I just discovered your videos and each one that I have watched just endears me to you both more and more. This one especially is amazing for me. My grandfather's birthday was on Halloween. My mom, pregnant with me, my dad and my 10 mo old brother was at his house celebrating, my dad was watching the Wonderful World of Disney showing the Legend of Sleepy Hollow when my mom started labor pains. My dad insisted she could wait for the end of the show and then he took her to the hospital where I was born just moments after they got there. So I share my Halloween birthday with my grandfather and my love for The Legend of Sleepy Hollow with my dad! And now I have this awesome video to share with h as well! Thank you for what you do!

Jessica's love of leaves makes me happy 🍁 Whether she's touching them when she passes a tree, stomping on piles of them on the ground or collecting them on her dress, it just makes me smile
I live in the area and I was there on Saturday Oct 23rd. Took their haunted hayride. It is just legendary. Best Halloween hayride I've ever been to, not because it was scary, but because it was legendary and historic. Loved it. We went over that wooden bridge in the cemetery and as spooky as the cemetery itself was, the highlight of the hayride was the headless horseman who appears right at the end of the hayride.
Fun fact, Washington Irving was the first American author to be known outside of the United States. In addition to Sleepy Hollow, Rip Van Winkle, and the biography of George Washington. Yes, I did check this out just to verify. I also learned to speed type with his work. The first chapter of Sleepy Hollow is the five-minute test. I really love the way you present these places. I am sorry if I sound a little nerdy.
Legend of Sleepy Hollow was inspired by and generally takes narrative root from a Robert Burns poem called Tam O Shanter published in Scotland early 1790s. Check it out if you feel like taking it down the nerd hole a bit further.
This is amazing! Sleep Hollow is my favorite Halloween story. I didn't know any of these characters were real people! Thank you SO much for this video!!
Great job on highlighting the village. My Grandfather's birthplace and home is just down the road. My family kept it till the 2000s. So I used to spend alot of time in that area as a kid.
These two are adorable. You can tell they're deeply in love and have, albeit creepy, shared interests, but the history behind it all is so interesting. Thank you for sharing your historical journeys.
I was born on April 3rd as well but in 1959....And I love Washington Irving's work....GREAT video. I love the history's you tell as well. Thanks and keep up the good works...
I was there just after that movie came out and the place looked nothing like it does now. Graves have been moved, trees trimmed, place cleaned up. It sure looks like the town cares for it's heritage now, whereas when I was there they didn't. Not much. The Old Dutch Church i saw was white, wood and looked exactly like the one in the Burton movie including the white picket fence. That seems to be gone now. Fire? Who knows? The town itself had zero tourist stuff. Not a single tourist stuff store. I talked to a few locals. Mostly from PR, they did not like the horseman story at all. Guess all that changed too.
What makes this story interesting is that the Washington Irving story made Ichabod Crane a schoolteacher; the movie, Tim Burton did a fabulous job with the tale as he turned Sleepy Hollow into an early version of Peyton Place with Lady Van Tassel as the 'Village Bicycle' so-to-speak, and Ichabod Crane as a constable investigating the multiple beheadings.

I met you several years ago in Savannah at the Sorrel house. I have had a 10 year fixation on that house that caused me to visit Savannah about 10 times and launched about 10 years of personal research into the house, the first owner, the architect, and the alleged haunting. But back to when I met you- you seemed to have one or more heavy attachments on you that have since moved on. Your spirit is much lighter, and I am relieved to see that. Peace be with you.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I am pretty sure I didn't see the animated Sleepy Hollow film, but my earliest memory from when I was a kid, was seeing the Scooby Doo episode of it, which I love.
Sleepy Hollow is my favorite fall/Halloween story. The book, The old Disney cartoon, the Tim Burton film and I loved the tv show from 2013-2016. The first couple seasons were great. Nothing says fall like the many versions of the story of Ichabod and the Horseman.

You were so close to Sunnyside!!! Also, you could have visited Lyndhurst mansion, a gothic-style manor which has been used in many movies and TV shows. Dark Shadows, for example.
Great video. My wife and I go there for Halloween almost every year. I highly recommend to take the lantern tour at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery during Halloween time. I think they have tours as late as 9-10 pm . Everyone on the tour carries oil lanterns and the creepy factor of the cemetery gets so much better that late at night. Also, you hear people screaming in the distance at the haunted house mixed with chainsaws. The highlight: they bring you inside one of the locked tombs where they filmed a scene from the 1970 film "House of Dark Shadows" . It was the crypt of Barnabas Collins. Also, check out Lyndhurst Estate that also was the filming location for the film. Sunnyside is great on the weekends during Halloween. They have a shadow puppet play, story tellers, etc.
