      One way is the assailant had a weapon and said come with me or else. That would prevent a scream, etc. Another is the missing person knew the perpetrator and trusted them to walk with or talk with them. Chloroform or some other type of method would then be used to take the victim. Yes I watch a lot of these videos!

    When I was in collage I worked part-time at a Hotel-Bar as the hours suited my class schedule. One night at about 2:00am, when I got off work I drove home to my off campus apt. and as I pulled in I was surprised to find a Police car pulled in behind my car. I got out and 2 officers got out of their car and introduced themselves, with badges and ID. I inquired as to what I had done and they told me that they had been sitting in the hotel parking lot watching out for possible drunk drivers when they saw me exit the bar and get in my car. They watched me pull out of the parking lot when another car pulled out behind me. They then followed the car that was following me when I pulled into my parking lot. The other car proceeded to drive past and the cops pulled into to see that I made it home safely. I had no idea I was even being followed! Before they left they gave me a small can of Pepper spray and showed me how to use it. I started paying more attention after that!

      Girly you dodged a bullet that night and thank God those cops were on the ball enough to see a potentially serious to lethal situation in play. I'm in my mid 50's now and I live in NSW in Australia. I worked at McDonalds in the evenings when I was still in school and I never felt especially worried when I took the cash from the night to the banks after hours deposit draw. I would be carrying $ 2K and back in the 1980's that was a reasonable amount of money and it would have bought a fair amount of drugs and alcohol. Then in 1986 when I was pregnant with my second child and not working at that time a young nurse called Anita Cobby got off the train at Blacktown station, which is where I lived and the McDonalds and the bank were on that street. She'd been to dinner in the city with nursing colleagues and tried to get a taxi but there were none. BTW the taxi rank was at the station. She then tried to call her parents but they had both gone to bed by then so she decided to walk home which was less than a mile away. But there were 5 predators out that night hunting for a victim and a bit of a thrill. You can Google the rest, which is horrific and her death left an indelible mark on our community and on me personally because, like you, I too dodged a bullet in that it wasn't me that night but it could have been. Anita was a good person and she came from good people and she ABSOLUTELY DID NOT deserve to be put through the torture she endured. We need to realize that the most innocuous looking individuals can commit the most heinous crimes.If we are in their line of sight it would take a miracle, like the one YOU received, to prevent our own disappearance and demise.It amazes me just how many people disappear in extremely short time frames and sometimes these people are moments away from home and then they NEVER arrive and families wait for decades hoping for answers that never come. As a parent and Grandma I would much rather know that my child had died and I can have a funeral and mourn and over time the pain would be easier to cope with. My worst nightmare would be the multiple scenarios that I would go over in my head daily going between hope and despair. I'm SO VERY GLAD that you didn't become another statistic and that you can share your story. Situational awareness is something that we have less and less of when we have our digital devices with us at all times like many do. For some people the training they received in the Military about this is the reason they're alive today. Google it after Anita's story. I hope your life is a positive and happy one and thanks for sharing your story. Take care now!

    Mall’s parking lots were really dangerous back in the 80’s, 90’s . Retail employees were told to park at the end of the lots to leave spaces for the shoppers . I remember if you were a retail worker you were allowed to ask for a security escort from the mall to your car 🚘

    • @patrickharrington9394

      Late to the party as usual, but.... I'm not 100% comfortable saying that's changed. One of the restaurants I worked at in the last decade was ultimately forced to request an available officer on hand *every night* so that men would stop harassing the female members of the closing staff (and threatening the male members trying to protect them). We're talking threats, offers to 'follow them home for their safety', offers of a 'ride', etc, etc. And we just shared lot space with a little stripmall, rather than being in a proper multi-storefront mall with an interior space. And it was a punishable offense, for the record, to park your vehicle in any space within fifty feet of one of the main entrances if you were an employee.
      And closer to twenty years ago, female staff in particular were encouraged to leave via the sublevel maintenance tunnel (restaurant inside a hotel) rather than going out the door, if they worked until close and/or were part of the closing team, because it was so common for guests to accost female staff late at night that it was deemed safer for them to exit the building *on the loading dock* in the back.
      Like, this stuff hasn't gone away. If anything, it's more likely it's the opposite; it's become ubiquitous and therefore not news- or note- worthy.

