In the post-war years, Arabian fantasies were incredibly popular: an opportunity to feature scantily clad beauties in lavish color, with romantic stories and exotic backgrounds. Every studio made a few of these romps, using their most beautiful actors to great advantage and adapting epic plot lines without much gravity. Here, cast as a villainess, Lucille Ball is Narah, the daughter of Ali (Gregory Gay), pretender to the throne and royal assassin. The true heir, played by John Agar (She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Fort Apache), smuggled away on a magic carpet when just a baby, grows up under an assumed name until he is old enough to claim his place alongside his beautiful love, Lida (Patricia Medina). Classic film villains Raymond Burr and George Tobias join in the spectacle-and producer Sam Katzman didn’t forget the dancing girls! Newly remastered.

I actually own this and almost every other vintage Arabian nights and sword and sandal. Silly as all get but that was the design. Total escapist adventure, corny dialoge, process shots, great set design and decor, dancing harem girls who look like they were freshly choreographed by bugsy Berkeley all in it's technicolor glory Saturday matinee at it's crowning best. If you like this try One thousand and one Arabian nights (1945) with cornell wilde. 😂
Now that's LOVE😍🤩😁
There is an Arabian fantasy film I cannot remember the title ? it starred Phil Silvers what interesting about this movie Rex Ingram revised his role as the Genie ( the one he played in The Thief of Baghdad 1940 - the Alexander Korda film )
@josephdannyfoster4755
Yes that's "one thousand and one Arabian nights" (1945) with Cornell wilde from Columbia pictures.
Agree. I’m a fan of “ quality” cinema and some movies show that in different ways. This fulfills its objective. It was never meant to be the next Casablanca or gone with the wind. It’s escapist entertainment.
But…I really can’t get my head around Lucile balls popularity. She’s not funny! But that’s just me 😊
The real people of Saudi Arabia want nothing to do with this stuff though.
At this point in y life I choose these vintage movies now
Me, too.
Raymond Burr + Lucille Ball in the same film?! Loved this. Thanks for introducing me to this wonderful gem of a movie. AND - "Abner Kravitz" as Razi, one of the Scarlet Falcon's crew!! I had to keep from laughing too hard.
Raymond burr such a distinctive voice and handsome physique!
After all these years I still enjoyed these movies😅🎉🎉
THANK YOU REALLY ENJOY ALL THESE MOVIES IN THIS ERA, VERY ENTERTAINING.
Lucille Ball before she became the Queen of Comedy
Thank you, I have seen many of these kinds of movies but never this one.
One of my favs was the 1961 version of The Thief of Baghdad with Steve Reeves. I came across it after watching his peplum films and it’s well worth a watch.
Only in Hollywood in the late '40s \ early '50s... The hero is "The Scarlett Falcon," wearing his signature all scarlet robes, scampers around in broad daylight, without being detected. The same era that spawned a character who needed only a pair of glasses and mild manners to hide the fact that he was Superman. Ah, the era of dreams and fantasy...😊
Yes but Clark Kent didn't look like Superman and Superman never looked like he worked in the Daily Tribune. LOL
🐎🐎🐎 All the horses are thinking "These freaking crazy humans! How long will they be riding on our backs?"
Lo mismo digo
Love this movie❤
Lucille Ball had a wonderful style of wisecracking!
This movie premiered 3 days in 1951 after the I Love Lucy show first aired on TV. I wasn't aware how incredibly old the series is. Perhaps the oldest continuing syndicated series ever. "ohh loosee...!!!"
Just the kind of silliness I would expect from a pairing of John Agar & Lucille Ball.
🤣🤣
Perry mason, I love Lucy... Some good actors in this feature presentation. Sewing, craftsmanship, creativity
I love Arabian Night movies, but Lucielle Ball with that strong American accent????????
I had to keep looking at her and I started seeing (and hearing!) Eve Arden lol fun movie
Yeah. Shades of Lucy Ricardo. Kinda disconcerting. I don't recall this film but I thought I'd seen them all. I LOVE these silly old Thief of Bagdad-type movies so much. A part of winter weekends as a child. Afternoons spent witth nasty viziers and noble sheiks and harem girls.
The Magic Carpet 1951. When his parents, the caliph and queen, are murdered by usurper Ali (Gregory Gaye), the newborn Ramoth is delivered to the safety of his uncle, Ahkmid (William Fawcett), via a magic carpet. The adult Ramoth (John Agar) becomes masked hero the Scarlet Falcon. After tricking the reigning caliph into appointing him the royal physician, Ramoth learns of his noble birth and, with the help of faithful Razi (George Tobias) and beautiful Lida (Patricia Medina), he fights Ali and his wrathful minions.
That was fun . Thanks.
Raymond Burr, would know that deep bass voice anywhere, Lucille Ball does a great job and could that possibly be Little Ricky with henna rinse on his head swaddled in pharoa's purple striped swaddling cloth? Probably not, but it's a fun thought. Fun Saturday matinee; enjoy the costumes. 🎉
Ali ba ba style ❤
The most nicest thing in this movie is that the intention of achieving something through fight👍
🤣🤣
Lucille Ball! Never saw this one!
Thanks for the upload ‼️
The Magic Carpet es muy buena, por ahi estare muy seguido gracias y saludos
Interesting movie in this modern age🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great movie 🎉
Very interesting movie...
Beautiful movie😊😊😊
Columbia was the smallest of the so called :Big studios.Every year they made mostly b movies but they also made movies like :On the Waterfront, Bridge on the River Kwai and From here to Eternity
User, too bad you can't enjoy the fun of a mindless movie. We all mature growing up, but , silly movies can still be enjoyable. Don't take it so seriously.
SuperCinecolor was Cinecolor's entry into full color. Previously they had been limited.
The Wondrous ( carpet ) in Arabic = Al-Adjeeba ❤ ( it's the magic word to make your carpet fly 😊 )
Hey that's not a magic carpet. A magic mattress ❤
And by the looks of it at the end, it will be used as a mattress !!!😁