This was great guys! I live on Long Island NY and have been up to Sleepy Hollow several times. It's an awesome place to visit..so rich with history. Doesn't hurt that this is my all time fav story. I came across this video because of doing Sleepy Hollow research. At first, I thought it to be just another personal vacay video but it turned out pretty cool! Beautiful dress! Thanks for sharing!
This is one of the greatest videos I’ve ever watched. Great job of articulating your passion and knowledge and love of Autumn 🍂
Thankfully we're only an hour away from here. It's absolutely beautiful. Snow melts guys. We'd love to have you move here ! ❤
It doesn't surprise me that your first date was on Halloween:) You two are spooktackular! Hahaha:) tons of love for channel/family:)
"That perfect tortilla chip crunch"....LoL I love fall leaves too, the smell, the colors, and their sounds! Another great video guys!
I love that you guys came to sleepy hollow. You were only about 20 mins from my house , I wish I had met you two. You definitely have to come back and do the night tour of the Cemetery.
You should meet them and they could throughougly cover the rest of what they missed
@@jeangriffith6498 that would be a dream for sure
Wow, didn’t realize how gorgeous this place really is.
I love re-watching this episode. This is one of the best ones you have ever done in my opinion. I have loved this legend since childhood, first by watching the Disney animated tale and later actually reading it!
I grew up in the Sleepy Hollow area. Love it in the fall! Your video is fantastic. Love it that you showcased my hometown area. Thanks
My favorite story of all times!!...Thank you for taking the time to go there and show us this beautiful place!
Your enthusiasm for the topic in your videos is contagious. Thanks for making and sharing, and for the research you do for each. Much enjoyed and appreciated.
I just found this channel, Im AMAZED how good you guys are.
I loved that Sleepy Hollow TV series that aired back in 2013. Love Jessica's dress and when her dress started dragging the Fall leaves.
I love your passion for life!! Watching Baby Ghoul crush leaves makes me smile!! Thank you!!
This was just brilliant ..What a fascinating way of making the story come to life .Love how you did this and your lovely wife looked really lovely in her black dress and hat.Thoroughly enjoyed this one..Thank you both 🥰
I oui
Outstanding. My favorite Halloween story & movie. I love how the town owns it, too.
As a city dweller, thank you for capturing and sharing these inspiring natural scenes and sounds!
Jessica's obsession with crunchy leaves is so relateable though. And you both are so freaking wholesome!
I absolutely love you two!! You’re both so damn cute!! I’m such a history buff, and you guys make learning history so much fun!! Continued fun on your adventures, and I’ll be watching!!! Blessed be 💜🖤💜🖤💜🖤
I just came across this channel yesterday and I love them too
The leaves!!! I grew up in West Virginia and my favorite sound ever was the crunch of autumn leaves! And the smell of the leaves is so particular. Also the smell of snow. Living in Texas, we don’t really get much of anything fall or winter wise and I miss it so much.
Absolutely one of my favorite stories, Disney movies, and motion pictures starring Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci‼️😃 Thank you for this episode, GLC! ☺️
17:40 This area reminds me of Sligo Creek Park in Washington D.C.
21:21 Awww. This is THE BEST part of the segment. ☺️💕 What a beautiful couple.
I agree with the movie being a fave! Very underrated Tim Burton creation and good cast. The feel of that movie transports you there, to that time and place..just like the REAL Sleepy Hollow does as a visitor.
@@keithfloydjr4014 Okay, now I need to watch the version you so convincingly recommended to us all.
@@marianserra8371 oh please do! Tim Burton’s rendition was quite good and entertaining. Here’s behind the scenes which doesn’t give away much: ua-cam.com/video/C47jRQLoLQI/v-deo.html
@@lianalonge1984 Thank you for sharing and may I say what a beautiful first name you have.? 💜
I lovvve the Disney cartoon and the movie with Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci
You should totally be a jr high history teacher. The kids would love learning!
I'm so Happy I found your Channel! Your Videos are undoubtedly some of the Very Best Historic/Famous Locations Videos I've ever watched! VERY Pro!
We've been to a couple of these Locations, but never got to see the kinds of things you have shown! I'd have to take a $25-$50 Tour Group to see the same things you have in your Videos!
Thanks so much for Sharing with us!