    • @AlbionRising

      @@patrickharrington9394 wow it's insane they don't consider security - specially for female employees- at malls or big parking lot places!! I've seen so so many videos of missing women that disappeared in a parking lot for decades, that it should be law to have them escorted by security if they work there. Another one that needs to change asap in the US is the maintenance guy in apartment buildings. Only in the US and I guess Canada they have the keys to every apartment, outside those countries just the property owner and the person renting has the key, and if thy need work done they stay the day and open for the maintenance guy, but he Never has the key and thousands of US cases of abuse and murder is because of this!

      Considering the few employees at any mall at 10pm, you think they’d crank the lights up and make sure everyone left safely.
      My cousin worked at a fast food place in Toronto in 1980s the store managers were responsible for making sure every employee left the parking lot safely. Walking them to their cars or waiting with them for a family member to arrive. So easy so simple and zero cost.

    I lived in Wisconsin just 30 minutes away from the Fox River Mall at the time Laurie Depies going missing. My friend from school went missing at the same time about and her body found 100 miles away in a ditch raped and murdered. They thought they might of been connected. Until Cora Jones kidnapping about 2ish years later in Wisconsin only a short drive from where I lived and where my friend was taken. David Spanbauer killed 3 girls. They questioned him on Laurie and he didn't do it. So intense the memories I have at that time and that all lead me to being a True Crime fan hardcore. I'm a walking brain of serial killer and true crime knowledge and still going with it to this moment.
    Edit: thank you for putting Laurie in your video. She seems to be forgotten alot. I know my good childhood friend Ronnie was forgotten. Not one video EVER made about her to this day. No one says her name.

      Do you have photos of her? Any details including anything you know about her former whereabouts and her hobbies, her workplaces, her habits, her personality and the details of her disappearance/day she disappeared or any information the police or private investigators may have had, regardless if they followed-up or considered them "dead leads" - these are all potentially relevant and helpful. Even a description of her clothing and any jewelry or identifying scars or tattoos or any history of childbirth (regardless if it was a live birth - and whether a cesarean was performed) are important factors which may still be helpful and relevant to identification living or deceased. Did she have any identifying characteristics physical or otherwise, (a limp or a lisp or a quirk)? A photo of her, her age now and at the time of her disappearance, if that's all you have, along with whatever details, no matter how slim, would be helpful.

      I lived 30 minutes from the Fox River Mall when this happened to Laurie. The scariness you speak of terrified so many people at that time.
      The mall hired more security guards to help escort people to their cars, people were asked to wake in pairs to their cars and bus stop by the mall, the news would tell people to watch to see if they are followed and if they think they are drive to a police station or busy business, not to go where you are going to like your home or school or friends house to lead them there, if you had to pull in and do not get out if your car and in all situations the place you arrive start honking your horn till someone comes to you, draw attention to yourself make a scene till you see the car following you drive away from you.
      It was months of people being scared because of the eeriness of how she just vanished into thin air.....
      No scream heard... Her bf heard her car pull in but that was it... so what I find weird is that this was an apartment complex, it's August 19th.... Kids are on Summer Break they are up late and prolly some outside... People grilling... it's hot and humid in summer in Wisconsin so windows are open... People outside or on their balconies...
      it was only 10:15 at night when she parked, people should be pulling in from finishing work or leaving to go to work the night shift, delivery drivers of food.... I've lived in many apartment buildings even right now actually and there is ALWAYS humans around all hours... This isn't a suburb...
      I don't get how no one saw anything... Her bf went to the balcony a couple minutes later and saw nothing... So i wonder how fast this person took her... If they followed her they had to of parked close to her when she parked and walked straight bee line style to her and grab her and keep her silent get her to his vehicle and drive away in just seconds... Legit ONLY seconds.... POOF Laurie Depies just vanished...
      And i remember the news showing the location of her car and the parking spots around how close to other residents and such... But no one saw or heard anything??...
      How is someone subdued so fast without a sound made....
      Her boyfriend Marc Truebenbach was a suspect for a bit I remember and cleared fast.... but the people didn't agree with him being cleared for a very long time.