1951 was the date
on this corny old film !
So glad Lucy did
more worthwhile
projects, before
and since.😊.
Her physical comedy
and very expressive
face gave us a huge
amount of entertainment.
Saw a documentary
about her life, and near
the end, she seemed
bitter : sad it didn't
turn out as well as
hoped...😢💙 : Lucy
called Desi " a loser " .😢
On a lighter note (🎵)
one of her funniest comedy
episodes , imho, was " Lucy
Meets The Burtons ".
Enjoy !😊⭐.
🇬🇧😊💙🦉📽️⭐🇬🇧🇺🇲
Raymond Burr looks like he was born in those costumes!
I have most of these old Arabian Nights movies on VHS video
Wonderfull fairytale, fantastic escapism!
Wild Lucille Ball
That's why I stayed 💪🎬🇬🇧
She was pretty cute!
Yayyyyy let’s doooo this
Should win the award for The Most Absurd Casting
My beautiful city Baghdad
Why don't UA-cam channels include the release year in descriptions.
Oct. 18 1951
That's not Y/T - it's on the uploader.
Thankyou 🎉
Nice Movie ❤❤❤
Enjoy the movie, don't nitpik
Reminds me of Elvis Presley's 1965 film Harum Scarum.
😙😙😗😍 beautiful dancer I love it
Oh Lucy and John Agar a movie togerher
Watching this movie I figured out that Arabs spoke excellent English but now they don't 😂😂😂
manjunat : with an
American accent,
too !
What a corny old film !
Surprising Lucy did it,
but then, it was probably
well paid....got to make
a living ! 😊
🇬🇧⭐🥀💙🦉😊📽️🇺🇲
I lovelly this movie 😂😂😂❤
Very interesting. 👍
This starts off so Colorfully Campy....it seems like it's going to Silly .. LOL 😂😆
. just my opinion
The things people do because of gambling debt. Or with a gun pointed to your head... Katzman & Ball (already a huge star by 1951)? Ball, not the love interest and a villainess?
George Tobias played Abner ( for a while ) on Bewitched.
Stay blessed✨ forever✨🤎 evergreen🌲❤storyline great👍👏movie to all times my favorite😍 keep it up✅, 🇦🇶
Scarlet Falcon, Robin Hood of Arab version 😂😂
Español de Favor
Everyone has an accent except for the hero.
Ah....... "Put me down you image of a hippapotamus / Put me down you walking whale" Patricia Medina says to him - love it. Not Errol Flynn, this movie, but thoroughly enjoyable escapism with "I Love Lucy" and Perry Mason.

Notable only for the appearance of Lucille Ball & Raymond Burr, and I’m willing to bet that they both considered it as a blight upon their careers. Entirely tepid.
I tell you the truth. Almighty God came to me in a dream. He took off his cloak, threw it over the sea, and it snapped into a flying carpet. He stepped onto it and flew all around the sea in front of us. Then God came back to the shore and stepped off it, perfectly dry.
Thrifty B-movie producer Sam Katzman recycled a lot of stock footage in this movie from the classic movie "A THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS" (Columbia, 1945) for this 1951 romp with B-movie director Lew Landers, and a lot of fun with star Lucille Ball.
Me (watching the opening credits and reading the name of the actress who plays the princess) No! I did not really see that name.😁
For any youngsters watching, Lucille Ball is a much better actress than she comes off in this. Please don't avoid any other films she's done. She just seems out of place in this role. Luminous as always but not quite right or comfortable.
So dramatic

Lucille Ball had often complained to Columbia Pictures head Harry Cohn about the quality of the pictures she had been doing while under contract to the studio. At the time this picture was made, Ball was only obligated to Columbia for one more film, and Cohn had producer Sam Katzman, who turned out most of Columbia's low-budget "B" pictures, concoct this cheap Arabian Nights fantasy as a punishment to Ball for her constantly challenging him to give her better roles.

Made in 1951 when Studios could not decide whether to cast Lucy for her beauty or comedic skills.. John Agar could have been a Prince in real life when he became Shirly Temple's first husband, but unfortunately ended up acting more like the cheating Evil Gand Vizir.

Sorry too many adverts for me. One at least every five minutes. I’m off and won’t be back. Don’t know if it is the uploader or YT but no ‘like’ or viewing figure from me.
I heard John Wayne, but didn't see him.
Lucy's dialogue is totally out of sync with the other Arabian accents😮
😅😅