I know right... I’ve never watched so many vids in a row! He’s great
The best UA-cam channel ever for visiting scary and fun sites
Jessica and her cuteness with the leaves. I don't care how old you are, playing in the fall crunchy leaves is a have too. Love watching you guys!
My husband and I got married in Halloween this year. We watch all of your videos and now want to go on a lot of road trips!! You guys are awesome!!!
Love you two. Thanks for all the great videos.
Greetings, Autumn People.
I hope you get to go back there and see Washington Irving’s house. Would be great to see it. Great video by the way. Happy Halloween to you. 🎃
I very rarely comment on UA-cam videos but wanted to say how much I enjoy grimmlifecollective.
Such a lovely couple and diverse, interesting content. However what prompted me to comment was just how well shot and edited your videos are. I know nothing about camera’s but whatever you’re using it is superbly clear. Long may your channel continue! Best of wishes from UK 🇬🇧
Oh hey, my family is buried there! Tarrytown and sleepy hollow get INTENSE around Halloween time. We love it! I love the themed street signs in SH!
No matter what kinda day I’m having I can put a video of two of my favorite people and watch there amazing videos. Ty for such wonderful content. It’s always amazing!!!!
Thank y'all. This is very interesting. Sleepy Hollow is my favorite story. Nothing can replace it.
Bro you have this history telling down ! Just found your channel somehow this morning on a rainy Sunday and I’ve watched about 5 in a row and I never do that ! You gotta gift man ... keep on keeping on. Salute!
Great history lesson mate.
Greetings from Australia.
I stumbled upon this channel because of the Danzig spooky bricks video. You guys must have the best time checking out all these awesome places. I can thank my intrest in heavy music for finding this. Graveyards, abandoned buildings, famous places! Coolest job ever!
Thank You
Yes, thank you! Hopefully, my family and I will visit during Halloween!
Jessica has an amazing profile - golden-era Hollywood features. And she appears to travel well. Lucky man!
This was great guys! I live on Long Island NY and have been up to Sleepy Hollow several times. It's an awesome place to visit..so rich with history. Doesn't hurt that this is my all time fav story. Washington Irving's estate is really cool as well. Maybe when you move to Sleepy Hollow you'll have the time to see it..ha
Great video!
Thank you SO much for this video. Even though this place is pretty much #1 on my bucket list, it is doubtful that I’ll ever get to visit. As such, I TRULY appreciate your wonderful and thorough tour. The best part is your enthusiasm and interaction with the lovely Jessica. I feel your appreciation for this beautiful, historic place and 110% agree!! 🍁 🎃 🌚
Hope you and your wife don't stop doing these videos, love them. I've never been to any of these places, I'd love to be doing what you all are doing, but since I can't this is the next best thing. Thank you guys for all you do. Your wife is really cute, hi Jessica.
I really enjoy your videos. They are very interesting, well researched and good visuals. This was my favorite episode from you two.
These headstones look fantastic. I love to go to cemeteries and see how old the oldest headstone is and take pictures of them. You guys look like you’re always having so much fun.❤
I love you guys. I can always count on you for an extra awesome experience. 💙
You guys are the cutest! 😍🥰thanks for letting us be a part of your adventures to the BEST places ever!
You guys really rock! Thanks for making these videos. I am hooked. The narration is very good and you do a great service to the local businesses that you profile.
Sleepy Hollow is one of my favorite places to go
Just discovered your channel and am currently binging. Love how you have an insightful respectful and intelligent way of presenting some pretty interesting topics. It's also pretty cool how your appearance seems to scare people or at least draw some gawkers to stare .one thing I should mention is how beautiful your wife's hair matches the fall colors in this video. Happy to subscribe .
Crik here too 😂 I'm with Jessica on the level of leaf crunchiness. So disappointing when they look crunchy but aren't. 😂
I’m going to have to reread the book! Also those Maple leaves are huge.
Great work! Very enjoyable.
I thoroughly enjoyed this presentation. I would have to pause, and come back to it, like a novel you do not want to end! You guys are great! I love your video tours, but this one is outstanding! Your Vincent Price one too! Keep em coming! Especially, the Halloween themed ones! It really takes you away! I feel like im there, with you guys.Thx!!
You are a great tour guide! Very well spoken and you know the history!
This is absolutely breath taking I love history and it looks a lot like where I live in New Zealand. I'm amazed how legit and real the story is from where it's based. Amazing !
I love the autumn in New England so beautiful and Halloween must be a treat there.❤