    It really amazes me as to how so many people can go missing or disappear without a trace...and what pisses me off is when someone does go missing the authorities always say, you gotta wait a certain amount of time before filing a missing persons report. When parents of the missing pass away i think they know the truth about their children deaths when they connect with them in "heaven" (when something like that even exists) but i believe dead souls connect somewhere and that gives me some comfort that the parents then will know what happened to their loved ones.

      MelK I'm gonna have to lay the bold truth on you. Yes souls go someplace however, either heaven. Or hell if one has not repented, believed in Yashua or kept Yah's laws during their life. So the happy ending thought of thinking everyone or thing unites after death in heaven no matter how they lived Is completely false. Yah Bless you to know him in Yashua's name.

      Davidautofull dear friend I strongly recommend that you read your Holy bible king James version one more time if you have one. I'm not here for dispute or rudeness but If you can shallow any pride you may have and humble yourself do be corrected. First of all how do you know in all the world there are no prophets today? Just cause there names aren't in a book doesn't mean some do not exist today so that flaw should be cleared yes? Secondly God says to spread the gospel does he not? sense you mention the bible by his law yes, I am to do what he says to do. It's up to anyone to listen or not. So if you think me doing what he says is putting me incharge or that I'm above anyone or mightier than thou shalt ever be. Maybe you've got a completely wrong unstanding of how these things operate or that could just be your opinion. Now if what you did there was throw a Matthew 19:26 at me then my response to that is James 2:14-26 I incurage you to read that. If you didn't know faith without works is dead and If you think God will allow a murderer a theft an adulterer or any criminal of the below into paradise cause they had faith, you are so far from the truth with that conclusion please come back. Even satan believes in Yashua and God And their works he still ain't gonna make it. So I hope you find it within yourself to diligently study Gods word he has standards and they aren't low. As like a judge In court God is a judge only he is just and perfect. So with that by all means please do correct me if I am wrong but first see to it if I am. I look forward to meeting you in heaven, hope to see you there God bless Sir/Ma'am.

      Davidautofull I'm gonna need some scriptures backing those statements cause I personally do not recall reading there are or will not be anymore prophet's ever. Also, I'm pretty sure if you go re-read my previous comment I said a person will be saved through repentance and I added, with also keeping Yah's law. So I don't know why you even mentioned '
      "If a person repents then they'll be forgiven." When I already know this and I already said that.
      Oh and Yashua never needed to be forgiven of anything cause he had no flaw...

