever put this up!

This is like the first horror film I saw. from this all else followed ...
Still scary as an adult .
i love this movie. i used to watch it all the time me and my brother. still got the vhs tape.
RIP Dick Butkus. The one and only Brom Bones. One of my favorite movies.
I loved this movie with Jeff Goldblum. Thank you for posting it!
Jeff Goldblum is such a good actor I have never seen this movie so far so good thanks for sharing.
My very first Jeff Goldblum movie. So weird seeing Ichabod Crane as The Fly and in Jurassic Park now! 😂
I love this version, I have to watch it a couple times every Halloween season or it’s not Halloween 🎃 I have the old VHS tape but I wish they would re-release it on dvd or blu-ray.
CN I get it ?
Hard to find movies released by Magnum Entertainment on anything but VHS. Too bad, they had a colorful library of movies.
Us too ! Have watched it every Halloween-time for Decades !
There’s something about period piece movies where all the actors have 70s hair gives this a weird kinda charm 🤣
Thank you for sharing it was fun to watch this movie again after several years
Awww 🥰
Winthrop Palmer’s laugh scared the hell out of me as a kid. A great movie. Appreciate you uploading!
Same. Underrated actor for sure. 😲🌌👀
Ikr?! He actually reminds me of the British Actor, Brian Blessed. That laugh is the most TEFFIFYING I have ever heard! Am 45 & it still scares me! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤷♀️
This Dr. Vink look-a-like was interesting when he wasn't practicing his "Mwa·ha·ha·ha-ing!"
What a treat. I had no idea Jeff Goldblum was in this. I just clicked because of the title. This ought to be really good.
Appreciate this being uploaded in its original broadcast form, not stretched out to 16.9 ... I prefer things unaltered, as they were filmed. Kudos.
When I seen that guy I expected a T. rex to show up .
This brings back good memories of being a kid in the early 80's --- I was seven when this was on t.v.
Me too
AMEN
This was great ! Thank you for sharing and bringing back some good memories!😁🐎🎃🎇✨
Just finished watching it with my newly wife. I saw this back in the early eighties. I was probably about 12 and I remember it like it was yesterday. I had a wonderful effect on me. Now I am 52 and I hope to share movies like this with my first newborn expected in 3 months.
I never saw this version before. I love it! Jeff Goldblum is an excellent Ichabod Crane.
Thumb down