    For those of you who say the hardest thing must be not knowing, you are so right. This post is a bit long sorry. As a person who's brother was never found because someone needed money on Christmas Eve. Yes the hardest thing is not knowing where the body is.
    Both parents went to their grave thinking every time they saw a handsome tall 6-foot+ dark-haired blue-eyed young man he might be my brother. Even on trips for charity service in other countries one time my father would go back to the same restaurant five days in a row thinking the young waiter might be my brother. He'd forgotten my brother would have aged 13 years. If they heard a deep laugh in a group at a restaurant they would always turn their head and look.
    My sister hates him for how he disrupted the family how everybody wonders about him Etc she feels neglected because of it. I understand that she was the baby of the family, always spoiled had never really liked him because well he took away the Shine from her as he was the only son. She was also the only genetic child of our parents as my brother and I were adopted brother and sister so she felt we had ganged up on her. It wasn't true it just was a problem with the adoptive mother and her family not accepting the adopted children. So sad as you're not necessarily born into the house you belong to. Jesus Christ himself was an adopted child.
    My brother was a really nice guy not aggressive never judgmental or pushing his weight around. He was extremely intelligent had earned his way through two bachelor's degrees in 3 years on his own with no help financially when he found out he had a brain tumor that was inoperable & his scholarship for med school was pulled as well. Why waste money on someone like him. But he didn't let it get him down. He said he could work until he couldn't work any longer and went to work in Social Services for the Salvation Army in their rehabilitation program for ex-convicts. Basically he made his life a Success no matter what it handed him. Being of mixed race and looking ethnically different than those around him was something he had to learn and grow from and he did. He felt it wasn't purely their fault or his it was just society as a whole since the beginning of time. No one could hold him down and he couldn't hold a grudge.
    After mom died only 3 years after her son disappeared, dad remarried a friend of the family. Her family had been very close to my brother and they really missed him.
    He'd moved back to our hometown while the rest of us were stuck in California. So everybody where we came from was excited that part of our family came home. He loved our adoptive family & our hometown. To him he felt like he was living in Paradise to me I thought he was. Small town safe what could go wrong?
    Our extended family took him in and he became one of I would say everybody's family. He loved everybody and when he was gone there was this big hole in everybody's life as he was the one you called if you needed a little help moving furniture, babysitting Landscaping Etc. Several cousins and cousins-in-law working for the Sheriff's Department worked diligently looking and putting together the case. It is a very rural area but not in the south. Most of them were trained in the military or in the big city and then came home so they are professionals. In an area like that you can't help but have family on the force but they didn't have to work that hard to find who did it. The fool was caught on video tape red-handed with evidence and passing forged checks of my brothers. Sadly they couldn't find the body and nothing led to a strong enough conviction probability with the DA so they had to let it go.
    The saddest part here is our birth family had contacted us that year. We were making arrangements to meet them. It was true after all it had been a medical incident that made them lose custody both were in the hospital at the same time and couldn't get to the courthouse to state they didn't want their children going up for adoption. We were fast-tracked like 60,000 other children in the area in the early 60s. Children for sale. My brother was excited to find out our parents had been looking for us and we had other siblings. He lived within driving range but we didn't know where they lived yet as The Sibling who contacted us was keeping everything close to the vest. Sadly not only did both parents on that side pass away with no answers so did two siblings aunts and uncles Etc all those who've been waiting hoping we'd be found. For him to be lost so quickly after being found just devastated them. I know both brothers would have really benefited from knowing each other having grown up in all girl households. Now we are the only sibling left to each other and we keep in touch because the losses are our common ground.
    To this day I & relatives still search, Sheriff still send out DNA, but in my heart I know he's gone. I've known since the day he didn't call mom for Christmas. He never missed a holiday for her he might not call us kids as I had just talked to him the week before and we were all going to be over at Mom and Dad's anyway but he always had to talk to Mom. As the mothers holidays went by I knew he was gone and she also came to accept that.
    Now 27 years later the pain is just as deep, questions just as hard and you still look over your shoulder when you hear a deep male laugh.

    • @vivianbrown2477
      @vivianbrown2477 5 років тому +2

      @Evie Hammond This world is full of evil and can be scary. The thing is this life is not the end for us. We are created uniquely by God YHVH, in his image, and he loves us. If you're saved and walk in his ways you are protected and if anything does happen you will have everlasting life! You can know that peace and not walk in fear knowing you are loved. Isaiah 54:17 "No weapon formed against you shall prosper..." Someone could hurt or kill your body but they cannot kill your soul and salvation for eternity. There is a plan for everyone's life but it's their free will whether they choose to walk in darkness or in the light. Furthermore we all will stand before God and be held accountable for our actions. Those that did evil will be held accountable to a just God. That is scarier than any threat from this world. Someone may disappear with a trace but it's not forever and God knows what happened. This life is short and you're correct something could happen at any given time so we must make sure we are walking in the truth and in the light where we spend eternity with our creator. We have his Word and salvation through the Messiah Jesus (Yeshua) to get through the evil in this world.

    O.k., on the Kristin in Oakland case I am confused about the classified ad found in her room. You state the police couldn't tell if she placed it or answered it or just clipped it, but never did anything about it. The ad ended "call me". Which would indicate there was a phone number included. If she placed it the phone number would have to be one where she could be reached. If it wasn't, then the police would have the resources to find out whose number it was and question that person. Was this not done?

Prices anywhere in the Bay Area are so ridiculous, it's a sellers' market. So it does pay to live and buy in Oakland.

    Wow, my sister and I grew up in the same household, we have different fathers tho. Her father’s sister has a 26 year old daughter who has just disappeared. I’ve always been a lover of all things true crime, but now that it’s real life, it’s hard to watch. We handed out flyers over the weekend. My sister has been on our local news twice. Her son with her mother with a million questions. It’s crazy.

    I call bs on that man who said he lured Lori with an album of vintage cars. Imagine a guy hits on you in a mall and you say no thanks then he shows up AT YOUR HOME and wants to show you pictures of cars. Who is going to say sounds good and go over there and chat with Creepster McGee?

    Malls used to be so much fun to shop & work. Now, they are the "Main Street" for all foreigners. Fuggetaboutit. But, every few years, I do drive to the door of my favorite mall store (accompanied by another person) to catch a great sale & big haul. I am always on alert same as I am walking into a Home Depot, Walmart, any other parking lot store.

    The narration is too quick and doesnt flow as well as it could. I found it hard to get into. Slowing down slightly, projecting your voice a little, and emphaizing certain important words would greatly help. Im a professional listener (haha) im a court stenographer and really LISTEN when people talk. I couldnt make it through this entire video cause the narration isnt nearly as good as it should be. Lovely voice wth tons and tons of potential though i must say! Keep at it xoxox much love ❤

    These stories hit close to home
    I was almost kidnapped when i was 16years old(now 40)
    I remember being followed for blocks by a car with 3 males in it
    (No cell phone at that time for me)
    They followed me till I was right across the street from my building
    I screamed Jesus name and closes my eyes
    When I opened my eyes and looked back at the man they looked at me then walked away
    All praise to God for always protecting me

    These days more crystal meth users roam, sexual urges twisted and paramount to them. Riding bikes or walking alone should be avoided. Watch your kids like a hawk for God's sake. It's unbelievable how many murders and kidnappings there are....

      @soxpeewee 5 років тому +7

      I honestly don't think the crime rate is going up. People are just more aware. Also someone that looks like a methhead or a methhead could pontentially save you from a crime and someone who looks like an angel could act like a devil. Just be careful and watch your children either way.

    I think many of these mysteries have very obvious solutions. They usually lead to one particular (sometimes glaring) individual. I can't believe the police haven't charged some people in these cases.

    • @hsk2909

      I agree, that in some cases there very evidently IS a person that sticks out like a sore thumb, and they seem to be discarded on very flimsy grounds..and not grilled in any way that should be normal procedure in an investigation of a missing person. I have reacted over that fact so many times looking at these cases. It seems extremely odd to me.
      In Susanne's case here, the bf and his video playing friend should have been well barbecued in questioning. They could both be guilty of whatever happened to her. Two young dudes giving one another an alibi of -We played video games, seems to me to be a very bad alibi to hold water and should be scrutinized thoroughly.

    • @shannonhill3356
      @shannonhill3356 5 років тому +13

      Not what you know. It's what you can prove. Even more so in this age of hard evidence, or 'the CSI effect', most circumstantial evidence is hardly viewed as evidence anymore.

    • @mouthfeel2601
      @mouthfeel2601 5 років тому +5

      For a suspect to actually got to prison, the police must prove beyond reasonable doubt that the suspect committed the crime. This means that hard evidence must be collected and prioritized over circumstancial evidence.
      It doesn't really suffice to say "these dudes look shady and they don't have a strong alibi for this time and day". Especially when in trial the defendant could argue against the prosecutor's case (thus creating reasonable doubt).
      Honestly in Suzanne's case I wouldn't immediately pinpoint to the boyfriend. He collaborated from the very beginning with LE and was the first to blow the whistle on Suzanne not making it to her dorm that night. I imagine he hired a lawyer afterwards when he found out LE could be developing tunnel vision for him.
      This isn't mentioned in this video but some other people who have covered the cases say that Suzanne told a friend a couple weeks before she vanished that she suspected she had a stalkee whom she couldn't recognize, LE could also look into that direction.

      What about cases that have literally NO physical evidence collected, but still make convictions on witness testimony (the MOST unreliable evidence), circumstantial evidence, and viable methods/reasons to be pointed on as means, motive, and opportunity?
      My point was more so that circumstantial evidence hold much more value that what it is given these days. While, of course, and obviously, hard physical evidence will always be prioritized, it must also be proven that this "hard evidence" was left there at (x) time during (x) event. Slightly more thought to do when the suspect lived (and touched, sweat, and bled) in, say, the same house as the victim.
      It's not always cut & dry, and very often convoluted (and yes, biased to all hell)

    • @Carol-D.1324
      @Carol-D.1324 4 роки тому +1

      Obvious...sure, BUT he can’t charge someone with a crime if there is no way to connect that person. You have to be able to prove your point with evidence. If he had been arrested and charged on flimsy evidence and found not guilty, they would never be able to charge him again because of double jeopardy. You have to have something solid because you are only going to get one shot at him being convicted, and you don’t want to waste that one shot.

It wasn't any of the hundred people NOT talked about who interacted with them... Sure. You go. You know what's the truth. I wish all the police units were replaced with your gut reaction based on scant evidence.

      The Modeferri case has to be Onuma or another guy associated through a girl they were both with, or the girl, because Onuma called in the fake tip, and him and Jill Lampo were partners, she was also with a dude named Matthew Luque, and Luque was good friends with a dude who she worked with named Kelly Strathman.
      Modafferi coworkers with Strathman,
      Strathman good friends with Luque,
      Luque lovers with Lampo,
      Lampo lovers with Onuma,
      Onuma calls in the fake tip.
      It is mathematically improbable to not be someone connected to that group in a city of 1 million. Just so happened that Onuma calls in the fake tip?
      Onuma went to Hawaii where he "worked" for a cult leader and con artist named George Patrick Dubie, who is also allegedly connected to the murder of a sex worker in Hawaii named Sonja Lysiuk who allegedly worked for him. George Patrick Dubie was later shot and killed in Thailand by one of his many concubines Margaret Crane who allegedly helped him procure women and children.
      It is possible that she is still alive and is controlled by a cult/organization and/or is a sex slave.
      There are some that are allegedly formerly Dubies victims and cult members that say that Crane (and I think some of them) ran a "mall photo scam" where she would lure in young women for Dubie. Essentially Ghislaine Maxwell type of woman who was also once his victim/cult member.

    Hall’s case is famous for the twin brother angle AND for the Indiana conman who was ‘assigned’ to gain his friendship in prison in order to get him to confess. The conman saw the challenge as an opportunity to do something redemptive for society. It’s like something out of a movie.

    It’s noteworthy that if a person’s eyes are not set symmetrically level on the face-either one eye is set lower on the vertical/longitudinal axis-or else one or both outer eye margins are slanted downwards instead of level straight across, it is a red flag for neurologic aberrancy, as well as potential for increased intracranial pressure (which can evoke violence) and/or cranial nerve irritability.

However it would be interesting for them to release parts of his testimony for the public to understand exactly how he was involved if at all or maybe just what he witnessed on any level that might shed some light. I read somewhere that the Nike man claimed to see someone at stewards that resembled Isreal keyes which could possibly add to further conclusions
